Why won't YouTube play on my new Macbook Air?

I recently just purchased a brand new Macbook Air for work. 4th Gen. It's awesome. However, I also recently discovered that almost no videos will play from YouTube. I'm using Safari. After finding this out, I went through all the troubleshooting steps. I reinstalled my Flash Player. I tried it from a different browser. I opted out of the HTML 5 trial on YouTube. I changed my firewall settings. I did a software update. Downloaded java. I emptied the cache. And still...nothing. Sometimes the advertisements will play through but then when it gets to the content, the message "An error occurred, please try again later." I can't even tell you how annoying this is after so many page refreshes. I figure it has to be something wrong in the Mac itself, but I can't figure it out. Please...someone help!

1. Enable Plug-ins
    Safari > Preferences > Security
    Internet Plug-ins > "Allow all other plug-ins
2. Reset Safari.
    Click Safari in the menu bar.
    From the drop down select "Reset Safari".
    Uncheck the boxes next to all items.
    Check the box next to "Remove all website data".
    Click "Reset".
3. Turn off Extensions, if any that may interfere with Flash working properly.
    Safari > Preferences > Extensions
     Now try YouTube.

Thanks .Ralph. The problem is only on the iPad 2only. I have an iPad 1 as well and it never had the problem. The only videos that I have tried are you tube and the tutorials on apple.com. I have absolutely no problem on either of my laptops or desktop PC's. Only the iPad 2. I am a new Apple user, so not very familiar yet with the product, but this is an absolute deal breaker for me. With Apple's reputation I was not expecting any such problems and it is beyond my skill set to solve it. Very frustrating. Again, no problem with you tube videos. I don't watch movies, so am not a Netflix member and haven't tried that yet, only you tube videos and apple.com tutorial videos. I have to watch those on my laptop. Again, I found a fix to the you tube problem. It was a link to a site. www.youtube/html5. html5 video player trial that you click on and once done, the videos on the you tube app started working great. They were doing the same thing as the tutorial videos prior to that. No such luck with the other web videos, at least the ones that i have tried. Hope this is enough info and understandable. You might check out the html5 site. I didn't thoroughly understand why, but it worked. You may understand it better. I am a proficient user, but far from an I.t. Pro. I have read Many posts with similar problems, but no simple solutions and the ones I did try didn't work. Speed tested well. Channel is set to auto and always different than neighboring networks, usually channel 11. Tried disabling QOS as suggested....no good. I am completely stumped. Any help is greatly appreciated. Gallery movie won't play properly on new Macbook Air

I uploaded a movie last night, but when I try to play it on my new Macbook Air, using Safari, it only loaded 1/4 the way and won't play any further. But it plays fine on my Windows computer. Every time I try to go back and play it, it gets stuck in the same place. It won't load any further, and I can't get it to reload from the beginning (where the loading progress bar starts at the very beginning). Google Chrome won't play it at all. I'm assuming this is a quicktime problem. I haven't done the last Mac OS update yet (I'm at work, my Macbook's at home). Any guesses on what I need to do? Just update the OS? And if I reinstall Quicktime, how do I do that?

I would not want to hazard a guess until I can check the instantaneous data rate at the time of the problem. Got the URL and a time where the file stops?

Safari won't load Facebook on my new Macbook Air.

I have just bought a new macbook air. (2011 release)
I have not been able to load facebook since i started using it. Every other website works fine. And I have tested FB on other PC's and my phone to make sure that it isnt just the site.
The page begins to load but stops about 1/4 of the way across the address box and then displays the error msg
Safari cant open the page because the server where the page is found is not responding.
I have tried turning my firewall on and off and deleting the history/cache/cookies

Why would I want Windows on my new MacBook Air?

I have a beautiful new MacBook Air and I'm running through all the Updates etc. Then I see Bootcamp which is supposed to help me install Windows. My question is, why would I want windows? Are there things that Windows can do that Mac can't do? Or do I just need to learn what the equivalents are of the old windows programs in my new operating system eg in windows i would use explorer to search the web - on my mac i use safari - are there equivalents to microsoft word and publisher and powerpoint just in Mac language and what are they called?

You can buy Microsoft Office for the Mac, but you should consider a number of better alternatives to Microsoft's bloatware. Some are free.

