Wide screen pc monitor problem

For instance, on ebay, when I add specifications, the go or enter button doesn't show because it's a pop up screen so there's no way to scroll down. Or, when trying to submit on an order form, the submit button doesn't show and can't scroll down. I hate wide screen pc monitors, but I'm stuck with it. Anybody know how to fix this problem? If I zoom out on ebay, that doesn't work either.

You should be fine but if you want to be safe Newer Technology sells a stand for about $40

  • Aliasing in Final Cut Pro 4.5 and on 20inch wide screen Dell monitors

Hello everyone. I have a question that has been stumping me for a few weeks and then realized that I should ask the best forum in the world. First off, all the standard def. videos that I work with in FCP 4.5 appear to be aliasing and this also has been consistently happening in QuickTime outside of FCP. When I output videos to DVD or tape the tapes look great on my broadcast monitor and TV. I have tried a variety of screen settings in my preferences and still nothing. I have ensured that everything on the timeline has been rendered. As of now, I'm fresh out of ideas. So I was wondering if anyone out there in FCP Universe has experienced something similar to this and may have some suggestions that might prevent me from pulling what little hair I have left out of my head. Thanks a bunch
    Erv

If you're only watching on your computer monitor, you will not see full quality - you need to watch on a TV or Broadcast monitor. There's a whole section in your manual on how to hook up a TV to your system.
If you're looking at DV footage in Quicktime, QT Player is only showing half the resolution and doubling it. You need to set the video to High Quality. (somewhere under cmd-j).

  • HELP! some dialogue boxes disappear off screen (multiple monitor problem?)

For example, I am trying to edit a video. When I click "Edit video timing" under Video menu, the dialogue box cannot be found and Captivate is stuck, unresponsive. The only way to 'un-stuck' CAptivate is by pressing Escape key. I have tried rearranging windows with Mission Control, but the dialogue box is clearly within the same window/workspace as Captive, yet so far below the main window that it remains inaccessible. I cannot figure out to fix this. HELP! This is not the only dialogue box that disappears like this....

    Hi there
You might try clearing your preferences file for Captivate.
Look in the folder where Captivate is installed. In that folder should be a Utils folder. There should be a clean preferences file. Try closing Captivate and running that file.

  • Question on wide screen picture

I run Itunes on a Pentium D Gateway PC with a 21" wide screen LCD monitor. The monitor can also be used as a HDTV. I have downloaded somed episodes of Battlestar Galactica and the Stargate shows. When I view them I select fit to screen and it fills my screen with an excellant picture. Is Itunes really giving me a wide screen picture or is it just doing a good job of making a regular 4:3 picture look good?

Good question! Wish I had a monitor like yours~!

  • 19 inch wide screen monitor problem

My daughter has my old 450MHz G3 (10.3.9). We bought her a 19 inch wide screen monitor for Christmas. I hooked it up for her and booted the machine. Everything came up fine although the monitor resolution was set to a somewhat funky resolution of 1350? x something, I don't remember exactly. I set it to the monitor's native resolution of 1440 x 900 thru the display preferences and it took that fine.
My daughter shut down the machine that night and when she booted it the next morning, the monitor displays the message "No Input Signal" (or something to the effect). I haven't had a chance to get over there and look at it yet, but the only idea I have to fix the problem offhand is to reset the machine's PRAM.
I'm puzzled that after initially hooking the monitor up the machine had no trouble feeding it a signal, but after a shutdown and reboot, it has a problem. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be happy to hear them.
    B & W G3 450MHz   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

I zapped the PRAM on the machine and it booted up fine. The monitor's display was set to 1440 x 900 when it finished booting. I found this a bit mysterious, as I figured zapping the PRAM would reset it to the resolution it had when I first hooked it up.
To test things, I shut the computer down and rebooted it. Once again, the monitor gave the "No Input Signal" message and remained off. So I restarted the computer and did the PRAM zap again and it once again came up fine w/the resolution at 1440 x 900.
I told my daughter to have the machine go to sleep rather than shut it down and I set the energy saver preference to do so. She's had no problems since I did that, but I'd really like to know why shutting the machine down is causing the resolution confusion.
Jeff replied to this thread suggesting to really fix the problem I may need to get a graphics card that natively supports the 1440 x 900 resolution. I've thought of that possibility, but it's not very attractive since, unless I could find a cheap used card, I'd probably have to spend about as much for a card as I could sell the machine for.

  • I recently updated Firefox and when I did the screen displays the sites in the centre of the screen and in very small text. I have a newer monitor with a wide screen. How do I go about fixing this problem?

I have a new computer with a wide screen. Before I updated the web sites would fit the width of the screen, now that I've updated the web sites only display in the centre of the screen and they appear squished.

I'm using iOS 7.04 on my iPhone and basically can't use it. The screen is going crazy. I type and special characters show up. I have to hit send more than once (it grays out, then hit again) then it sends. I type words in text or email and it backspaces and deletes my entire message. I tap an application and it starts wiggling to delete. I've reboot several times. I'm looking at restoring, but that is a pain in the arse (it's my work phone). I'm nervous it will not restore properly.
I have iOS 7.03 on iPad and have no issues.

  • Question about wide-screen monitor on Solaris x86

    I have Solaris x86, version 10/2009 installed.
It works fine with any wide-screen monitor I plug in.
But when I use this 3rd party CAD/CAM software, any round
circle is being displayed as an oval shape. I believe that's because
on the wide-screen monitor, the width of the monitor is longer than the height.
Does anyone know if there's a setting to change so that I can view circles as true round circles instead of an oval shape? Thanks.

