Wi-Fi problems with Router Linksys Wrt54gs

Hello guys. Could anyone help me with this problem ? I´m using wireless connection with the Router Linksys Wrt54gs and I´m losing my connection constantly. Sometimes, I restart the router and the connection returns again. Sometimes not. Other times, I have a perfect connection and sudenlly, it gets lost. Seems my router is restarting automatically. What should I do ?

I suggest you contact Linksys technical support and in the bottom right corner opt to have a live chat with an agent.

    Hey Guys!
I just got my AirPort Extreme Base, but I can't use my HP Deskjet F4580 wireless printer with it.
The printer is not connected to the AirPort Extreme's USB port. It is placed in another room, and I'd like to use it (the printer) wirelessly (not connected to the USB port os the AirPort Extreme), as I used to. There is no place for the printer close the AirPort Extreme. It worked just fine with my previous wireless router (Linksys WRT54G). I'm very disappointed with the AirPort Extreme Base Station because of that!...
    Can you help me? Please?!
    Thanks Folks!

This must be a tough one, no suggestions at all.

  • I have Connection Problems with the Linksys WRT400N Router!

I bought the Linksys WRT400N Dual Band Router in January 2010, and had nothing but problems with it keeping renewing the IP Address for the internet. I have Road Runner High Speed Cable Internet, and they can’t help me with this support, I tried to call Linksys about 5 times and they are no real help, all I get is pay by credit card after talking to someone for a few minutes.
The problem is I can’t connect to the internet but can only connect to my Network Printer or Home Network. It won’t renew the IP Address for the internet until I reboot the router. I had this problem Connecting it Wired and Wirelessly I have a Linksys WUSB600N version 2 Wireless Adapter.

Check if you have this configuration. Don't miss the MAC Address Cloning.

  • Two problems with router

ok so I have a three story house and the modem is downstairs on the second floor then right there I have a Linksys WRT300N router and then that has four ports in the back for hardwire cables and I had comcamst (my isp) come and run a cable up to the third floor for my gaming pc because the wireless wasnt very good because I have thick walls. This worked great and then I got my ps3. I tried using wireless and it was slow so i now switch the cable between the two depending on what im using. I want to hardwire both of them so how would i do this? The problem I am having may have to do with the router but not sure. I have COD4 for PC and I always had problems with punkbuster and the servers kicking me. Now I have MW2 for the PS3 and I go to log on to online play but it just says "connecting to matchmaking server..." The servers are back online from what I hear, they came on this morning and plus this is not the same message people were getting for people who couldnt connect because of the server being taken down. If someone could help me hardwire both my PC and PS3 with my set up and help me with online issues I would be very happy thanks!

The cable you are using from the router to upstairs...Instead of that cable,Connect a switch to the router and connect your both the PS3 to the switch...it will work fine.

  • Problems with my LinkSys wireless routers since getting AT&T u-verse

I recently installed AT&T u-verse. Every since it's hit or miss on whether I can connect to my two linksys wireless routers. Sometimes it connects fine but other times I can try for hours and never obtain an IP address. I never have a problem connecting to the 2wire wireless router which was installed when u-verse was installed but it doesn't have coverage for my whole house.
The AT@T tech says the 2Wire has problems with routers being configured behind their router??? He said that I need to set my Linksys wireless routers up as access points???
Anyone have any suggestions on what to try? Anyone else have issues like this after u-verse was installed?
    Thanks