Why won't my iMac find my new MacBook on the network for Migration?

My older iMac (7,1) can't find my new MacBook Pro on the network. I've tried two different WiFi networks. I've ensured both machines are current in their SW. I can't use Ethernet because I didn't buy the Thunderbolt to Ethernet connector. The MacBook sees the iMac, but the iMac just keeps searching and after a while the MacBook displays a message that the iMac is not responding.
I believe I'm following the Migration Assistant directions properly, starting the app on the iMac and selecting migrate to a Mac, and then starting Migration Assistant on the MacBook and selecting migrate from a Mac or PC.
It used to be that I could connect the two via FireWire and start up the older Mac while holding down the "t" key and the newer machine would see the older machine as a disk drive. Without FireWire on the new machine could I use a USB connection the same way?

Lessons Learned:
Thunderbolt to FireWire is only for FireWire 800 so doesn't help connect to older FireWire 400 disks. (Apple Store employee says there is a FireWire 800 to FireWire 400 converter, they just didn't have it in stock.) My iMac has a FireWire 800 port, but I didin't have a FireWire 800 cable. (I'm opposed to buying one time use things, like the Thunderbolt to FireWire adapter, FireWire 800 to 400 adapter, or a FireWire 800 cable.)
Be sure to pay attention to migration direction. You can migrate either direction, but you probably don't want to migrate from a new machine to an old one.
If you have the same user id on both machine you cannot migrate into the user id you're logged into on the new machine. Might be better to first create a dummy id on the new machine, migrate all old id's over, and then delete the dummy id. Obviously I didn't do this.
If you have a wireless router with multiple ethernet ports you can connect the two machines to the router, ignore the wireless network, and connect via ethernet. I could not connect the two machines just running an ethernet cable between the two. (I think someone suggested that.)

Why Won't Videos Play On Fox News?

I saw this was asked some time back and they said to clear History. I did what they said and still they won't play. Issue just started today.

Thanks - but not sure why this did not affect Internet Explorer as well. It has to be a Firefox issue; not a Flash issue. I will remove the 11.3 and look back to previous version or just - for the time being - just forget videos on Fox News or got to I E to see them. But noticed that this has happened with Fox and Firefox in the past as well. Thanks again.

Why won't YouTube play my Apple TV? It just displays a constant loading circle.

I've seen this question asked before with no replies. Does anyone know? I have subscriptions that play fine on my iMac, iPad, iPad Air and iPhone, but in the last couple of months I only get the loading circle on my AppleTV.

I don't know why, but restarting my Apple TV device worked for me…..General -> Settings -> Restart.
And now I remember it worked for me in the past too. Makes no sense and I'll probably end up forgetting this petty kink in the future, but it's almost like if I don't use my Apple TV for a month or more I it seems to conveniently forgets my Youtube connections.

I bought a song on iTunes recently. It played a few times, but yesterday when I tried to play it the song wouldn't play. I checked it again today and it still won't play. When I sync my ipod it won't show up either. Please help, i'm not good with computers and I have no clue what to do!

I will try that on my Macbook Pro when I get home, if I can figure out how to do it (some more detailed instructions would help. . .). The problem I'm having is songs I ripped from CDs into my iTunes library. The songs and CDs are all available for purchase on iTunes, so I'm not talking about some obscure music. iTunes recognizes them. Some of the songs from a given CD play; others do not. In two cases, entire albums won't play. were originally ripped from CDs into my iTunes library on an HP computer running Windows 7 (my Macbook doesn't have a CD drive). All of the songs appear and play fine there. However, the "grayed out" iCloud icon problem exists (and I can't play those songs) on my Macbook, my iPhone 5S or on my PC at work - which leads me to believe it's an iCloud or iTunes problem. . .

What exactly is your problem? Is it, (a) your Mac doesn't read your external disk, or, (b) you can't retrieve your videos, or, (c) you can't play them, or, (d) you were able to play them at one point, but not any more.
What version of Mac OS X are you using, what app are you trying to play your videos with, what happens when you do, and what error messages, if any, do you get?

On another apple discussion page, a user--Charlicharli-- posted a link to download and everything seems to be fine now. Apparently we had to check with Lenovo. We were looking in all the wrong places for the fix!
