Wi-Fi issue in OSX Lion 10.7.2
Shall i begin to say i love Apple and their great products so much! iI bought a 27'' iMac with snow leopard on it. I really was excited about OSX Lion, and it definilty make it expantasion clear it's a great os!
However since the upgrade to Lion there are some issues with the wi-fi conection it sometimes drops then i must reconect the iMac to my router then it works agian. Also the internet connection is very slow. i tried anything you can think of: Switch of wi-fi and then turn it on agian, remove the wi-fi and then enter the same router, switch security settings, switch the channel, reset DRAM it does't solve the problem. I really hope Apple can fix this issue,Aside from the Lion wi-fi drops my iPad had a issue with wi-fi as well under iOS 4.2 the wi-fi sometimes dropped under iOS 5 this is solved.
That does not work for me. I've done it numerous times on various wi-fi networks I use. On one unsecured network, the wi-fi connection came back automatically as I did other work, but I could not replicate how. Also, at two other locations that are important, and where I cannot influence the router settings (which work for all other user, as far as I can tell), I cannot restore the connection for the life of me. My wi-fi icon shows greyed-out bars with an exclamation point icon through the middle. I am on 10.7.4 now, but have had problems since 10.7.2. Here is some of the crap I get:

Triple Display Issue with OSX Lion
I have the following setup:
iMac OSX (Snow Leopard)
3.06 GHz Intel Core i3
4GB 1333 MHz DDR3
500GB Hard Drive
I have 3 monitors hooked up, one is a 24 inch benQ through mini display with vga and then i have the 21.5 imac and then a 23 inch acer hooked up with an external usb video card usb to dvi. I had this setup before lion was released when i was using snow leopard and it worked perfectly fine, but now with the lion update it does not work the screen just continuiously flickers on and off; i tried swapping monitors and it still doesnt work so it has to do with a possible software issue.
I have updated to the latest drivers, installed restarted and everything i can think of; does anyone have any suggestions?
This is a video I made of my issue:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h23Rtkfiuq8&feature=channel_video_title
If anyone can help i would GREATLY appreciate it!I'm pretty sure its not a monitor issue, as the issues vary between monitors
I'm pretty sure this is a display and adapter and interface problem, especially when the name(s) of your display(s) show up wrong after sleep.
The Mac uses one display driver that is highly parameterized. The parameters to be used are set by sending a query to the display for its name and capabilities. This query is sent on the secondary digital data channel, and is sometimes referred to as EDID data.
Currently both 20's are recognised as 'vga display' or 'color LCD', no resolution options are available, just what it defaults to (640 x 480)
When the name of the display is not correctly reflected in the name of its Display Preferences pane, that is a direct indication the display-adapter-cable-display part of the chain "dropped the ball" in resounding to the Mac's query for capabilities.
Adapters that do not pass the EDID data through, and displays that do not answer when queried for their name and capabilities are the primary source of problems. For example, TV sets that are not "paying attention" to the secondary data channel, and therefore do not answer the query, drive Mac users crazy.
The query is sent in response to four different events:
• System Startup
• wake form sleep
• cable insertion at the Mac-end (not necessarily at the Display-end)
• The use of the Option-Detect_Displays button in Displays Preferences window -
I have experienced Lion to automatically add and subsequently change the languages displayed in different programs.
For example I have had 3 different programs opened displaying different language for each program (languages being Arabic, Czech and Hungarian).
Now I have manage to remove the languages in question from the systempreferences>language and tekst>languages, but they should never have been automatically added without my conscent in the first place.
Question is: Why does this happen, and can I turn this feature off for good?lazerpanda wrote:
Why does Lion automatically add languages to this list of preferences without my consent, and how can I turn this feature (of automation) off for good?
A number of people have reported similar problems. It is some kind of bug in Lion which Apple has to fix. You have already found the remedy until they do that. You can tell them here:

HELP! Internet Issue iMac OSX Lion!?
Today I turn my computer on (27 inch iMac 3.0ghz intel core 2 duo) and it won't connect to the internet. When I open airport utility and network diagnostics it tells me I'm successfully connected to my router (which is an airport extreme) and that there is no problem with my internet connection. Yet when I open safari or chrome or try to upload a youtube video it 100% won't connect to the internet. I know it is not my router because I have 2 other laptops tablets and iphones that are currently connected perfectly. Just my iMac won't connect, the only thing that tells me it's not a dead airport card is that it recognizes the router and my neighbors different routers just when connected to my network I can't do anything. Any help would be great, somehow to reset that hardware or something I don't know. Thanks!!!

