Wi-Fi issue in 2014

Most of the posts I've read regarding the wi-fi issue are from 2013. Is there any solutions for 2014? My iPhone 4s no longer has a warranty. As a matter of fact, it is a refurbished one. However, when I first got it, I had absolutely no problems with the wi-fi software/hardware, (whichever it may be). So, is it the latest update to the operating system? ( I have iOS7.1.2, which I believe is the latest unless you get a whole new phone). A bug issue? Does Apple know? I really, really like my iPhone!! Just want it to work like it's supposed to without having to take it to a repair place, especially since it worked just fine when I got it!

What kind of wifi issue are you having? Have you taken any steps to try and resolve it yourself like resetting the phone?

Layer Mask issues cc 2014

So recently I installed CC 2014 and just two days ago the layer mask stopped allowing me to draw into the mask. I can lasso in the mask. I can switch to white and edit the mask with the brush. I can use erase and edit the mask. But I can't draw into the mask. This is HUGE problem in my workflow. Any suggestions to trouble shoot this would be great! Has anyone else encountered this? Is there an update that addresses this bug? Thanks!

It was set to normal. I read a response to a similar problem and a user had it set to dissolve. So I checked it just in case. It wasn't. Then I started having the same issue on a regular layer...So I grabbed my backup Cintiq pen to see if it was a Cintiq issue ( I have an older 21). It happened with that pen, as well. Then I opened the file in CS4 and everything is working fine....it limits me to the brushes I created in CS4 though. The long term issue of CC2014 will have to be resolved, because this seems like a bug. It's been working fine for a week and half until yesterday...

FaceTime issues between 2014 retina MacBook Pros

Another person with whom I have regular rMBP-to-rMBP FaceTime sessions can no longer initiate FT sessions to me without the message "...unavailable for FaceTime call..." appearing on screen. This happens even when I am available and expecting the call. Both of us use 2014 rMBP laptops running Yosemite 10.10.1. If I initiate the session, my call will only appear on the other person's iPhone...not their rMBP. Perhaps one of us is overlooking something... or perhaps it's related to Yosemite's 10.10.1 issues? I'm unable to determine the cause. Does this mimic a problem experienced by anyone else?

Capture/Ingest issue Premiere 2014

hi we are having issues with capture on Premiere Pro.
System is:

Blackmagic Ultra Studio 4k
Digibeta/DVCAM
MAC MINI
We are going in SDI with embedded audio at SD 720x576 ingesting to PRORES HQ
1. Audio goes out of Sync especially on longer Captures.
2. We have issues Capturing over approx 60 mins, capture just stops, file becomes corrupt.
3. We have several tapes where the audio has dropped out after a period, but the Video continues and the capture carries on.
We are trying remote/crash record no different.
If anyone can offer any help it would be appreciated.

I use Lumetri. That comes with the 2014 build though. I see no reason why it should be slowing Premiere down so much.
As I said, these issues didn't exist with Premiere CC. Have any more significant ideas as to why this is happening?
File import is also extremely slow.

*.indd file extension issue - InDesignCC 2014 - Windows 7

I cannot get any file with the *.indd file extension to associate with InDesignCC 2014 in windows 7. When I try to use the "Open With" option, InDesignCC 2014 will not show up in the programs list, even if I manually select it. Should I uninstall / reinstall or is there another workaround?

Semi-transparent Screen Issue X1 2014

Hey
I have this strange issue with my X1 (had it for a few months now but had the issue since the beginning).
Some colors, such as grey, make the edges of my screen semi-transparent as in I can see through to the application behind it.
I don't believe this is a screen issue but wondering if anyone else has experience this problem.
I have attached an image that makes it happen (try viewing it full screen and let me know what you see).

Your descriptions "semi-transparent screen" and "app behind the screen" are very confusing and it's difficult to understand what you mean.
What exactly is the running state of the computer? What apps are running in your photos (with the "XO" in the first picture and the vertical bar in the second picture)? Describe steps to produce the result.
I think you're saying that you are running one app and launch another app on top of it, and you can see the first app bleeding through. The first app isn't really bleeding through -- it was burned into screen (also known as image retention or ghosting). It's a screen display hardware problem that is common on some models of Lenovo laptops.

