That would be because someone has activated the Find My Phone alert from another device or from iCloud.com feature using your Apple ID.

Why does my MacBook start typing in upper case even though Caps lock is off?

On occasions, when typing, my MacBook starts to type in upper case even though the Caps lock is off? This is not a physical sticking of the shift key as it happens even when using a USB keyboard? I have to use the shift key kind of in reverse to revert to lowercase entry.
I have checked settings and I cannot find anything that could be causing it.
Really bloody annoying!
Can anybody help.
I have a two week old MBP w Retina Display. This did happen on my old MBP and I did restore this new MBP from my Time Capsule disk so assume I brought the problem with me so to speak.

Why would my MacBook Pro be stuck on a Gray Screen?

Today when I went to start up my MacBook Pro the screen was completely black (it appeared to be lit but still a lit black), then I called Apple support and they walked me through a few steps, which just made the screen white. Along with the white screen it displays the Apple logo, then a circle with a line through it (like a do not enter sign), then a gray file with a question mark in it. These 3 images just kind of scroll through on repeat.
I am not really looking for ways to fix it, I do have an appointment with the Genius Bar, however I was hoping to just understand a little behind why this would be happening... And if you had any ideas on what the cost I'm looking at for the fix. I have a mid 2012 MacBook Pro that has been updated with the latest software. It was working perfectly fine yesterday, and I have never had any problems with it until this right now.

Why would FCP not start?

I've never had this probem before. I just finished working on different projects. I was attempting to open another project and it would not open.
I'm not sure why this would or could happen. When I attempt to open FCP it starts to open up, if I have a camera connected it just quits and vanishes if the camera is not connected then it will ask to check again or continue. When I click continue it again vanishes. Any suggestions?

If FCP opened with the media volume offline, then it means you have a corrupt media file or render file. There are several ways to resolve this, but which way is best depends on how long your project is and a few other factors.
For many users, the best thing to do is trash all the render files and rerender. To do that, mount your media volume again, find the two render folders for this project ('Render Files' and 'Audio Render Files'. and trash all the files. Empty the Trash.
Now open the project in FCP and see if it opens. If it does, re-render the sequence. (If it first tells you it can't connect with some render files, ignore that.)
EDIT: If it won't open after trashing the render files, then you have to ID the corrupt media file, Report back for more instructions if that's it.

Why did my macbook start installing while I was shutting down?

I was trying to shut my macbook down and it began to do so, but suddenly you could see a transparent window show up that had an install bar initiate. My macbook then installed an unknown update that I did not initiate. I was not in update software at all before I shut down. I closed my Microsoft Word application and then I shut it down. I checked the Console and there was activity during this time that I don't understand, but can post info on if someone knows how to decipher it.
I am concerned that my macbook installed some type of malicious software by itself.
I am always cautious to what emails I open etc, so I don't know why it did that.

Hold the power button and the system will eventually shutdown (uncleanly). My MacBook freezes from time to time while watching Netflix (4 times in 2 years). I wouldn't worry about unless it's happening all the time.

Why does my MacBook start up with the OS X utilities screen?

When I turn on my MacBook I get a screen that says OS X Utilities. It has 4 options, restore from time machine back up, reinstall OS X, get help online, and disk utility. I have played with the options but I'm scared I'm going to erase all of my files. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

For some reason it is starting directly into the Recovery HD - normally this has to be done deliberately by holding the key combination of Command + r
Firstly, try restarting holding down the Alt (option) key and it will hopefully take you to the Start-up Manager. Select Macintosh HD (you may need to use the arrow keys on the keyboard to select it) and press enter. Let it boot, hopefully into 'normal' mode. Now restart again from the Apple menu - does it boot correctly now?

Why would AFP process start up crashed

When I start afp, one of the two applefiles processes starts up with >> under the #th column in a terminal/top window. users are experiencing slowness. I've restarted, ran updates, ran the kill command, it shows up that way automatically. smb seems fine. I've run out of ideas other than reinstalling the whole server.

Without warning, my MBP shuts down. It will work again once plugged in, and shows that there is still battery life. The date/time is also being affected.

That *might* be caused because your battery is failing. Or it *might* need Calibrating.. What model macbook do you have?

It sounds like you would like to erase your MacBook Pro and install a new copy of OS X, but the Mac does not boot to OS X Recovery when you hold the Command + R keys during startup.