OSX Lion and Photoshop CS5 "scratch disc error"
I've been using Photoshop CS5 for awhile now (about a year and a half). Up to yesterday I was running OSX Snow Leapord with no issues. Yesterday I upgraded to OSX Lion and today, my first day using Photoshop in Lion, I'm getting repeated "scratch disc error" messages with a "quit" button (no other options). Photoshop works fine for awhile, three hours or so, and then I'll get the "scratch disc error" message and will be forced to quit Photoshop and restart.
My main drive is a 2Tb drive with 1.7Tb of available space, so I'm sure scratch disc space isn't a problem. I've got about another Tb of scratch disc space available on two other internal drives. I've got 14Gb of Ram, all memtested and working perfectly. It clearly seems to be an issue with OSX Lion since it never happened before today. A few other details: I'm up to date with Photoshop CS5, I have Open GL turned off because I'm on an older Mac Pro (a 3.0 Ghz dual quad core, 2.1) and my video card doesn't play nicely with Open GL (a whole different kind of crash).
All three times I've gotten the "scratch disc error" pop-up today it seems to have been when I open multiple files. This last time I opened something like 8 files. Big deal; sometimes I open 40 or more without any problems. So can anyone please help me with this issue? I have yet to lose any of my work (I save constantly - a habit born out of past frustrations), so it's managable, but it shouldn't be happening.
Thanks.I am havng this same exact problem. Recently, I reinstalled my OSX Lion fresh, and also just installed CS5.5 Design Premium. I have been experiencing this same error repeatedly.
On my computer there are two separate Scratch Discs (non-partioned) and when the error first popped up, I tried switching between Scratch Discs. One at a time, even using other drives and still received the same error. I've done everything I can find suggested to no avail. All OS updates are done, CS5.5 is updated, permissions repaired, disks repaired, graphics driver current, OpenGL disabled, etc....
If we can determine a fix, it would be greatly appreciated. Photoshop is an awesome tool that I use extensively, and this is driving me insane!
BTW, here is the error I believe he is getting (same one I see way too many times a day)
Thanks, Billy -
Ical events disappearing on OSX Lion
I actually have three issues, and these appear to be quite common issues with OSX Lion users:
1. When I receive email calendar invitations (attachments come in as .ics) I can open the .ics file, accept the event and it goes into iCal for about 5 seconds, then disappears. This only happens on invitations that are sent to me. Events I creat are stable, no issues.
2. The time zone is way off. The events are most frequently coming from an outlook server in my same timezone but the times are usually about 7 to 8 hours later in iCal than stated in the .ics attachment. If I send an acceptance, the time that goes back to the inviter is the incorrect (7 to 8 hours later) time and it causes confusion.
What's worse is once the iCal invite disappears and I go back to their email invite to re-populate iCal with the invite, it queues up another "Accept / Maybe / Decline" response. Time is still incorrect.
Any thoughts on how to fix these issues for good?

