Why wont sound play though my TV using HDMI anymore?

Everything worked fine until the power went out one day. Now I can't get sound to play though my TV using my HDMI cable. I have tried fiddling with every setting there is to make it work on both my TV and my imac but nothing seems to work. When I open system preferences there is not any other options for output besides Internal speakers. The speakers on my TV work fine I have tested them. I've tried several different HDMI cables but nothing works. Why would everything work fine one day and then stop the next? was is because of the power outage? can I fix this myself?

You probably can't because it looks like your MacBook Pro is too old to carry audio over HDMI. You will need to run a separate audio cable from the audio out port on the MacBook Pro to the audio in port on the TV.

Here are some troubleshooting steps for not being able to hear sound through your iPhone speakers. I'd pay special attention to steps 8, 9, and 10 in your situation:
Resolution
Verify that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack, including headsets, headphones, or adapters.
Make sure the Ring/Silent switch is not switched to silent.
While on the Home screen, adjust the volume buttons. If you see the icon below, indicating that headphones are attached, there may be debris or an object lodged in the headset jack:
Check the headset jack. If there is an object lodged in the headset jack that is not easily removed, have the iPhone serviced to remove object.
For Original iPhone: If there is light debris, such as lint, in the headset jack, try connecting a pair of headphones to the headset jack and then remove the headphones. Repeat this several times to remove the debris.
If you have installed a protective film on the display, either ensure that the receiver is not covered or remove the film completely.
Check the receiver mesh (which is on the top front of the device, above the display). If it appears blocked, use a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush to carefully and gently brush away any debris.
If you have paired with a Bluetooth headset that is nearby, either use the headset or turn Bluetooth off (choose Settings > General > Bluetooth).
Restart the iPhone.
If restarting the iPhone doesn't resolve the issue, try restoring the device.
If the issue persists, go to the Service Answer Center - iPhone for information on service.

Try turning down the speak volume (System Preferences->Sound->Output->Output Volume) or the microphone gain (System Preferences->Sound->Input->Input Volume). Do this on both sides of the call.

Why do you have to use sound.js to play an audio file on an Ipad with a click or touch event?
Why cant I have audio on the timeline and have it play? It works on android tablets.

Have you tried quitting the app and restarting the device - or tried a reset?
Quit and restart
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

Why no audio playing in this website using OSX ML 10.8.2 / FP 11.4.x

I am trying to find out why this website does not play the audio streaming correctly on Mac ML OSX 10.8.2 with Flash Player 11.4. (All Browsers are stuck all sound effect are playing well)
It works fine on 10.5.8, with older flash player)
The website address is www.quantika-sf.com Go to section "extrait" and try using the audio player...
Does someone experience the same issue? Is there a security reason somewhere? Cannot find what's wrong in the site or in my os.

I've also been able to reproduce this issue with 10.8.2 and Flash Player 11.4 (and 11.5). It appears that this stopped functioning between Flash Player 10.3 and 11.2. I've verified that the play button is enabled in 10.3, but in 11.2 the button is disabled. Because this appears to have changed a while back your best bet for a fix would be to enter a bug over at bugbase.adobe.com and then tell others about this issue so they can add their votes and comments. It's possible that this could be worked around programmatically in ActionScript, but we'd need to see the code to get a better idea.

UK ITunes purchases, why wont they play in Germany

Having recently moved from UK to Germany, I purchased AppleTV so I could download UK programmes and at least have something to watch which is not dubbed in German. I still have a UK bank account and still a UK address, which means I can still log into iTunes store in UK. Except……when I download anything, either through AppleTV or my Mac it will not play on my German TV. Worse, all my music, videos and TV shows which were already on my Mac, and all legally purchased from iTunes UK will not play either – format not recognised when I sync. Everything plays ok on my Mac, but I have a lovely white box that is of no use. Any ideas or am I just being stupid (and should just learn to speak German quicker)?

nevertheless, stuff you already have in your iTunes library should play fine, no matter where you are.
may be a long shot, but try this:
check if you have read & write permissions for your iTunes music folder. in finder, right-click on it and +get info+. unlock the little padlock (you may have to enter your admin password) and change the permission settings. next, click on the little gear-shaped icon and +apply to enclosed items+ like so
you may also give everyone read & write access. if this doesn't help, try the same on your iTunes folder (not just the iTunes music folder).

also, try de-authorizing your iTunes, then re-authorizing it.
another consideration: when you linked up with the German iTMS, did you create a new iTMS account ?

I synced music to my iphone and it wont play. it just skips over every song and the album art work looks all corupted and distorted. i tried deleting it and re syncing it and it did the same thing. i even deleted the music from itunes and re imported it from my cd and then put it back on my phone and still doesnt work. any ideas?

Try resetting your iPhone. Hold the on/off and home buttons together for about 10 seconds till the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't fix it, restore your iPhone using iTunes.

You need to tell us which MacBook Pro you have. MBP's prior to the late 2009 models couldn't transmit sound. Later models require a specific brand of connector, though most current MBP's work with any adapter. See this website for more information.

Does this site use the flash plugin? Regarding the ads, have you checked for malware with other tools than the antivirus already installed on the system.

Try the following.
Download the Realtek HD Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.

When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers. Right click the Realtek audio device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, restart the notebook and let Windows fully load. Open your Downloads folder, right click on the Realtek installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation. When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices. Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.
If you still have no audio, open windows Control Panel, open Administrative Tools and open Services. Check that the following services are all showing as Status= Started and Start-up Type= Automatic
Audio Service
Multimedia Class Scheduler
Windows Audio
Windows Audio Endpoint Builder
If you need to make a change to any of the above, just right click the service and select Properties, then in the dropdown box next to 'Start-up type', select Automatic and click Apply to save the change. Then click the Start button.

ok..so when i turned on my nano..i got a msg that said "disk mode" "ok to disconnect" which was weird cuz it wasnt connected to anything and the screen was frozen
when i got home i reset and updated the ipod software
now when i hit play..which i couldnt do before..it skips thru every song in my song list with no volume
what the helll is up with that
