Why would Airport change subnet mask?

Hello all.. kinda new to this stuff and was looking around for an answer, but couldn't find my exact situation. So, forgive me if I ask some stupid questions... Ok, I have MacBook Pro, and recently had to do a reset on my modem/router, and now this particular computer won't connect wirelessly. I also have a macbook air, and connects fine wirelessly. It seems I have narrowed it down to the subnet mask... maybe, but not completely sure. Just to be clear, I don't have the Airport express, I am just simply talking about the airport function built in to connect to a wireless network (not sure if it's called something different, or is the one on the actual computer just called airport?). So, going into the airport utility does nothing for me. It can't find any wireless devices. And everything I have read has been talking about going into that program and changing things. Anyways, I tried connecting automatically (using DHCP) and manually, but nothing helps. My macbook air gets a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, while it has now started giving my macbook pro a 255.255.0.0. And I'm assuming my router is still configured for 255.255.255.0, but now my computer isn't.. How is that possible? Just wondering if anyone knew why this was happening and/or how I can fix it. Like I said, I'm not a genius with this stuff, but any help would be appreciated. Thanks for your help! And if I have missed any important information, let me know..

Unless you have an Apple-brand Wi-Fi base station, AirPort Utility is of no use to you.
It might help to reset the connection settings on your MacBook Pro using these steps one at a time until the problem is resolved, recognizing that, depending on your problem, not all of these steps will make sense:
1) Use the AirPort menu bar item to turn AirPort off, then on again.
2) Try to select your Wi-Fi network from the AirPort menu.
3) In the Network panel of System Preferences delete the AirPort item from the left column, then add it back.
4) In the same panel as (3), define a new location and see if you can make that work.
5) In the same panel, select the AirPort connection item, click the "Advanced" button, select the "TCP/IP" tab, then click "Renew DHCP Lease". Note that the fix this step implements may be temporary.
6) In the folder /Library/Preferences ( _not_ <yourhomefolder>/Library/Preferences), move the folder SystemConfiguration onto the Desktop, then restart your computer. See if you can now make your AirPort connection work.
These steps may not help, but they'll only take a couple of minutes to try. Before you try these, if you have any special network settings on your Mac for things like DSL credentials, note all your network settings, because the latter steps will destroy them. If you got all the way to the last step, if things don't work any worse than before, you can trash the saved SystemConfiguration folder.

After recent Verizon upgrade, my music files are messed up. Used to be able to see all artists. Now only some artists display and there's one giant file of "unkown". Why would that change affter the upgrade?

Prior to March, 2015 upgrade, all my music appeared by Artist. After the March, 2015, upgrade, about half of my music appears by Artist and then there's one giant "unknown" file. Why would this change with the upgrade? Makes my music unsearchable unless I want to search by the song name or album name.

You can try an app like Album Art in the Play Store and it will take any tag info and find and sort music. Should work unless the music files were altered during update, in that case you'd need to remove those files and re-add them to the phone.

Help. Changing subnet mask looses connectivity.

HI,
I know this is basic but is giving me a lot of head ache.
I had a /30 between the Router(3925) and the ASA(5515).
Installed EHWIC on the router to support ASA failover.
I loose connection when I change the mask at /29.
So currently the vlan interface at the router has address 10.xx.xx.xx/30 and ASA interface has 10.xx.xx.xx/29.
This works fine but the moment I change router's mask to /29 it looses connection.
Cant figure out why and I have checked all I could.
- Did shut/ no shut on the interface
- Speed/Duplex settings are set to auto both sides.
Its frustrating. Please help.

Why can't I select just one album under artist view and listen to it from beginning to end anymore? Why would you change that?

Why can't I go under artist view in music app, select 1 of multiple albums by a specific artist and play the whole album from beginning to end? Why would you have it automatically shuffle between songs from several albums by the same artist automatically? How do we change this back to previous function because this is sucking big time for a music lover.

I agree this is a really dumb change and I really hope Apple changes it back to the way it was.
In iOS 6 and earlier when you were in the Music player and selected ARTIST it would show a list sorted by artist. When you selected the artist you wanted, it would show a list of their albums. Then you could select the album and see the list of songs. In iOS 7 after you select Artist, it displays the album and every track, so you have to scroll down through not only the album but every track on that album. That was a really stupid change on Apple's part. Makes no sense.

