Why wont a link open the web pages in 3.6.13?

os snow leopard
hyper links when clinked dont open in firefox 3.6.13

I knew AVG Safe Search couldn't be the problem because I had uninstalled it! Guess what. It was uninstalled, all right, but the add-on to Firefox was still there, disabled. That uninstall was grayed out.
I re-enabled it and disabled it, this time it said it would be uninstalled the next time I restarted Firefox. So I did that. Nothing changed. However, this time I noticed that just above the restart message was a place to click restart. That restart worked!
Some people just know how to write obtuse software messages.

  • How to check the properties or the source file or the HTML coding of any particular link on the web page?

Earlier when I wanted to see the HTML coding of any link on the web page, I was able to see it but now I am not able to do that. Like earlier I used to right click on the link and there was an option of "View Properties" through which I was able to view it but now no such option is coming. Can you please help me out with this as I am facing many Problems?

If you were using Apple's BootCamp and received this message, quit it and open Disk Uility in your Applicaitons/Utilities folder.
Select the Macintosh HD partition on the left and select Erase and Erase Free Space > Zero option and let it complete (important) this will check the spare space for bad sectors that can cause issues formatting partitions.
Once it's completed, try creating a partiton again in BootCamp.
If that doesn't work, then hold command option r keys down while connected to a fast internet connection, Internet Recovery should load (spinning globe) and then in that Disk Utility, select your entire internal drive and click > First Aid > Repair Disk and Permissions.
    reboot and attempt Bootcamp again.
If you still get a error, it might be that you have OS X data on the bottom area where BootCamp partition needs to go. This would occur if you had the drive or computer for a long time or wrote a large amount of files to the drive and nearly filling it up and then reduced some, but it left traces in the area BootCamp needs to go.

  • Haveing problems with Safari. It gives me an error message. Safari can't open the web page, because it can't establish a secure connection to the server. It only seams to have a problem on https sites. Any help would be apreciated.

Safari keeps giving  and error message. " Safari can't open the web page( insert web page here) , because it can't establish a secure connetion to the server.
It only seams to have a problem with https sites.
    Any help would be appreciated

The "s" in "https" indicates the site is a secure server--usually a site that will require a password.  Connections to secure servers can be blocked by parental controls.  Are you using any parental controls, either through OSX's settings (in System Preferences) or third party parental control software (such as Netnanny)?  If so, check the settings to make sure they will allow the connection.

Do you have any anti-virus running. I've seen some reports on here where av software can sometimes prevent connections to certain sites.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • Why is my browser opening the last page visited. How do I change it? I don't want it to do that

Every time I bring up my browser since I installed the newest version on Firefox it keeps re opening the last page or pages visited. How do I change the settings so this does not continue?

Tools > Options > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my home page" or "Show a blank page"
If that setting is OK then make sure that Firefox closes properly.

  • When Firefox 5 opens the web page is too wide for the window and only half is displayed. How can I correct this?

The web page is offset to the right so that only the left half is visible in the Firefox window. As soon as I start to re-size the window (bottom RH corner) the page snaps into place and all is ok. It only happens when I launch the browser.
I did not experience this with version 4.

  • Why won't Firefox open a web page if there's an apostrophe in the URL?

When I click on a link and the underlying URL contains punctuation, specifically an apostrophe, I get a page not found error. Both Safari and Chrome handle these URLs seamlessly.

If it is a server-side problem, why do I have no difficulty when I use Safari? It is difficult for me to argue with them that it is THEIR problem, if the problem exists only for Firefox users. I have seen others comment on it recently also. It seems to me that Firefox needs to change something to allow a link with an apostrophe to resolve properly.
Thanks for your response, but it does not solve anything.

  • Broken links on the web page :(

    Hi Guys
I have been chasing this for a few weeks now & no one seems very interested in the issues with the web site
    On this web page
    http://www.palm.com/au/support/treo680/downloads/680mr_win.html
    Their is a link
    Download: Treo680_2_12_ROW_desktopupdater.zip
    The HTML is
    javascript&colon;NewWindow('/au/support/downloads/legal.html','560','420','1')
    Unfortunately the page
    /au/support/downloads/legal.html
    Does not exist.
So my customer (yes I'm a palm developer) cant download the file.
Does anyone know how to contact
    1. A person at Palm ?
    2. The webmaster at Palm ?
    3. Someone in support at Palm ?
    4. How to get the file without accessing the palm site.
Palm has really changed over the years & this is really disappointing !!!
    TIA
    NG
PS - Palm - Pls. note my customer is not prepared to pay for support to have this rectified as you have previously suggested

    Hi Guys
My customer has been doing some digging & has asked me why these posting in early 2009 are still causing problems, thats 6 months ago
    http://forums.palm.com/palm/board/message?board.id=support_downloads&thread.id=8554
Looks like Palm are not going to fix these issues if they have been outstanding for more than 6 months !!!!
What should I tell my customer ???
    TIA

  • Why won't Safari open a web page when I click on it using Windows XP?

I prefer to use Safari as my primary browser for my Windows XP laptop.  Recently, there has been no response when I click on the browser.  When I click on it, it opens up fine, but it does not pull the Apple Home Page, or any other web pages.  It seems to be lag, but nothing happens even after refreshing the browser, clearing the cache and history, resetting it, repairing it, and even removing and reinstalling it.  I have deleted any third party applications that may be affecting it, and I downloaded and installed the most current version of Safari.  I can surf the web fine with other browsers.  I do not get any error messages, it just stays in "thinking mode".  I've even tried using it in Safari's safe mode, only to have the same results.
I've checked for viruses and malware -- none found, and my Internet Security (Kaspersky) is up-to-date, and has never been an issue before.  A system restore did not even fix the problem.  I've run out of options, and was recommended by Apple to join this community for further assitance, and hopefully a resolution.
I hope everyone has a Happy T-Day too!

Create a new Windows User account with full administrative rights. Log out of your usual account and log into the new account. (Don't use fast user switching to move between accounts.)
Try launching Safari in the new account. Does it launch there, or do you get the same sort of behavior as in the usual account?
I did exactly that, and the same thing happened, only this time, the toolbar was missing (File, Edit, View, etc. options).  The URL still showed up, but still stuck in "thinking mode."  Same thing happened when I tried a search in the search bar.
This is not how I intented to spend my Thanksgiving!
