Not updating the iOS should not effect your problem.
As long as all the apps are in the iTunes library, you will not lose app data by updating the iOS. -

im having the same problem. i talked to a friend of mine who is basically a genuis and he said it probably is Apple's server...that so many people are updating and its causing this. i havent found a true answer yet, i tried to call apple support, but that was hopeless. i thought maybe restoring my phone or something, but i dont want to do that and then realize that if i waited til tomorrow or so that i didnt have to. but im stuck just like you guys!

success.Uninstall your existing copy of iTunes. Delete any copies of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer files from your downloads areas for your web browsers and download a fresh copy of the iTunes installer from the Apple website:

(The current build of the 11.1.4.62 installer was changed a few days ago, which fixed the bulk of the reports of MSVCR80.dll/R6034/APSDaemon.exe/Error-7/AMDS-could-not-start trouble ... but the build number on the installer was not changed. So we're trying to make sure you do the reinstall using a "new good" 11.1.4.62 installer instead of an "old bad".)
Does the install with the new copy of the installer go through properly? If so, does that clear up the error message?

I keep trying to download itunes onto my computer as I need it to update my ipad and use cloud etc. I phoned apple support and they could not work out why it will not download on my computer. I am going into the apple shop to get help but just wondered if anyone else has this problem, the only thing I can think of is that my internet connection/broadband is very slow. Anybody any ideas?
What web browser are you using? Maybe the browser stopped the download of iTunes.

Why wont Orbit Downloader 4.1 work with FireFox 6
Ever since I upgraded to version 6 the Orbit down loader will not recognize firefox. Usually the download window has a checkoff for the Orbit down loader. This no longer happens. Any fixes?
You can force Orbit Downloader to work using [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-on-compatibility-reporter/ Addon Compatibility Reporter]. Note that this could cause problems, though.
