Why wont my iPhone turn on?

While I was at school, my iPhone 4 suddenly just shut off. I was just tossing it between my hands gently, and the screen turns black! When I push the lock button, you can see the screen turn from VERY dark blue to pitch black. Now after a few days, it wont even turn on. It only connects to itunes when its in DFU mode. I've tried:
Holding the home button and power button for 10 seconds
Plugging into a computer via USB
Plugging into a AC wall adapter
Getting it to DFU mode and restoring it
My iPhone 4 is out of the warrenty :\ So what are my options?

I got errors before, I forgot what numbers they were. But now I get errors like 18, 13? 9 (i think?).
When the iPhone isnt in DFU mode, the iPhone is generally cold. When its not in DFU, the display is off, unable to connect to itunes, but the iphone heats up quickly on the top right side. Does that have to do with anything?
And no, after I restore, switching the vibration switch does not make the iPhone vibrate or does it connect to iTunes. (After a full restore, I waited like 20 minutes for it to connect)

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I had a similar problem. The phone wouldn't turn on at all, though when I pressed the power button a white light would come on briefly, then one time it came on and stayed on, but that was all. I was told (by Verizon) that once the phone discharges all the way to zero it can be difficult to start up again even if it is plugged into the charger. Plugging it into the charger in the house didn't work, but I tried the car charger and it started charging right away. My theory is that the wall outlet charger does not have enough "oomph" to kick start the phone if it is totally depleted, but the car charger must have more (what? volts/amps I'm no electrical expert) whatever it needs to bring it back and start it charging. Once it got going (at 20%) I brought it back into the house and it charged OK. Wish I would've though of this when the other phone did this a few weeks ago! What I'm thinking is that the outlet charger needs to be redesigned to fix this problem. There is a very good chance that, no matter how good you are about keeping your phone charged, there will be that one time that it discharges down zero and then . . .

I have a windows 8.1 PC. I use it for work. I also have an iphone. Today, I updated the ios on my phone to 7.1. During the update, the phone was connected to my PC usb port with the apple charging cable to keep it charged. The update finished, and I noticed that the battery was at 66%. It was 100% before I started the update. There was no lighting bolt/charging symbol. I disconnected the phone from the computer. I plugged it into the apple wall charger. It charges from that. I tried another apple cable on the PC. Still no dice. I do get the sound from the PC that a device is being connected/disconnected when I plug/un-plug the cable from the phone on the PC. When the phone is connected to the PC, It won't show on "this PC" as any device. I did try re-starting the PC. I did update Itunes, and did a back up of my phone before the update, using the exact same cable.

What you could do is make an appointment at your nearest Apple store or Apple-authorized service center to have them diagnose the problem.

If you're unable to locate a nearby Wi-Fi network
