Wi-Fi issue,- iPhone 4s, please read.

Hi
I'm having problems with my iphone 4s. It runs IOS 5.1.1 , and the problem is related to wi-fi.
Here's the thing... sometimes it works fine for a period of time, then it drops the connection, and that's it, I'm done, because no matter what I do. Nothing will make it find the wifi signal again! although yesterday I was able to use wi-fi for a couple of hours, and it didn't drop the signal! (the wifi of my laptop)- I'll mention it later.
But there's a problem, because MOST of the time it doesn't even find my wifi, I have a wifi router or whatever it is, but it's not helping that much, I made my brother reset it so many times, but no hope.
And the thing that drives me crazy is that my sister's iphone (3gs - IOS 4.2) works perfectly with my laptop's wifi.
I set a "wireless ad hoc (computer-to-computer) network " - WEP in my laptop and my sister has been using it ever since for about a year now and no problems,
but my iphone 4s I thought it was supposed to be better, but is garbage. Won't find ANY wifi (not even my cousin's :$ - which the 3gs seems to find it without a hitch)
I have been surfing over the internet and reading for hours about how to fix it, tried a couple of things but none of them helps.
Here's the deal: I took some screen-shots just for demonstration.
when it doesn't find wifi signal (which happens very often, almost always) looks like this:
http://i1064.photobucket.com/albums/u368/Kreshnik-joker/IMG_1512.png
and the circle that Is supposed to spin for some time then stop and spin again, just doesn't work.
It just KEEPS SPINNING like that for as long as I leave it, WITHOUT STOPPING!
and no wifi signal will ever appear, in addition... sometimes it shuts down completely if I let it like that for a while!
Rebooting won't help,the same...
Also, reseting network settings won't help, did it many times, same old same old.
http://i1064.photobucket.com/albums/u368/Kreshnik-joker/IMG_1513.png
not even reseting all settings, won't help
http://i1064.photobucket.com/albums/u368/Kreshnik-joker/IMG_1514.png
I'm not sure why this is happening. SOMETIMES it works, but most of the time it doesn't...
Not really sure if upgrading would help, even though it's the last thing I want to do since I have it unlocked with gevey.
Any ideas what's the problem? , how do I fix this?  Edge works fine- very slow though , and 3G I don't know, in my country we don't have any.
I also want to know if this is a hardware problem, or software, If I'm left with nothing else, I'd upgrade the IOS...
For the price we're paying for these phones, this is totally disappointing!
Thank you!
P.S. Turning on the Bluetooth and Wifi at the same time won't help either!

Yes, Jailbroken!
If I'd knew for sure that wifi will be fixed after I remove jailbrake, I'd do it. But I'm afraid something else is going on here...
That's why I wanted to know if someone else had the same problem, and how could it be fixed.
If removing jailbreak it's the key, I'll try that one as well.
what do you think?
Thanks in advance.

  • IPhone developers, please read...

If your question is specific to the iPhone, please clearly indicate that in the subject of your posting. The iPhone SDK is apparently quite different that the Mac API. A couple of times I have answered some questions incorrectly because I didn't know someone was working with the iPhone SDK. I have also seen the reverse, where someone answered a Mac question with an iPhone response that might not be appropriate.
Most of the time, I can tell right away that a question is about the iPhone and I can ignore it. I have nothing against the iPhone and I may play with it in the future. But for now, I'm clueless about it and I don't want to provide useless and incorrect answers.
    Thanks

    Additionally,
To post your code unaltered by the formatting you need to bracket your code like this:
    { code }
    your code here;
    { code }
without the spaces near the brackets to get the desired effect.
    foo = [self bar:foo];
Having your code correctly represented will help you immensely when asking people for help with debugging.
Also the correct place to report bugs and or make feature requests is: https://bugreport.apple.com
That is the only official feedback site that is guaranteed to get the issues in front of the people who actually work on the things you're reporting about. Even if you get a "Duplicate Report" message for every bug you file volume of reports about an issue can help move it to the top of the queue.
Apple does pay attention and track issues reported here - especially for beta releases - so good, clear, concise bug reports entered here helps everyone. However, if you are new to Cocoa please make sure that the problem actually lies with the thing you're reporting and not with your understanding of the thing you're reporting. Keeping the signal to noise ratio good will again help everyone involved.
    Thanks for your attention,

I can understand your point of view and I respect it in regards to Small Basic being a learning language. None the less, let me make a suggestion that would be more ageeable, I think,  to different kinds of people. Why not make different versions
of this new language: version 1 for beginners that I heard would be out by the end of this year,
version 2 for intermediates and version 3 for more advanced programmers. All this would culminate to the Visual Basic language. These 3 versions would smoothe out the gap between SB and Visual Basic. Your new programmers would
evolve at the same time your versions would come out and Microsoft would have a long term policy of loyal programmers.