OSX Lion upgrade, then no long see 6th gen Nanos
After upgrading my pro to OSX Lion, I am no longer able to see the Nanos. I can synch iPhone, shuffle, old gen ipod but not the Nanos. At first I thought it was a broken unit...but two of them?
This software seems to pinpoint the problem. I haven't had the restart issue with Intel onboard graphics only. However, this definitely isn't a problem solved.
After much more research, I found that people with my video card have been having this issue since OSX Lion and Apple still hasn't fixed it. This is incredibly disappointing. I will be contacting Apple for a refund on Mountain Lion soon if I can't find updated drivers.
Thanks very much for your help. -
Mac OSX Lion Server Network User Login Issue
We have in the office a server running Mac OSX Lion, and several network users who've all been running happily for quite a will.
About a month ago I was added to the system, and initially we had a few issues relating to the home directory, but we changed 'something' and it all worked.
Fast forward to now, and we've added a new user - Hannah - to our system.
I've added her in the Workgroup Manager, and set her up everywhere I can find on the server. Her home directory creates on the server fine.
She appears in the Logon list on the client machines, and here's where the trouble starts...
Every time she tries to log on, it fails. The logon box just bounces or wobbles as though the password is incorrect. We've tried changing the password, to no avail. We've tried adding new test users - same problem.
We've tried sudo kinet on the Terminal as a local user, with variable results.
I'm at my wits end, and really hoping someone here can help offer some suggestions or advice we can work through to get to the bottom of this.
Thanks in advance!Your problems are likely occurring because you added her to the directory with Workgroup Manager.
You should really start avoiding WGM when at all possible as Apple is clearly moving away from it. Because of this, things don't always work as expected when using 'legacy' tools like WGM.
My guess as to what your problem is: When you create a new user in Server.app, two things happen for you automatically that WILL NOT HAPPEN if done from WGM.
First the user is added to the default "Workgroup" group.
More importantly (and the source of much confusion), the user is automatically added to SACLs.
Check the SACL for the user in Server.app, I bet you'll notice that they aren't a member of the File Sharing group like they should be. To solve this problem, you can either delete the user and recreate them in Server.app, or manually add them to the appropriate SACL.
I would opt for recreating them in Server.app if I were you, as I don't trust user accounts that originate in WGM on Lion Server. -
Quicktime Plugin Issue in Safari on Mac OSX Lion.
(Strange) Safari - Quicktime - issue on Mac OSX Lion (All Updates done - 20/11/2011)
Strange issue with Safari - Quicktime video playing - on Mac OSX Lion (All updates done till 20th Nov 2011 night)
Problem discovery: Tried to view the Apple iPhone 4S Keynote on Apple Website. Strange that Safari does not display any videos from Apple Website.
Following works OK:- You Tube worked fine.
- Google Chrome worked fine. (It shows the quick time player loading and then displays the video absolutely fine.)
Conclusion: There is some problem with Safari Quicktime Plug-in.
Strange Discovery:
- There are two users on the MAC. Logged in with a general user (Non Admin)
- When tried to view Apple Videos on Safary ... THEY WORKED FINE !!!
- The user where they donot work is an ADMIN User ... Strange !!!
System:
- Mac-Mini 2010 - 8 GB RAM - with OSX Lion fully software updated until 20th Nov 2011 night.
- DIVX is installed and is also a paid version - registered with DIVX website.
- VLC is installed.
- Perian was installed - after problem discovery - uninstalled it - no use.
Please help with a solution if anyone has faced and solved this problem. Sub question is : If DIVX / anyother plug-in causes problems with QuickTime plugin on Safari, why does it affect only one user on the system and not other users on that system ?
Notes:
1) There is a similar looking thread on MacRumors here but concluded that required to start a seperate one with clear problem statement.
2) Apple Forums
(a) One thread on topic that hints that some 3IVX plug-in can cause issues with Safari Quicktime Plugin: here
(b) Another thread from Apple Forum, that hints that DIVX causes problems to Safari Quicktime Plug in, Link is HereRefer to a thread on Apple Discussions Forum itself, Link is HERE; refer to the posting by "Charles Cole",

