Why wont my 2nd generation ipod touch turn on anymore ?

why wont my 2nd generation ipod touch turn on ?

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Why wont my 4th generation ipod touch charge using a wall or car adaptor.

I recently received a brand new 8gb 4th generation ipod touch for christmas. It used to work fine and charge fine. Now it can only be charged in a computer. I have tried multiple adapters and charger cables and nothing works. It has nothing wrong with it other then this problem, no screen cracks, and everything else works fine. In comparison, my old 2nd generation ipod touch has a cracked screen and cant play music because the headphone jack is busted, and can still be charged just fine using a wall socket, car, or computer. I have restored it twice now to no avail. It is updated to most recent software as well. Please help me.

If you restored to factory defaults/new iPod then it appears you have a hardware problem. Look carefully at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, broken or cracked plastic pieces.
An appountment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store would be in order.

  • 2nd generation ipod touch wont turn on. The screen blinks but the apple icon doesn't show up.

I have a 2nd generation ipod touch that I got from a friend. I drove all the way across the country (three day trip) and it worked perfectly. It was in a hard case and has no damages to it. I haven't dropped it or gotten water on it at all. But for some reason the screen wont turn on. It blinks on and off when I plug it into the charger (and theres like a soft clicking noise that I hear when the screen blinks) but the apple logo wont show up. And it doesn't seem to actually be charging. It doesn't seem to actually die all the way either.... It's weird.. but I know no damages have happened to it so I don't know what to do. I've tried to reset it (pressing and holding the home and power buttons) but that wont work either. Help?

  • 2nd Generation iPod touch will not turn on

My 2nd Generation iPod touch will not turn on.  I have held the lock button down for up to 30 seconds and it remains a black screen.  When I put it on the charger, the screen usually shows the battery amount, but it will not do that either.  I checked the battery about 10 minutes before it began this, and it was about 75% charged.  There is no way it could be dead.  It will not even show the apple, as if it were powering on.

    - Connect the iPod to your computer.  If iTunes sees the iPod restore the iPod.
    - Next see if resetting the iPod will make the iPod visible so you can restore the iPod.
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next see if recoverymode  will make the iPod visible.  For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore

  • 2nd generation iPod touch doesn't turn on or respond to anything I've done so far. Any suggestions ???

I have two 2nd generation iPod touch's and both just stopped turning on, they don't respond to anything. I've tried everything I know of (hard resets, soft resets, pluging them to a wall charger and computer) and still haven't made any progress. Does anyone have any more suggestions for me ??
    Thanks for your help.

Seeing that your iPod has been through a lot of rough handling, there is a chance that it is at the end of its life. I recommend taking it in to an Apple Store and getting it looked at.

Why 2nd generation ipod touch not allowed to update its OS to IOS 5 or later? This limitation made that IPod more or less useless as updated apps cannot be installed.

Be sure to backup your current apps.  They can not be downloaded again,  Earlier iOS apps are becoming increasingly difficult to find.  You may want to look at VintApps, new in the Apple app store, that makes this much easier.

Although there are thousands of available apps to choose from, they will definitively not be the latest greatest.

    Error 1 or -1
This may indicate a hardware issue with your device. Follow Troubleshooting security software issues, and restore your device on a different known-good computer. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
Note The "May nned service" means a hardware problem.

  • Messaging app that works with 2nd generation ipod touch

I recently downloaded imessenger to my 2nd generation ipod touch but it was hours later and with the help of this forum, that I discovered it is not possible to use with my iOS.  Does anyone know of a texting app that I can use?

You neglected to mention that the Numark iM1 is a piece of hardware (a physical box) that plugs into an iPod.
Checking on the Numark website, I suspect they haven't bothered to update their "iPod compatibility" page, since there's no specific reason (as far as I'm aware) why an App that worked with a 2nd gen Touch shouldn't work with a 4th gen model. Is that page where you looked and were then prompted to ask your question?
You might have more success in finding an answer to your question by contatcing the manufacturer (Numark) via their website or checking with a retailer who stocks the iM1. Numark appear to welcome email contact about their products.

  • 2nd Generation Ipod touch stuck in recovery. PLEASE HELP!

    My 2nd Generation Ipod touch is stuck in recovery mode. At least i think it's recovery mode, the connect to itunes thing comes up and won't go away when I try to turn it on. I am willing to restore it but Itunes won't let me. When I press restore, an error comes up that says "The Ipod software update server could not be contacted." I have NEVER had any problems with this ipod before, except that it's a natural piece of crap, but yeah, it has worked completely fine until today when it randomly turned off (it may have died) and is now in recovery mode. It is not jailbroken or modified in any way. Also where Itunes usually gives you your ipod information I get this;
    Name: Ipod
    Capacity: n/a
    Software Version: n/a
    Serial Number: n/a
    Please help me....

    Try:
iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server

  • My 2nd generation ipod touch is frozen... help please?

I went to turn my 2nd generation ipod touch off by pressing the top button, and it is now frozen on the screen that has the "slide to power of" bar across the top and the "cancel" bar on the bottom. I have tried to press both buttons but nothing seems to happen... and it will not restart at all. I also tried plugging it into itunes and it WILL charge but not turn on at all. Any advice would be much appreciated!

    Hello, Welcome to discussions.
If you have done both the methods in the article below which looks like you have. Plus you connected to a power source and it is not progressing past current screen. You have a couple options.
    1. allow touch to drain the battery, then reconnect and allow it to charge
    2. Make an appointment at your local apple retail store and or contact your iPod Touch support group.