I've had AT&T U-verse since March, and I wish it wasn't the best option in my area. I have been through 3 of those 2-Wire Gateways and as best I can track down it's that DHCP Server. I have a BEFSR41v3 (and yes, I am NOT using the WAN port, just the switch at IP 192.168.1.10) and a WAP54G (IP 192.168.1.11) using WPA2-PSK and have been using for years now. AT&T tried telling me it was my wireless devices, which strangely enough worked PERFECTLY fine on my Linksys hardware with the same SSID/Key when I was with TWC. My wireless devices would work fine for a while, then gradually start having problems until by 2 weeks they are completely unable to negotiate an IP from the DHCP. Called AT&T, they reset the gateway, and everything works for 2 more weeks. Most my computers (wired or WiFi) are manually IP configured. Only my laptop (also used on a college WiFi) and visitors use the DHCP server (and the AT&T Boxes).  THUS far I've been reasonably successful by limiting the AT&T Gateway to 3 addresses for my Boxes, letting it issue them to the TV's, then adding my linksys router (ignoring the WAN port and using DHCP on with an allocation of 15 addresses) and setting the Linksys WAP to the #4 port. This weird setup now gets short lasting fits in the form of "Limited Connectivity" for my WiFi devices using Dyamic IP.  It can still access the LAN perfect, only that device has no Internet Access, and Windows says i'm being blocked by a Firewall. It self resolves in a few minutes without me doing anything and it MIGHT come once or so a month, or until they run another update which seems to ALWAYS reset that gateway (I've given up changing the password and now keep a txt on every system since it seems to reset at least monthly). A few days ago it's started giving me IP conflicts that disappeared within 1-2 minutes, which is odd since it is my manual IP's getting the conflicts... It did that for 2 days then hasn't since.
    Currently I'm wired as...
    AT&T Gateway 192.1681.254 w/ 3 DHCP range 1.160-163, WiFi disabled, and 3 LAN ports to 2 TV's and my BEFSR41
BEFSR41 192.168.1.10 w/ 15 DHCP range 1.60-74, WAN port unused, 4 LAN ports to 1 Desktop, 2 unmanaged Netgear 1000 switches, and 1 to the WAP
    WAP54G 192.168.1.11 with it's gateway set to 192.168.1.10
1 Netgear switch provides wired access for the entertainment center (PS3, DVD player, DVR, etc) and open ports for visitors
Other Netgear switch is upstairs and runs to 2 additional desktops and one more cable box...
All my wired NICs are set to a 1.2x address and all configured WiFi devices (Wii and a pair of Android phones) i have on a 1.3x.
Manual IP with a 255.255.255.0 mask and gateway 192.168.1.254, manually entering the DNS from the gateway's Broadband Details page
As far as I've been able to test and observe, that gateway is tempermental (and intermittent so tech support can't EVER find a problem conveniently) with anything using the DHCP other than the cable boxes. My manual set devices have had no problems other than that strange IP conflict that popped up on 3 computers, bugged me 2 days, then just never came back (also ironically the monday i was going to call a tech support about it)
I've attempted to disable the DHCP entirely from the gateway and only use my Linksys DHCP. That seemed to work for a few hours untill, i'm guessing, the leases expired. Then all 3 TV's stopped. Everything getting it's IP manually or from the Linksys continued just fine, internet and all. The cable boxes only returned when i re-activated the 2-Wire's DHCP Server.
I would like to try using the Linksys router to isolate my LAN (and everything else i can) from that 2-Wire with a cascade, just link across on a single static IP to dodge that DHCP, but i havn't been able to get the cablebox upstairs to work off the Linksys DHCP. Even then, I'm not sure how i can get a network split to work. If i only isolated the DHCP over my WiFi, they would still at least loose file-sharing with the my File/Media/Backup PC downstairs. Move that to the other side, then the PC's upstairs loose access. As is it's MOSTLY stable though, i just have to pull apart the gateway and cut down it's DHCP range so my devices will actually get an IP from my linksys. If i don't take away the 2-wires, i still get a high IP fail rate. It would be great if i'm overlooking some way to force all DHCP IP requests -OTHER- than the cable boxes to get their IP from the Linksys and not the 2-Wire
Far as jdaley, I havn't tried to set a cascade since I'm having problems figuring out a means to isolate the boxes (and 2-wire) away from the LAN since one box is upstairs sharing a single cable with the computers there. Someone else seemed to report a success that way. If not that, then only other thing I can think of might be to just manually set all your WiFi IP addresses by hand
Thanks for any other ideas on dodging this 2-Wire's DHCP I'd really appreciate it. I'm really hoping i'm just overlooking something SIMPLE.

  • Problems with router pc and mac

I have installed a wifi router in a pc, coaxial cable plus ethernet. Recently I bought a McBook and I have some problems with internet conexions. I can run explorer in pc or in mac but I can use the explorer with the two machines at the same time. I can work with the mac restarting the router and doing the airport configuration, then internet don´t work in the pc; if I want work with the pc I do the same operation: restart the router and detect configuration with pc.
Anybody know what is the problem and posible solutions?

  • Problem With router related to mIRC?

