Why won't windows icon attach to projector - Dir 11?

I made a windows icon using IconCommander on an intel Mac (snow leopard).  The Mac version of the icon attaches to the Mac projector just fine.  But using the same procedure in creating a windows projector and trying to attach the windows version of the icon doesn't work.  I just get the Di icon on the projector (gray square with "Di") inside.  I don't know if the problem lies with icon commander or Director.  I don't have a windows machine, so need a Mac solution.  I've attached the windows icon.

As far as I know, you can't change a Windows icon from a Mac.

Why won't windows 7 recognize the super drive?  I have set up and it was working yesterday.  I added a usb hup and a HDMI - Vga adapter to run two moniters?  When I booted everything up again I found out that windows would not reconize the super drive.  When I an running OS X, I have know issues.

  • Why won't windows re-size predictably?

Why is clicking the green re-size button such a crap shoot in OS-X? Sometimes the window doesn't change size at all (e.g., in iPhoto). Sometimes it gets bigger than necessary to see the contents of the page being viewed (e.g. in Safari). Sometimes it gets ridiculously small! The other day the green button sent my Firefox window into a rectangle about 2 inches wide by 1 inch tall! On a perfectly normal web page! This kind of thing happens in all kindas of applications.
Even Windows is capable of a mostly predictable behavior when you click on the re-size buton! How hard can it be to make one click send an OS-X window to full screen and the next click to make it about half that size? It would be better if it toggled between just big enough to remove the scroll bar(s) and something about half that size. But almost any predicable behavior would be better than what we get now.
Am I missing something? For the life of me I can't understand why other Mac users don't complain about this. Why doesn't this come up in the otherwise highly detailed and nit-picking reviews of OS-X that we get from the (excellent) likes of Siracusa?

I'm taking gumsie's advice and will submit feedback to Apple. I think this is as close to an "answer" as we're going to get on this subject at this time. I will suggest increasing the predictibility and usefulness of the zoom button in the manner I described in my last post. I actually did provide feedback on this issue in 2004 but, obviously, it didn't convince.

  • Why won't windows xp disk check complete until firefox cache is cleared?

Windows disk check with the fix unchecked is handy to use as a quick way to verify the disk is ok without a restart. Some time back, it started always stopping in phase 2 (index verification) with the "windows cannot complete the disk check". Running it with the fix box checked (which of course requires a restart) it ran. But I got the same result immediately after running the repair.I had set the problem aside but today started googling the problem and found a site where someone discovered that clearing the Firefox cache fixed this. Well, that seemed pretty stupid and unlikely to me, but I figure I had little to lose but time.
Well what do you know? Clearing the Firefox cache allowed the check to complete properly!
Question: Why is this? This implies that something of Firefox is running even when Firefox is not "running". Are we locking sectors somehow? Is the cache marked in some way that stops the disk check? Inquiring mind(s) want to know!

  • Why won't Windows 7 permit my CC programs to be the default programs for file types?

I just uninstalled all of my CS6programs to free up disk space. But now....Windows 7 will not associate JPG, JPEG, GIF, TIFF, INDD, etc. (the typical file types) with my CC programs, -- all of the file types which had previously been associated with my CS6 programs!! Don't misunderstand: I can open the actual file(s) just fine from within the programs themselves, but if I am browsing through my folders, and select a file and try to open from Windows Explorer, it has now been associated with Windows Photo Viewer. And when I try to manually associate the file types with my CC programs, not only are the programs not amongst the choices, Photoshop and InDesign won't remain as my chosen program when I browse through to fine the EXE file!! This is NOT good. This is going to seriously eat into the efficiency of my work flow.

Windows only stores a file type connection for one application. It sounds like your installation of the CC apps didn't update the file type to themselves so when you uninstalled your CS6 apps, Windows just disconnected the association of the file types completely.
What you'll need to do is either reinstall the CC apps to make the connection again or you can manually reassign the file types to the associated program. Watching the video here, http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/change-which-programs-windows-uses-by-default, will show you how to change the file associations.

  • Why won't tracker icon in tray open?

