If you have Mountain Lion, and are having problems downloading the 10.8.4 update, try going to http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1659 and download and install the Combo update...that sometimes works better than the Software Update approach.

It's probably telling you that you need 1.5 more GB than you have available. Hook up your device to iTunes on the computer you sync with and do the update from there. OTA updates require a lot more memory than ones done via iTunes.

Could be a hardware problem.
First try a reset which is similar to a computer restart and is done by pressing and holding the home button and the sleep/wake or on/off button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and then release.

After you restored it to factory settings, did you restore as new or from a backup? If it was from a backup, I'd try restoring as new to see if, without any of your previous data, the issue persists:

on what version of osx are you using? recommended 10.9.4 you can upgrade for free as long as you have the app store
are you using imessage and not just sms? use your apple id to sign in on messages on your phone (settings)
imessage is blue bubble when you send a text sms is a green text bubble.

First try going to appleid.apple.com and reset your password.
After resetting you password, log into your account, at same site and go to manage my account.
Verify any info on account. Add/remove any relavant data. Remove any duplicate email address, make sure you have an additonal email aside from your apple id.
After verifying all this info, try accessing the app store with new password to update apps.
If unable to at this point and you can verify your identity with the serial number of a apple product registerd to you, verify your apple id, and the billing info on your account; you can call support at 1-800-APL-CARE and ask to speak to account security to reset security questions.

Why wont Illustrator CC let me use Alt + Scroll on my mouse to zoom in and out smoothly?

When i use Illustrator CS6 i am able to zoom in and out smothly by pressing my option key on my Mac and then scroll with my mouse. It wont let me do that in Illustrator CC, why not? Also i should not that this zoom does not use the zoom tool on the left hand tool bar.

Did Option+mouse scroll ever zoom smoothly? (Wish it did.)
For me it zooms in hops: 50, 66.67, 100, 150, 200 etc. same as when you click with the zoom tool.
You can of course enter exact zoom %s at the bottom left of the Illie window but that’s not smooth either.

I need to unzip some files, but my computer wont let me. I double click on it and the Archive app bounces at the bottom and lets me think Its unzipping it. In reality it is just converting it to a zip.cpgz file. Or someting similar

I uninstalled a cad program I've been running for years and when I go to reinstall it says 0kb available, but in Finder the hard drive shows 80 gb. Why won't it let me install?

Cad software started having some issues so I uninstalled it and when I go to re-install, I can't get past the "select folder for installation" page. I can't browse to any other than the default applications location and at the bottom of the screen it shows 0kb available. But there is 80 gb available on the hard drive. It's an older software, but that shouldn't really matter as it's been on the machine for years. Did upgrading to Snow Leopard somehow do this (as it had many other negative effects on the software)? Software is ArchiCAD 9. I'd upgrade to current version if I had an extra $4K laying around but I don't (so please don't suggest that). Also, I'm that Administrator and I don't have problems installing other softwares. Is it possible that the installation disk from the software manufacturer can have an expiration date? Software is from about 2006.

I suspect the software was originally designed for PPC based Macs and is simply not designed to run on 10.6.7. I would recommend contacting the manufacturer and asking the correct way to uninstall they're application.
After uninstalling I would run Repair Disk Permissions in Disk Utility and if necessary do a SMC reset using the following instructions:
SMC RESET
• Shut down the computer.
• Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
• Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
• Release the power button.
• Attach the computers power cable.
• Press the power button to turn on the computer.
PRAM RESET
• Shut down the computer.
• Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
• Turn on the computer.
• Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.

Why won't firefox let me install an older version of Flash ?

I'm trying to install Flash Player_10_plugin. Since ever since I 'upgraded' to the latest flash version it crashes too much. I downloaded the file, but when I try to download it, a pop up says that I can't; that I should download the latest version, which is exactly what I don't want. And yes, I've read some instructions, tips on here but none have helped. Any ideas or suggestions? Thank you.

Uninstall the 11.3 first, with uninstaller program from Adobe :

Why wont my macbook boot after installing yosemite 10.10.3 ?

After installing the latest version of yosemite (10.10.3) my macbook will not boot. It will start to boot then show this command prompt http://imgur.com/YNb3w5W. Ive tried reinstalling the os and checking the disk for errors and nothing has helped so far. I need this mac for school so im hoping to find a fix. Thanks! Ps. I am having the same problem. Are your devices running IOS 7? After I downloaded IOS 7 on my devices is when they were no longer recognized by my Mac computer with iTunes 10. You may have to download iTunes 11.1 (although I am not positive) but I am reluctant to do this myself because of all of the problems that people have been having with 11.1.