  • Cannot make or recieve calls, iphone 4, please read! :)

I have an iphone 4 which is currently using ios 6 point something, and i cannot make or receive calls. it does not work anywhere with any type of connection, mic and speakers work fine with everything else. phone is a few years old, can't rememeber exactly. when i try to call someone, it will come up on the screen as usual, but no audio at all (dial tone, ringing, person's voice). other person cannot hear me either, and same goes for when somebody else tries to call me. this has been going on for months and i really need some idea of why it is happening other than just 'try turning it off and on again'. just saying. thanks i also can't hold a wi-fi signal or send images over text or imessage, but the calling is the most important.

When you have the passcode lock enabled, if you connect your iPhone to iTunes on a different computer - different from the computer you normally sync your iPhone with, I believe entering the passcode is required.
Is this a different computer than you normally sync your iPhone with?
If not and placing your iPhone into recovery mode which requires restoring your iPhone with iTunes which was successful, did you restore your iPhone from your iPhone's backup, or as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup? I have the passcode lock feature enabled and when I've restored my iPhone from my iPhone's backup, my passcode was not restored - I had to re-enable my passcode.
If you restored from your iPhone's backup with no change, try restoring your iPhone as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup. If there is a problem with your iPhone's backup, restoring from the backup will also restore the problem.
If no change after restoring as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup, you can call AppleCare or make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one nearby.

  • So I converted NTSC to PAL using nattress, but DVD issue now. Please read

So with Shanes help last night I managed to make the .mov PAL formatted. Now I went into DVD Studio Pro made my menus made sure it was PAL ready and started the burn process.
Yet it failed and the reason that DVD said is " Final PAL (Video):Invalid Video Asset"
Can anyone help me burn a proper PAL DVD?
    Thanks

You might post at the DVDSP forum, too, but please return here if you get a helpful answer and close the thread.
I've never tried to do PAL, sorry, but I do know that DVDSP must be set up to work in PAL before you can use PAL assets. That, of course, is all in the manual.
    Hope you get better advice.

sir have this error so what can i do The SIM card that you currently have installed in this iPhone is from a carrier that is not supported under the activation policy that is currently assigned by the activation server. This is not a hardware issue with the iPhone. Please insert another SIM card from a supported carrier or request that this iPhone be unlocked by your carrier. Please contact Apple for more information.

It looks like the iPhone is locked to a carrier that is not the one you are trying to use.
You need to determine which carrier it is locked to and then contact them to see if they are willing to authorise the unlocking of your iPhone.  As ManSinha mentioned, many carriers will only authorised the unlock if requested by the customer who had the contract with them for this iPhone.
Remember that only the carrier who owns the lock on your Iphone can authorise Apple to unlock the iPhone in their servers.  You need to contact the carrier or have the previous owner of the iPhone request the unlocking.

  • Please Read if Concerned about Bending iPhones

In the past few days, there has been a lot of debate, questioning the structural integrity of the iPhone 6/6 Plus; is the iPhone 6/6 Plus prone to bending? Since the number of threads, regarding this issue, has increased, I'd like to alleviate some concerns by providing you with enough information to draw your own conclusions and make a well informed decision. You don't have to agree with my findings, but please be respectful in your comments.
    Short Answer:
The short answer is No; there is no cause for concern about your iPhone 6 or 6 Plus bending in your pocket, unless normal use for you is exerting over 90 lbs of external force, which is highly unlikely for most. This test was conducted by Consumer Reports in a controlled environment in which the force applied was accurately measured. If you're concerned you might expose your pocket to 90 lbs of stress or more, you shouldn't be. Only 9 people out of 10 million iPhone 6 Plus users have reported a bent phone; which means that .00009% of iPhone 6 Plus users have actually subjected their devices to 90 lbs of force, or more.
If your skeptical, or would like to know how I arrived to this conclusion, then please read further. I’ve provided a detailed explanation with supported links to articles and videos for your convenience.
    Detailed Explanation:
Most media outlets were quick to judge the iPhone 6 Plus, basing their reports from this youtube video below that went viral, along with massive retweets of bent iPhone 6 Pluses, circulating on the web.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znK652H6yQM
If you watch the video, you'll notice the phone doesn't bend on a dime; he's applying an aggressive amount of force when bending his iPhone 6 Plus. Because that force wasn't measured, you cannot conclude whether it accurately depicts normal or extreme conditions for which your phone may be subjected to.
The same person posted a follow-up video in which he force bends other phones for comparison. Again, since the force being applied to each phone was not scientifically measured, there's no way to verify if more or less force was used to bend each phone being compared. For example, if he was fatigued from bending the first phone, then it's possible less force was applied to the subsequent phones in succession. You can watch his video below.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IROcoJeVfSI
As a result of this growing buzz, Apple's stock price took a hit to which they finally responded, stating there's no cause for concern with normal use. It's an extremely rare case, as only 9 people out of 10 million have reported a bent iPhone. You can read about it in the Wall Street Journal, below.
    http://online.wsj.com/articles/apple-defends-against-complaints-of-bending-iphon es-1411668618
After reading Apple's response, the first thought that came to mind was "damage control", and I was somewhat skeptical of that low number (only 9 people reported a bent phone). It prompted me to do a little more research. The guy in the unbox therapy video, along with most other media outlets, kept boasting about an "increasing number of reports" of users with bent iPhones. I was guilty of saying bend-gate was a legitimate concern due to an increasing number of reports. But I hadn't actually verified that number; I was echoing what I had heard from other media outlets. In my research (or online search), I could not actually find a significant number of complaints of bending, from actual iPhone 6 Plus owners. Because I was unable to verify these “increasing number of reports,” suddenly Apple numbers didn't seem that far fetched.
In contrast to videos posted by Unbox Therapy, Consumer Reports performed their own tests in a controlled environment in which they actually measured how many pounds of pressure it took to deform phones from a variety of different manufactures, including Samsung and Apple. Does this test reveal that some of the competition is less prone to bending than the iPhone 6/6 Plus? Absolutely, but keep in mind the iPhone 6 Plus is thinner, but more importantly, its structural integrity shouldn't be a concern, if your normal use doesn't exceed the breaking point of 90 pounds of exertion.
    http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/news/2014/09/consumer-reports-tests-iphone-6- bendgate/index.htm
Factoring Apple's response, stating a total of 9 people out of 10 million reported bent iPhones, along with the tests performed by Consumer Reports, I was able to come to this conclusion. If Apple’s numbers are remotely accurate, it means only .00009% of iPhone 6 Plus users have actually bent their phones, which also means it's probable those bent phones were subjected to external forces of 90 lbs or greater. Even if the margin of error was give or take 1,000 phones, the probability of someone bending their phone would still be extremely low.

