Why would Firefox give me an "Untrusted Connection" error where IE and Chrome don't?

I get an Untrustead connection error in Firefox when accessing https://eponline.mom.gov.sg/epol/. Both IE and Chrome trust the site. What's different about Firefox?

This Connection Is Untrusted error message may appear when trying to visit secure (https) websites in Firefox.
It Appears in Google Chrome also..

  • After updating to Firefox 33.0.3 why am I getting Untrusted Connection Errors with Yahoo and Amazon?

I have updated to Firefox 33.0.3 and now I am getting untrusted connection errors when trying to go to Yahoo.com and Amazon.com this happens with both http and https. My time is in sync. I tried deleting the cert8.db file.
I have looked at other solutions and they have not worked. These sites were working fine on the previous version for me but now with this new update they are not working. Why hasn't Mozilla fixed this already?

Yes I have tried the steps above. For example, When I try to get to Yahoo web site, I get this:
    This Connection is Untrusted
You have asked Firefox to connect securely to www.yahoo.com, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure.
Normally, when you try to connect securely, sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified.
    What Should I Do?
If you usually connect to this site without problems, this error could mean that someone is trying to impersonate the site, and you shouldn't continue.
www.yahoo.com uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided. (Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer)
I do not have the option to do an exception because I can only click on the Technical Details and the Get me Out of Here button.
As I've said in my previous post, I have deleted the cert8.db file, my clock is in sync, and I have tried to do the other solutions but they have not worked.

  • For whatever reason Firefox keeps displaying the "Untrusted Connection" error due to my company's firewall.

I have at least three dozen instances of adding a certificate override for google (Logged on Certificates/Other) and it pops up every time I start the browser. Furthermore now it's no longer giving the override option, instead only giving me the technical details and the "get me out of here" without the override option. There's no way to make the company's site overall accepted as a security certificate so it requires adding an exception to most sites I go to and it's really annoying and is causing me problems at work. Switching to chrome may have to happen if I cannot even access my e-mail using this browser. I had to launch it just to register on the forums for gods sake! Why can't I override the security certificates for my company's firewall?!

Best would be to get the root certificate of that firewall and install this certificate in Firefox and set the appropriate trust bits.
Do other browsers like IE also have this problem as it is possible that this root certificate has been installed for IE, but not for Firefox?
    Which firewall is used?
You can try to contact the IT department to see if they have a solution for Firefox.

  • Why does firefox give an update an then not allow it to install

A new update or add-on called screen shot so i installed then it said "firefox has blocked this" and had the "allow" button; my question is why do they give you an up date or add on and then don't allow it?
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == I clicked install updates

Not cool. I actually liked Firefox until this kind of thing started. Seems like they're going the way of Microsoft and trying to ram updates down your throat whether you like it or not. I thought Mozilla was all about giving the user a lot of control over Firefox???... Not everyone has unlimited bandwidth to waste, and not everyone wants the updates.
    Not cool Mozilla, not cool.
Is there any official suggestion/comment box where I can express my discontent of this function?

  • I have been getting a "Untrusted Connection" error on Firefox randomly for the past 4 weeks, what could be causing it?

For the past about 4 weeks I've have been randomly getting an untrusted connection error whenever i try to search something on google.com or using the google search bar. It will happen for about 5-10 mins then will go away. This will happen across 3 different computers (both mac and pc) and will also happen on Chrome, sometimes at the same time sometimes different times. I've searched around and tried pretty much everything i can think of. The date/time is correct on all computers, cache has been cleared, everythings up to date, contacted the ISP and the router companies and they say its not them so i'm at a complete loss.
Any advice or help would be much appreciated!

Did you check the issuer of the certificate and other details?
You can retrieve the certificate and check details like who issued certificates and expiration dates of certificates.
*Click the link at the bottom of the error page: "I Understand the Risks"
Let Firefox retrieve the certificate: "Add Exception" -> "Get Certificate".
*Click the "View..." button and inspect the certificate and check who is the issuer of the certificate.
You can see more Details like intermediate certificates that are used in the Details pane.
If <b>"I Understand the Risks"</b> is missing then this page may be opened in an (i)frame and in that case try the right-click context menu and use "This Frame: Open Frame in New Tab".
*Note that it is not recommended to add a permanent exception in cases like this, so only use it to inspect the certificate.

Not happy with version 29.0.1 - Are there any plans to roll this back?

On my Windows 8 machine Firefox 29 (puke) no longer remembers my "Customize" icon settings ~ every time I close down Firefox and restart they all have disappeared. POS.
Whomever approved this radical of a change on the user experience without a nary of warning should be TERMINATED. This will go down in software history's top ten "Hall-Of-Shame"!!!

