Wi-Fi access using DLink DIR 615

I just bought my IPad this Saturday. Can't get Wi-Fi access using my DLink DIR 615 router at home. This router supports my brother's laptop w/no problem. My IPad works fine with other hotspots

Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
A few things to try when having issues like this, in order of use:
1. Make sure the router firmware is up to date.
2. Reboot the router by full power off and on.
3. Reboot the iPad by full power off and on.
4. Reset WiFi on the iPad, Settings > WiFi > forget the network and then reinstall the network info by hand.
It is very important to check and make sure the router is using fully updated firmware, especially since you said you are able to connect at other hotspots.

HP 8500A wireless printer can't find my wireless network (but my computer does) using DLink DIR 615.

HP 8500A Wireless All In One has been working fine for ages (minor occasional hickups), but now can't get it to print. Computer still picks up my wirelss network fine. Printer works on all other stand alone pieces. But, one day it stopped printing, so checked wireless signal. Dlink DIR-615 not finding connection?

Hi all, I just acquired a Dlink DIR-615 wireless network for my KDE run laptop and all seems to be good on paper but in practice i cannot connect to a web page.
i can find the box in my wifi, it shows as linked at 100%, yet on firefox it shows that the page could not be found!? ive been looking around but im not sure where to find the solution to the issue does anyone know what i could do to improve the issue? Let me know if you need more info im still green at arch if possible a little simplistic explanation would be much appreciated.

The good news is that I think your router will work just fine. Mine supports an Arch Laptop, a Macbook, a Wii, and an HP printer via wireless.
Are you using WPA or WPA-2?
Are you using TKIP or or only allowing AES?
Are you using b,g, or pseudo-n?
What is your laptop's wireless hardware?
In my case I am using the broadcom wl driver on an 802.11g link. I have the router configured for WPA-2 Only with AES encryption
When I was setting up my system, I found that if the encryption was mis-configured, I could connect to the router and could "Ping" it. Like you, however, I could not send or receive usable packets.
Here is my modules line from /etc/.rc.conf
MODULES=(hp_wmi !ssb !b43 lib80211_crypt_tkip wl acpi-cpufreq cpufreq-ondemand cpufreq_conservative cpufreq_powersave)
Again, this is for the broadcom wl driver. Notice that I specifically excluded TKIP encryption. The prohibition on ssb and b43 are required only if one is using the Broadcom wl driver.

A1irport card wont connect to Dlink DIR-615

In my case, I have an original Airport card installed in an iMac G3 400. I can see my network and attempt to connnect to it but it never connects and says "there was an error joining "network name"". The thread above did not seem to offer any resolution to the problem. Does anyone have any ideas? I have the router set to allow connections to b, g, and n networks (I have a newer iMac to with an n card installed so need that).

Did you try turning OFF security on the router temporarily? Get it working without security, then turn it back ON.
Also, if security is turned ON, are you using the WPA security protocol? Most 802.11b AirPort cards support WPA under Mac OS X, but the earliest ones do not. They all support the earlier WEP protocol.
You may also want to reset the router. They often have a recessed button you can press to reset it. First, get the iMac to connect to router (that is using its default settings). Then, if any special settings are needed for your setup, change them. If the iMac stops connecting at some point, at least you know what setting change caused the issue.

D-Link DIR-615 cannot access wirelessly with iPhone 3G

I've added another router to my home to get better range in the far corners of the house. I added a D-Link DIR-615 hard wired to my first router. I can access this new router both by cable and wirelessly with my laptop, but not wirelessly with my iPhone.
I've tried making the password all letters, (saw a post that said numbers don't work??) and even taking out the password and leaving it blank. The iPhone sees the router and identifies it by name. When I try connecting, after entering the password, it says "unable to connect to network". IO can connect to my first router with the iPhone.
Any suggestions? I'm using WEP for encription, except when I tried it with no passwords! Thanks!

A few ideas:
Often the power on sequence is the determining factor in if/how DHCP will work. Especially when it comes to consumer-grade cable modems and routers. Try different power on sequences.
Try to figure out if your cable modem is storing and enforcing the MAC address of one of your devices. Take the router out of the picture, attach your MBP, and see if it works. Then leave the modem on, unhook the MBP, and plug in a Windows laptop. If it doesn't work, then your modem wants/needs to only see one MAC address. If this is the case, look in your routers settings for "Spoof this computer's MAC Address" and you should be good to go.
One trick I've used in the past is to assign an entirely new subnet for the router to hand out. For example if it used to give out 192.168.1.x, the new subnet would be set to 10.1.1.x. This forces every system and rebuild its caches. Too many times routers, controllers, OSes, apps, and even hardware like phones keep caches to help speed things up. It's not always obvious how to reset these. But by switching subnets you force every device to rebuild the caches.