Apple stock price is subject to all kinds of manipulation with real news or generated (false) news.
I don't disagree, but my point is while a declining stock price may be inevitable as a direct result of this news, perhaps faster damage control by Apple's PR could've softened the blow, and maybe not get hit as hard.

  • WiFi Issues - iPhone? IOS? Sky? EE? PLEASE HELP!

I am suddenly having major problems connecting to Wi-Fi.  I am reading a lot about iPhone 6’s having issues but I have an iPhone 4S and recently upgraded to the latest IOS software 8.1
Whilst I cannot confirm or identify that the software update has caused this, it seems very coincidental that since then I am experiencing issues.
I have Sky broadband at home that appears to be working ok as I can access internet on my laptop which is fine.  However when I go to connect it asks me for my password and to join network.
The 2 issues I get are either:  1) it does not connect and just asks for my password repeatedly without connecting or 2) it appears to connect and the WiFi symbol shows on my phone but nothing actually works or loads.  I am also bemused as to why I am not getting 3G all of a sudden when WiFi is not connected, it is just always GPRS.
I have followed many online tips about resetting network settings and re-booting router etc. but nothing is working and I am now at a loss as to why this is.  I cannot work out if it is an iPhone issue, an IOS software issue, the Sky broadband at home or my EE connectivity.  I am sure it must be IOS issue but just don’t know.
If anyone can help it would be much appreciated as it has been a few days of frustration now and don’t know what to do!
    Thanks in advance.

Hi, I was using iPhone 4S, and already upgraded from 7.1.2 to iOS 8 couple hours ago.
It just works fine to me.
However it doesn't fix wifi grey out issue.
    Good luck.

    Hi,
I have lost all data on my iphone by mistake. I needed to restore the phone and I didnt realize my back-up was 1yr old, and now the phone is restored and I've got a year old contact list and iMessage chat history. Luckily my iMessage on the Mac is still valid and has all the chat history. My question is how can I restore iMessage chats on my iPhone 4 from my Mac? I have all the chat history on my Mac, but there seems to be no sync function from Mac to iphone. Please advice.

If things seem to be going haywire with your phone, it seems that it MAY be a software issue.
Now, that being said, that does not necessarily mean that it is a virus. Software issues do happen sometimes. It is probably just coincidence.
What you need to do is restore the device using iTunes. This will fix any software issues. After you have done this, you can restore from an iCloud backup.
iCloud does not back up the actual software, so no, the "virus" would not have gotten into the backups.
The link below provides steps on restoring your device using iTunes as well as how to restore from an iCloud backup.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766
Don't worry! Everything should be back to normal if you follow these steps.

    I got the same message.
I bought an iPhone 5 at full retail price from an AT&T store. I requested the phone to be unlocked through their unlock portal. The AT&T unlock system asked for the IMEI number, a copy of my receipt showing that I bougth the phone at "No Commitment" price. A few hours later I received a message from AT&T stating that the unlock request was approved. I then followed the instructions to back up the phone and restore it through Itunes. The phone activates normally with the AT&T SIM card. But when I insert my VODAFONE SIM I get the massage "THE SIM CARD... etc.
I tried again to back up & restore the phone 3 or 4 times, no success. I have also allowed 24 hours for the unlock process to complete. Still no luck.
I have checked again on the AT&T Unlock Status portal and it shows "Unlock approved".
Where is the issue here? Do I have to call Apple or return the phone to AT&T and get the unlocked phone through the Apple Store?
Thanks for any help on this.
