Why wont apple just give me a new MBP? my screen is messed up! 3 months old

I wrote a post about this a couple weeks ago.
I'm experiencing screen tearing on my screen of my 15'' MBP. Every now and then, and small/thin black line will flash for a microsecond across my screen. It can be anywhere on the screen and it is totally random.
When i take it to Apple, i'm told that they were informed its just a software issue and to "watch for updates". Are you kidding me? I have a computer that I paid $2100 for and you're telling me to "watch for updates"?
I know that ALL macbook pro's arent doing this. Why not give me one that works or fix mine? I have 9 months left on my warranty!
Any input anyone? Can't i speak to a supervisor and get a new one?

I'm really surprised that you were told to just wait for an update. Are you using a particular piece of software that causes this? If "application X" causes the issue then maybe they are right and you need an update to run the software normally. But let's assume that's not it unless you say differently.
Here's a couple things:
1) I get that you are upset, but don't freak out. It's not going to make the rep on the phone help you anymore.
2) Is there a mac store near you? If so, make a genius bar appt. and go there.
3) If not call Apple and tell them your problem. Calmly. Not in a "you guys won't help me!" way. Tell them you want to send it in (because you have no store close to you. If you do have a store close to you see #2) so they can fix it. Firmly but politely let them know that this is a real problem. Don't ask for a NEW computer. The fact is, you don't need a NEW computer, you need yours fixed.
4) If they do not help you then ask to speak to a supervisor and repeat.
It's very important that you stop asking for a new computer. That isn't how it works. Anywhere. You just need yours fixed. If there really is a software upgrade needed ask them to explain it to you so you understand the problem. But most importantly stay calm.

    About the downgrade method of life hacker, if you're really not good in those things you might actually ruin your pc like my friend who tried it, she lost her wifi on her notebook, i had to help her find the installer of the driver again. this happened after she tried to install that libusb that is needed to run the application for exit recovery mode and other stuff.
    Yes iOS 4.1 is out but contacts disappearing? And who knows what more problems it brings. I was even peeking around the iphone 4 forums it seems that they are not doing well either.
    Anyway mine is all fine except that im afraid to use wifi or any apps that needs internet connection because everytime i do, my 3gs gets very very hot. I have already done the basic solution suggested by apple (factory reset, start from new iphone) but its still the same.
    And another thing, the multitasking is getting annoying, you have to manually close all apps in the 'multitasking background' everytime you decide to quit an app. I guess they should put a 'Disable multitasking' or something like that.

    If you are having problems it is NOT from 4.0; there is something else wrong with your phone. There are plenty of troubleshooting tips in the forum if you look.

    NO YOU DO NOT. Those apps in the ribbon are not multitasking, they are suspended. You can ignore them and they won't hurt battery life or memory, unless they are streaming apps like Pandora.
    It's amazing. For 3 years people screamed about the fact that the iPhone didn't support multitasking. Now they scream because the phone DOES multitasking. You can't win.

    Depends on the person you talk to, they might get you a freebie or they might charge you a small fee...
    Most certified Apple technicians can also provide you with a spare screw... just look up your closest  tech.

    This has been happening to me lately too.  The workaround I've been doing is quitting iTunes and reopening it.  After that, my AppleTV finds it right away.  Unfortunately, it's a temporary solution because it's happening every time I want to watch anything.

    Why wont apple let me get an apple ID without a "no credit card" suggestion in the payment method?
    I dont buy my apps and I dont understand why my sister (and other people) were able to make an apple ID without putting a credit card.
    Though I can enter my apple ID account when it comes to the game center, when I try to download an app that problem always appears. So now I'm using my sister's ID, but I really want to have my own. 

    Follow it through to the payment methods and choose None if it is available.

    Why wont apple let you disable or unregister from gamecenter?! Iv done everything I can but games log into it reactivated its notifications aswell. It auto logs me back in...I want apple to let you unregister completely why not?? I have disabled all notifications from Gamecenter romoved all games listed, i deleted my email adress registered, i changed my user name...and loged out but games reactivate it, I also noticed it still keeps a record of your previous score and when reactivated relists all games on your handset again aswell.

    I feel the same way -- I would REALLY like to remove this misbegotten piece of junk completely. I would SETTLE for being able to disable it -- although there are instructions for "disabling" it, it doesn't STAY disabled. I have followed the instructions, removed my email address (although it still uses my email address as the login and won't allow me to ACTUALLY remove it), made my profile private, then signed out... And the next time the device is powered back on, the account is logged in again and insisting on trying to connect to every game I play. So I deny access, "disable" it, sign out, etc, again... ad infinitum, ad nauseum.
    When the rest of my family switched to android, I stubbornly stayed with my beloved iOS devices and my Macs, but this annoyance -- which WILL NOT go away -- almost makes me think I should reconsider. I HATE Game Center, and want it off my devices.

    This is a user to user forum.  Apple isn't here and won't answer you.  You need to contact Apple directly.  You can use the Contact button at the bottom of the screen.

    Jim Level 5 person ....I am very happy for you that your usage will not be affected, please accept my  congratulations.
    Now I have to point out that going ballistic has certain connotations but posting on an internet forum is not one of them.
    I appear to be one of thousands who are all expressing their outrage in a rational and intelligent manner which cannot be said for your lebvel 4 + collegues on this forum.
    Finally there has been an ongoing issue wiith the iPad 3 Wifi on certain wifi only models , I have not encountered it and it seems clear neither have you. That of course does not discount the fact that many others have experienced this issue , an issue which may reveal itself to you or I in the future particularly as I have only been using mine for a fortnight.

    If you didn't cause the problem and the charger is in warranty, take it to any Apple Store or reseller and you will get a new charger for free.

    You have to go to Settings>iCloud and tap Delete Account, then sign back in with your updated credentials.  This deletes the account and your synced data from your device, but not from iCloud.  Provided you are signing back into the same account and not changing to a different account, your data will be synced back to your device when you sign back in.

  • Slight yellow/pink tinge to new MBP 15" Screen?

    I just recently bought the new MBP. The colors are spectacular, but when using white background, like in word or the Google opening search page, the "white" background isn't nearly as white as my MBP 15" Late 2008 model. However, the colors are much richer on the newer model, reds, yellows, orange and greens....no comparison. The model is 9CA4, which I believe is Samsung, but not sure.
    Can this slight, not terrible but noticeable, tint be corrected with calibration without compromising the other colors. I probably wouldn't have noticed it much had I not seen the comparison, but would like to slightly whiten up the white.
    I don't have trained or great eyes for doing an expert mode calibration and don't want to buy a whole calibration system just for this. Would anyone have a Calibration Profile for this screen that I could try or any other suggestion.

    I did download someone's display profile for the 9CA3 screen and it brought out more white, but the colors were over saturated for my taste. I suppose the two screens are not the same or it's a matter of taste. I like the colors I've got, but just want to heighten the white.
