Some folks have discovered that changing their DNS service fixes FaceTime connection issues.
The ideal way is to configure your modem/router with DNS service, but often settings in Settings/Wi-Fi on your iPad will override the router settings. Try either of these;
OpenDNS

Google Public DNS
8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4

You just aren't suppling us with enough information. Are you trying to connect to the WiFi at home or at work? Will other WiFi devices connect successfully with that WiFi access-point? Is your WiFi access point showing up on the list of available access points when you're trying to connect to it from the iPad, or are you being forced to manually enter it in? We really need more info about your specific situation before we can help.

Try #5.
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app
    •    Tap on Wi-Fi
    •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Can you please tell me why I can not connect to face time. It ask for me to put in my user name and password, then it searches. then it goes to the next screan where it said "People will call you using your email address. What would youlike to use?" then you hit next. It will say verifying and then it goes back to the enter Apple Id page. what is going on? Please help. I am getting very upset with the thin.

Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Featurs appin the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
- New cable and different USB port
- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

Unable to connect on face time

We have been trying to connect with Face Time to our family in Canada (not sure if that makes a difference - we are in the US). We can connect through our iPhone just not our iMac (OS X Lion). When we "dial" them, it says connecting, then "Face Time failed". Any suggestions?? BTW - family in Canada is using an iPad and can connect to others in Canada which is why I suspect that may be the culprit but I/we have absolutely NO idea! One more tid-bit, we have not tried to connect to anyone in the US as no one we know has Face Time.

As an update, I bought the WNDR3400v2 router and am supremely disappointed with its lack of power - but - the Lenovo W510 DOES work perfectly fine connecting to both the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz radios.
The problem is the signal strength only twenty feet away up one floor is dismal (as compared to what it was with the ancient Linksys WRT54G for example).
What bothers me is that Netgear goes to great lengths to hide the power output of the radio so I 'suspect' that it is anemic and I don't (yet anyway) suspect the radio on the W510 laptop. Netgear support would only tell me the EIRP at 2.4GHz is 20dBm, and at 5GHz it's double that. So I can only assume the power output from that. If I assume a 5dBi antenna gain for both frequencies, that results in a power output guesstimate of 15dBm (32mW) at 2.4GHz and double that at, i.e., 18dBm or 64mW, at 5GHz.
The other side of the equation, of course, is the power & gain of the W510 radio & antenna.
Do we have specs for the W510 power output & antenna gain (e.g., a typical laptop is about 50mW (roughly 15 to 18 dBm) pushed into an antenna with a gain of about 1/2 dBi to about 1 dBi at best, regardless of what the specification sheet intimates)?

To continue using FaceTime, you must update to iOS 6.1.6 since device certificate is expired.
(especially uploading photos for email)
And you can't use older version at all times.
(For me, I use newer version at all times)