  • Why would creative give you media formats you can't

I have one question that has been bothering me for a long time. why would creative give you audio formatts under the audio convertor(audigy 2 ZS card with creative media source) that you can't even use, any time i try to convert any audio file from its orginal formatt to a WMA pro with the settings as follows; Encoding mode - constant bitrate; Audio Sample - any thing that is 5. or 7. with any bit rate or frequency. i get this message "failed. Format conversion not supported"

That Apple may give you a refurbished unit should yours develop a problem is stated in the warranty, and is very common among manufacturers of electronic devices like the iPod. It's not cost effective for any manufacturer to replace a failed unit with a new one, nor to repair the customer's device, so providing refurbished units is standard industry policy.
As RG said, refurbished iPods go through a complete reconditioning process, so there is no reason other than unmet expectations why a refurbished iPod would not be as good a replacement as would a new iPod. In any case, you've already been told Apple's policy on the matter, so complaining here will do no good, particularly since we're all just fellow users here.
If the replacement iPod is having problems, something which is unusualy but not unheard-of, I'd first suggest you start a new thread detailing the problem and perhaps someone can offer suggestions.  Otherwise, you'll need to take the replacement iPod back to the Apple Store or call Apple tech support and discuss the problem with them. I'd suggest you be calm and polite with them, no matter how frustrated you are (as apparently you were the minute you first walked into the Store); people are far more willing to go above and beyond normal policy for someone who is being reasonable than they are for ranters.

  • Whenever i open internet it shows untrusted connection....and in google images it shows few images and other quite white.....what to do?

whenever i open internet it shows untrusted connection....and in google images it shows few images and other quite white.....what to do?

    Hello,
please check you system Date and time and make sure they are correct .
    Moreover
A common problem recently is Firefox not being set up to work with your security software. Some security suites include a filtering feature. In order to filter secure connections (HTTPS URLs), the security software presents a fake certificate to Firefox so it can intercept and stand in the middle of the secure connection. To have Firefox trust these certificates, you may need to do something such as import a root certificate, or click something in your security software's settings.

  • MS Exchange 2010 Outook Web App "Untrusted Connection" error in Firefox. No issue with IE or Chrome

I installed Microsoft Root CA Certificate on my Computer. (For Exchange 2010 Outlook Web Access) But Firefox appear "This Connection is Untrusted" error ((Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer)). IE and Chrome works fine.
    My firefox version is 18.0.1.
I want to fix this issue without adding a exception. Please help.

Try to export those certificates in IE and import the certificates in Firefox.
*Tools > Options > Advanced : Encryption: Certificates - View Certificates
If this is to be a root certificate then you need to set the applicable trust bits.

  • Why would firefox be using so much memory that the application itself freezes to the point where I have to force the program to end?

For the past few days, I've been doing research for a presentation that I am doing for college. As I've been using Firefox, the program freezes to the point where I have to force the program to terminate. I have a computer with 8 gigs of ram and an i5 quad core processor running at 2.8 ghz. There are no viruses or spyware on the system, and there isn't anything else running. There are no addons applied to my browser, and no personas. There should be no memory issues to the point where an internet browser would freeze this badly.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • Why would firefox ever publish a software that is not compatible with Mcafee Site Advisor?

This move freaks me out from searching and I cant even regress the software to a previous version until this senseless push takes into account what matters: "safe browsing"

  • Why does Firefox have so many unresposive script errors?

Firefox 22.0 (on Mac) seems to be a dog. It continually stops responding and gives so many "A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding" errors.
Either Facebook have done something, or there is an incompatibility between Flash, Firefox and Facebook or something. (Flash 11.7.700.225)
I have had this before with other Firefox builds - but this time it is occurring multiple times each time I am on Facebook
Thinking of trying Chrome if this keeps up - although I am reluctant to hand yet even more privacy info over to Google.
The only plugin I use is Flash. I run the default theme, and the only add-ons I have are Adblock Plus 2.2.4, Adblock Plus Pop-up Add-on 0.8 and the English (Australian) Dictionary 2.1.2
I wish each so-called 'security upgrade' came with a message that 'this version is a dog' - it is not only causing issues it is not compatible and has disable my "Easy Youtube Video Downloader 6.8"
As per the Mozilla Help I have disabled "hardware acceleration" and also changed the value for "dom.max_script_run_time" to 20 - neither helped in any way.
    Far from happy Mozilla

Thank you for your "copy and paste" reply. It is very obvious that you did NOT read my original post.
If you had you would have noticed:
    a) I stated: "I run the default theme"
    and that
b)I stated: "I have disabled "hardware acceleration""
c)I stated: "changed the value for "dom.max_script_run_time" to 20 "
(both of which are in response to the linked help article that you recommended - and neither of which did any good)
    d) I also stated: "The only plugin I use is Flash"
(which is the latest up-to-date version and if Firefox cannot run with Flash it is of no use as a browser)
I will try "Safe Mode" and post how that works after browsing Facebook - but it should not be necessary to do this.
I had reported similar issues with Firefox two or three builds back (Firefox 19.0.2) then the issue was fixed for a couple of builds - and now with the release of Firefox 22.0 (on Mac) it is as bad or worse than ever.
