Why won't things go back on Dock?

I accidently took i photo off my dock. I want i photo back on my dock but it won't stay on????????How do i get it to stay there?
Also how do I move photos on to e mail other than i mail or a site I wish to display pics like on my own website or others??????????As it is I can't send e mails via i mail anyway it won't let me, can't figure it out at all???????

Hello kevin:
The items on the dock are pointers to the programs, not the programs themselves. Open applications. Drag the iPhoto icon to the dock. It should remain on the dock. If it does not, trash the preference file (com.apple.dock.plist) and restart.
I am not sure I understand your question. If you want to move photos someplace, however, select the photos and then export them (I send mine to the desktop). After that, you can move/send them anywhere you wish.

go to settings>general>siri >toggle it off and then on

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. DONT CONNECT YOUR DEVICE TO A COMPUTER.

  • HT2417 Iphone model MC608LL.  Why won't it switch back to ringer from vibrate?

Have 3G Iphone model MC608LL.  Why won't it switch back to ringer from vibrate?  Local repair shop said it was a software issue.  AT&T store said to back it up and update OS version.  Did all that.  The switch still won't take it off vibrate.

    - How did you delete it?  If you used Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Settings without the iPod being charged you could have completely drained the battery.
    - After charging for at least half an hour try resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next, after the charging above, place the iPod in recovery mode and try to restore it via iTunes.  For recovery mode see:

  • HT1766 Why won't my phone back up since I just bought additional iCloud storage--it spends hours saying "Backup in progress" and then it just fails?!

Why won't my phone back up since I just bought additional iCloud storage--- it spends hours showing "Backup in Progress" and then it just fails?!  I have it plugged in next to the computer and I turn it off after hitting Backup but it never completes.... Should I just give up and try to get my money back?

I'm having the same problem with my iPad (3). It's been saying that my last backup was 10/11/2012. I have tried rebooting (holding down the home and start keys to reset) and then trying to manually do a backup to the cloud. I have tried deleting the iCloud backups for all apps & setting all of them to not be included in the cloud backup (thinking that maybe one of the apps might be hanging the backup up). I have now deleted the last iCloud backup. I guess I will wait & see if it performs its backup overnight or something. As mentioned above, it has consistently been 1) plugged in, 2) connected to a wifi network, and 3) been in lock screen mode. And yet it hasn't been backing up either automatically (iCloud Backup is set to "on") or if I touch 'Back Up Now'.
Here's something that's really annoying- these posts started last April but I see no sign that anyone from Apple Support has joined this conversation. (!!)

  • Why won't finder stay in the Dock ?

Finder is always open on my desktop. I can "Hide" it, but it re-appears as soon as I do anything. It won't quit. I have gone to Activity Monitor, found it and Force Quit. It immediately appears again. Ideas ?

OK, that's pretty strange, I think we have a deeper problem.
Does CMD + w not work also?
Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, test if things work OK in Safe Mode.
Then move these files to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.recentitems.plist
Try closing that window in Safe Mode.
    Reboot & test.

  • Why won't my iCloud back up?

I have iCloud on my phone and I wanted to back my phone up before I upgraded to the iOS 6. Everytime I go to back it up, it tells me that same thing everytime saying, "Not enough storage. Manage your storage in settings" But I've deleted over 500 photos, deleted useless apps so that I have more space but its still telling me the same thing. If I just upgraded to the iOS 6 without backing up iCloud, will all my photos that I haven't deleted and all my contacts and apps still be there?

First thing you want to make sure is that you are connected to wifi...icloud won't work if your iphone isn't connected to wifi..second you wan to check your icloud setting...go it setting then icloud (make sure your signed in), then click storage and backup at the bottom...on this page at the top you want to make sure you have storage...then you you want to back sure icloud back up is turned on (option is about mid way of page) once you do that at the bottom in blue you will see backup now click that

  • Why Won't Mail Icon Stay in Dock Where I Place It?

on Mac G5 Power PC 10.5.8. My Mail icon keeps moving to the right most position on my dock (dock is at bottom of screen) and will only stay in dock while the Mail application is open. When I close Mail, the icon completely disappears. I want my Mail icon to appear on the left side of the dock. When I drag mail icon to left, after a few seconds it automatically moves to the right end (next to the left side of the separator in the dock).
I would appreciate some help. Happened only after I updated to 10.5.8. Thank you. Dale (see my other dock-related issue with my Intel iMac - also after I updated to 10.5.8).

I did exactly as you described, locating the plist file and moving it from Library/Preferences to the desktop. I logged out, logged back in, and Mail started on the left side of my Dock and then promptly shot to the right. It is now to the left of a Google quick search box, an Applications Folder, a Documents folder, and a Downloads folder. I want the mail icon on the left side of my screen. How can I ensure that?

