Why won't YouTube play my Apple TV? It just displays a constant loading circle.

I've seen this question asked before with no replies. Does anyone know? I have subscriptions that play fine on my iMac, iPad, iPad Air and iPhone, but in the last couple of months I only get the loading circle on my AppleTV.

I don't know why, but restarting my Apple TV device worked for me…..General -> Settings -> Restart.
And now I remember it worked for me in the past too. Makes no sense and I'll probably end up forgetting this petty kink in the future, but it's almost like if I don't use my Apple TV for a month or more I it seems to conveniently forgets my Youtube connections.

VLC Player... it will play just about any format under the sun.

If you can't get it to play from the disc directly, try copying the entire contents to the desktop and trying to run it from there. If it refuses to copy the disc, it usually means the disc is not readable. Could be dirty or damaged.

I recently just purchased a brand new Macbook Air for work. 4th Gen. It's awesome. However, I also recently discovered that almost no videos will play from YouTube. I'm using Safari. After finding this out, I went through all the troubleshooting steps. I reinstalled my Flash Player. I tried it from a different browser. I opted out of the HTML 5 trial on YouTube. I changed my firewall settings. I did a software update. Downloaded java. I emptied the cache. And still...nothing. Sometimes the advertisements will play through but then when it gets to the content, the message "An error occurred, please try again later." I can't even tell you how annoying this is after so many page refreshes. I figure it has to be something wrong in the Mac itself, but I can't figure it out. Please...someone help!

1. Enable Plug-ins
    Safari > Preferences > Security
    Internet Plug-ins > "Allow all other plug-ins
2. Reset Safari.
    Click Safari in the menu bar.
    From the drop down select "Reset Safari".
    Uncheck the boxes next to all items.
    Check the box next to "Remove all website data".
    Click "Reset".
3. Turn off Extensions, if any that may interfere with Flash working properly.
    Safari > Preferences > Extensions
     Now try YouTube.

Thanks .Ralph. The problem is only on the iPad 2only. I have an iPad 1 as well and it never had the problem. The only videos that I have tried are you tube and the tutorials on apple.com. I have absolutely no problem on either of my laptops or desktop PC's. Only the iPad 2. I am a new Apple user, so not very familiar yet with the product, but this is an absolute deal breaker for me. With Apple's reputation I was not expecting any such problems and it is beyond my skill set to solve it. Very frustrating. Again, no problem with you tube videos. I don't watch movies, so am not a Netflix member and haven't tried that yet, only you tube videos and apple.com tutorial videos. I have to watch those on my laptop. Again, I found a fix to the you tube problem. It was a link to a site. www.youtube/html5. html5 video player trial that you click on and once done, the videos on the you tube app started working great. They were doing the same thing as the tutorial videos prior to that. No such luck with the other web videos, at least the ones that i have tried. Hope this is enough info and understandable. You might check out the html5 site. I didn't thoroughly understand why, but it worked. You may understand it better. I am a proficient user, but far from an I.t. Pro. I have read Many posts with similar problems, but no simple solutions and the ones I did try didn't work. Speed tested well. Channel is set to auto and always different than neighboring networks, usually channel 11. Tried disabling QOS as suggested....no good. I am completely stumped. Any help is greatly appreciated. On another apple discussion page, a user--Charlicharli-- posted a link to download and everything seems to be fine now. Apparently we had to check with Lenovo. We were looking in all the wrong places for the fix!

What exactly is your problem? Is it, (a) your Mac doesn't read your external disk, or, (b) you can't retrieve your videos, or, (c) you can't play them, or, (d) you were able to play them at one point, but not any more.
What version of Mac OS X are you using, what app are you trying to play your videos with, what happens when you do, and what error messages, if any, do you get?

1) The Advanced Stream Redirector (ASX) format is not supported by QT X.
2) The Advanced Stream Redirector (ASX) format is not supported by QT 7 without third-party support such as the Fil4Mac WMV components.
3) Even the Flip4Mac WMV component only "supports a small subset of the ASX file format."
On my system:
1) Trying to play the file directly in QT X using the "Open Location..." option returns the fillowing message, "The movie 'mdsmarttool.asx' can’t be opened because the file is not in a format that QuickTime Player understands. The file may be damaged or may not be a movie file that is compatible with QuickTime Player."
2) Trying to play the file directly in QT 7 using the "Open URL..." option returns the following message in the "Inspector" window, "Movie Unavailable."
3) Trying to download the linked file does nothing. (Aborts action without any message.)
4) Trying to open the URL in Safari returns the following message, "The operation couldn't be completed. A Microsof Media Server (MMS) error was encountered. (-19160) Try again. If the problem persists, contact the website administrator."
Based on these results, it would appear that there may either be an access problem or a file type support problem.

Thanks. I just found it strange that it was one of many files that I ripped from a DVD ( part of a box set of a TV series, and all the others were fine so far. Funny that this one in particular was causing a problem.

You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):

and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.

I have it plugged in next to the computer and I turn it off after hitting Backup but it never completes.... Should I just give up and try to get my money back?

I'm having the same problem with my iPad (3). It's been saying that my last backup was 10/11/2012. I have tried rebooting (holding down the home and start keys to reset) and then trying to manually do a backup to the cloud. I have tried deleting the iCloud backups for all apps & setting all of them to not be included in the cloud backup (thinking that maybe one of the apps might be hanging the backup up). I have now deleted the last iCloud backup. I guess I will wait & see if it performs its backup overnight or something. As mentioned above, it has consistently been 1) plugged in, 2) connected to a wifi network, and 3) been in lock screen mode. And yet it hasn't been backing up either automatically (iCloud Backup is set to "on") or if I touch 'Back Up Now'.
Here's something that's really annoying- these posts started last April but I see no sign that anyone from Apple Support has joined this conversation. (!!)

Are you trying to transfer the GarageBand projects or the rendered audio files? What version of GarageBand do you have on your iPhone?
I do not think you can share your GarageBand projects from your iPhone to GarageBand on your Mac, unless you have iCloud, afaik, only the audio files.
How did you transfer the song?

Hi, my new ibook is already linked to my apple express. i just plugged in some computer speakers that i've had and i don't understand how i get itunes to play on my speakers. i've unplugged and plugged my express. i've also restarted my ibook as well as installed the software that came with airport express. HELP!!!

Go to iTunes >Preferences > Advanced and under the General tab, is "Look for remote speakers connected with AirTunes" selected?

Why won't QT play this .mov file?

The below movie won't play in iTunes, QT, QT 7 Pro, or VLC. QT says I'm missing a 3rd party add-on or plug-in. I've tried to convert it with DiVX and it goes through the process, but the resulting file opens as a movie, but only shows a black screen with the audio.
Can anyone tell me what is it about this file that makes it unplayable? Here's what's in the info window:\

Alright...some new info. I found two files in iTunes--one would play and the other wouldn't. I tried to open each in QT, QT 7 Pro, VLC, DiVX player, with the same results--one worked, one did not.
I opened Get Info on each .mov file and EVERY IMPORTANT DATA POINT was the same.
Kind: QuickTime Movie
Dimensions: 640 x 480
Codecs: H264, ACC
Color profile: SD (6-1-6)
Audio channels: 1
I could Read and Write on both.
So how would one file play and the other one just play audio?
I'm obviously missing something. I'd truly apprecate some insight.