    Hi Everyone,
I am having problem with my router (model = WRT54G2 and version = 1) related to mirc, the problem is that whenever i recieve or try to send someone a code something like this I'm a QUEER?DCC SEND "gay???g?" 0 0 0 i get dc. First i thought that it's some problem with mIRc so i went into their help community and asked them but one of their guys said that it's not mIRC's problem it's some problem with my router and he gaved me two solutions:
There are really only 2 real solutions:
    1. get another router or update your router's fimware
    2. (if the network supports it) connect with SSL to the IRC server. This encrypts text between the server and mIRC and your router will be unable to read the contents of the packets coming from the IRC server
i tried the 2nd one and it worked i dont get dc anymore but the problem is that only 5-6 servers on mirc support ssl so it cant be possible and as far as the first option is concerned i tried to upgrade my firm but it didn't helped me the problem is still there so if you guys can find me a way i will be really thankful to ya cos i dont wanna buy a new router now....Thanks.
NOTE: in case you dont believe me that i had help from mirc support forum you can check out this link: http://trout.snt.utwente.nl/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=212660&page=1#Post212660
NOTE#2: i have tried connecting to mirc without my router with direct net and that code doesn't works when i stay connected with direct net.

  • How do I configure my Airport to work well with a Linksys WRT54G?

I have DSL Extreme coming into my house in bridge mode. (Don't know the specifics, but they said that's how it has to work.) I had my Airport Extreme connected to the modem, sending out a nice wireless signal.
I was given a Linksys WRT54G Ver. 6 wireless router, and I thought I'd use it as the main router connected the modem. I also want to use it as a wireless access point for one half the house for b/g devices AND I also want to set up the Airport Extreme as another wired access point for the other half of the house for n devices.
So, I set up the Linksys as the main router sending out a wireless signal on channel 1 for b/g devices. I connected the WAN port of the Airport to one of the open LAN ports on the Linksys, changed the Airport to Bridge mode, and set up a new wirelss network to broadcast on a different channel. Unfortunately, this isn't working. Only the Linksys wireless is working properly, i.e. connected to the internet. The Airport broadcasts the wireless signal, but it isn't connecting to the internet.
I've tried changing the IP address of the Airport to one that falls within the range of the Linksys (192.168.1.x) and making sure that the subnet of the Airport is identical to the Linksys. I've also added the DNS servers, although I'm not sure why the Airport Admin Utility asked for this. Regardless, nothing works. I'll get a green light, but there's no connectivity to the internet.
I've also tried connecting to a LAN port and not the WAN port on the Airport. No joy there.
I've read through numerous threads, and they all seem to indicate that my original set up should work. I've upgraded my Linksys firmware, to no avail. I don't want the Airport to be a repeater as there is a reduction in speed. I want to have two separate wireless access points.
Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Ok, I got you. Prior to the introduction of the simultaneous dual-band routers, the only way to mimic them was exactly what you are trying to do. Connect two routers by Ethernet and create separate wireless networks to allow clients to connect to either as appropriate.
You are also correct that the upstream router (Linksys) should have both NAT & DHCP enabled and that the downstream router (AirPort) be configured as a bridge. The only recommendation is to set the AirPort's static Private IP address to one just outside of the Linksys' DHCP server range instead of inside it to prevent the same IP address being handed out to multiple clients.
You could do this a number of ways, but the simplest would be to use the Configure IPv4 = Manually option on the TCP/IP tab within the AirPort Utility. Use the LAN-side IP address of the Linksys for the Router Address, and the appropriate DNS server addresses (either your ISP's or a service like OpenDNS). The Domain Name field can be left blank.
Since the AirPort is in bridge mode, it really doesn't matter which Ethernet port (WAN or LAN) you connect the Linksys to, but for consistency, I would recommend the WAN (circle-of-dots) port.

  • Problems with router connecting to internet

Several weeks ago, there was a small blackout for a couple hours. When the power came back on, I could not get an internet connection. After disconnecting the router, and connecting the modem directly to the computer, I have been able to get online. However, I still cannot seem to get the router to work.
I have followed the steps to set up a PPPoE connection several times. The correct display lights come on on both the modem and the router. Also, the router's status page says it is connected and the computer's network connections says that the internet gateway is connected.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When you have a storm or power failure, disconnect all power cords and cables between the wall and the modem and you will not have any problems with your network

