Wi-Fi refuses to pull data through, even though it says it's connected

To preface this for those of you who will no doubt bring it up, yes I have searched for hours for a solution to this and tried all the solutions I could find.
But here goes anyway:
I have a 17" Macbook Pro that's about 2 years old. I live in a house with 7 other guys and we all use the same router. We have internet access via Time Warner and it's the fastest they offer. The router we use is huge and has no limit as to how many devices we can have connected to it at any given time.
My computer is running 10.8.4 OS and is totally updated. I mainly use Chrome but sometimes use other browsers as necessary.
The issue is that I have is that the Wi-Fi will connect to the router, but it absolutely will not pull any data through in any application. Everyone else in the house has no issue at all. I'm right above the router, so it's not a distance issue. My iPad, phone, Xbox, and Blu Ray player all connect without an issue, as do everyone else's macbooks in the house. My computer is the only thing. To reiterate, it shows that it's connected but no data will come through. My computer has no issue connecting to the school's 802.1X connection or any other WiFi. The girls next door have graciously been letting me use theirs, but I have to find a solution. (also, I'm not sure if it matters but I've also connected it to the router via ethernet and it works just fine. the wifi is the only issue)
Here is what I have tried so far:
Turning the WiFI off and back on again
Updating and restarting the computer
Reseting the router
Obtaining an updated IP address
Alternate DNS servers
Deleting the WiFi in network settings and re adding it
Deleting the System Configuration folder from the perferences folder
Copying the settings in the advanced network settings from my buddy's macbook that works on the network
I'm sure I've tried other things, but I've lost track at this point. I'm so frustrated by this because my computer is the only thing in the house that has this issue.
I've tried calling apple to no avail and I spent time with the IT department at school and they couldn't help either. (mainly because we obviously couldn't test anything, but they looked over all the settings and couldn't see anything amiss.
If anyone has any suggestions that I haven't listed above, please help. At this point, I'm not above just running a 100 ft ethernet cable to my computer or getting my own little router and running it off of the main modem, but I'd really rather not do that.

So my name is Zac and I will be your 1 to 1 HP Support Technician today. I understand you are using the Officejet 6480 with a wireless modem 802.11n. Unfortunately, the printer is not compatible with the modem. It is only compatible with Wireless 802.11b/g modems.

I am having the same issue listed above on my new Mac Mini i just bought, I also contacted Express VPN support and got the same instructions with exception of the command to run in the utilities terminal. I tried the steps listed, and both commands (posted here, and sent to me directly by Express VPN support), and still unable to connect on my Mac Mini running OS X 10.8.2, but I am able to connect on my iPad and my MacBook which is running Mac OS X 10.6.8. Usually Express VPN is spot on with their customer support, but this is taking longer to get resolved. Here is the steps sent to me
Try doing the following to see if the problem gets resolved:

(should still be the same for Lion) and then add the following DNS servers: 8.8.8.8 & 208.67.222.220. After adding the DNS servers, please do the following steps as well:
Note: If you're connecting to your ISP via a PPPoE connection, then set the DNS servers on the PPPoE connection itself and then restart your computer for the DNS settings to take effect.
1. Click on Applications
2. Click on Utilities
3. Click on Terminal
4. Type the following command (without the quotes): "sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder"
5. Press enter and then try reconnecting to the VPN.
If you're still unable to connect, please send us in the latest log files.