OK, I know what the problem is now.
But I need to change the resolution settings. Does anyone know how to change it on x86, version 10/2009?
I recall it being something like "kdmconfig"

  • LR and Wide Screen Monitors

Probably a simple question so kindly bear with me on this one. I have the opportunity of picking up a wide screen monitor in the next couple of days at a reasonable price - 19" 1440 x 900. My question, how will LR appear on this size monitor - will it fill the screen or will I experience black banding at the top and bottom? I like the idea of the further width to increase the panels but hate banding even on TV

    Hi Alan
I have the Dell 2407 monitor (1920 x 1200) which has the same aspect ratio (1:1.6) as your proposed monitor. I find this monitor "perfect" for LR - it looks like LR was designed with this aspect ratio in mind (consider that most digital cameras have a 1:1.5 aspect ratio).
If you hide the left and right panels then you will only have a small "black band" on the left and right of the image. In all other situations this screen will be well utilized.
    Regards, Nigel

  • Mov to avi program, sound video import sync problem CS4, creating wide screen

I am using Premiere Pro CS4. I have edited for years on and off, most often I am on set. I just need to set this up right to work.
I have mov footage, and used Pazera to convert it to avi. It does not look right. Here are my convert questions.
    1. is Pazera an ok convert program, or do you have another free, non watermark, high quality program you recommend..?
    2. What is the best convert video and audio to use. Right now I have it as auto and it was awful.
    3. As well I want to use a 1 to 1 ratio or lose the least info, yet it does not seem too have it. It does have, "copy original video stream" is that 1:1...? otherwise it has xvid, divx, mpeg4, wmv...
    4. what is best to put for resolution, it has HD1080, HD720 HD489, and a bunch of others
    1. When I did make a test avi and imported it into Premiere Pro, it does not play properly. The audio runs in realtime and the video skips forward out of sync by about 10x faster. Yet when I play the file in media player, it plays normal. Is this a setting within Premiere Pro, a problem with importing, or the original footage..?
    1. As well, I have some footage with a frigin time code burn window at the bottom, and may want to grab some footage. Is there a way to wide screen the image and cut out the bottom time code, if yes, let me know step by step...

Most pages are defined to be a certain size, regardless of how large or small your monitor is. You can use Firefox's zoom feature (View menu) to enlarge the text and images (or just the text, if you prefer) on a page.
In addition to making individual site adjustments, there are some add-ons that will default every site to a higher zoom level. For example, check out:
    * [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6965/ Default FullZoom Level]
    * [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2592/ NoSquint]
    Does that help?

  • Dv wide screen pal problem

I’m tying to make some titles in live type.
The project settings in fcp are pal wide screen. I’m making an in and out point in the time line and then exporting by going file export QuickTime movie. The movie is a reference file.
I’ve opened live type and tried place or place background movie but this is where it seems to go wrong.
The clip looks like is 4:3 and looks squashed. When I look in the project settings its not the same as final cut.
In the settings I have the following choice for pal
    ccir 601 pal 5:4
    ccir 601 pal sq. 4:3
The project in fcp is pal dv anamorphic. Do I need to change these setting to be correct in live type or do I ignore them?
I’ve tried typing in 720x576 and for pixel aspect ratio 1.46. The canvas changes size but the video clip doesn’t. I have to select the clip and and click stretch to canvas. Is all of this normal or am I doing something wrong?

  • The display doesn't go as wide as our wide screen monitor

Previously we used IE, the display would fill the width of our wide screen monitor, but with Firefox it is only using about half of the monitor. Seems ok with other applications so assuming its a firefox thing?

  • Gnome looks 4:3 on a my wide screen [SOLVED]

    Hello!
I just installed Arch on my small Samsung Q45 notebook (with wide screen), and I'm having this curious problem with Gnome: even though X seems to stard at the correct resolution of 1280x800, Gnome panels do not fill up the full space.
An image is worth a thousand words so here we go:
    http://www.italpro.net/images/gnome-strange.jpg
As you can see, the area at the right or at the bottom is perfectly usable, as I can move icons and windows there. However, the panels don't expand to fill it. This is probably due to a thing you can see in the screen resolution preferences dialog in the upper-right part of the screen: Gnome sees my screen as a 4:3 1024x768!!! Also it shows a weird refresh rate of 30hz.
Besides this problem, I can see everything perfectly well (readable chars, no flickers, perfect colours), so that must be a Gnome-related issue...?
    Thanks,
    Michele.

    Hello!
uastasi wrote:Take a look to your /etc/X11/xorg.conf at Monitor Section and try editing your refresh rate.
    VertRefresh is set to:
    VertRefresh 50.0 - 75.0
which is a setting that doesn't even include the 30.0 that Gnome is showing me in the resolution preferences dialog. Moreover, I see things perfectly well, so I think X is correctly started at 1280x800@60Hz - it's just Gnome that seems to not be understanding that! Anyhow, I tried changing the above line to:
    VertRefresh 60.0
    but nothing really changes.
You can also switch to tty1 and see if it is an issue related to Gnome.
It is: on text terminals, and even with other X window managers, everything works. It's just Gnome (and it's related GDM) which size themselves wrongly.
    Thanks,
    Michele.