    Acrobat Pro V 11.0.10.32
    Windows 7 Pro w/SP1  64bit
I can open tracker from within Acrobat Pro... (Comment->Track Reviews)
However, none of the means to open the tracker or its preferences from the tracker tray icon work; i.e., neither of the following work
        - on hover the icon says "double click tray icon to open tracker" or
       - on right click the icon provides a menu to Open Tracker or to Open Preferences
    Any hints?
I recently uninstalled Adobe Reader leaving just Pro installed because Reader was being run when I did a print-to-PDF w/the PDF print option to "View Adobe PDF results" checked even though I'd set the Pro preferences such that Pro is the default PDF handler in Pro's Preferences->General panel. Not sure this has anything to do with the tracker issue but at least Pro now runs as I'd expect after printing.
    Thanks
    Alex

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
    Post back with the result.

  • When is a reset not a reset? And why won't Windows or Itunes see my Ipod???

I'm having problems with my brand new 5G 60GB Ipod, lovely little beast it is. For th first few days all has been perfect with the exception of album artwork not transferring from Itunes to the Ipod, I've done this manually, what a chore but the results are worth it with 4000 songs.
Now Windows can't see the Ipod, nor can Itunes This seems to be happening since I ran the inbuilt Ipod diagnostics, a good idea according to a forum I read...AND when ejecting the Ipod using the Windows system tray thingy, it can take 5 minutes, and even then after physically disconnecting the Ipod, it is frozen on the "Do Not Disconnect" screen, and needs resetting. hence my Thread topic:
I noticed that following the typical reset instruction, if you take your fingers off the buttons as described, then it appears to do a "soft" reset, as soon as the Apple Ico appears. BUT...if you keep holding down the buttons for say another 5 or so seconds it appears to do a "Hard" reset, the screen goes totally blank and you can feel the hard drive immediately spin down. Then it reboots normally. Just for curiosity, and seeing this probably has nothing to do with my Ipod's problem above, and I can't seem to find anything on this anomoly, I was wondering what it all means.
A bit analous to the difference between restarting your PC, and holding down the power button till it does a hard reset, I guess.
Any comment or assistance on my problem will me much appreciated. I don't want to lose 4 days and 4000 songs if I don't have to!

Can't see your iPod in iTunes or Windows Explorer? Remember these five basic suggestions when you run into a problem with your iPod. If one of the following doesn’t help, read on for solutions to specific problems. If Windows sees the iPod but iTunes 7 does not, then see this article first (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304434).
Tip: Check Device Manager first (right-click on My Computer, choose Manage, and then select Device Manager). If no devices appear in the Windows Device Manager, go here (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302898)
Before starting, make sure your iPod is fully charged and then toggle the Hold switch on and off.
Reset, Retry, Restart, Reinstall , Restore
Go here (http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/) to go through the 5 R's of iPod troubleshooting. If you're still experiencing the issue after going through each of the steps, then continue on for more suggestions.
    Still can't see your iPod?
Several things could keep iPod from appearing in iTunes or Windows Explorer. The most likely causes are listed below—you'll find information for both USB and FireWire (IEEE 1394) iPod connections. Check each one starting from the top of the list to see if that is what's keeping iPod from appearing.
our computer doesn't meet iPod system requirements
Make sure that your computer meets the system requirements to use iPod for Windows.
Your iPod displays an exclamation point folder or sad iPod icon, or doesn't appear in iTunes or My Computer
If your iPod displays a folder with an exclamation point icon or a sad (unhappy) iPod icon on its screen, or if your iPod doesn't appear in iTunes or My Computer, follow these instructions to resolve the issue. (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61771)
Your iPod isn't formatted for Windows
iPod for Windows Software only recognizes iPod for Windows. You cannot use iPod for Macintosh with a Windows PC. To see which platform your iPod is formatted for, follow these instructions. (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61672)
Your iPod isn't connected to a high-power USB port
If you're connecting an iPod, iPod mini, or iPod shuffle to your Windows computer, make sure that you're connecting it to a high-power USB 2.0 port on your computer (not a low-power one such as the USB port on your keyboard or bus-powered USB hub).
Typically, USB 2.0 high-power ports are located directly on your computer. Try connecting your iPod to another USB port on the computer (or to a self-powered USB 2.0 hub that's connected to a high-power USB 2.0 port on your computer) if the computer still doesn't recognize your iPod. Alternatively, if your computer has a FireWire connection, try using that instead.
If you're connecting an iPod, iPod mini, or iPod shuffle to a Windows laptop computer through USB, connect the laptop to a power outlet before connecting your iPod.
and the answer to yoru question about a hard and soft reset....
a hard reset is for when your ipod is totally locked up and a soft reset wont work for it. just like if your computer is completely frozen you cant do ctrlaltdel to close all programs and stop messing up your computer...you have to restart the computer by pushing the power button down for like 10 sec. that is the only difference all does the same thing just when a soft reset wont work and your ipod is completely locked up you do a hard reset. good luck hope that helps ya out

  • Why won't Windows 7 install?

