    Hello Sophie59
You should be able to see two different tabs when setting up the email if you go to Other > Add Mail Account. Once you enter in the email address and password, you should be at the next screen to provide more details about the email as far as incoming and outgoing servers and at the top there will be a blue section to add it in as a POP or IMAP email account. • Some apps "use cellular data" will not remain turned off

some apps "use cellular data" will not remain turned off
No matter how often I go to settings>cellular and turn off the apps, as soon as I close that screen they automatically turn back on.
I prefer not to delete the apps and reload them as I will loose the data in them when they are removed.
    Thanks for the help.

First thing and easiest thing to try is a device reset:
    Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)
    1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
    2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
    3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.

  • The option of "use cellular data for" turns back on by itself for my apps. How do I fix this?

I´ve read many threads about this, but have found no clear solution yet.
I read somewhere that in order to save data usage, there is an option in Settings ->Cellular to enable/disable some apps from working with Cellular Data, so I went ahead and disabled several of my apps. However, when I check again (sometimes I go back to the home page of Settings and straight back into Cellular), all of the apps I disabled are enabled to use Cellular Data again. How do I fix this?

  • Settings App needs Cellular Data??

Since the install of iOS 8 on my iPhone 5 I went in and verified which of my installed Apps get access to cellular data.  In doing this I noticed that the Settings App is now listed.  I couldn't for the life of me figure out why this particular app would need to access data, let alone data that I'm paying for so I shut is off.  Now every time I access Settings I'm interrupted and have to acknowledge this choice.  SUPER annoying.
Apple, Why does this App need my data access and why should it be turned on?

Is it just one app? Did you try deleting and reinstalling it? The app could be buggy and you should try to find an alternative.

  • Is there aproblem with the settings app measuring cell data usage incorrectly?

My Settings app in my iPad (3rd gen) under General>Usage>Cellular Usage is telling me I have used 10.2 TB received and 713 GB sent. The Cellular Network Data>Usage had been only 240MB in received data just two days before. I had not used the iPad in two days. It was sleeping and not shut off. My battery level also had only changed a few percent. My Verizon account is still showing the correct 240 MB received. Is it possible for the iPad to continuously access cellular data while asleep? Could this be a problem with the Settings app? Could this be from location services? I had the Map open, but it had been closed. It was still showing in the background apps witht a double touch of the start button.

Thanks SergZak. My iPad has only been active for about two weeks. I don't see how it could have accumulated such an astronomically high number. I found one other thread from April that showed the same problem with  a number of other users (New iPad shows incorrect cellular data usage statistics?). I am hoping that Apple is aware of this and working on a correction. Although upon checking my Verizon account the numbers were accurate to true usage, I am concerned that incorrect accumulation of statistics could lead to overcharges. If I had actually used 10 TB (10,000 GB) of data at $10 per GB over my allotmet of 2 GB, I would have owed Verizon $98,000.

  • How can I control which apps use cellular data?

Sometimes I marvel at Apple's amazingness and sometimes I can't believe the holes.  Googling around I get the impression that iOS/iPhone provides no means for a user to take control of their data plan and set which apps are permitted to use cellular data and to track cellular data usage on an app by app basis.  Am I the only one that finds it unbelievable that an operating system designed for a cell phone that supports adding piles of sometimes sketchy 3rd party apps doesn't have this baked right in?  There seem to be a few apps try monitor overall aggregate data usage, but they are useless at getting to the root cause.
So, I hope I'm just missing it.  How do I figure out which broken, buggy, misconfigured app I stupidly installed is eating my data plan?  Maybe Android is a better choice for guys like me that are too busy to play whack a mole uninstalling and reinstalling apps for hours and days to try to solve such a tedious mystery.
    Thanks!

  • Why would I need to use LiveCycle Data Services in a Flex app?

I cannot figure out what additional functionality is provided by using LiveCycle Data Services in my Flex apps.  I cannot get a clear understanding of how using LiveCycle Data Services would benefit my applications.  Does someone out there use LiveCycle Data Services?  If so, what do you do with it in Flex?
    Thanks!

    - data push for publish/subscribe implementations
User has to do nothing to get updated information. You push it to their machine when new data is available, like Yahoo finance updated quotes.
    - data paging
You don't want to display one million rows in your datagrid at once. Get a batch of data, if the user scrolls down, get the next batch, etc.
    - server side clustering
One server does not get overloaded. High traffic sites have their large number of concurrent connections managed more efficiently.
    - JMS services
JMS is a powerful technology for messaging throughout an application, and LCDS makes it much easier.
    - RTMP tunneling
Allows the use of the RTMP protocol in LiveCycle Data Services applications. Makes it easier to traverse firewalls and proxies appropriately that currently prevent direct RTMP client connections to the server.

  • Why is the mail-app using so much space?

My iPhone is desperately needing some RAM-space to operate, space that is currently in use by the Mail-app. After I have deleted all messages (inbox, sent and trash) the mail-app still takes up for 7,0 GB of space. Somehow it seems not to delete messages (and or attachments) that should have been deleted from the device, or it there something else wrong? Can anyone help me to get rid of the junk in the Mail-App?