D-link router DIR-615, Can't access internet with Airport Wireless 802.11B

It is a known issue with many Dlink routers that with the router wireless settings on "802.11 B,G,N" it will NOT work with your G3/ some G4 wireless cards that ONLY support 802.11B.
Enter 192.168.0.1 in your address bar to access your Dlink router. Go to settngs....wireless settings...
Go to your router settings and select "802.11B" ONLY or "802.11 B and G". This will solve the problem. D-link is aware.
I was told they will be coming out with updated firmware to correct the issue.

It's almost better to have a 2nd router for the older B cards anyway because running in multi mode with the 615, it's not a dual band device, so you won't see any speed benefits in G or N. better to run B/G anyway.

FIX - D-Link Model DIR-615

Hi All,
My IPad was constantly losing its connection to my D-Link router but seemed to be working OK with the wireless network at work (not sure what hardware is used there). I first tried changing the D-Link from 802.11b/g/n to 802.11n only with no success. I then updated the firmware and that has seemed to do the trick (immediately and ever since the firmware upgrade I have had no dropped connections and it now instantly connects to the network after waking).
I know this won't help everyone, but I certainly understand the frustration this is causing and hopefully this info can help at least a few of you...Good luck!

I did not see the DIR-615 but checked the manuals in Dlink's website and they seem similar. Also check to see if the UPnP is enabled.

Unable to connect to DLINK DIR-825 router

I am trying to connect to a condo public wifi which uses a DLINK DIR-825 router. The network name and password is posted. I select the network in my wifi settings, and enter the password, and the iPad returns "Unable to join. Incorrect password". I have shutdown my iPad, restarted the router, and attempted to join the network several times, to no avail. Password is PSK2.

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app
    •    Tap on Wi-Fi
    •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

D-Link Dir-615 internet problems

Hi All, I am not posting this for help. I came across a problem and could not find any help on the net that would solve it. So this is to help anyone whom might have similar problems.
First, let me give you the scenario. I have SBC DSL as my ISP and the 2Wire modem/router took a dump. I looked for a modem/router combo that was 802.11 (N) compliant. There are a few but the prices were a little above what I wanted to pay. So I ended up buying a DSL modem and a D-Link DIR-615. I set the modem to "Bridge Mode" and followed the set up instructions from D-Link. After the setup some web pages were stalling and timing out. I noticed this on HTTPS pages mostly but also pages on the Apple site too. I then went to Safari and used the "Activity Window" to show me why.
Well the cure for this, which I have not been able to find anywhere on the net, was to "Disable" QoS on the DIR-615. After that...greased lightning speeds.
Hope this helps anyone that might be suffering with the same problems.

This is because your Mac is connecting to your router but is failing to obtain an IP address via DHCP.
Is your Mac still set up to obtain an address automatically via DHCP?
If so, try the following sequence:
1) Disconnect from your D-Link
2) Power off the cable modem and router.
3) Power on the cable modem and wait until its status lights indiciate it is connected to its network.
4) Power on the D-Link and wait until its status lights state it is connected.
5) Try to reconnect to the D-Link on your Mac.

IPhone connectivity issues with D-Link DIR-615 router

Hello everyone,
I was using video streaming with DIR-615 (firmware 3.11.NA) without any trouble earlier.
After upgrading iPhone to iOS v7.0.4 (firmware 04.12.09), I am having trouble with my wifi on iPhone.
After playing the video for a minute or two, the video stops and it shows it is still loading.
The Wifi shows full reception signal however no internet is coming.
If I reconnect the iphone with wifi by turning it off & on, the internet works back.
And the problem repeats if I play the video again.
If I don't play the video the internet works on wifi in my iphone perfectly without dropping.

OK, this printer requires 802.11g mode, so make sure that is enabled in your new router. 802.11n and other modes can also be live, but g must be present.
Also, make sure your SSID is being broadcast and you are not using MAC filtering.

