Wi-Fi worked and now it doesn't
I am a teacher and my daughters bought me the iPad for use in our school. The first day I brought it, the iPad connected but was slow. The next day, the iPad connected fine and ran fairly fast. Both days had a strong signal. On day 3, the iPad shows a strong signal but now will not connect to the internet.
I have tried all of the fixes in this Wi-Fi discussion threads, hard reset, power down router, updated firmware, mac address filtering turned off, but nothing seems to work. The IP address shown in the settings starts with a "169" which one of the forums discussed was self assigned therefore I input one from my IS manager to see if that was the problem, but to no avail. I'm at my wits end with an iPad loaded with useful internet apps that I can't use... It works fine in my home connected to either my airport extreme base station or my non-secure neighbors Netgear, no problems there, just at school with the Belkin router.
I did do the reset as well. I am not sure what encryption is being used, I just know the password, although I will say that my IS person asked me to try adding a dollar ($) sign at the end or beginning of the password. Sounded a little hokey, but I tried it, didn't work...
I will find out what encryption we use. Is there a preferred type for iPads?

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

IDVD was working and now it doesn't
Last spring I created a movie in iMovie, shared it with iDVD and created a DVD using iDVD. It worked wonderfully. The movie turned out perfect, plays perfectly in my DVD player. I was thrilled. Now I want to create another DVD using iDVD and I can't get it to work. It opens the program and then freezes and I can't even get the initial screen to open, the beach ball just keeps spinning and spinning. I've tried reloading the software and I've tried repairing disk permissions. Nothing works. How do I get iDVD to work again???

Trash the iMovie and iDVD preference files.
*Quit iMovie and iDVD.*
Locate a file named com.apple.iMovie.plist and one named com.apple.iDVD.plist and get rid of them. Both apps will create new preference files the next time they run.
Then, empty the trash and run a permissions repair from the Disk Utility folder.
The files are located here:
Users/YourName**/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iMovie.plist and
Users/YourName**/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iDVD.plist
Also, check to be certain that all of your apps are updated to the latest software updates. (QuickTime, iDVD, OS X, ext)
Then run another permissions repair.

I'm asuming you are using iTunes then to sync? this can be done over WiFi or the USB cable.
Review your setting for the calendar sync once iTunes is open and your iPhone is connected. Make sure your Calendars are selected to sync that you need. By default all calendars will.
So the option i have for you is to reset the sync service and this will reset those settings in iTunes. Meaning that you will have to switch them on again in iTunes to sync. But this mostly clears unresolved sync issues.
Please do yourself a favour and hit backup in iTunes before doing any testing. iTunes will then keep a local backup of your iPhone in case of any data loss.

open Terminal from your Utilities folder and paste this command in to reset. OS X 10.6 - 10.8
/System/Library/Frameworks/SyncServices.framework/Versions/A/Resources/resetsync .pl full [press Enter]
if it prompts for a password, just type your password and hit [Enter] again.
Open iTunes then set your syncs up and it should then carry on again.

Did you try booting off your Install disk holding the c key down. From here you can get to the drop down menu just a few clicks in (you are not going to install) and run the Disk Utility>Repair Disk. See if it will let you do this. -

I recently got an extension cord for my ipad charger and the first time I used it it worked and now when I plug it in to my ipad It doesn't do anything. What do I do?
I think that we all understood what you meant. If the extension cord is no longer working, then return it.
We are all trying to tell you that you can plug the power block into a standard household extension cord - using the short cord that came with the iPad - and there is no need for the extension cord that you bought.

