Wi-fi remembering after sleeping with turned-on bluetooth

Hi Guys!
I found really weird issue for my Macbook Air 13" 2012.
Currently i'm on Mavericks, but not sure - is it Mavaricks's problem or my Air - when bluetooth is on and i close Air, after waking-up laptop doesn't connect to my Wifi network. Macbook sees my network but doesn't "remember" it.
But when bluetooth is off - it's ok. Laptop remember wifi and connects in one moment.
Maybe anybody has or had same problem.
Thanks!

Hi
Been following these discussion regarding mavericks and wifi dropping.
I also had a late 2013 MBP with mavericks preinstalled and everything reinstalled by me by hand (first time ever since the early days of pre OSX with OS6 as always migrated stuff over).
So when wifi started hanging on wake up from sleep I was both peed off after all the handwork and stymied.
So thanks to you all on the forums for offering clues.
These led me to figure out the issue was a conflict between Bluetooth and Wifi.
- Helpful pointers included getting iStumbler to examine network setups.
- Holding down alt key when choosing Wifi menubar icon to examine whether 2.4 or 5ghz channels (potential conflict twixt BT and Wifi competing on 2.4ghz?).
- Looking at the router I was using in terms of network protocol b, g, n, etc.
This led me to realise that the router I was using was an old Sky one with only b and g protocol.
I also had an apple equipment based (base unit and two express extenders) network running the more modern n protocol which was ethernet linked to the Sky router.
I had stopped using it a year previously as it would only pick up 2Mbs speed, compared to 8Mbs for the Sky, and gave up breaking my head as to why.
However on reading comments that referred to a router being the culprit I switched over to the Apple network (ethernet linked to the Sky router) rather than the Sky router only based network and hey presto.
Problem solved.
It seems all is good, no issues whatsover with Wifi dropping on wakeup or during use AND I am getting great speeds (10Mbs+) from the Apple based network, ethernet linked to the Sky router (dont ask why now).
A further note relates back to a historical parallel on my 2010 MBP with Wifi issues which turned out to be the Transmit menu bar icon. That seemed to have been resolved eventually, thanks to forums gathering options.
So when the similar issue arose with Mavericks my memory of this was triggered and I unchecked the Transmit menubar icon, but havent rechecked and rechecked it now I have Bluetooth and Wifi.
Will do after a few days of running the above BT/Wifi solution will post only if it affects the Wifi wakeup use problem.
So many thanks for all the angles and happy hunting for those still adrift with the Wifi dropoff issue.

  • No display after sleep with macmini using DVI - S-video/composite under XP

Hi guys, I have installed XP on my mini. I have CRT TV so I'm using
DVI -> S-video/composite to output to my TV.
The problem is after sleep - there is no display (it's woking only after reset).
I installed the latest drivers from the mac os 10.5 DVD & updated the graphics driver from Intel.
    Please help

Unfortunately, no answer, as I'm having the similar problem with a Samsung SyncMaster 215tw and a G4 Mini. It works with the DVI-VGA adapter and the VGA cable into the montor's VGA port. However, connecting with the G$ Mini's DVI port with the monitor's DVI port using a DVI cable doesn't work. I cannot figure out why this doesn't work.
The DVI cable is good and the monitor's DVI port is good, as the connection does work using my friend's Intel Mini's DVI port connected to the monitor's DVI port using the DVI cable.
The monitor is new, too, and otherwise works fine with my other Macs connected with the VGA port. (I've not tried the additional ports as yet.)
Although the monitor is supposed to synchroize automatically, I also tried manually presetting the G4 Mini to different resolutions, but that didn't make any difference. The screen remains black when it should be showing the booting Apple icon.
Any idea what is going wrong here, please, as it sounds as if this same thing occurs with various monitors?

  • After sleep, audio turned on when using USB-Audio!

It seems that after the EFI update, the external USB Audio device is also on after standby and not muted as before!
I have a C-Media USB Headphone set (this means external speakers over an USB), normally muted.
After sleep it is unmuted and at full volume. (When i let it with low volume, after standby it is also at full, but the bars are displaying it as low).
    Anyone same experience?

    UPDATE:
I decided to try going through an Firewire Audio Interface instead. Keyboard-(MIDI)->MOTU Traveler-(Firewire)->MacBook Pro.
    Same corruption/hiccups/choppy playback.

  • High virtual memory after sleep with Mavericks

Here is a screenshot of activity monitor below, right after lifting the lid on my MacBook Air 2013 running Mavericks 10.9.2 (upgraded from Mountain Lion).
It's in french but you can see that the virtual memory is running higher than I would expect (IMO). There is no slowdown of the OS, no beach balls, no memory pressure, ever.
This does NOT happen on my Macbook Pro 2012 (standard 13", no SSD) in identical conditions under the same OS version.
Here what i do in more detail. I run several apps at once:
    - MS Word (3 ou 4 docs)
    - Pages (1 or 2 docs)
    - Preview (1 or 2 medium or large PDFs)
    - Mail
    - iTunes
    - Safari (no more than 5 or 6 tabs at once)
    - Messages
    - A spell checker (Antidote. Yes, a french one)
    - Zotero
    - Activity monitor
RAM used is never above 6 Gb, and some it is usually cache anyway.
At the end of the day I close the lid to put the MBAir to sleep. The next day I see this high (or is it really that high??) virtual memory usage, with swap used anywhere from 300 to 900 Mb.
Computer runs smoothly, no hang ups, everything is seamless!
Is this normal operating behavior for a Macbook Air??
I know Mavericks introduced new RAM management, but should I just stop looking at Activity Monitor like I have OCD (I dont. I think.) or should I call Apple? Or do a clean install?
Suggestions welcome! If I'm missing info please advise. If a thread already exists about this I didn't find it...

You are not alone in being baffled and worried about the memory readings in the Activity Monitor.  There are many postings on this.  Mavericks uses memory quite differently than previous OS X versions and so the numeric memory usage readings no longer mean what they used to.  The best indicator now is the Memory Pressure graph, which on yours is low and green (good).
Computer runs smoothly, no hang ups, everything is seamless!
Yep.  Mavericks runs great.  There is nothing you need to change or be worried about, espeically with 8 GB of RAM.
should I just stop looking at Activity Monitor like I have OCD
Yes, unless you want to watch the green Memory Pressure graph but that would be booring.

  • Brightness control not working in Windows 8 x64 after sleep with Boot Camp 5.0.2

    Hi,
I am using Boot Camp 5.0.2 with Windows 8 x64.
Wheen the computer has been in sleep mode, and wakes up again, the brightness control won't work as expected.
Usually the screen is to dark (darker than before, what it should be), and after some time pops up brighter as it should be.
Has onyone else seen this issue?
I mean, it seems that for brightness we use the internal control GUI of Windows 8, and not the Apple one that is used in Windows 7 and in Windows 8 for the sound control.
Macbook Pro 13" Retina, early 2013 (brand new) with 8GB RAM and 512GB SSD and 3.0GHz i7.

I have been having the issue of no brighness control when running windows through bootcamp for about 6 months now and have not found any applicable solution online.
While messing around trying to figure it out yet again I noticed that my monitor driver was signed by team viewer...
Sure enough clicking the roll driver back button resolved the issue by rolling the driver back to the Microsoft driver...
    So long story short:
Right click "My Computer" click properties
Click device manager (lop left of window)
    Expand Monitors section
    Double Click monitor
    Click driver tab
If the driver here is not signed by Microsot or Apple click the roll back button. My driver version is 6.1.7600.16385 (Driver date 6/21/2006)
Rolling this back instantly resolved my issue. I will now propagate this post to all the threads I saw regarding this issue.
    I am running windows 7 x64 Ulti on a 15" rMBP.
    Best of luck

  • Mac Pro 3,1 with 5770 problems after sleep with Lion

    Hi,
with 10.7.3 there was a fix for older iMacs with the same issue on an HD 2600 but my mac Pro with the 5770 has the same problem.
Is the Mac Pro user less important for Apple?
My card works fine afer restart. No issues and performance problems (cinebench scores 37fps) but when i sleep my mac and then wake it up all graphic UI things are creepy. There are laggy animations and so on and the speed in Aperture is decreased to a minimum. Cinebench scores after wake up only 16fps.
I bought the card to INCREASE my speed (formerly i have had the HD 2600 built in) and for now, my 249€ is spent for nothing. I dont want to restart my Mac everyday.