In iOS 7.0 you have to scroll down through all the songs to see the other albums. That can be a really pain if you have a large music collection.
Please Apple change it back to the way it was!! This didn't need to change!

Why would you change something that is perfect?

Ok.... Long time Xperia customer here. have had all three and am currently on the Z3. these are the best phones I have ever had the pleasure of working with.
up until now I have never had a complaint other than the durability of the glass screen on the z2 but anyway...
so I just downloaded this update that is totally uncalled for. My phone is no running slow and lagging my talk to text is not working anywhere near as good as it was before the update. Everything is slow now.
and this is a big one here. I cannot for the life of me figure out why you would change the picture choice format when attaching an image to a text message. there was absolutely nothing wrong with it it worked perfectly the layout was absolutely perfect. But for some reason you guys felt that it was too perfect I guess. I need this changed back to normal.
This is very important my phone is substandard now to what it was prior to this malicious update.

Why Would Crystal Change all "string" values to hexidecimal

We are running Crystal Reports version 11 and using it to access a ISeries DB2 Database. We use the OLE DB (ADO) connedction to the ISeries. We have had several reports running for months, then last Friday when we ran one of the reports Crystal indicated "The database file XXXX has changed; Proceeding to fix up the Report".
When we click OK the fix appears to take place BUT the report fails with a SQL0103 Numeric Contant error. The error is on a "Character" fields but the value has a 0x prefixed to the string. If I look at teh SQL, the SQL being run, it is bad, it has 0x prefixed to teh criteria used on the where and the value is being treated as numeric, it does not contain the single quotes.
Also, after the so called "Database Changed; proceeding to fix", If I display the values in the database for any of the "String" defined fields....the display shows them in hexidecimal.
The Tables Crystal thinks has changed HAVE NOT changed. There are no modifications to these tables so I'm not quite sure why Crystal thinks they have been changed.
I'm not sure if I'm in the proper forum or not. I wanted to call Crystal support BUT it appears they have abonded talking to users, now we must go through forums.
If any one can help on this mees, I'd appreciate it.

Crystal reports tries to find any differences in the database structure, Crystal displays a message to the
effect that u201CThe database file u2018tblxxxxu2019 has been changed. Proceeding to fix up the report!u201D.
You will see this message once for each table that does not match Crystalu2019s internal map
of that table. The OK button (your only option) in response to this available.
If a Report includes subreports, then, when you do a verify the database operation (from the main report),
Crystal checks the main report and all the subreports to see if any of the tables have changed. If it finds any
tables that have changed, it displays the same u201Cu2026u2026Proceeding to fix up the report!u201D message and you must
click OK on all those messages. Next, you must rerun the verify operation again, until you get the u201CThe
database is up to dateu201D message, once for the main report and once for each subreport. (For example, if a
report includes 3 subreports, you will get the u201CThe database is up to dateu201D message four times).
if you do not have the data enclosed in single quotes once the sql statement is assembled, tries to make it into a number. look at your string value of your sql statement and check that you have everything in the correct ; I suspect you have a missing set of single quotes.

HT3606 why does airport change networks in 10.5.8

How do I get my Airport to remember which network I regularly use?
It seems to constantly default to a different one

Go to System Preferences
Click Network
Highlight AirPort and click Configure, or Advanced in 10.5?...
Choose “By default, join: Preferred networks”
Select the wrong access points and Remove those access point swith the minus button.
Reboot
Go back to the “By default, join:” page and click the plus this time to add your access point. Enter the correct password, save, reboot, or...
Instead of joining it from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.

Why would Airport Express signal cut out every afternoon?

I have had an Airport Express router for several years. In the past few years, our wireless signal shuts down in the late afternoon, usually around the same time each day. I have to unplug and plug it back in, then restart the computer for it to work. ?

