Wi-Fi loosing connection every few seconds on my macbook pro and its not my router's fault (running yoseomite)

Basically I bought my new Macbook Pro retina display in September 2014. My wifi was working perfectly well for about a month or two until Yosemite was brought out. I'm not sure if it was immediately after I downloaded Yosemite or not, but not long afterwards I noticed I was having trouble with my wifi (and not just mine but my schools as well). Every time my computer tries to join the wifi network it will work for a while (5 seconds) and it will say that I have a wifi connection but then it will just stop working and it will say I'm not connected to wifi. A few seconds later and it will then reconnect and say I have wifi. I am fairly certain this is not my wireless router ( a BT home hub) as I have other devices such as my iPhone and a computer which does not suffer these problems. After a while of it loosing connection and then gaining connection it will finally stop and the wifi icon at the top will suggest I have a wifi connection but when I hover over it, I see it says "Wi-Fi:looking for networks..." and then 2 seconds later it will say "Wi-Fi: On" and it will repeat like this for however long I am on the network. When the icon appears to suggest I have a connection I am able to load a webpage but it is slow and watching Netflix can be tiresome. I've scoured these forums for information that will solve my issue however all I have found is outdated information from 2010 or 2012 or too technical information that I can't understand. Does anyone else have this problem, has anyone else found a solution, it would be much appreciated if any one could help me solve t.

Please test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved. Back up all data before making any changes.
Step 1
Take the applicable steps in this support article. The Wireless Diagnostics program generates a large file of information about your system, which would be used by Apple Engineering in case of a support incident. Don't post the contents here.
Be sure to test on more than one Wi-Fi network, if at all possible. A desktop computer can be tested with a mobile hotspot, such as the hotspot created by a cell phone. If the problem only exists on one network, then the access point of that network should be the focus of your attention, not the computer.
Step 2
Disconnect all USB 3 devices. If you don't know which are USB 3, disconnect all USB devices except keyboard and mouse.
Step 3
If you're not using a wireless keyboard or trackpad, disable Bluetooth by selecting Turn Bluetooth Off from the menu with the Bluetooth icon. If you don't have that menu, open the Bluetooth preference pane in System Preferences and check the box marked Show Bluetooth in menu bar. Test. If you find that Wi-Fi works better with Bluetooth disabled, you should use the 5 GHz Wi-Fi band. Your router may not support it; in that case, you need a new router.
Step 4
Open the Energy Saver pane in System Preferences and unlock the settings, if necessary. Select the Power Adapter  tab, if there is one. Uncheck the box marked
          Wake for Wi-Fi network access
if it's checked.
Step 5
Open the Network pane in System Preferences and make a note of your settings in the Wi-Fi service. It may be helpful to take screenshots of the various tabs in the preference pane. If the preference pane is locked, unlock it by clicking the padlock icon and entering your administrator password. Delete Wi-Fi from the service list on the left by selecting it and clicking the minus-sign button at the bottom. Then recreate the service by clicking the plus-sign button and following the prompts.
Step 6
In the Wi-Fi settings, select
          Advanced... ▹ TCP/IP ▹ Configure IPv6: Link-local
Click OK and then Apply.
Step 7
Reset the System Management Controller.
Step 8
Reset the PRAM.
Step 9
Launch the Keychain Access application. Search for and delete all AirPort network password items that refer to the network. Make a note of the password first. Turn Wi-Fi off and then back on. You'll be prompted for the password when you reconnect. Save it in the keychain.
Step 10
Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service center.

My isight built in camera is only turning on for few second on my MacBook Pro (13-inch, Late 2011 with osx Yosemite) when I use any camera needed app. Please help me. Its getting a little annoying.

If restarting Mac or reinstalling OS X does not correct this symptom, you likely have a hardware problem.  Contact Apple Support or an Apple Authorized Service Provider for service.

  • HT5219 Can I connect my thunderbolt monitor to my MacBook Pro and iMac at the same time

I am wanting to connect my thunderbolt monitor to my MacBook Pro as a secondary monitor when running programs in windows 7 thru boot camp, and also have it connected to my iMac as a secondary monitor when working thru apps on my iMac. Is there a way to do this without having to connect and disconnect cables each time I want to switch.

I don't think it can be done without a KVM switch, & not sure they can handle that resolution.

  • Home Sharing between Macbook Pro and AppleTV not connecting, what's wrong?

So I have one of the late 2011 Macbook Pro models and the newest AppleTV that I do a lot of Home Sharing for movies and stuff like that. This problem keeps popping up though where they can't communicate with each other and the videos either stop loading half way through, or my AppleTV can't even connect with my macbook to start watching at all. I've gone through most of the possible solutions I've seen posted before and even the troubleshooting by apple about it. I've made sure they are both on the same apple ID, the same wi-fi network, restarted my router, even re-setup my router from scratch, closed itunes on my macbook, turned my wifi on and off a couple of times (worked for a few then stopped again), made sure that everything is on the most current software, but nothing seems to be doing the trick. This has been going on for months now and I'm pretty much sick of it happening. Somebody please help me fix this so I can get on with my movies!!