  • Huge problems with both Linksys site and HND

    Hello,
As business user of CISCO products and for @home using Linksys by cisco WRT610N with the Mediahub ive always been a huge fan of your products and still support it every day, however, i have been talking 3 times over chat support now about the 2 problems i have and it seems no one understands what is going on.
    1) I updated the firmware on my WRT610N to the latest from january 2009, succesfull
    2) I installed LELA and run the Home Network Defender setup, product installed, got a serialkey
    3) I click on a device change its security settings and then : PRODUCT NOT ACTIVATED.
Trying to log  in over and over doesnt solve anything and reinstalling i tried already 3x aswell, i had to use a different emailadress now everytime, very annoying.
Apart from that, i couldnt use my original login on your site anymore i am getting the request a new password emails with a new pass and link but when i then try to login, it keeps saying that the information is not correct, over and over, repeated the process already 10x, no difference.
Therefor im now using a brand new registed username so i can at least post about my problems and hope Linksys (CISCO) will fix these issues so we can all make sure things work perfectly as with Cisco business products.
I hope to hear from anyone asap as i wanna get my problems solved soon,
    Kind regards,

  • Cannot connect to PPPoE server with a Linksys WRT54G router

Hi everyone, I really hope someone can help me out, soon.
I went out yesterday and bought a Linksys router, as in my previous experience of using their products, I never had any trouble, but looking back, I think that may have been because I was using an ISP that used DHCP which is obviously more 'user friendly'.
I have an internet connection, but, at the moment, can only connect directly to my Siemens modem. When I put the router in the middle, it acts like it's not even there. I have only tried a wired connection so far.
I have tried installing the Linksys software on my flatmate's Windows machine, but that just hangs and continually asks for a password, (I have tried entering different ones, but to no avail).
The ISP is called Alice, (a German company).
    Hoping someone can help, soon.
    Thanks.

Thanks for your responses people. I have since figured out how to get to the Linksys web admin site, and I also have the wireless connection to my MB up and running.
The remaining problem is that my flatmates lovely old Windows XP laptop (wired only) cannot now connect. I am pretty sure it is not an issue with the router, but her Windows machine is all in German, and my German is ok, but dealing with techie stuff is another matter.
    Any ideas?

  • Problems with connection my WRT54G to my ADSL Router

    Hi,
I'm trying to place my WRT54G between my router and hub to use is as a firewall; however I'm stuck with what address the Gateway should be set to, an example of my IP config is as follows: -
    174.222.213.32 /28 (subnet mask - 255.255.255.240 - 16 addresses 14 usable)
    174.222.213.32       - Network Address
    174.222.213.33 to 45 - Usable
174.222.213.46       - Primary IP address on ethernet of router
    174.222.213.47       - Broadcast address
I'm using the Static IP settings on the setup screen.
If anyone could help it would be great.
    Thanks

Your gateway IP should be that of router's IP address. Try the following on your WRT54G (note: I have not done this type of setup myself)
Connect WRT54G WAN port to the (other) router and LAN ports to your hub or PCs.
    WRT54G WAN Settings:
    Internet connection type: Static IP
IP: 174.222.213.45 (if it's not already used)
    mask: /28
    gateway: 174.222.213.46
DNS: 174.222.213.46 (or your ISP's DNS IPs)
    WRT54G LAN Settings:
Choose other IP such as 192.168.whatever.whatever / 24 or smaller network
    enable DHCP if you'd like
You may have to tweak Advanced Routing as well but try the above first and leave advanced routing as default.

  • Problem with a new WRT54G wireless router

Hello. I recently purchased the WRT54G router to use in my home. Previously I had a desktop that was wired directly into the internet through a Comcast cable modem connection. I got a laptop and wanted to get it online as well, so I got the wireless router. Since installing and hooking up the router my internet on the desktop hangs. I do a bit of gaming, and it seems to come in almost regular intervals where I'll lose connection for one to three seconds at a time. I have the router hooked up such that my desktop is still hardwired, but coming out of the router. I tried to connect my desktop to the router wirelessly to see if this would remedy the problem, but it did notThis is quite frustrating and I've been unable to find anything that may be the cause of this. It also seems to happen on my laptop while browsing. I'll click a link and the browser will hang, unable to go anywhere, then I'll click again and it will go right through. If anyone else has had this problem or knows some way to fix it I'd love to hear about it. Thanks much Message Edited by Pezmage on 02-06-2008 04:49 PM

Try updating firmware. Reduce MTU to 1350, and disable block internet requests in security tab.