4th Gen won't connect to internet even though it says it's connected

Hello Apple Community!
I have been using my (4th Gen) Time Capsule to back up my devices and for my household WiFi for about 2 years now. The other day, after a storm, my connectivity was down. I thought it was my ISP, but after bypassing the TC and plugging the Ethernet Cable that would normally connect to the TC directly into my laptop, I was finally able to get back onto the web. (In fact, I am typing this question while hard-wired directly to my ISP modem... but I digress).
Here's the problem (and screenshot's provide a thousand words) -
The Time Capsule SAYS it is connected, but every single device that is connected to it {iPhones, MacBook, Xbox, etc.} will not connect to the internet. Each device is giving an error saying "Cannot connect to internet" or "Unable to connect to internet".
Remedies I have tried already:
Contacted ISP and verified that the internet was still working
Reset ALL devices including - modem and TC (like... 100 times)
Checked update for TC (and I am current with update 7.6.4)
Switched from DHCP to Static IP
Programmed DNS server to recommended addresses (99.196.99.99 and 99.197.99.99) and released them back to automatic
Turned OFF security password for WiFi and set network to OPEN
Factory Reset TC
Rebooted both TC and modem through both Apple recommended and ISP recommended power cycle instructions
Read through all current, passed and relevant 4th Gen Time Capsule connectivity issues throughout thread
I am about to see how the TC floats in the pond out back soon... (not kidding).
I have tried everything and it wont work! The only way I am typing this to the community is directly connecting to the ISP modem. Any suggestions, please help!
{P.S. - I took the screenshot of the router by pugging the cord back into the AirPort TC so you could see what I see, but again, to no avail.. I couldn't connect to the internet via the WiFi)

Electrical storm could have blown the WAN port of the TC, without the TC diagnostics showing it up.. hence the green led.
If you have not already done so, try powering down the TC for several hours. You need it cold, so overnight is a good idea.
Power up the TC and quickly test it.. you have around 10min before issues start if it has heat issues.
No luck quickly change the TC to bridge mode.. ie on the Network tab.. make sure it is off (bridge mode).
Plug the modem to another port of the TC.. LAN 1 2 or 3.. does the light come on?? From a computer, test if you have internet access. In this mode only one computer should have internet. Tell me how that test goes.
Do you have a computer running any OS prior to Mavericks? Even windows would do so you can load 5.6 airport utility.
In 5.6 utility you can set wan port speed to 10mbit half duplex.. I want you to do that.
And then test it again in router mode.
What modem are you using??

I can't get my usb 720 to open the internet with windows 8.1 even though it says it's connected.

I just down loaded my software for the vz usb 720 modem on a new windows 8.1 computer and it says it is connected but the internet won't come on. It says firewall settings my have to be changed (921) Has anyone had this problem and is there a software upgrade for windows 8.1 that I need to use, or is it so out of date it will not work with 8.1 at all?

Won't let me browse the internet, even though it says I am connected

Hey I just bought an Ipod Touch and tried connecting to my unsecure network. I did that just fine and it said I had really good signal but I tryed to go to google and it said "cannot find the server". Does anyone know what is happening? I would really appreciate an answer!

I'm having a similar problem. I'm trying to get on the internet at my school, it normally requires a username and password to get on to it from a laptop, but the Touch doesn't allow me to put in my username. I put my password in that is associated with my username and it doesn't work. I then tried "admin" as the password, and it connected me, but when I try to get on the internet it says that it can't find the server. Anyone know how I can get around this, or fix it? THANKS!!

ok so i got the ipod touch 4th gen 8gb for christmas and it was perfect for like 2 days, i was connecting to my cousins wifi home internet with no problems and going on safari and app store, now i am back home and the only internet i have is a laptop with a pay as you go modem which is fine and works perfect on the laptop.
so i tried setting up a ad hoc network on my laptop so i could connect my ipod to the internet and it actually worked pretty good at first !
but now i am connecting to the network on the ipod and it says i have full signal yet when i go on safari or app store an error pops up "safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the internet"

When I came home, I "connected" to it again like normal, but then I went to Safari and it said*: +"Safari cannot open page because it is not connected to the Internet."+ *What really confused me is that up in the top left corner next to where it says "iPod" it shows the Wifi connected with full signal. My brothers have 3rd generation iPod Touches, also both 64 gb, and they are connecting to the home Wifi perfectly. I don't know if it was the hotel Wifi that somehow messed up my iPod, but it certainly isn't working at my house. I have restored my iPod, but i haven't yet "forgotten" the network or restarted my router. I have read other messages and that is what it seems like I should do. They have an apple store in my town and I am wondering if I should take my iPod there to see if I could get it fixed or replaced. I am just very glad that it seems like this is a common problem.*

Assuming you are using Bluetooth headphones, do the apps have the option to use Bluetooth?
The app should have an option to select the speaker (or wired earphones) or the Bluetooth headphones.
You can also try:
iOS: Troubleshooting applications purchased from the App Store
Contact the developer/go to their support site if only one app.
Restore from backup. See:

It's difficult to be sure without doing some network packet sniffing, but if it were another app syncing, it would be an awful coincidence, since it seems to happen only while I'm in Reminders.app -- as soon as I click the home button and go back to the home screen, it stops; when I launch Reminders again, it starts again.
Moreover, it happens when I am not in the house, which rules out iTunes syncing.
Note that it's not the syncing spinner (i.e. two arrows chasing each other in a circle) -- it's the data access spinner (like the wait spinner in many apps and the apple.com search box).

Flash Player 10.1 is not installed even though message says it was successful.

I use W7 Ultimate, 64 bit, and IE 8. Whenever I try to watch video a message says I need to upgrade Flash Player and gives me a link to version 10.l
I uninstalled version 10.0.32.18, then downloaded and installed version 10.l. A message says the installation was successful. However, I still get the same message and link whenever I try to watch video. I tried repeatedly with the same results. Each time Update Checker identifies the installed version as 10.0.32.18 even though an Adobe message says the installation of v.10.1 was successful.
Can anyone help?

I got rid of Update Notifier, and I use Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro but am not a developer.
I honestly thought I was following all your instructions to the letter. I skipped some steps in my last post, but here is everything I really did.
I used the Administrator account, closed all applications, set the Internet security to Medium, put *.adobe.com in Trusted sites and set Internet security to low for it, removed real time protection for my antivirus, used Advanced Settings to disable the firewall, downloaded the Flash Player installer and uninstaller to the Desktop, disconnected the Internet, and closed all browsers.
The uninstaller was then run. Then the installer was run. The computer was booted . It was then rebooted. The insaller was run again. The computer was rebooted. The Internet was connected.
Please look over each step and if I'm skipping something I'll add it before trying again.

Hi gb, I think that you are relying on this Update checker too much. Early on, you confirmed what Flash files were installed. What the Update Checker reports is not correct, sorry. The proof in the pudding is what Flash Player files are Installed.
In Post#2, you had the correct Flash files Installed, regardless of what the Update Checker said. I can't use the Update Checker as the Standard on whether you have Flash Player Installed or not and you shouldn't either. This is getting too confusing.
The only issue you had was the Shockwave Flash Object did not Install and I posted the reasons in Post#6.
There is a procedure to Uninstall Flash Player and to Install Flash Player and it appears that you are relying on other programs to dictate.
Also I have never heard of anyone using the Adobe Update Manager for Flash Player. Perhaps you should read up on it and see if you really need it.
Are you a Developer? My suggestion would be to take a look in Programs and Features via Control Panel and see if all of the Adobe Programs you have Installed are needed. Then check your IE add ons for the same.
My Post# 6 still stands. Until that is corrected, there is nothing more that can be done. That Update Checker, does is have a website? If it is identifying those 2 files as Flash Player files, then I know I wouldn't be using it and you shouldn't either.

If you are unable to remember your password, security questions, don’t have access to your rescue address or are unable to reset your password for whatever reason, your only option is to contact Apple ID Support, upon speaking to an operator you should explain that your problem is related to your Apple ID, this way you will not be charged for assistance, even if you don’t have an AppleCare plan.
You will need to show patience with the procedure and be prepared to demonstrate without question that the account belongs to you. Don’t expect access to be restored immediately and if you aren’t the owner of the Apple ID registered to the device the account won’t be reset.

Hi Mike,
I had the same issue and managed to solve it.
Go into Mail>Preferences>Accounts
Then in the account information tab, at the bottom should be outgoing mail server (SMTP) and click the drop down box
Mine had a few different servers in it so i went into edit SMPT server list. Click advanced and it will tell you which ones are going from which email address.
Delete the ones you dont want, and it should work or instead of deleting click use only this server, i imagine that will work to