Photoshop CC 2014 - Interface Lag, Slow to Update

This issue appears on both OSX 10.9.5 Mavericks on an iMac 2.9 Ghz i5, 8GB Ram, 512 vRam Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M and on a MacBookPro Late 2013 with 2.4GHZ Quad i7, 16GB Ram, 2GB vRam Geforce (Don't have laptop in front of me for exact settings at the moment)
It doesn't occur ALL the time but very frequently. The issue is that I will be working on a file with multiple layers of all sorts, shapes and sizes, then I will SAVE that file, CLOSE it and the go to work on another file and the layers from the previous file are still showing on the Layers Panel. If I go to click on a layer, the old layers will vanish but the layer I selected would be wrong. If I go to select the next layer it will highlight the one I had previous selected, then if I click on a different layer, it would highlight the one I was just trying to select. Like there is a lag in between what is actually selected and what is highlighted.
When this happens ALL of the UI starts to lag. The Character and Paragraph boxes start to lag, for example: trying to set text size or Leading, I would go to type in my size and it won't show. I will tab out of it and it still won't show. If I click off of it and back into it it will refresh and finally be updated to what I entered.
The Tool Bar at the top, I guess is what its called? Where you have your Brush settings if you have the brush tool active, or you have some text settings visible when the text tool is active, this will also be lagged. If I have the Brush tool selected, the Move Tool settings will be showing.
It's all very laggy. I can fix it by quitting Photoshop and re-starting it, but seeing how this happens almost after every file I open it's a major pain since I build like 30 a day where I work.
It's not all the time and there isn't a real rhyme or reason to it. It some times just happens after a long period of time. And it isn't directly relative to how many things I have going on outside of Photoshop. Most of the time I have Chrome running, Mac Mail, Photoshop, Illustrator, Filezilla, Distiller and Acrobat open. But the problem still persists even when Photoshop is running all on its own after a fresh reboot.
I tried uninstalling and re-installing Photoshop CC completely on both machines but it still seems to be a problem. CC didn't have this issue, just 2014.
I don't know what the issue is. Its not a MAJOR issue since quitting the Application and Restarting it fixes it but its an unneeded inconvenience.

Check your Edit - Preferences - Performance settings.
Note: Make changes methodically, and close and reopen Photoshop after making any change, to ensure you're testing with the updated settings.
1. Make sure Cache Levels is set to 4 or more - I suggest 6.
2. In the GPU section, under [Advanced Settings...] try changing to one of the alternate Drawing Modes.
3. Check the web site of the manufcaturer of your video card (in your case, nvidia.com) for an updated display driver for your operating system and hardware, and download/install if one has been released.
4. Try resetting all Photoshop preferences to defaults by pressing and holding Control - Shift - Alt immediately upon cold-starting Photoshop. You have to be quick to get the keys down, and if you are quick enough it will prompt to confirm deletion of your preferences, which will lead to creation of a new default set.
I don't know what you mean by "compressing cache", but it doesn't sound like anything I've ever heard that's restorative to Photoshop performance.

Muse CC 2014.1 becomes totally unresponsive on opening site created in 2014.0

Since upgrading to 2014.1 Muse freezes on opening my last current project and becomes completely unresponsive every time.. I had no issues on 2014.0.   The only thing I can see is it has is "Project Name - Converted" I can't interact with it, and stuck with a beach ball. I have to use Activity Monitor to force quit. I have at least 3 other muse site files doing the exact same thing. None of these are that terribly complicated or large.
OSX 10.9.4, fully up to date.   I have closed all apps, completely rebooted and still having the same issue.   Anyone else having similar problems?   I have the "Force quit" error report I can private message to support.
Edit:   I have emailed the muse file to [email protected]   As stated above, this is not the only site that is a problem, but the main one I need to work on.

I believe the hang on open is a result of Muse attempting to check to see whether In-Browser Editing has been used to make updates to your published site and the FTP server on the host being slightly misconfigured. Muse uses FTP Extended Passive Mode (EPSV). It's generally the preferred mode for optimal performance, but we're finding some hosting providers have FTP servers configured such that EPSV is not supported or EPSV only works if you're inside the same firewall as the FTP server. The ftpPrefs.xml file above, turns off EPSV mode. So if that is the problem in this case, putting that file in place should enable you to successfully open your .muse files and upload to your FTP host without hanging/crashing.
Please give this a try and let us know whether or not it enables you to open your files and use File > Upload to FTP Host from within Muse. Thanks.

2014.1 - Appearance of scripts is incorrect

There are visual errors in various scripts when using them with the new 2014.1 update. Key example - the 'Immigration' script. A major part of this script's UI is a large white text list area where the user is able to import multiple sequences at the same time.
In 2014.1 this text area is dark grey - almost the same grey colour as the main script bg colour itself, while there is an un-needed white area above the text box. The first time I used the script I couldn't even see the text box.
I didn't see this in the list of known issues for 2014.1. Why was this not picked up on before release? It should not be necessary for 3rd party developers to have to recompile scripts and users to have to update their script libraries for a .1 release!
I am not attempting to be over-the-top negative, I just want my feedback to be heard by the relevant people:
please do not release an update for the software until it's ready. Trying to use 2014.1 is a real mess with all these very noticeable issues! Adobe already has tonnes of people roped into subscription, they are not going to mind waiting a month extra for stability. If it's not recommended to download an update, it shouldn't be announced as 'ready to download'. It should be labeled 'beta pre-release'.