(Macbook Pro - Airtunes - Dlink DIR-655 - Airport Express) doesn't work

To all that might be having this same issue, I have confirmed with Apple that it is a problem (and the case has been escalated). In a nutshell, I am trying to stream music from my Macbook Pro to the network which will then talk to the airport express boxes.
The Macbook Pro has an N-airport extreme card.
The Dlink Router (DIR-655) has the Draft-N 2.0 spec.
The Airport expresses are connected to my network.
I have no problems using my Powerbook G4 with a 802.11g-equipped wireless card in this situation.
My Macbook Pro, iTunes SEES the airport express, but when trying to play a song, the track sits at 0:00 and does not move(play).
My Macbook Pro has no issues connecting to the internet, it just cannot stream music through.
I have confirmed that the Macbook Pro CAN stream music to the airport express when they are on their own network (taking the Dlink router out of the setup).
Why or why did Apple not include gigabit ethernet on their wireless base station!!!!!
If anybody has or knows of a fix, I would be glad to hear it. If anybody has this configuration, but it works with a different wireless router with gigabit ethernet and Draft-N wireless, I would love to hear from you as well!
Macbook Pro (Core 2 Duo) Mac OS X (10.4.9)

I have been having problems with my dlink dir 625 n router as well and after months of problems I finally fixed the problem. The funny thing was that everything worked fine with my imac... it was the macbook pro's airport that wasn't seeing the router correctly.
I just enabled wap2 on the router as the security setting and for some reason now everything is running as it should, upload and connectivity are great!

replacing my HH2.

On the bottom of the router is a label which will give you the version number of the router.
Something like this.
H/W Ver : D4 F/W Ver:1.00VG.
From that you now know you have a D4 router which is all the info you need.
Now you need either the D-Link stock firmware for it or the custom DD-WRT firmware.
This guide is for the DD-WRT firmware but stock should be similar.
I'm not putting everything in one long post as I want to guide Brinnie as much as possible rather then just post and leave him to it so it will be in stages.
Go here and enter 615 in the search bar. Click on the version you have and download the factory webflash .bin file.
Once you have it Brinnie post back. If you have any probs post back.

Dir-615 wifi connection problem

after reconfiguring my router my win7 notebook sees the router but will not connect. my win vista works ok. my win7 will connect to a nearby netgear router ok. any suggestions?????

Airport Extreme Card wont connect to D-Link DIR-615 (wireless N router)

Hi, I got an old Mac G5 that has the airport extreme card in it and can't connect to the internet through with my D-Link DIR-615. I tried a couple options on a MAC but didn't work. I have a Laptop running Windows Vista and had no problem connecting. I'm using WPA for security and my password has 31 characters. Do you guys think That I have to change the length of my password to 26 or even less? Is there any guide that you guys may know that cuold help me on this issue?

This would be telling me that your G5's AirPort is NOT "seeing" the D-Link's wireless network as encrypted with WPA, but with WEP instead. This typically can be caused by either the D-Link's current configuration is incompatible with the AirPort card or that there is something amiss with the AirPort card itself.
BTW, My D-Link has WEP, WAP-Personal and WAP-Enterprise
Ok, we will want to stick with either WEP or WPA-Personal.
We now have two choices: 1) Continue to troubleshoot additional configuration changes to the D-Link to try to get WPA to work with your G5, or 2) Switch to the lower strength encryption: WEP.
Which would you prefer to try?

Iphone and Ipad are not detecting airprinters with Dlink DIR-651

Since changing my router to a Dlink DIR-651, my apple deivces are not detecting airprinters.
Dlink says I need to open ports on the router.
Please advise.

Hi..I've had a variant of this problem; my internet was accessible but my devices on wifi could not see the PC on Lan. That meant no iTunes syncing, Airplay from iTunes etc.
Dlink has a strange default setting that isolates Wifi & Wired connections into different subnets.I'm assuming you have DHCP setup on your router and you're PC or MAC has internet access via the same router. Try the following steps to see if this solves the problem for you; first Log into your DLINK admin page-
1. Go to Setup -> Local Network and Uncheck the box that says 'Configure the second IP Address and Subnet Mask for LAN' - Hit Apply
2. Go to Wireless -> Wireless Basic and Uncheck 'Enable MultiAP Isolation' - Hit Apply
3. Restart your Router
You do not need to port forward. Just get the Wired & Wireless devices on the same Subnet.
Let me know if this solves your problem. I've been frustrated by my problem for months & had nearly given up.
