Why would my older iPod not charge after sitting dormant for while?

Why would my iPod classic not charge after sitting dormant?

Be patient, leave it connected to a USB 2.0 port or wall charger, for at lease 2 hours.
It would normally takes about 30 minutes of charging, before the iPod Classic screen comes to life, if the battery has not gone bad.

  • IPod not recognised after working fine for over a year

I got my mini ipod Christmas 2004 and it has worked beautifully ever since, until recently.
I plugged in my ipod to my laptop which is the computer I usually update and use itunes on and it states “USB Devise not recognised”, the usual “do not disconnect” sign didn’t show on my actual ipod. I downloaded the updates for everything available and I reloaded itunes but nothing works! I even tried it on another computer where it works fr a while and then the same problem just happened again.
Please can someone help, I love my little ipod and would like to have him fixed!
Any help is welcome, thanks in advance
    Stef

however this does not work for everybody, and it
hasnt workes for me, neither did the 5 R'S
same here...had ipod mini for about 1 year worked fine now it won t connect to itunes and is not recognized through any usb ports or different usb cords... Help please

  • IPod not charging after only 6 months

After only 6 months, my iPod (color display) seems to have stopped taking charges. When plugged into computer, a very faint image appears saying something like "Battery power very low." We brought to an iPod store. They said the battery is fine, and sold us a cord for plugging into wall outlet. We left it charging overnight, but it still doesn't work (it does work while plugged into wall).
Could the battery really be dead after only 6 months?
Does it really cost $80 to have a battery replaced?
Is there really no way to get support from Apple directly to answer questions like these?
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Please note that
Normally, the battery should needs to be replacement around 18 months, yours is 6 months -Hummm.
Where did you buy it? Are you sure it is a brand new one? iPod with colour display have came to market for quite some time.
Try to do a reset and recharge your iPod again.
If still does not work, you can go to Apple shop again, your iPod should covered by 12 months warranty

  • Why is the viewport markup not scaling my site correctly for mobile device?

Firstly, thank you in advance for taking the time to look into my comment/question/issue.
Secondly, I have ran the validation with WC3 but have not had a moment to edit and update the corrections. Hoping that will fix the (other) issue I have with the light box not working correctly.
O.k. on to the primary issue... simply put, when viewing on my (and checking on other's devices), my site doesn't scale correctly to the viewport. Sometimes it scales correctly, but you can "pinch" the screen to zoom out and the site scales down and justifies left.
Any thoughts as to what I have missed here?

    thank you again!

Aside from the lightbox issues I am having, I was able to get the code cleaned up.
Issue still exist after some more tinkering. Code responds, and loads to the browser size correctly. However, you can re-size on a mobile device and it backs all the way out to about 50%, and justifies left side of the browser.
I've never ran into this type of issue before. But this is the first time I've integrated it with a site I've built from the ground up based on the Bootstrap framework.
All other times, framework and meta tag were already applied and no issues arose.

  • Why do my Reminders sometimes not alert after the set time?

Why do my Reminders sometimes not alert after the set time?  I've tried re-starting repeatedly.  I've tried deleting older completed reminders (I only had 300).  Is there a fix for this?

You problem sounded rather odd, so I tried to duplicate it in iTunes 11 and I couldn't.
I turned off copy to iTunes media folder when adding to library, then I moved a music track that was not in the iTunes media folder from folder A to folder B and right clicked on it and selected open with iTunes and it played fine. (I have to do it this way as iTunes is not my default player for MP3).
However the consequences of doing this are that you end up with two copies of the track in the library database, the original which can no longer be found as it is not in its original location and the new entry pointing to the correct location which plays OK.
So as far as I can tell, there must be something else going on as I can't dublicate your problem in iTunes 11

If you want an easy time with iTunes it really is easier to let iTunes manage your music in the iTunes media folder. Also it make life a lot easier if you want to move to a new disk or PC as iTunes can tolerate the iTunes media folder being moved as long as you tell it where it is.
    Added
I realised that my last experment was not a purchased track.
When I did it with a purchased track, iTunes recognises that it should be in the library database and brings the track up with an exclamation mark next to it. Strangely the track was added to the library with the correct loaction and would play on the secon try.
Odd behaviour, maybe it is something to do with the icloud storage system as iTunes knows you purchased the track.

