Why would the internet completely fail

Yesterday for an unknown reason, My Imac's Internet and Wifi completely failed and I have no idea why it did this? Is there something that I am missing? What could have caused my wifi and my internet to fail? Why did it cause my ipod and Iphone's internet fail aswell? It is fixed know, I phoned an apple representitive and got it fixed. But I am just wondering why the internet and wifi failed on all my apple divices.

In the Sustem/Network/Advanced/DNS preference pane check to see what DNS servers you're using. If it's not one of the two below delete those that are there and add both of the two below. See if that improves performance. Note what servers were there in case you want to go back to them.

Why does Google auto-complete fail in Firefox 17.0.1 when I type something in the search field there is no pull down list of options as I type?

When I type a word or term into the Google search bar the auto-complete fails; there is no pull down list of options for my search, only what I have completely typed in. I have to type in the complete word or term that I am searching for and then press return to get the results. I'm using a MacBook and OS X 10.7.5 Please help! This is so frustrating!

Note that websites may be using autocomplete=off to prevent Firefox from saving and filling autocomplete data as I posted above.

Because readers (often) don't finish downloading a folio. If they start downloading something else, lose network connectivity, etc. the download will stop.

Why does the internet on my new macbook pro not work when my old macbook's does? I'll have to turn the wifi off and back on multiple times to get the internet to continue to work on my Macbook Pro (running mountain lion but did it on lion also) when it runs fine on my old white Macbook (running lion). Is there something I can do to fix it or do I just have to deal with it?

if you have one already you can rename either one ..
and then go to system preferences - displays - color to select the profile .
you will get rid of the blue tint while keeping correct color and gamma

JAWade, try resetting the SMC and pram. Not always, but often those resets help problems like yours. Follow these instructions exactly.
To reset the SMC
Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord.
Wait fifteen seconds.
Attach the computer's power cord.
Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
Resetting PRAM and NVRAM
Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.

Why would the phone give me the error "Cannot Connect to Voicemail"? How do I get into my voicemail? Is it a network problem? Or is it a setting issue on the phone?

Usually it indicates that your data network is unavailable. When you receive this message, does the phone say 3G or E next to the AT&T service bars?
I usually reset the phone by holding the sleep/wake button and home button for 10-15 seconds until the screen goes black and the Apple logo appears. That solves the problem for me when it occurs.

I have installed Airport Extreme in my study where the Sky broadband hub lives. The internet is great in the room where the hub and the Airport Extreme live, but when I go to another room in the house, the internet connection fails. Help?

How can I increase the range of my Airport Extreme? I don't live in a particular large house...I just want to be able to use the internet throughout my house. I purchased the Airport Extreme on the understanding that I would be able to access the Wifi connection throughout the house. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong, if anything?

Are your walls made out of sheetrock by any chance?
You could purchase another apple router, and set one to EXTEND the other to increase your range.

You may think you are connected to the internet, but maybe not. Click on Safari and see if it connects.

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Update disabled me from the internet completely

Updated to firefox 4.0 and now I am not able to open any website or find any connection but my computer is still connected to the internet. What do I do?

iChat does tend to show up a lot more minor glitches with the Internet connection than other apps.
Obviously a Mail app only uses it now and then as does a Web Browser.
A download or Video Stream would show something more regular with pauses and slowdowns or stuttering.
A WiFi Connection would be likely to be influenced by external factors like power surges in cabling, Microwaves the other side of walls (General Electro Magnetic Stuff) going on around, either near either Router of computer or in between.

Why is the internet faster on my 3-year-old Macbook Pro than on my iPad???

Though I love my iPad, I am puzzled why surfing the web is so much slower on the iPad than on my three-year-old MacBook Pro. I have a cable modem and an airport extreme. Loading the same pages on Safari, the MacBook is much faster than the iPad. Is this normal? Could something be slowing down the connection to the iPad?

Even a 3 year old MacBook has 4 times the CPU power and about ten times the RAM of an iPad.
You can run speed tests on the iPad and make sure that you don't have a connection problem.

Why isnt the internet sign next to the words 'iPad'?

Ya know when you are connected to the internet, the little three line thing is next to the words 'iPad/pod,etc.? Well, mine isnt showing up. It was there but now it isnt. It made me thnk something was wrong woth my internet or the iPad lost connection again. So when i turned off the internet /on the ipad/ then back on, it still wont show up. So, now im going to panic everytime i see that noting is there. OH YEAH! I still have internet connection. :3

The little icon that looks like an ice cream cone or slice of pizza is your wifi connectivity meter. If it is not showing then you are not connected to a wifi network. Go to settings, wifi and choose a network. Click on the networks name and enter a PW to join it.
