  • Why has iTunes stopped recognising my iPod Classic?

I have iTunes running on a 64-bit Windows 7 system. iTunes itself works fine, but when I hook up my iPod Classic 160gb, it doesn't recognise it. I get a message saying "The software required for communicating with the iPod is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes to install the iPod's software." Over the past few days, iTunes has been uninstalled and re-installed a dozen times - all to no avail. It has been uninstalled in the correct order - (iTunes; Quicktime; Apple software update; Apple mobile device support; Bonjour; Apple application support). The thing is, iTunes was recognising the iPod until last week. The only thing I can think of what started the problem was when I originally uninstalled iTunes from my D drive to my C drive. I have since taken my computer to an IT expert in town to see if there is anything wrong with the operating system, which I was assured there is not. He also cleared any remnants of iTunes / Apple software hanging over from previous installs, so I was starting with a clean slate, as it were. But the same message keeps popping up. I can see the iPod in My Computer, by the way. It's just iTunes that doesn't recognise it. Have spoken to Apple support, but to no avail. I am at a loss of what to do - can anyone please help?

Seems like iTunes doesn't like beeing reinstalled on a different drive .
Probably you have to go the hard way: Re-Install Windows 7, iTunes and everything else you need

  • HT1386 Why wont itune acknowledge that my ipod is plugged in!?

I recently downloaded the latest update to itunes on my laptop and now it wont acknowledge that my ipod is plugged in and therefore it now wont sync. My laptop recognises it is plugged in as it comes up with an 'apple ipod' icon. Any one know how i can get it to work again? I uninstalled itunes and re-installed it and that didnt work so now im stuck!!

See TS1538: iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows, in particular section 5.

  • Why no FM tuner for the iPod Classic?

    Hi
I've been considering making the big conversion from PC to Mac for a while now (heard good things from my sister and suffered through Vista for 4 years) BUT my conversion hinges upon my music collection which is currently 18gb (and the majority of it transferred from my CD collection). Therefore I'm only thinking of an iPod Classic. My current mp3 player (Creative 30gb dino that's not compatible with Windows 7) has an FM tuner which is essential. The iPod Classic does not.
Why doesn't the iPod Classic have a built-in FM tuner like those miniscule you'll-lose-it-in-the-wash iPod Nanos? Are they just trying to keep the Classic classic? Would putting the FM tuner in a Classic not fit, even though it fits in 16gb Nanos?
I won't ask if they're going to put in one because that's speculation and from what I've read violates the terms of questions one can ask here.

You might still be able to find Apple's iPod FM Radio Remote accessory, or a third party alternative.

  • Why wont my itunes recognise my iphone? its telling me to restore back to factory settings but know this i will loose everything!! ??

Itunes wont recognise my iphone, I went to connect to update the software of my iphone and it's not recognising my iphone now an errror meesage appears stating that it does not recognise my iphone?
I really dont want to restore back to factory settings and loose all my info!

Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything...
To minimise loss... Connect to iTunes on the computer you Usually Sync with and Restore from the most recent Backup...

  • WHY WONT MY 3RD GENERATION 8GB IPOD TOUCH UPGRADE TO 4.3.3 ?

I HAVE BEEN TRYING BUT ITUNES DOESNT SEEM TO SHOW THE MESSAGE THAT AN UPDATE IS AVALIABLE FOR YOUR IPOD TOUCH :S

There never were any 3rd-generation 8GB iPod touches sold, the erroneous information given out by some dealers notwithstanding. You have a 2nd-generation iPod touch as far as the hardware goes, so the last version of iOS your device will be able to run is iOS 4.2.1.

  • Why wont the centre of my ipod touch work?

i just got a ipod, but it is a re-furbshed one, and the centre of the screen and the top line of the keyboard won't work... i have tried re loading it and re starting, but it just lets me type everything else except that top line...help pleasee?!? xxx

If you restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod and still have the problem, it is like caused by a hardware problem.  If you are within the warranty period go back to the people who sold it to you. Otherwise, including if you purchased it from Apple, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Why wont apps store load on ipod5 wifi is on and signal is good

Why wont apps store load on ipod 5. wifi is on and signal is good

Using the battery level meter in this manner is comparable to using your car's fuel gauge to calculate miles per gallon.  The only thing that matters is the total amount of operating time from full charge to auto-shutdown.
Use the wall-mount charger that came with the iPad and charge overnight.  Admittedly the labeling is hard to read but, if you use a magnifier and squint your eyes, you'll see "Output 5.1V, 2.1A."  The symbol between volts and amps is the symbol for DC.  Do NOT use an iPhone charger.  Do NOT use an iPod charger.  Do NOT use a computer's USB port.  Then, operate it normally until auto shut-down (ignore any low level alerts that may appear).  An irony is that doing that test to determine the total operating time is also the exact procedure necessary to calibrate the battery level meter.
I'm not claiming that you do not have a problem.  I am stating, however, that we don't yet know whether or not a battery problem exists.
    According to Apple:
    Use Your iPad Regularly
For proper reporting of the battery’s state of charge, be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).
Elsewhere, Apple elaborates and explains that two half-discharges (or four quarter-discharges, etc.) equals one full discharge.