I imported videos from photo into iMovie when I set up iMovie (obvious mistake) and now iMovie doesn't work properly, nor can I move specific videos into a folder where I want them. How do I fix this? I even tried deleting iMovie, bought a new copy and installed it, but the folder "iPhoto Videos" is still there and I can't get new clips loaded to iMovie, especially where I want them. Please help.
The iPhoto Videos do occasionally have problems. I've seen a lot of people write messages to this Discussion group describing similar problems. The only thing that seems to get around this problem is to pull the video clips out of iPhoto then import them directly into iMovie. Once the troubles with iPhoto Videos starts, I haven't yet seen anyone write back with something that they did to fix it.
The most difficult part of doing this is the movies in iPhoto might be a little difficult to track down. But you can create a smart alum that does that for you. Go to iPhoto > File Menu > New Smart Album:
Set the first pulldown menu to keyword, second to contains, then in the last box type Movie with a capital 'M'. Then click OK. This smart album more or less does as search of the whole iPhoto Library and only displays items that match your search tearm of "Movie" exactly. In that smart album then you can find the original Movies you want to move out of iPhoto and into iMovie, <CTRL> click on the Movie clip, then choose Reveal in Finder. That will jump you out of iPhoto temporarily and into the iPhoto Library folder. From there you can move that movie file to the desktop. Move all the clips you want, once they're all collected up go to iMovie and go to the File Menu > Import Files. Then point it to the desktop where you moved your video clips.
This will put all those videos into an Event folder in iMovie and bypass iPhoto Videos altogether. -
I clicked "yes" to upgrade iTunes and now it doesn't work. I get an error message stating my computer is missing MSVCR80 and then a message stating Error 7 (Windows Error 126). I've tried reloading iTunes twice. What can I do?
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

Trouble with FP 10.3.183.7 upgrade - wasn't working and now doesn't download
Current system info:
Windows 7 (64 bit)
Internet Explorer 9 (using 32 bit for downloading FP)
I upgraded to 10.3.183.7 and immediately noticed my laptop unable to display/use Flash features (facebook games, online flyers, video, etc)
I uninstalled and installed multiple times using both Control Panel and the uninstaller provided on Adobe help page. I restarted my laptop after every install and after every uninstall. I made sure to use 32-bit IE each time.
At first Programs (and Control Panel) showed FP as installed but now it doesn't register as installed at all - aside from the installer program telling me it is installed.
After installing, on the Adobe 'test' page instead of the spinning F I see a box with an 'x' in the top left hand corner (like an image/graphic that won't load).
I tried the beta FP 11 but same problem. It at least showed up on my programs list. I uninstalled it and am back to FP 10.3
I have been on the help page trying anything I can find to get it working but no luck so far. Any advice for this issue?

I downloaded Google Chrome and FP seems to work with it (though I'm not a big fan of the browser)So, it would appear to be an IE issue? Hi, I have a freecom 1TB hard drive which was working fine until it froze. I pulled it out (mistake I now know) and now it doesn't mount. It shows up in Disk Utility but won't manually mount. When I try to repair it gives message 'failed on exit'. Some people have said to try Disk Warrior, but at $100 it's quite expensive maybe fix. help!
You likely need to reformat the drive which will destroy all data and you need a backup to restore it. If no backup is present then a data retrieval service can be more expensive than DiskWarrior. There is software that can rescue the data but I can not vouch for it's effectiveness as I have always maintained backups. .

Possibly
iPhoto does not see your card reader - it sees the card so renaming it might create a problem since you are writing to the card
Do you have photos on it you need to save? If so give image capture a try (it is in your applications folder) or use the finder -- once you have your photos off of it user your camera to reformat the card (the camera's format command) and see if that cures it (it probably will go back to untitled)

Files deleted from the Library and now internet doesn't work?

I'm new here and this is probably going to sound dumb but... my father deleted some files from the Library by mistake and now internet doesn't work in his computer. Everything seems normal, but the webpages don't load (we tried lots of pages and 3 browsers). If you try to update any software it can't connect to the internet either.
He reinstalled the system (it's Mountain Lion, I think) but it didn't worked (it was a partial reinstallation, without losing the data). He also tried restarting and pressing CMD-R but nothing happened.

The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
If using Wifi/Airport...
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
For 10.5/10.6/10.7/10.8, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...