So, i have set up a completely new system with all updates to 10.7.4 and the problem already exists.
I am not sure, if this was a problem with Lion or with the ATI 5770
    Not really nice

  • My MBP 2011 w Lion freezes after sleep with blue screen and other sleep issues

My MBP v2 of 2011 line with Lion on it freezes occassionally (maybe 1 out of 10 awakenings from sleep) where the screen is blue and only way to make it stop is to hold the power button and restart.
Another issue I have is I'll come out of sleep, and the wallpaper on my screen disappears, and I just see a gray background.  If I go to Monitor preferences, it claims the wallpaper is set to my normal background.  Restarting has the background display again.
Note: I often use a external monitor, so good chance these freezing issues happen when I unplug/plug in the external monitor (via DVI cable to DisplayPort converter to MBP)
Today I had a slightly different experience with the freezing.  It had my second monitor have a bunch of pixelated garbage and a message about holding power button down and restarting.  I restarted, and got a "your system has crashed unexpectedly" like message, so I told it to send the data to Apple.

I used to have that problem as well, try going to system preferences and having the computer require a password after waking, worked for me.

  • Brightness low after sleep / screen turn off

Whenever my iMac wakes up from sleep or the screen comes back to life, I have to reset the brightness back to the level I prefer, its not automatically going back to that level but is reset to its lowest level every time...
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks

What you're experiencing could be normal--it takes the screen a minute or so to "warm up" after it's been asleep for awhile, so when you first turn it on or wake it up, it will look dull.

  • 10.4.9 - Problems after Sleep with Logitech Mouse

    Hi there -
since installing 10.4.9 I'm having problems with my Logitech Mouse after waking up my iMac G5 from Sleep.
The mouse will behave erratically, almost as if buttons are continually being pressed. For example, if I click any items in the Menu Bar then it behaves as if I immediately clicked again.
This weird behavior will continue until I hit the Apple or Command keys on the keyboard, after that all is fine.
I'm using the LCC drivers 2.1.3 and under 10.4.8 all was fine.
Anyone else seeing this behavior? Anyone have any tips how to fix this?
    Thanks,
    Tim

    Hi Tim Tschirner;
I had something similar happen with my Mighty Mouse after the last security update. One of the switch started misbehaving immediately after the update. I took the mouse into the Apple store and discovered that is was a problem with the mouse and not the update because it did the same thing on their Mac.
Have you tried the mouse on another system to be sure it is not a problem with the mouse?

  • MBP re-awakens after sleep with lid shut with Mavericks update

My MBP seems to want to re-awaken itself after I make it go to sleep by closing the lid!
This has started since the last couple of updates. Weirdest thing - it would go to sleep after I close it, and then after a while it would try to re-awaken with the lid shut, and it keeps doing it over and over again.
I noticed that the machine was hot, one day when I came home, and then I realized that it was hot because it keeps wanting to come awake after I closed the lid, and noticed it the last couple times I went to bed myself!
    What is this weird glitch?
    Thank you.

    Hi 24Golfer,
Take a look at the article below and verify there isn't a sleep preference set that's causing the issue with your portable.

  • Why do I need to reconnect after sleep with WEP enabled?