  • Ipod stops charging after a few seconds

My 4th gen ipod stops charging after 6-8 seconds of being plugged in. Since the battery is dead, the black screen with a red battery pops up whenever it's plugged in and then disappears after 6-8 secs or being unplugged. Both the home and power buttons are broke so I'm unable to activate in any way besides plugging it in.

    - Try another cable. The cable for 5G iPod (lightning connector) seems to be more prone to failure than the older cable.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • WHY DOES IT SAY BATTERY NOT CHARGING WHEN I TRY TO CHARGE MY IPAD??

WHY DOES IT SAY BATTERY NOT CHARGING WHEN I TRY TO CHARGE MY IPAD ???

How are you trying to charge it, via a computer or the wall plug ? If a computer, then a lot of computers (especially older ones) generally do not provide enough power to their USB ports to charge the iPad at a sufficient rate - it may still be charging slowly, and should be a bit quicker if the iPad's screen is off (if you leave it for a while and then disconnect it from your computer you may find that it's battery percentage has gone up). The wall charger is usually the most efficient way to charge the iPad.
If the wall charger then have you tried a reset to see if it charges after the iPad has restarted ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
If that doesn't work then have you tried a different charger and/or cable ? Do you know anybody else with an iPad so that you can try their charger and cable and they can try yours ?
And for info typing in capitals is considered SHOUTING.

  • IPad 2 switched off and not charging after iOS 7.1 update

iPad 2 switched off and not charging after iOS 7.1 update. Pls help me. I have tested my charger. Its working in another device. But my iPad 2 is not charging with other adapters too. What to do??

    Hello, 92.romil.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I would make sure you are using an Apple branded cable with your iPad.  If you are, the troubleshooting steps in the article below may help.  The steps listed below for the iPhone and iPod still apply to your iPad.
    Resolving issues
If your battery doesn't charge, or if your device shows a low-battery image, black screen, or "accessory not supported" alert, follow these steps.
Inspect the connector at the bottom of the phone:
Make sure that there are no bent pins in the connector.
Make sure that the connector is free from debris.
If there are bent pins or debris, please contact Apple Support.
    Otherwise, continue troubleshooting.
Make sure that the outlet you're using works.
Make sure that the Apple USB cable and Apple USB power adapter work.
Plug the device in to power and let it charge for up to 30 minutes. If you don't have an Apple USB power adapter, try connecting to a computer's high-power USB 2.0 port (not a keyboard). The computer must be on.
If the device still exhibits an issue, try turning your device off and then on again while connected to power.
If the issue is persists, please contact Apple Support.

  • Ipad2 will not charge after ios7

Tried reset many times.  Tried several apple cords.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Ipad mini not charging after 6.1.2 ios update

I just updated my pad to the latest ios, then what i noticed is that it can't charge anymore. Charging is is still possible through laptop though but it's TOO SLOW... this is surely because of the update... what can we do... hopefully apple fixes this SOON...

And this - Unplug the charger from the iPad and then replug. May resume charging.
Or - Recalibrate the battery. See link below.

  • My Iphone 4 will not charge after Ios7 update, does anyone know how to fix ?, My Iphone 4 will not charge after Ios7 update, does anyone know how to fix ?

My Iphone 4 will not charge after ipdate to IOS 7.0.4, Does anyone have a solution ? I have tried apple cables and chargers. I see many have the same issue. Anyone made progress ?

No offence, but as with quite a few others, my Iphone stopped charging on mains after iOS 7.0.4 update too.
Not sure you can categorically advise that "it simply is not a software issue" when so many different people are having the same symptoms after updating their iOS   Just have a quick Google!
Luckily my (original Apple) cable will still allow recharging via USB to a laptop. So, process of elimination would point to a bricked charger that was working faultlessly up until the iOS 7.0.4 update was applied. Seems quite a stretch to be a coincidence.
Look forward to an explanation ..... and an update? ......

  • Why would my iphone suddenly lose charge rapidly (6-7%/hr) with no use

Why would my iphone suddenly lose charge rapidly (6-7%/hr) with no use?

I had the same problem with my iPhone 5 AFTER I had upgraded to IOS.
Did a good deal of searching on this site and others and found that the main advice being given was to turn off all apps that are running in the background (From the home screen double press the home button and a visual list of all apps running in the background will appear. To turn them off simply swipe your finger upwards on each).
Found that this definitely solved my problem and now make sure I do this every time I use the phone.
    Hope this helps
