Why would you need an H.264 hardware encoding device?

I am a casual user of Adobe Premiere Pro and just upgraded to CS5.5. I have been reading threads and someone said that he has problems with the Matrox encoder. I can import my video and make and DVD so why would you need another hardware solution?

I don't know how it works on Windows but on the Mac it shows up as a QuickTime component. So any application that can export a QuickTime movie (QuickTime Player, Adobe Media Encoder, Compressor, etc) can export to this component and it will utilize the Matrox hardware.
Theoretically you could set your preview file format in Premiere to the Matrox component but I don't know how well it would work.

Why would you need to "zero out" more than once?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I have always wondered why a hard drive would need to be written over more than once for better security?
If it is writing ALL zeros what is there left to find? I just don't get it.

Hello! A random write could leave a few bits that might be salvadged while the "zero all data" maps out bad blocks and writes all zeros. Once should be enough. Tom

With icloud, why would you need an iphone larger than 16Gb

I am finally getting ready to get rid of my old broken down Droid. I am an apple user, but missed the iphone release with Verizon by about 1 month. Now that my contract is almost up, ready to switch over. My question is, if I have access to icloud on the phone, do I need any larger amount of memory that the 16Gb? Someone I work with was telling me that they sync photos and itunes with icloud and keep them off of their iphone to use up less memory? The only drawback I see there is you have to have wifi or data connection to access your stuff. Is there something else I'm missing? What's the benefit of going with the 32 vs 16 if I can store my data on icloud...besides what I mentioned.

All you guys are mistaking the Airprint system. Wireless printing is a Misnomer. Nothing prints wirelessly. Both the printer and the computer, or i or android device have to be all connected to the same LAN. They can be connected by a wire or a WiFi signal but they all must be on the same LAN.
Airprint is a Driverless printing system where No Specific Printer drivers have to be installed on the computer or other device. Even with the Airprint system both the printer and the device you are printing from have to be on the same LAN.

No, you need to do that to tell the compiler it is a
float, not a double. When assign to a double, you
don't need to tell the compiler it is a double. :)although nothing bad will happen if you do use a 'd' or 'D'.

Why can't I select just one album under artist view and listen to it from beginning to end anymore? Why would you change that?

Why can't I go under artist view in music app, select 1 of multiple albums by a specific artist and play the whole album from beginning to end? Why would you have it automatically shuffle between songs from several albums by the same artist automatically? How do we change this back to previous function because this is sucking big time for a music lover.

I agree this is a really dumb change and I really hope Apple changes it back to the way it was.
In iOS 6 and earlier when you were in the Music player and selected ARTIST it would show a list sorted by artist. When you selected the artist you wanted, it would show a list of their albums. Then you could select the album and see the list of songs. In iOS 7 after you select Artist, it displays the album and every track, so you have to scroll down through not only the album but every track on that album. That was a really stupid change on Apple's part. Makes no sense.

In iOS 7.0 you have to scroll down through all the songs to see the other albums. That can be a really pain if you have a large music collection.
Please Apple change it back to the way it was!! This didn't need to change!

hi, Why would I need another e-mail address. When .me came out I thought that .mac would be erased so I gave everyone my .me account (even though I prefered the .mac name) the .mac continued to work and now everyone sends me TWO e-mails which arrive at exactly the same place. I can understand if the e-mails arrive at different mail boxes, then you could give your family one, your business another, your kids school a third, but why... why 3 accounts that go to exactly the same place. Just give out the one email address you want to use. They are all the same account anyway. People do not need to send emails to both email addresses so tell them to only use the one you prefer.

1.)because it stear's you towards useing oop style programing.
since nearly everything relate's to object oriented programing.
2.)this forum alone. is a reason thier are comprehensive example's for beginers. and so many people many very freindly and dont mind answering a question. Other beginners are here also who share what they know with each other.
3.)learing curve for useing the language and geting started immediately is good.
4.)once you learn java and then goto c++ you have another probably better perspective on how to code.
5.)codeing in java avoids deconstructors pointers and direct manipulation of reference's. which can be very confuseing for beginers
and deals with variables that directly point to the computer's memory.
and proper deallocation of memory.
though im just a begginer myself i started trying c++ and switched to java.
however thier are somethings in java that can be as complex as c++
when pointers or reference's are needed but not available.

and maybe find
for cryptic details use the man command
Macintosh-HD -> Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal
man SetFileInfo
You may use the SetFileInfo command to set the file type & the program which will open the file.

I had the problem where I could not do this earlier and found the solution on this forum.
However I still do not understand the reason for this.

Hi, Nori,
If you have the red and blue rectangle selected and the Fill square selected in the tool panel, as at bottom left, then hold the shift key down and click with the eyedropper on the green stroke in the upper rectangle, then the red fill will turn green but the stroke stays blue. If you select Stroke, as at bottom right, then shift-click with the eyedropper on the green stroke, the blue stroke will turn green but the fill stays red. With Fill selected and shift-click on the yellow fill, the red fill turns yellow; with Stroke selected the blue stroke turns yellow. If you do not depress the shift key, the red and blue rectangle will become yellow and green.
It's complicated to explain, but I think that if you try it step by step it will make sense to you.

Why do you need a credit card when no money due

I recently was trying to add an older 3G IPad to my Verizon account. Went through all the steps online and then went to check out. We currently have 4 phones and 1 other IPad on this account. Anyway everything is fine until I go to check out. The total for this transaction was $0.00 but Verizon still wanted a credit card to complete the transaction. Why would a $0.00 transaction require a credit card. In today's world why would you even want the responsibility of taking that information if no money was due? Furthermore I asked the online chat person why and they said for verification purposes, really a dumb answer as I was logged in to my Verizon account already to do the transaction. Needless to say I did not complete the transaction. I refuse to give out credit card information when there was no money due, especially considering I refuse to have a credit card. Furthermore I am not giving out debit card information that is tied directly to my personal bank account. Note to the people who do your website coding. Don't require a credit card for a $0.00 transaction when the person is already logged in to their Verizon account. Probably not a big deal to Verizon as they only lost the activation fee and the $10 a month charge to have the device plus the possible uptick in data usage. It seems like a really dumb business decision on their part though.

That just doesn't cut it. 1. They were not shipping me anything. 2. I was logged in to my Verizon account which will let me change the whole data limit etc without a credit card. The requirement was nonsensical as I already had the IPad and just wanted to add it as a new device to an already established account with multiple devices. Again Verizon's choice but a really bad business decision to require a credit card for an established account with over 7 years of account history with you guys when you were shipping nothing and their was no money due for this transaction.
