Wi-Fi Connection lost in sleep mode

After upgrading to 3.0, my Wi-Fi connection is lost as soon the iPhone gets into sleeping mode. After unlocking the connection doesn't wake up. New Bug?

there's now an option to Auto-Join each specific network. It might default to no for your wifi network. Just clock on the blue arrow next to the network name and tell it to Auto-Join.

Wireless Connection Lost in Sleep Mode

I connect to the Internet via an Airport Extreme Base Station and a Toshiba cable modem. It worked fine since I bought it in February, but in the past couple of days, my Powerbook loses the connection with the Airport whenever it goes into Sleep Mode and I have to go back into System Preferences and reselect the Base Station to regain it.
I've tried resetting the Airport preferences and turning off the computer to reboot. I've also reset the Base Station itself.
Any suggestions?

Let's see. So you bought 250mb data and ran thru it, then purchased unlimited.
People seem to not understand a few things. First, 250mb of data is nothing. If you are not a "techie type" perhaps you should have researched exactly what you can do with 250mb. Ten images from my Nikon are OVER 250mb. Second, you paid 15 bucks for 250mb data and as I said, ran thru it. You got your 15$ worth of data. What do you want refunded??
Third, then instead of waiting until your month was up and you got another allotment of 250mb you didn't want to wait and chose to go on the unlimited plan. That plan started that day and will last for 30 days. What exactly do you feel should be refunded? The 250 you used, or the unlimited which you plan to use?
So to recap:
1. You have no idea how much data you can stream for 250mb.
2. You paid for 250mb data and used 250mb data.
3. You then paid for unlimited data, which is your current situation.
4. You then called Apple (which has nothing to do with AT&T billing) and are now mad because no other cell phone provider has the micro sim AND come here to trash the "techie type" who honestly answered your question.

It's not broken. Don't put your computer to sleep manually and do change your Sleep settings on the Energy Saver pane of System Preferences. Your entire system can operate without interuption when "Put the display to sleep" is activated, so that time can be shortened while you lengthen the amount of time the computer will be awake to something more convenient - or set it to "never."

Connection lost after sleep mode

When my computer comes out of sleep mode, it's not connecting to the Airport wireless connection. Waiting doesn't seeme to matter...the icon on my iMac (upper right on screen) shows no connection. I have to manually turn off Airport and turn it back on to get it to connect (turning it off and on using the icon).
I have made zero changes to my system, other than that we moved to a new home. No equipment changes...no settings changes. What the heck is going on to cause it to no longer connect when coming out of sleep mode? And more importantly, how do I fix that? Thanks very much!

Try the following, in order, until (hopefully) resolved:
1a. Delete Preferred Network(s)
System Preferences > Network > AirPort > Advanced > AirPort tab
Under "Preferred Networks," delete the network(s) you regularly use from the list.
1b. Delete AirPort Keychain Entries
Launch the "Keychain Access" application located in Applications/Utilties.
Click on the "Kind" filter at the top, and look for any "AirPort network password" entries...and delete them.
1c. Add Preferred Network(s)
System Preferences > Network > AirPort > Advanced > AirPort tab
Add the preferred network(s) using the "+" button.
Restart or log out then back in.
2. Move System Configuration Files
(Note: You will have to reestablish your network connections settings.)
Go to /Library/Preferences
Move the SystemConfiguration folder to the desktop.
Restart your Mac. (Note: OS X will rebuild the files that are now sitting on your desktop. If this doesn't resolve the issue, you can move the folder back to it's original location.)

Bluetooth connection lost after sleep mode

I'm using a bluetooth keyboard with my iPhone. It works great. However, if the phone goes into sleep mode, it does not keep the connection and I have to re-establish the connection through settings each time. Is there a way to keep the connection or have it automaticaly reconnect?

I use the Apple bluetooth. When I sleep my iPad it actually puts the keyboard to sleep. Probably to save the batteries. When I wake the iPad, I still have to go to the Bluetooth and reconnect via the iPad. The keyboard automatically turns back on so I don't have to power it on. I think that is the best you could hope for.

Airport connection lost after sleep mode

Hello everbody,
Each time I send my PowerMac G4 MDD Dual 867 to sleep it won't to connect to my (or rather to any) Airport network anymore after waking up, it just seems as if Airport is completely defunct after waking up.
My iBook G4 works without any problems on the same network, by the way.
I know the workaround with restarting IPv4 networking (described here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1122310&#1122310) and I have also created an AppleScript for automatising this process, however I am still wondering, if this issue will ever be addressed by Apple, since it is still present for me in 10.4.6.

Okay, this might not solve your problem, but I had a similar problem when I switched from WPA2 to WEP on my Airport, therefore also changing the password which again somehow got my Powerbook confused.
I went into System Preferences > Network > Airport and looked at my "Preferred Networks" list (Not "By default, join..." > "Automatic"). Then I edited my airport network in that list (the small "Edit" button) and I saw that the password somehow was corrupted. When I corrected this error my Powerbook began joining automatically after sleeping again. Strangely, this setting has nothing to do with the Keychain Access, even though you can find your base station's password there too...
Oh, and I might add: My airport is on a closed network and is therefore not "visible"...

There is no output from that command line? Maybe the pid changed.
I'll repeat what I am trying to find out...
1. You do a pmset -g on the terminal.
2. The output from that pmset should have a line that says "sleep 0 (imposed by n)" where n is some number.
3. The ps ax | grep n is supposed to display what the process associated with n is.
It's the output from step 3 that should indicate what is causing you not to sleep.
But speaking of sleep, that's where I am going.