I'm trying to install Windows 7 via Boot Camp from an external optical drive onto a new SSD that I've installed in place of the old optical drive. The drive is recognized by the computer, and is completely empty. I have a disc with the Windows drivers, burned in Boot Camp, and a CD with Windows 7 on it. Everything goes fine until the computer restarts to boot the Windows install disc. When it turns on again, it loads a screen that looks like the normal boot screen with the Apple logo, except it cycles between three icons: the normal Apple logo, a circle with a line through it, and a folder with a question mark. At this point I just have to shut down and try again. I've tried booting while holding down cmd-opt-p-r, which doesn't seem to do much. I've tried deleting the partition that Boot Camp made on the SSD, reformatting the drive to MS-DOS (FAT) and trying the installation that way, nothing quite seems to work. The Windows 7 disc I'm using is brand new straight from Best Buy, so the problem must be the SSD, I think. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Got it working, had to go to the start menu and do a search for "Apple Software Update" and update Quicktime - had an old version that wasn't getting updated. Itunes works without problem now.

  • Why Won't Mail Icon Stay in Dock Where I Place It?

on Mac G5 Power PC 10.5.8. My Mail icon keeps moving to the right most position on my dock (dock is at bottom of screen) and will only stay in dock while the Mail application is open. When I close Mail, the icon completely disappears. I want my Mail icon to appear on the left side of the dock. When I drag mail icon to left, after a few seconds it automatically moves to the right end (next to the left side of the separator in the dock).
I would appreciate some help. Happened only after I updated to 10.5.8. Thank you. Dale (see my other dock-related issue with my Intel iMac - also after I updated to 10.5.8).

I did exactly as you described, locating the plist file and moving it from Library/Preferences to the desktop. I logged out, logged back in, and Mail started on the left side of my Dock and then promptly shot to the right. It is now to the left of a Google quick search box, an Applications Folder, a Documents folder, and a Downloads folder. I want the mail icon on the left side of my screen. How can I ensure that?

  • Why won't Windows 8 recognize my nano

I have a new gen7 nano that is not recognized by my computer.  I am running Windows 8 on my computer.  I uninstalled and then reinstalled itunes and have tried plugging into each of the usb ports in my computer.  My husband was able to open the nano on his computer, but the music I want is on mine!!  Any ideas or suggestions for what to try next?

  • Why won't my icons work?

I made this custom folder icon for all my InDesign files using a program called 'Folder Icon Maker' and when I goto paste the new icon on the folder, it just gives me the document icon.
Other icons that I've downloaded work fine though.

    Hi William
If icons you have downloaded work, but the one you made using 'Folder Icon Maker' doesn't, then either you made it incorrectly or that Application doesn't do as promised.
My advice is, given that there are 1000's of great icons already made and out there, surely there is one that you could happily paste on your Folder and save yourself time.

  • Why won't my Camera Attach with IMovie HD

    Hello,
I have been trying to attach a mini dv through my Camcorders with firewire and they have not been seen in IMovie. I have two cameras, both of which are IMovie HD compatiable and I have gotten each to work on my powerbook g4 before without any problems. My firewire cables are working (I have tried three and they all work perfectly).
I have been going through the discussions and trying everything that was suggested. I also have done everything in the articles and with the general help menus.
I heard that a software update might have been the original source for the problem. Is there a way to see if this is the problem?
Is there a way to see is the camera is actually hooked up and being read by the computer?
Any thoughts or suggestions are HIGHLY appreciated. This project I am working on is very important so I really am grateful for all of your time.

    Hi Mish,
I have the same problem, but I couldn't even find Utilities under my Applications folder in System profiler.
    shishamo
    Hello Zack,
the first thing to check is if your Mac actually
recognizes the camcorder. To do that open System
Profiler (Applications > Utilities) and see if it is
listed under Firewire. If that is not the case (and
you are sure the cable is not the culprit) you might
want to try resetting your FW port.
If the camera shows up, try the following:
. delete the iMovie preference file
    (com.apple.iMovie.plist) and empty the trash
. repair permissions with Disk Utility and reboot
. open Garageband and play a few notes, then close
    it.
. connect the camera, power it up, then launch iM
    hope this helps