Re: Does anyone recommend OS X Lion?
Aug 2, 2011 8:09 PM (in response to Landrix)
Charles writes about DIVX and QuickTime Plugin conflict in Safari:
One thing I've discovered that might help anyone having a Quicktime Plug-in issue. If you have DivX as a codec on your system (usually installed to play .avi files) you'll want to uninstall it so that Sarfari 5.1 will default to the Quicktime Plug-In and not the DivX plug-in. Otherwise, you can't see Quicktime movies in Safari.
Note: this post is about and at the time of OSX Lions launch, i.e. 10.7.0.
Now we have 10.7.2, still cannot believe Apple has not fixed this bug !!! -
I'm having an issue on All ADOBE reader/flasher player opening window on Mac OSX Lion
I have tons of error when i'm openning Adobe reader/Adober flash player/Adobe application manager. When i went check out the Library/Adobe appiication support, it's missing and i can't get it to open. What are the solution to make this work. Cause i really wanna to download Adobe photoshop trial install and open it, but i keep on getting error all the time. What can i do to resolve this issue on my mac osx Lion 10.7.5 version? Any suggestion?
Could you try switching back to the PPAPI version of the plugin to see if that helps (reversing the steps outlined in the FAQ below)? From what we've learned, this only effects the NPAPI version and the PPAPI version should display fonts correctly.
Enable system Flash Player in Google Chrome | Windows | Mac
We are working with Google to get this fixed asap.
Thanks,
Chris -
I just re-installed OSX Lion. Everytime I try to open Safari now it crashes. Any ideas on how to fix this issue?
Hi Shootist!
Every once in a while, I find that my MacBook slows down to a crawl. I use Disc Utilities and that may fix. If it does not, I got a suggestion to re-install the system which I have been doing for years.
I did this, this time and now Safari no longer works. It crashes every time I try to open it. I have restarted the Mac several times. Run Disc Utilities to no avail.

OSX Lion 10.7.4 issue with Windows shares when renaming folders
Hi,
Can anyone tell me if its an known issue when a user logs into a smb share with his AD credentials and when trying to rename a folder which he has permissions to, hes unable to do so and osx prompts for login details. When user enters the correct login it prompts them again and therefore he's unable to rename the folder.
There are also other folders under the main folder and some of those he's able to rename with no problem so this problem only occurs sometimes.
AD is on Windows Server 2008 R2 with all updates installed and OSX Lion users also have the latest updates.
Any help regarding the issue is welcome, thank you!I think there's nothing to do with the drive manufacturer,
I used the macDrive for windows, and format it to HFS(not HFS+)
Ok,
Actually I have this folder/files,
InstallMacOSX.pkg (folder)
Inside InstallMacOSX.pkg(folder) it has files:
InstallESD.dmg(using ULTRAISO was burned to dvd)
This files are NOT included in the burn dvd image:
Bom
PackageInfo
Payload
Scripts
This files/folder is outside InstallMacOSX.pkg(folder):
Distribution(file)
[TOC].xml(file)
Resources(folder)
The original .DMG file was MOsXLeoneDieciSetteDue.dmg(but this is fake, it's a Xar compressed)
The valid .DMG file is inside the .XAR, so I extracted it, and found those files and folders.
So, I'll include that in the burned dvd?
thanks -
Ive bought osx lion to my mac but now when i try to download it, its not available in my country (Sweden)??

OSx Lion Text/Font Issue in Web Browsers
After upgrading to osx Lion, web browsers display A symbols in the search bar and not regular text. How do I fix this? I can't read drop down menues or search bars and it's pretty frustrating. Thanks
Could be as a result of a third party font manager.

Has there been a resolution to the wake up issue created by upgrading to OSX Lion?
Since upgrading to OSX Lion my iMac will not wakeup. Has there been any resolution to this problem?
This is a problem with your computer and system, not with Lion. I suggest you do the following:
Install or Reinstall Lion from Scratch
If possible backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive.
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Erase the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.
Because the Lion volume will be erased I recommend you first backup your files so they can be restored after reinstalling Lion.

I hate that the speakers face back. On my iPad 2 I bought a cheap disc like enhancer to send the sound forwards, but you can't get one for the iPad Air in the UK. I've made one using a soft plastic iPhone 4 case. I cut it to size and manage with that
