Widen a Standard WEB Dynpro from ESS package

Hi,
Implementation of Employ Self-Service...
The Package is provided of application to deploy in WEB As but the customer will be extend some WEB Dynpro owner ESS Package.
Can I do this?

Do you want to modify the existing ESS to match your requirements.
If so what is the amount of customizations you are looking at. As far as i know if there are many changes i would suggest you will have to make the entire module a custom development.
I dont think it would be advisable to change the standard SAP provided ESS to suit your requirements until SAP allows us to do so to their standard package.

u can specify this for each and every workset for ESS.
u used the Additional Inforamation text under each workset.
to change the text do the following
In SAP R3 ecc system go to SPRO->IMG->cross application components->Homepage framework->Areas->define areas->double click on define areas->double click on area key
(work set)
under area description tab
u can found following
Area Description heading --->Additional Information
Area Description (long text)--->
u can change both text accoriding to ur requirement and specify <b>The disclaimer text</b> .
this is done for all workset. one modificaton is finish.
relese the created request.
restart the j2ee server.

I have got the requirement to provide Web Dynpro application for material creation (transaction code is MM41) and I would prefer to enhance standard Web Dynpro more than develop from scratch. Now I got only the Web dynpro ABAP component for create sales order called "LO_OIF_MAIN_COMP" and GUI HTML for purchasing order that come with business package Eh4.
Anyone who know please kindly help me.

You could just lookup the WD Application in SE80 and then it will show you the component name. From SE80 choose Edit Object from the toolbar. Go to the Web Objects tab in the dialog. Type in the WD Application name and hit enter. You will then see the details of that application.

How can I copy a standard Web Dynpro Abap?

I have to make changes to some texts in a standard web dynpro: FITV_FPM_START. One of the texts is "Description" ("Descripción" in Spanish), which seems to be protected in the OTR. So the only option I see is to copy the whole Web Dynpro, locate the component in which the text appears, and replace it for the new one. If there is a simplest way I'd be glad to know...
I've copied the Web Dynpro and then all the Web Dynpro Applications, with their parameters and so on.
When I verify one of them most of the things are not appearing on the screen. I can only see the buttons. What have I missed to copy?

If you just want to change some OTR text, I do not think that you need to copy the whole application. Just get the alias for this OTR text. (I just tested changing an OTR text from SAP...it did not ask me for any keys...so I hope it will be alright in your case as well....)
To get Alias, go to your webdynpro application, than go to menu "Goto", select "online text repository browser", than double click on the OTR text you want to change the text for. This will open up a new window...the first line is Alias Name.
take this Alias Name....go to transaction SOTR_EDIT
on the screen which shows up, you have following
Language: Pick English here
Text: *
Alias: here put the alias name you found
Concept: leave it blank
click on display.
Now on this screen go to the "EDIT" menu -top of the screen-where you also see system and help menu. Follow the following path:
Edit->Context->Change
As soon as you will click on Change....you will see a pop up coming up with following fields:
Country:
Industry:
close this pop up box without filling out anything there....just click on red x and close this pop up box.
After you close the pop up box you will find that the "Language" field is open for editing....
In this field choose the language you want your Alias to be translated into or leave it as English if you want English..
In the text field...type in your new text....
Save your work...
That is all...no need to do anything else.....
you can check if your Alias is being translated...
go back to transaction SOTR_EDIT...and than choose language and put in the Alias Name
you should see your changed text...
I guess you are copying a FPM application...if that is the case, than you might be missing the configuration for that application...that is why you see things missing there.... try to search in forum for FPM guide....

Calling ERP Web Dynpro from CRM Opptunity with parameters

Hi, experts!
In CRM7.0, I'm calling ERP Web Dynpro from CRM Opptunity.
We've added a button in Opptunities and the buttom can navigate into ERP Web Dynpro.It works fine.
Now, I'm trying to move the value of Opptunity ID to a field in ERP Web Dynpro when we push the buttom. That's a problem I want to solve. We're struggling to move the value, but it doesn't work.
We uses the following settings:
1) We call Z- Logical Links generated by Transaction Launcher when we push the buttom.
2) We define Transaction Parameters in a Transaction Launcher Wizard(Step5). We've set "//clipboardBTOrder/BTOrderHeader/OBJECT_ID" or "//datacontextCURRENTBT/BTOrderHeader/OBJECT_ID".
But both of them doesn't get any value.
3) If you set SYST data or constants in Transaction Launcher Wizard(Step5), you can find the data in ERP Web Dynpro.
Does anyone know which parameter gets the value of current opptunity data?
Or if you have any tips to create URLS using programing, could you please share the information with me?

Customizing the standard web dynpro ABAP travel application

Scenario :
We want to modify the existing travel application------> Create Travel Request should open an interactive adobe form
which will capture all the data and update the backend table , instead of the web dynpro screen and similarly for plan trip .
I wanted to know what is the best practice or approach for this and how to go about it.

Need your valuable inputs on this.Also when I was trying to replace the standard web dynpro abap screen for create travel request...coudnt find the view.I mean on the overview of Trips and Expenses there is a button for Create Request but I am unable to find the view where this button is placed....I think its getting created dynamically.
My concern is how to call my interactive form when the button for create request is clicked...dont know where to place it.

Standard Web Dynpro copy

I have just copied a standard Web Dynpro Abap, just changing the name for ZFITV_FPM_START.
I've noticed some things have not been copied. For example, the web dynpro applications.
So I've created a Web Dynpro Application for ZFITV_FPM_START, and called it ZFITE_EXPENSES, and copied the data in FITE_EXPENSES.
It doesn't appear in the Web Dynpro tree, even after saving it and activating the Web Dynpro. What can the problem be?

Differences between ITS based and web dynpro based ESS

What are the main differences between ( in functionality ) for ITS based and web dynpro based ESS.
I know a few
Underlying technology
ITS ESS had inbox concept, where as web dynpro based ESS/MSS has UWL concept for approvals.
The time statemment in ITS uses smart form while we can use Adobe document services for time statement in ESS 2004.
Funcitonality
There was not collective time approvals option In ITS ESS ( not even in ESS 2004 ) but ther is a collective time apporvals in ESS 2004s
Am not pretty mich intrested in look and feel, or the overview page concept but any additional functionality and a shift in the technology used.

I'm familiar with the modification process of ESS Web Dynpro Java applications using NWDI. ->You dont have to copy and create new application.
-> You can use Enhancement Framework Technology.
-> Look out for Blogs by Thomas Weiss. They are very useful.
-> Easiest way out to create new button would be as :
     -> Put your application in display mode.
     -> There is button for Enhancement in the tool bar (Spiral shaped).
     -> Press that button and create a new enhancement.
    -> Now add any UI Element you want to add.
     -> In Enhancement Framework we do have some Post Exit and Pre Exit Methods.
    -> Some Enhancement Points are already given by Standard SAP.
   -> You can write the logic there and activate the Enhancement.

Please try to avoid modification of WD4As. This is the last resort!
FITE_EXPENSES uses the WD-Component FITV_FPM_START, there it has the Application Configuration "FITE_EXPENSES". The Application COnfiguration is mapped with the Component Configuration "FITV_FPM_EXPENSES" (this is just for your interest how things are mapped here).
Bottom line the Application uses the WD-Component FITE_VC_GENERAL_DATA you can open it via TA SE80 as above poster suggested. Here. navigate to Views and open the View GENERAL_DATA_VIEW. Navigate to Tab METHODS, open Hook-Method WDDOMODIFYVIEW. Here you can make an implicit enhancement at the end of the method and dynamically generate a Button in runtime, this would be a cleaner approach than hard modification of the standard Layout.. I reccomend you to consider this!

Issue while accessing two web-dynpro application, ESS/MSS and Payroll

We are facing one Critical Server Issue in our systems. Following is the scenerio:-
Our Portal system was having one Application known as German Payroll application. Before last two week one more application of ESS/MSS i.e. Time Management has been deployed to our system.
Now the user has two application with two different roles in the portal.
When user try to navigate from Time Management Application to German Payroll application or German Payroll Application to Time Management Application then they are facing Critical Server Error issue.
But once the user try to refresh using CTRL+F5 then the problem got resolved.

here is the catch....When user is trying to navigate from ESS tab(using
custom jcos for Backend system P23) to German payroll(backend system

First try a very simple application with nothing in it just one text saying Hello World
Run it and see what happens.
Also check if your url uses FQDN name. something like https:
company.name.co:50000\.......
If you do not use the FQDN it will always show a script error on the bottom and some functions will not work e.g
dropdowns.

Launch ABAP Web Dynpro from UWL

I have developed an ABAP Web Dynpro application. The application needs to be launched from the UWL. This is not working. I get the message 404 Not found The requested resource does not exist. I think the problem is with the WebDynproNamespace setting in the UWL config file but i am not sure. Anyone have any ideas? Full points to the working answer

Hi,
First you need to import the WD application to your NWDS and then you need to checkout the code for making any changes after making the chanhes you have to checkin the code.
First you need to setup the portal path in
1. WIndow->Preferences->Java Development Infrastructure->development Configurations.
2. You have to create a client in DTR by going into DTR Perspective.
3. Import the configuration from the track (this is your standard WD application) in Development Configurations Perspective.
4. Create the project from Inactive DCs tab.
5. Navigate to WD Perspective and build the project.
6. Check out the code to make chnages
7. Checkin the code after making the changes
8. Test the application in Portal

Passing a parameter to Web Dynpro from an external system

Hi All,
I want to pass a parameter to a Web Dynpro Application from an external browser.
I have developed a simple application with an input "ServiceOrder".
In the Portal I have created an Iview for the Web Dynpro application and have set an Application Parameter (ServiceOrder="000003000012"). Just for testing.
In web Dynpro Controller I have created an attribute in the Context and write tje code below in the wdDoInit.
String SO = WDProtcolAdapter.getProtoclAdapter().getRequestParameter("ServiceOrder");
wdContext.currentContextElement.setServiceOrder(SO);
My problem is that the String SO is empty.
Please help.

I dont think there are any standard components available on Webdynpro Java like ABAP. But, there are quite a few standard Project available on SDN if you want to practise some exercises. Just do a search on SDN you get lot of standard example projects that you download and Import them in to the WebDynpro Java Perspective of NWDS.
