Why wont iphone link to gmail account?

I have tried both the gmail icon and the add new account feature but no luck with both. I keep getting the ssl connection failed and it says it cannot connect using ssl.

ok, delete the account of what ever you did on both. Only enter it on the iphone first, go to settings, mail, add account, select gmail and start again. You may have entered conflicting info from doing both ways. Make sure you click save at top right when done.

Its a easy fix,it will take too much time to type out all of the steps,
Check your email account. see if they are their, You can then import them on your DAV card, The best thing to is add them to icoud then they will be safe.
Apple support can talk you through it.

Sure. You can access the same email account with an email client on different computers and with the iPhone's Mail app on different iPhones.

Why wont iphone 4S sync with itunes 10.7?

My iphone 4S wont sync with itunes on my computer. Message says I need to download itunes 10.6 or later. I have downloaded 10.7 but I still get same message. Have tried shutting down and start again.

Probably your update was not successfull and one of the iTunes components is stuck on an older version. What you can do here is uninstall all components according to the Apple instruction. It is well possible, that the defective component cannot be uninstalled, then you'll need to repair it first. Sometimes even that does not help. If that is the case you will have to contact Applecare and ask them to provide again the version you are stuck on of the component, that is causing issue. You would then install that version again, which will enable you to repair and then uninstall. Once your PC is clean again you can freshly install the lastest iTunes.

I can't link my gmail account to my iPad 2.

I have put in my email address and password but I keep getting the message "the user name or password for "imap.gmail.com" is incorrect".
I have generated an application specific password in Google and tried that as well but I still get the same message when I substitute this for my normal password in the iPad 2.
Any help would be gratefully recieved!

Its pretty much a straightforward process to add an email account to the iPad. If you have having problems, maybe the best thing to do is to delete the count, restart the iPad and start all over again.

One of the most frequently made mistakes with setting up email accounts would have to be using the wrong case letter in the wrong spot. Make sure that you enter capital letters or lower case letters where they should be.

The Apple logo will Appear and then Disappear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds...
Release the Buttons...

I knew AVG Safe Search couldn't be the problem because I had uninstalled it! Guess what. It was uninstalled, all right, but the add-on to Firefox was still there, disabled. That uninstall was grayed out.
I re-enabled it and disabled it, this time it said it would be uninstalled the next time I restarted Firefox. So I did that. Nothing changed. However, this time I noticed that just above the restart message was a place to click restart. That restart worked!
Some people just know how to write obtuse software messages.

2 iphones, 1 mac and 1 gmail account

My wife and I both have iphones and we also have an iMac. We have 1 "family" gmail account. I like the use of Gmail IMAP and how it "syncs" the emails on all the devices. But I would like to turn this option off? What happens is when my wife marks an email as read I don't end up seeing that message, and vice-versa.
What can I do? Is there a way to turn off the syncing? can I access gmail with POP?

You can't turn syncing off for server stored mailboxes with an IMAP account. If your wife reads an email with her iPhone, the message will be marked as read when checking the account's Inbox mailbox with your iPhone, and vice-versa.
Accessing an account as a POP account with one email client and as an IMAP account with another email client may work, but can also lead to potential problems.
Why not get your own Gmail account and have separate accounts?