Thanks for the suggestion. In that case I would like to know how to delete seperately stored attachments on my iPhone, since I already deleted each and every one of my e-mails. (cleared all inboxes, sent boxes, trash.... all of them). And even after deleting all e-mails it still takes up 7 GB.

  • Use Cellular Data

What is the meaning of "Use Cellular Data" in Settings > Music (iOS 5.1 and iTunes Match)? I tried to switch off this option, but I was still able able to download a song from iCloud using Cellular Data.

I enabled iTunes Mach on my iPhone, however the "Settings > Music > Use Cellular Data > Off" described here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4913
However it does not work as expected, and data continues to download iTunes Match data over 3G.
This unfortunately meant that last weekend I exceeded my mobile data quota by over 2GB when my phone continued downloading the entire day in the background. This issue has cost me $AUD499 in excess data usage charges, for something I explicitly looked for a setting to prevent!

  • Use Mobile Data For: Settings - Why does Settings need a cellular data connection?

    iPhone 5 iOS 8.1
Settings > Mobile > Use Mobile Data For: Settings
Just curious, why does the iPhone need this turned on? Why does the settings app need a cellular mobile data connection?
If you turn it off, you're pestered to turn it on every time you go into settings?

Because, that's the way Siri works...it needs an Internet connection...requests are sent to Apple's servers. No Internet, no Siri.

  • I cannot find all my installed apps on the "use cellular data for" tab on the settings menu.

I have a new iphone 5s and on the first day I've received it, I updated to IOS 8.0.2.
Today, I've decided to turn my cellular data on and, in order to consume less data, I thought I would disable some of the apps. However, only a few were available/visible on the "use cellular data for" tab. However, when, with the cellular data turned on, I opened a missing app on the phone, it would start to appear on the list (where it wasn't previously). Also, when I go to the app on the settings menu, it would not have shown the option, "use cellular data" before I've opened the app and now it does. Do I need to turn on every single app before I can select my cellular data preferences? I know people with the same phone and their apps appear all, as expected.
I don't know if this is a problem of my own carrier but I don't think so, because the people I mentioned earlier have the same carrier.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

Did you try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Appel logo comes back again? You will not lose data by resetting.
If this does not work, did you try to switch off Cellular Data, restart the phone and switch it back on again?

  • Why my apps can't be disable on USE CELLULAR DATA FOR under Cellular settings

I came across an issue that my apps tend to stay on ( enable ) even when I disabled it manually, it will turn back on soon after, this can cause certain people data overage and extra data cost they did not expect. I always check my settings daily because I play with my phone numerous times a day so I noticed any changes or differences. So after I had done probably most people have tried, reset/restart the phone, check any latest OS updates, double check any settings, reset network settings, turn off and on data, turn on and off airplane mode, the conclusion is nothing. So I thought maybe i should try one app that I know kept turning back on when I disabled it, did the updates on the appstore, went back to the settings and I was able to turn on and off, tried the second app just to make sure my  assumption works, updated the newest version on appstore, it works. So I decided to update all of the apps, then the problem is FIXED ! I hope this solve people's issue. Now I am able to manually disable and enable any app under USE CELLULAR DATA FOR,It was lucky guess for me and it work.

Did you try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Appel logo comes back again? You will not lose data by resetting.
If this does not work, did you try to switch off Cellular Data, restart the phone and switch it back on again?

  • Hi I  newly started using Iphone 6, I am not getting all the applications list under Use Cellular date for to restrict my unwanted apps on cellular data

Hi I  newly started using Iphone 6, I am not getting all the applications list under Use Cellular date for to restrict my unwanted apps on cellular data
    Please help me out

    Hi Rajesh778484,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that some of your applications are not appearing under Settings > Cellular on your iPhone so that you can restrict or allow use of cellular data. If you have some installed applications on your iPhone that are not showing here, the first troubleshooting step I would suggest would be to reset your iPhone. Please refer to the attached article for information on how to perform a reset.

  • Why can't I disable certain apps from using cellular data?

    (iPhone 4 on iOS 7.0.4)
I can't seem to turn off the ability for certain apps to use my cellular in the "Cellular" menu.  I would usually to go Settings>Cellular and begin turning on/off app from using cellular.  But now, I can't turn them off.  I would switch them off and turn off cellular, then I would turn the "cellular" option on and the same apps would have their switches on instead of off.  They would switch on automatically without my consent.
Before you say that maybe I have "allow changes" or "don't allow changes" on the cellular data use.  Even if I had one or the other, the manual changes gets ignored.
I have to have the "cellular restriction use" to allow changes to try to turn off the individual apps that have cellular data on. But the second I leave the sub menu or turn off and then on the cellular data, those same individual apps switch on by them selves.
What am I missing?  What is the new changes that isn't allowing me to decided which apps can use cellular data and which can't?
My only guess is that it's a problem based on 7.0.4.  I never had this problem before.  Sometimes though, I would have "Don't Allow Changes" locked on cellular usage, but some how manage to have the ability to turn them on and off where I shoulded.  They should be "greyed" out.

Yes. But you may still be able to download compatible versions.  You will have to download the App to iTunes on a computer or another device that does support the App using the same Apple Id you have on your iPad.  With that done you can follow these instructions from your iPad to get a compatible version:
