WICH ONE SHOULD I CONNECT TO THE INTERNET (DSL) FIRST?

I have a Emachine Desktop and I just purshased a ibook G4. Very soon I will connect to the internet. I will call Cox High Speed Internet Service. Wich of the two should i connect to the DSL? The ibook G4 or the Emachine desktop? I am taking in consideration the wireless Home Network also. This is the reason why I will like to get advise from some one experience on this.

The other poster has a DSL modem/router. You may not. Check the back of your modem to be sure.
If your modem only has a single ethernet port, you will need to get a router. The router will have a "WAN" port which must be connected to the modem, and the other "LAN" ports for connecting computers in your network to the router. The router has a DHCP server that will distribute internal IP addresses to each connected computer.
Also, if you are calling Cox cable, you will be getting a cable modem, not a DSL modem. DSL service is provided over your phone line, usually by your phone company

I use a DSL to connect to the internet. The modem is a Westell C90-810030-06. Two things happened in connection with the fail. I upgraded the firmware in both my Time Capsule (connected to the DSL) and the Airport Extreme (connected to my printer--used to extend the network). I also upgraded my Colof Nook to the Android Faux Tablet version. I can't imagine that that is creating some sort of mismatch.
I have now downgraded the firmware on the Time Capsule to 7.4.1 which is what I had before. Fortunately, I found the trick to downloading the older airport utility to find the older firmware. All the older versions disappeared from my computers.
I still have the same problem. Wifi works fine. If a second device connects to the wifi, then it works fine, but the first no longer has a connection.
And my Airport Extreme is not working at all. It cannot be seen by the computer. I tried resetting it. I'm going to connect it by ethernet and downgrade the firmware on it.
I appreciate any help. This is so frustrating.

Should I connect to the internet for a first time-machine back-up?

I'm doing a first back-up on my iMac using Time Machine and and external HDD. Does it need to be connected to the internet? Are there pros/cons to either way?

What is that Time Capsule connected to? If you're trying to connect it to a broadband modem, you may need to reset the modem to convince it to connect to a "new" device. Depending on the model of modem, that can be as easy as removing power for a few moments. If that doesn't work, remove power and wait 15 minutes. Further reset steps can involve pressing a "reset" button or removing a battery if the modem has one. In the worst case, your ISP may need to edit its settings to update to the MAC address of the new router. If they won't or can't do that, powering down the modem for 16 to 36 hours can reset the connection.

Network currently connected how ever one pc not connected to the internet

i have the wrt54gl and i got 2 pc's wired and ps3 connected wireless. my dell deminsion e520 was working fine yesterday however today I am unable to connect to the internet today. I reseted everything change the ports and still nothing for e520. But i am still able to share files thru-out the network even my ps3 could see my computer also. any suggestion?

As you have mentioned in the post, only you 1 PC is not able to go online through the router, an you all other computers are able to go online? If you have any Firewall or Antivirus installed on your computer, try disabling it,and then check if you are able to go online from your Dell PC. If still you are not able to go online then you may try Click on Start - RUN - CMD - "ping yahoo.com" and check if you are getting any replies, If yes then i feel it might be the problem with your Internet Explore.
Click on Start - Control Pannel - Internet Options - then click on the "Connections" tab and below click on"LAN Settings" and uncheck all the checkboxes and click on Ok.
Now open your IE and check if you are able to browse internet on your computer.

New Router and Now One PC cannot Connect to the Internet

I have Verizon FIOS and it has worked well for about a year. All of a sudden my TV and Internet went dead. The TV came back, but I could not access the internet. I called for service, they replaced the router. Now two computers came back up but not my main one. I released the IP address and renewed it. My PC says my network card is good. I replaced the cable. When I launch Firefox or Explorer, I just get the message "Server not found". I am not very computer saavy, so I am desperate. Any of you computer geeks out there have any ideas. I really appreciate it. Thanks.

if your using IE please be sure you go into Tools, Internet Options, Connections tab and then click lan settings, make sure AUTO DETECT is checked. After that is done click ok and then you should be back to the connectivity tab. Make sure you have Never Dial a Connection selected and then click apply or ok. Restart your IE window and should be good to go from there.

Well to use the Cloud based assets, yes. Depending on the subscription, CC needs that Internet connection to check your subscription. Every 30 days for a monthly plan. 99 days if you have an annual plan.
If for some reason you get signed out of CC, then you need Internet to sign back in. It can be a wireless hotspot at a cafe or other public wifi or a friend's, but you will need internet to sign in. CC pushes updates as they become available, so you want to check at least once a month.
So no, not at all times if you are using the software only.

You're only allowed to authorize 5 devices with your apple id.
How many have you got authorized?
Maybe deauthorize one of them.

My iphone 5 is receiving email but will not connect to the internet

I am receiving/sending emails but cannot connect to the internet. I already did a shut down (holding down the Home Button and Shut off at the same time). What else can I do?

Sending and receiving email means you are connecting to the Internet.
First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
Also check Settings > General > Restrictions and make sure you don't have Restrictions enabled and if you do that Safari is not being blocked.

My WRT160N does not connect to the internet.

I have 2 computers and connect wired with one and wireless with the other one. I installed my router and plug in the internet cord from my wired PC (while that Ethernet cord is plugged in to the back of my wired PC I have Active internet on it) to the back of my router in the "internet" port. And then I have a another Ethernet cord from the back of my router in port "1" going to the PC. At that time my wired PC confirms that there is a physical connection however there is no internet on the wired PC any more. As for my Wireless PC, it detect and connect to the WRT160N router however it has no internet connection. Now if I take the Ethernet cable (that is connect from the modem to the WRT160N Router and from the router to the PC), and removed it from the router and plug it in directly to the PC (so that it will be from the modem to the PC) I will have active internet once again.

You should reset your linksys router and then, re-configure it...
Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...
Also make sure that your computer is set to obtain IP automatically, disable any firewalls, security softwares on the computer before trying to access the setup page.
Your PC should be connected to the Ethernet Port 1 of the Linksys router, your modem should be connected to the Internet port of the Linksys router...

I have 2 Apple TV's in my home. When I attempt to login, is say cannot connect to the internet. I have reset both Apple TV's and also restarted them both.but still cannot connect to the internet. I al reset my router and still not change

I have 2 Apple TV's in my home. One is 2nd Generation and the other is 3rd Generation. One one that is 2nd Gen cannot connect to the internet. First I restarted, the I rest it and I even changed the password. still no connection. So I purchased the 3rd Gen TV and I have to same problem, but they are in different rooms. Before I had no problem with my 2nd Gen TV, but then one day it did not connect. I even had my internet provider come and check my internet and it worked ok, but no connection with the Apple TV. I have tried everything but no results. Somebody please help me.

ADE cannot connect to the internet

I have been using Digital Editions for some months now without any issues. Suddenly, the software cannot connect to the internet.
Firstly, I have carefully checked my ID and password and these are both correct, and I can log into my account via my browser.
I have been looking through the forums, and it was suggested that I deactivate the software on my PC and deactivate my ereader, and then reactivate both. This didn’t work, as I cannot connect to the Adobe server, and so I cannot reactivate.
I have tried changing the settings on the firewall to allow ADE through, and have also tried switching the firewall off temporarily. Neither of these worked.
I have tried deleting ADE and reinstalling, but this didn’t work.
I have been using ADE version 3, and tried deleting this and installing version 4, but this didn’t work.
I have checked that I can connect to the Adobe server via my browser using the URL http://adeactivate.adobe.com/. This shows a web page headed by the words “Welcome to Digital Editions” and confirms that my PC can connect to the server via my browser, but not from ADE.
However, my browser cannot connect to the URL http://aractivate.adobe.com. This webpage is not available. Perhaps this is the root of the problem?

Two that might help.
1) check your firewall and antivirus. Maybe even try with them (temporarily) turned off.
2) There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0. Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.
(You can have them both installed at once if you like.)
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

We use an Airport Extreme in my office, which works fine for me. Occasionally we need to have more than one computer running on it, but for some reason it won't connect to the internet. It says we have internet, but won't connect to wifi. What's going on?

I use my computer everyday in our office and have no issue connecting to the internet/wifi, but when my boss comes in and tries to connect it doesn't work. It tells her she has internet, but won't connect to the wifi. We've tried a few different tactics(the basic ones I've seen on here), but nothing seems to be working for us. My computer automatically connects to our wifi.
Just recently the Airport Extreme has started with the blinking amber colored light on the front, which I believe means something is wrong? Can anyone help us figure out what's going on and why we can't get my boss' computer to connect as it should?

Here's an update:
Now the light is not blinking. It's a solid, consistant green. I don't know if it helps to narrow it down or anything, but I just figured I'd mention it.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems connecting your printer to the internet.
I have included a document about maintaining wireless connectivity. Please follow the steps in "Solution two: Assign the printer a static IP address". When you reach the steps about setting the DNS servers, for the Preferred DNS server please use 8.8.8.8 and for the Alternate DNS server please use 8.8.4.4. These are Google's DNS servers. Once you have set the manual ip and dns servers, please try to enable web services. It should go through.

A trick that works frequently with iPhones:
Settings > AirPlane Mode ON, Do Not Disturb ON
Power down and wait 5-10 minutes
Power up
Settings > AirPlane Mode OFF, Do Not Disturb OFF
If not successful, an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is usually in order.

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? See other networks? If yes that tends to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points

If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Does an ipad connect to the internet even if no one turns it on?

I lost my ipad and put it in lost mode from findmyiphone, but it will not show unless it connects to the internet. How will it connect to the internet if no one can open it? It has a password. Does it automatically do that if I have connected to that wifi previously?

It can auto connect to a trusted WiFi router if someone has it on. Should do it even without entering the passcode.