This is almost certainly someone that is coming home about the same time each day and firing up their wireless network, or a high power wireless device, gaming console, etc. causing interference for other close neighbors. He might be using a high power antenna for his wireless network as well.
Another possibility is a nearby cordless phone which can create interference as well. I won't bore you with a story about this at this time.
When you unplug the AirPort Express and plug it back in, the Express automatically scans to find the best available channel to use at the time....and things are usually OK for awhile until the available channels get overloaded again.
If the AirPort Express is located near an outside wall of your home, try relocating it to an interior wall or room as much as possible. This will help shield some of the interference coming from networks and cordless phones at your neighbors.
Unfortunately, there are probably ten times more wireless networks than there were a few years ago, yet we have the same number of wireless channels to use that we did 10 years ago. Things are really overcrowded....an unfortunate fact of life for those living in crowded areas.
Some folks living in apartments, condos, etc are finding out more and more that they simply cannot rely on wireless, and must use a wired connection for stability.

Change IP-number and Subnet-mask with LabView?

To upgrade the software on a CRio-System, the user needs to change some settings in the TCP/IP-configuration.
To simplify this task I think on a possiblity to do (and at the end redo) the changes in the TCP/IP-Configuration of the Windows PC.
What I need is:
- Change the IP-Adress (from "Obtain IP adress automatic" to IP xyz...)
- Change subnet-mask
- Redo this settings by saving an existing config or set to "Obtain IP adress automatic"
Who knows if and how it's possible to do that in LabVIEW?
Perhaps I have to call a script /.bat-file?
LabVIEW 6,7 and 8 available :-)

I have used this for a program that needs to have a host IP address for High sped cameras. I have it change the IP address to the required address and change it back when I am done. Here is a very simple Labview version of this code with out the switch back.

Wlc 5508 webauth subnet mask change issue

Recenly l changed the network subnet for a particular wlc interface and scope and also an upstream router and for some reason it would only allow me to use a /24 Host mask as my plan was to go to a /22 mask to allow for over 1000 hosts within this scope.
The Upstream Router which is a ( RV042 ) had the following original config :
     192.168.1.1
     255.255.255.0
I have noticed this device will not let me change the mask from a /24 to a /22 as you can only change from a pre-defined list of masks and you cannot manually add any either..
New Config
     10.10.0.10
     255.255.255.0
WLC 5508 Controller Interface
     Original Config
      192.168.1.25
     255.255.255.0
     192.168.1.1
     New Config
     10.10.0.25
     255.255.252.0
     Scope
     Range : 10.10.1.10 - 10.10.3.254

When l reconfigure to this addressing the wireless clients connect and get the new dhcp scope details but following this the webauth screen doesn't appear not allowing them to connect meaning there is no routing of traffic / internet access.
If l modify the above interface and scope masks back to a /24 - 255.255.255.0 the the wireless clients connect and webauth appears to prompt them to accept the terms and conditions and connect thus giving them internet access.
It looks like an issue with the mask ? The main reason l am trying to change the subnet addressing is because the standard /24 mask is not providing enough dhcp addresses and we have had times were the scope has been exhausted due to the public connecting and disconnecting as the lease perod of 2 hours holds onto the address before expiring meaning there is not enough available addresses for people to connect.
I would of thought that the upstream router ( RV042 ) even though it is only a /24 mask would still route the traffic coming from a WLC Controller interface with a /22 mask ?
Hopefully someone can suggest a solution ?

Hey Scott just getting back to this issue..   If for instance l can modify the wlc interface and Scope to have a /22 mask ( 1022 Hosts ) and my upstream Router ( Cisco RV042 ) can only provide a /24 or higher mask then does that mean l am still limited to a range of 254 hosts ( /24 Mask ) ? Would this mean l need to look into replacing my upstream Cisco RV042 VPN Router ?

The "Photos" view has been replaced by the Media Browser.

I did a bit of testing today and discovered, that the connection doesn't close, only when I exit OVI Store (this happens with WLAN and also with 3G/UMTS connection).
When I exit any other app (e.g. Browser, Opera, ...) the connection closes automatically after I have closed down the app.
So this must have something to do with the OVI Store, probably with the new version as I cannot remember to have experienced this until some days ago.

with the use of a wild-card mask we can gain control over route update propagation.So we can define which networks should receive updates and which networks should not receive routing updates.Its just like wildcard masks used in ACLs.this is my view

Could have to do with home sharing. Try turining off and then back on home sharing on your AppleTV.