I have a MacBook and an old iMac. I enabled WEP and closed network on my Snow Airport but now every time the iMac goes to sleep and wakes up, I have to reenter the WEP key to connect to the Airport. This does not seem to be a problem on the MacBook. I put the iMac in my 5 year old son's room so he is too little to reenter the password everytime, that means I have to do it. That just doesn't seem right. Shouldn't the password remain active and logged in to the Airport even through sleep? Is there another setting I have to change? For now, I just disabled WEP but I am concerned about the lack of security. Thanks for any help or advice.
Oh, I configured the AirPort on the iMac because I could not get the AirPort Admin Utility to work on my MacBook. I just read a previous post and found the solution to that but have not tried configuring the Airport from the MacBook to see if that makes a difference. Need to go to work now. Thanks for any advice
    Thom

Try the following on the iMac, if you use Preferred Networks:
    1. Delete Preferred Network(s)
    o System Preferences > Network > AirPort > Configure
o In the "By default, join:" pull-down menu, select "Preferred networks"
o Delete the network(s) you regularly use from the list
    2. Delete AirPort Keychain Entries
o Launch the "Keychain Access" application located in Applications/Utilties.
o Click on the "Kind" filter at the top, and look for any "AirPort network password" entries...and delete them.
o Restart, or log out then back in.
    3. Add Preferred Network(s)
    o System Preferences > Network > AirPort > Configure
o In the "By default, join:" pull-down menu, select "Preferred networks"
o Add the preferred network(s) using the "+" button.
o Restart or log out then back in.

  • 9320 on Constant Reboot after Trying to Turn On Bluetooth

My BB Curve 9320 is constant reboot.
I've had the phone about 9 months.  I went to turn on the Bluetooth for the first time today.  As soon as I opened the menu tray and "checked" bluetooth the phone shut off.  It started to reboot...it went through the whole cycle of loading and will reach the regular screen, but after 3 seconds will shut off and restart again.  Continuously.
    I have:
-taken the battery out (multiple times): continues
-followed the advice to start in Safemode, it will start in safemode, but shuts off after 3 seconds and reboots
-connected it to laptop via USB, but the computer will not pick up the device to be able to access it
I have actually gotten to the screen and in the 3 second window been able to click on the Networks tray again to see that Bluetooth is no longer "checked" on--doesn't matter, still only have the 3 secs before the reboot cycle.

  • Macbook Pro won't login after sleep (sleep with low battery -- mac turned off maybe it's called save sleep)

Macbook Pro won't login after sleep (sleep with low battery --> mac turned off maybe it's called save sleep)
So if I hit the powerbutton my mbp booted like it is booting from the save sleep (so very fast and the login screen is there in about 10 sec.and there is no apple logo while booting just the desktop screen in "unsharp" ore foggy however...)
Then when i see the login (if the keyboard backlight turned on) i wand do tipe in my code but it won't work... the trackpad is not working; and when i plug-in a usb mouse the mbp is not powering on the usb-mouse (laser is off)
    Why is that this way?
Is there n option to wake up the mbp fromm deep/save sleep without haveing issiues after that?

Sorry for such a long delayed response...
I was able to get to an apple store this past weekend, and let me tell you... I'm about finished with there great "support".
Right before I went to the store, I tried to eject a disk. Well the cloth in the SuperDrive (I assume to protect the drive from dust and such) Pulled up with my disk. So I get the Apple store, describe my problem and what happened with the cloth piece. The "Genius" writes up a form and tells me they have to run diagnostic and it will take a couple days... and I will get a call when its done (1-3 days).
Well on day number 3 I called up the store and they told me it was ready to be picked up? I asked if anything had been fixed and they told me they could not reproduce my "sleep issue", so they couldn't fix that.. but told me the cloth piece in the SuperDrive had been fixed.
I drive an hour (one way) to the Apple store to find that all they did was PULLED OUT the cloth... they did not replace it! So basically I have a hole for a Super Drive.
I asked why I was not called to say that my computer was ready to be picked up... didn't get an answer on that one.
I asked why my SuperDrive was said to be fixed, when nothing was done... they told me that it would have to be sent out to the factory store for that to be fixed (FIRST TIME THEY MENTIONED THAT!) Oh, and that would take 5-7 business days. Well that's not going to happen right now considering I'm a college student that NEEDS a working computer!
So I go home, angry... start just putting all my important documents back on the computer. And the screen starts blinking!!!! I guess now I have the same thing described in another post on these forms...
Lets just say that I'm not very happy with Apple right now! If anybody else has success on either the sleep issue or the screen blinking issue, please let me know!
    Thank you!