I had thought this would be the answer to my own issue, but sadly it is not. I have a script that has 10 buttons on it, in two columns. The dockable script, no matter in legacy mode or not, now cuts off the bottom two buttons and clips the right column. I've also noticed this behavior in some of Conform Studios scripts that I also use. The funny thing is, the panels render properly on my desktop, which was upgraded from 2014 to 2014.1, but on my laptop where 2014.1 was installed natively, they do not.
Any thoughts? Below is my code.

Dreamweaver CC 2014: Does it scale under Windows (and a 4K-Display)

In April the renowned computer magazin c't published an article about 4K displays (issue 10/2014 page 123).
They wrote: No product from Adobe is usable (they really used that word) with a 4K display under Windows (7/8) because they do not scale.
The interface elements will be so tiny, that they cannot be used at all.
My question:
Did that changed with the latest version of Dreamweaver?

There are many other applications which can deal with the scaling method of windows 8.
Really hard to understand, why Adobe has decided not to support scaling.
The future will show, if that was a economically reasonable decision.
All potentiell buyers of Adobe products who own a 4K display will not buy a license.
I hope, that the impossibility of the usage with a 4K display is mentioned in the system requirements soon.

Premier 2014. My advice is to not upgrade if you have any current projects

Huge issues with 2014, so I uninstalled it and am now trying to pick up the pieces from my project.
Just some advice. Expect issues when you upgrade, so don't do it if you are in the middle of a project. 2014 would run on my newish machine, but would not run any clip or run the timelime. The PLAY button did not work and the ELDs imported from another current project, it could find none of the media, although it was there, and the edit EDL was incomplete.

You are right in the title of your post.
Adobe has at least a twenty year history of having bugs in major updates..........this is not speculation but fact.
Ironically, on some systems the bugs do not show yet on others it causes mayhem.
My advice for many years is to wait until the principle bugs are eradicated, then fully backup or clone the boot drive, then update.
Me I have a clone boot drive and use that for testing, if all OK clone that over original.
Manage the system in a way that suits but if you do not backup........expect problems and you deserve what you get

Convert Project vs New Project / Import

Hi,
I currently have both PP CC 7.2.2 and 2014 8.0.0 installed on my Win 7 Pro machine, both of which have been running smooth and I personally haven't experienced and issues with 2014 8.0.0 - yet.
Over the last several versions of PP since about CS5 or so I think, I keep occasionally seeing messages where a user might have opened an existing project file that PP has "converted" to a new project file and might have performance issues. I often see responses where someone will say "Make a new project and import the old one"...or something to that effect.
Over the last few days I have let 2014 8.0.0 convert some of my existing 7.2.2 projects files. I would then do various test exports, work in the project, etc.
I then created some new 2014 8.0.0 projects and imported the 7.2.2 projects, and again, did the same test exports, etc.
I can't really find a difference or see a varying performance difference in either of the project files.
So my question is this....What is going on "under the hood" so to speak when the new(er) version of PP converts an existing project file (no matter the version number) to the newer version of PP versus creating a new project file (in the new version) and importing the old version?
I have hundreds of project files and I always like to convert them to the current version of the software so after several versions pass I don't get the "project is too old to convert" (which has happened to me in AE before).
So I am debating should I just let PP convert them or is there a benefit / performance difference to creating new project files and importing the old ones?

How to send email to a SMTP server over a secure channel using STARTTLS setting of a send connector (Exchange and SMTP server are in the same domain)

I’m trying to send email using exchange send connector STARTTLS setting to the SMTP server. I have read multiple documents on configuring TLS for send connector, but they talks about outbound connections to internet facing servers. My Exchange 2013 and SMTP
server is in the same domain (let’s say A.com) and I’m creating dummy domains on my SMTP server (e.g.
[email protected],
[email protected] ) and their respective send connectors on the exchange server end. In the smart host section added the IP address of the SMTP server and in the scoping section added the SMTP domain address (e.g. dummy1.local ). In the FQDN field, added
the FQDN of the exchange server 2013 which certificate is enabled with SMTP service.
Could you tell me a step by step procedure, where I’m going wrong or any extra settings needs to added?
Presently, it is giving me an error that 530 5.5.1 TLS encrypted connection is required.
Note: I’ve created the Microsoft CA certificates for the SMTP and exchange servers and imported them in the personal certificate container. In which, the exchange certificate is created with FQDN name of the server and enabled for the SMTP service.
I’m using OPENSSL certificate for making the SMTP server TLS enabled. (let me know, if I need to import the OPENSSL certificate anywhere on the exchange end)?

How can I export a Keynote presentation to a text file?

I am using Keynote to teach a course at university. One of the students is visually impaired and requires a text version of the presentation for use with his reading software. What's the easiest way to get my presentation into a text format for him?

This is a well known problem with Keynote 6.1, the only thing you can do is use Keynote 5.3 instead, if you have it.
Meanwhile sit back and wait to see if Apple issues a fix in the schedule of updates they said they would issue during 2014.