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.
If this doesn't help, contact your ISP, this is most likely a network problem.

  • When I connect my Nikon 200 to my Macbook Pro it is not recognized.

How do I transfer the images directly from the camera to my MacBook? What am I missing? I have a MacBook Pro 13-inch that I bought in June 2012.

Open iPhoto. In the menu bar, go to iPhoto / Preferences / General.
    Make this selection:
This way when you connect your camera, iPhoto will open. When iPhoto opens it will show the images on the camera. You can select what you want to add to your iPhoto Library. In other words, transfer them to your computer.

  • IChat - jabberd/router - new connection every few seconds

Hi, since upgrading to 10.6 I have seen repeated entries in my syslog as...
    Sep 7 09:08:49 mailgate jabberd/router[8943]: [127.0.0.1, port=57989] connect
    Sep 7 09:08:49 mailgate jabberd/router[8943]: [127.0.0.1, port=57989] disconnect
    Sep 7 09:08:51 mailgate jabberd/router[8943]: [127.0.0.1, port=57990] connect
    Sep 7 09:08:51 mailgate jabberd/router[8943]: [127.0.0.1, port=57990] disconnect
there are literally thousands of these entries, any idea what it could be? Apologies for the vagueness but I have no idea where to start looking

I'm having similar problems after migration to SLS (didn't use ichat before, but now i would like to)
Problems started by using a separate data and an OS disk?
I named my datadisk "My Data", but got into trouble with mysql, so i renamed my datadisk "MyData".
However, i can't get iChat starting up, i first had to change the ichatserver.plist (it still had all "My Data" entries, which i corrected. However i'm still stuck with starting up. Buttons are enabled, but after some time iChat still is stopped, and the start button is visible and enabled.
Any hints wich files to edit (or to trash and let rebuild?)

  • IPod Touch 3G loses wifi every few seconds

I just purchased a new Touch 3G last night, and every few seconds it loses the wifi connection and reconnects. It does this over and over again consistently. When i go into wifi settings, i can actually see the settings for my wireless disappear, then reappear with a check mark beside it, every few seconds.
I've tried changing broadcast channel in router, from mixed to non-mixed G, resetting the router and iTouch, and release/renew. My laptop and desktop are connecting fine with the wireless, so i assume the issue is with the iTouch.
    3.1.1 OS

Just recently purchased and mine does the same exact thing. Mine seems to show a strong 3 bar connection while in the WiFi settings menu. When I back out to Home, the signal indicator suddenly drops to one bar and will flucuate to 2 or 1 bar. I have done all the tricks mentioned here with my router as well. But in my home I use assigned static IP's. Every setting is correct on the iPod Touch's menu. Im lost as to why it does that.

  • Speakers play every few seconds

I keep hearing an add repeat every few seconds. "dove hand soap" and something about a band interview... I tried restarting the computer and it just keeps going off. I ran a virus scan and it came back with nothing. Anything I can do?

    It's functioning as intended.
OS X is assuming that you clicked the Wi-Fi icon for a reason: to be given the option to connect to a different wireless network should you so choose.

  • Firefox Hanging Every Few Seconds

I just installed brand new Firefox 25.0.1 on a Mac Mini (running Mountain Lion 10.8.2) just two weeks ago, and since day one I've been having the same problem that lots of other people are having, and that's the constant half-second delays that happen about every 4 to 5 seconds. Even typing this post, the delays are there. Pulling down menus and selecting items, trying to move the scroll bar, or playing youtube videos, Firefox keeps hanging briefly every few seconds. It's maddening.
I never had any problem with Apple's Safari browser (the only reason I switched to Firefox was because Safari Ad Block stopped working and I needed Download Helper). That this problem exists on PC and Mac means it's nothing specific to the computer, but to Firefox.
What I wish would not be given the same generic advice that never seems to work, like reinstall Firefox (it was already installed cleanly, what would a reinstall do?), but have somebody at Mozilla actually explain what is causing the problem, or if they plan to ever fix it.
So far I only have a temporary fix, which is to completely quit out of Firefox and re-run it. That solves the problem for a little while, but within an hour or two, or three, it's back to the same problem. There are plenty of other threads that mention this or similar problems (see below), but all seem to be on PC's not Macs, and none seem to give a 100% universal fix for everybody.
How to stop Firefox from hanging and lagging?
firefox freezes every few seconds even with latest update and pluging
my Firefox freezes every a few seconds , so will you fix it ?

You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files in the Firefox profile folder that store session data.
Delete the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox profile folder.
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Multiple_profile_files_created
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost and you will have to recreate them (make a note or bookmark them if possible).
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