Lost Bluetooth Connection when in Sleep-Mode

Hey,
when i have three devices hooked up with bluetooth to my 2009 27" imac (keyboard, magic mouse, magic trackpad) it randomly looses its bluetotth connection.
so i have no possibility to type my password to log in.
it mostly happens when the mac is in sleep-mode for longer period of time like over night or so.
i have to restart the system with on/off-button which realy ***** ...
does somebody have the same probs? or better a solution?

My 3gs disconnects from my wi-fi at night while plugged into my wall charger causing my AT&T data usage to go over my 200mb plan. I like to listen to a radio app overnight and this situation is quite annoying. AT&T forgave the overage but had NO solution to my paltry wi-fi delimma. I am going to try the "sync while connected to wi-fi" setting in I-Tunes but I am almost afraid to try it again because the overage may not be forgiven this time and It's not worth the hassle. I have been using my Macbook instead for this duty with no worries of an overage. I'm also a Pandora fan and this has limited me to just using my I-Tunes library for music instead of Pandora. This is a problem that benefits AT&T and I'm sure they bill for LOTS of overages because of this problem. I hope the I-Tunes solution will FIX this glitch.

I've had this iMac a little over a year and had not experienced this until a few days ago. Every time my computer comes out of sleep mode the wifi is no longer connected. I must turn it off wifi and turn it back on again to re-establish a connection. Any suggestions? Thx!

After reviewing your post, it sounds like after the computer wakes from sleep it does not connect to the internet. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

After waking from sleep or starting up, your computer may not show that it is connected to a Wi-Fi network.
After start or wake, your computer may indicate that it is connected to a network, but does not connect to the Internet.
Solution
Use these steps if your computer does not automatically connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
Check your TCP/IP settings in the Network pane of the System Preferences. Click the "Renew DHCP lease" button
Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu.
Choose Network from the View menu.
Select Wi-Fi, then click the Advanced button in the lower-left hand corner of the screen.
Click the TCP/IP tab from the top of the screen.
Click the "Renew DHCP lease" button.
Select the Wi-Fi tab and view your Preferred Networks list.

Server connections are lost after sleep mode with Mavericks.

Ever since I "upgraded" to Mavericks, when I "wake" my iMac after putting it in Sleep mode, the network connections have disconnected and I have to re-connect all of them (6) every day. This never happened with Mountain Lion or any other previous version of OS X. Is there a fix for this?

I've also noticed this problem. Brand new MBP with Mavericks, goes to sleep, on wakeup all my network drives are disconnected, as is Outlook 2011. None of them recover gracefully - I have to manually reconnect. Aggravating..

Test after taking each of the following steps. Back up all data before making any changes.
1. Make sure the network is on the preferred list by following these instructions.
2. Follow the instructions in this support article under the heading "Symptom: The network connection drops unexpectedly."
3. Make a note of all your settings for Wi-Fi in the Network preference pane, then delete the connection from the connection list and recreate it with the same settings. You do this by clicking the plus-sign icon below the connection list, and selecting Wi-Fi as the interface in the sheet that opens. Select Join other network from the Network Name menu, then select your network. Enter the password when prompted and save it in the keychain.
4. Launch the Keychain Access application. Search for and delete all AirPort network password items that refer to the network. Make a note of the password first.
5. In some cases, the problem has been resolved by repairing permissions on the startup volume.
6. Reinstall OS X.

MacBook Air wireless connection problem after sleep mode

My MacBook Air have problems to connect back to my wireless after comming back from sleep mode. It needs few minutes until it finds again the network.

Wireless Connection lost after sleep: iMac 27-inch

When my iMac goes into sleep mode, or logs off after pre-determined time, it loses the wireless connection to the router. I then have to go to the upper right of the screen, select my router from the list of available routers, and force a connection.
Has anybody else experienced the inability to maintain persistent wireless connections?

I had the same problem for weeks with my new 27" iMac. I tried resetting p-ram, adjusting network settings, throwing out preferences for network settings - - - everything! Nothing worked. I final called Apple support and they told me to unplug EVERYTHING from the Mac, including power, wait 30 seconds, and reboot.
Works fine now.

I have the same problem. After waking up the MBP from sleep, my connection to my external Volume via AFP is lost. (ML 10.8.2.)
Though i checked a lot of forums, but didn't find out how to solve this problem.

My Photosmart Plus printer seems to lose connectivity when in sleep mode, how can I fix this?

My new photosmart plus appears to loose it's connection when it goes to sleep. At least the printers status page online says it's not connected, even though it is visible in my router and the blue light next to the antenna of the printer is on. It also appears to be connected when I poke around in the printer's settings, but if I want to print something from an app or via e-mail I have to run the wireless wizard again, select my netgear and enter the password. Once connected I get a screen where I supposedly can skip printing a report, but that does not work either, it prints no matter what I select, waste of paper and ink.
I searched around but found no solution that would work for me.
Tech info:
wireless conection to my cable modem with Netgear router
Macbook pro and an older HP laptop are in use.
Security is WPA2-PSK [AES]
I like the machine a lot, but this is rather anoying, what can I do to keep the connection when the printer sleeps?

Does the printer not wake from sleep for both the Mac and PC?
You may want to try setting a static IP address for the printer:
- Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
- Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
- Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
- On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. Enter the current IP address.
- Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
- Leave the gateway and DNS blank. Click 'Apply'
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.