  • Why has my iPhone 4 shut down and why won't it turn back on?

Please help! My iPhone 4 has randomly turned itself off and I can't get it to turn back on again. It was fully charged last night, but despite this, I tried plugging it in again in case that was the issue, but nothing. Worried I'm going to lose photos etc!

Are you SURE it is charging indeed?
Dunno on the i4's, but on my i5 I get visual confirmation in the guise of a green "battery" displaying the state of charge when I initially plug the USB adapter, plus a special tone. So I can be sure that juice will flow in.
Your problem description begs crying out "bad battery" and/or "bad cable". Try with another USB cable first as the easiest thing to try.

  • Why won't time machine back up my computer?

Message was edited by: Linda K. Kadota My last back up was over 12 hours ago.  I want to upgrade my computer with a new hard disc, so I removed Microsoft office, and now my computer will not work with Time Machine. I intended to  take this computer into the shop 8 hours ago.  Does anyone know what is wrong? I'm using OS X Mavericks 10.9.2.

In order to clone my hard drive, I would have to go out and buy another external hard drive. I have five obsolete drives sitting on the floor under my desk.  I'm not really interested in going out and buying another new drive after spending a lot of money on a Time Capsule that is supposed to do the job--make that 3 Time Capsules.
If it were a corrupt file on the computer, why does the problem occur with all my computers running Mavericks (2) and doesn't occur on computers running Snow Leopard (2)?  Unless the corrupted file came from Apple when I downloaded Mavericks, I don't see how the same problem could occur on both computers. (And the Apple tech person here in Japan admitted to me that others have complained of the same problem).
Actually, today is only the second time TM has failed on the computer I'm now using.  It has failed repeadedly on my newer computer since November, 2014, and the release of iTunes 11.
I ended up doing a clean install of my new computer after the hard disc failed, but it is still acting buggy.
I'm curious about your offer to help. Do I need a couple of screwdrivers to do a clone back up? Or do I need the screwdrivers to replace my hard drive? I don't know how to do a clone back up, but I assume that I just need the right software program and a second drive. I will have the Apple Tech people replace my drive for me, so don't need to know how to do that.  I've seen it done once and that was enough to convince me to leave the task to experts.

  • Why won't Time Machine back up onto this external hard drive?

I re-formatted a SimpleTech 320gb hard drive so it would erase the music and videos on it and format it for use with Time Machine. I thought it all went smoothly but then the initial back up which is about 91gb stops after it backs up about 22gb and says an error occured. No matter how many times I restart everything and try to back up more, it doesn't work. I've even tried using disk utility to erase it and that didn't work either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

First, deselect the drive as your TM backup drive, then turn off TM. Now try this:
    Extended Hard Drive Preparation
    1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder. If you need to reformat your startup volume, then you must boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger or Leopard.)
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Set the number of partitions from the drop down menu (use 1 partition unless you wish to make more.) Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID (only required for Intel Macs) then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
Be sure to re-select the drive for the TM backup drive.

  • Why won't my iPhone back up to my computer?

My iPhone has been acting strange lately...  One night while I was using 3G connection for the Internet, it just stopped loading, and when I tried refreshing the page, nothing would work until I entered somewhere with Wi Fi.  It's been that way since then, along with the fact that every time I plug in my iPhone to the computer to charge, the internal storage is nearly full (which may have something to do with the audio; I will need to remove some music).  However, every time I connect to the computer to sync, it only stays in Step 2, trying to back up to my computer.  Also, all my album artowkr has been wiped off of my iTunes library, which may have something to do with it not syncing all the way.  A message has popped up after trying to back up saying "Does not recognize this device."  Anybody have any idea what's going on?  Thanks!

The device has become corrupted, it needs to be restored.

  • Why won't Time Machine back up my desktop?!

For some odd reason Time Machine has stopped backing up my desktop, it last backed it up on September the 29th but every day since then shows my desktop from the 29th, nothing changes (even though my desktop has)!
As far as I can see other files on my HD are being backed-up, it just seems to be the desktop.
I have plenty of space on my external HD (where my Time Machine back-ups go) and back-ups are taking place as normal, every hour, with no warnings or alerts being given. Everything seems fine on the surface, it was only today, by chance, that I checked for an old file on the desktop from a few days back and made this discovery.
    Any advice appreciated!

  • Why won't time machine back up my HD?

I have used only 169 gb on my hard drive. There is still 86.66 gb available on my backup disk. Time Machine has always backed up flawlessly, but now it says that there is not enough space available. Can that be possible when I still have 86.66 gb of space available? I know any backup program needs some extra space to work with, but does it need more than 86 mb? Thanks.
