Widescreen HD resolution help please
Hi I have a project I want to render out from Maya but I'm confused what format/settings to render out!
I have both Premier and after effects and the final output is intended for HI Definition widescreen TV on CD/DVD as I want the best possible quality and then another smaller version in both memory and size preferably quicktime format.
Ok so Ive searched the net and I have 2 different sizes resolutions for widescreen 1366 x 768, 1080p and 720 x 480 ..... what should I use?
I'm I correct in saying if I do output in this format can it be played on a regular TV? ... I under stand the quality will bot be as good but my big question is will the images be squashed of stretched?
Squashed of stretched will be the case then what would be the best thing to do ... out put 1 for each ie. one for HDtv widescreen and one for reg tv widescreen?
I have around 10-20% knowledge of both premier and after effect.
I really just need some advice on what codec to use and what resolution

OK... so I open a new project in premier I dont see the setting for 1920x1080.
Under the HDV settings theres the 1080 settings but the frame sizes it give 1440x1080.... it also gives me the same settings in custom setting and it doesnt seem the the frames size can be changed.
any ideas?

ok, i have a problem that needs resolving and any help would be appreciated
i am trying to put together a video that consists of about 40 images (tifs) that are each 3600 pixels X 3600 pixels.the vido also contains a voice over. the images were given to me that size and i imported them into final cut pro that size as well.
i arranged the pics on a sequence with the voice over and exported the sequence as a .mov file. i then brought the file into DVD studio and made a dvd out of it and gave it to the client.
here is where the problem lies...they want to play the dvd on a hd tv and through a hdmi dvd player...it seems the quality and or resolution of the photos is poor and they aren't sharp or crisp, if you know what i mean. i tried
exporting an uncompressed mov file but that resulted in a 23GB file that is not able to be burned onto a standard dvd...i tried exporting it using a HDTV(1080i) frame size and again that made the file too large.
my question is this....how do i get the pics at a high resolution? is it possible to do so with final cut pro? anybody?Unless you have a blueray or hddvd drive, you're stuck with standard def dvd's unless you can connect the output from your computer directly to the screen.
If you can connect the computer directly to the screen, find out what the native resolution of the screen is and create your sequence in fcp with this resolution. Output a qt using compressor with the same resolution and frame rate using the h.264 codec and experiment till you find a satisfactory quality that will play smoothly from the computer. -
HD TV Resolution - Help Please!
I just purchased a 32" Samsung LCD TV as a secondary monitor for my new MacBook Pro (running Leopard 10.5.2). I purchased an HDMI cable to run from my computer to the TV, however when running the resolution on the TV at 1920x1080 images look great but text looks horrible!
Any suggestions as to how I can make the text look more crisp? I have read in some posts on other forums that there are drivers that I can download, or tweaks to the monitor control interface...but can't find any solid leads.

You don't mention the resolution for the 19", but I assume it is less than that of your Macbook Pro, or at least less dense.
Refresh rates for LCDs are fixed, unlike CRT displays which support varying frequencies. As long as it is being properly recognized the the MBP, the rate should be correct. Another quirk of LCDs is that they only display well at their native resolution; they can go lower, but they look much worse when they do. This makes "mirroring" problematic, at best.
Keep in mind that the apparent quality of the display is going to be based on what you can see on the MBP, sitting right beside it. This might actually be the only problem, because the Macbook Pro's display is very, very fine!
What I think you should do is try connecting up to a higher-resolution display at a store. Take your Macbook Pro in when traffic is slow, and the customer reps will probably let you have free reign with the display models. Stick with LCDs, if that's your desire (CRTs still have many benefits, even if they are not normally as large), but go directly to the higher-resolution units. The Cinema displays in an Apple store would be ideal, but you may want to check third-party offerings, too, just to prove to yourself that it is the quality of the display, not the manufacturer, that is the issue here.
Specifically, it is the number of pixels that are packed into a given amount of space (1 square inch, for example). In this regard, Apple's offerings are at the top of the heap, including the display in the MBP. In order to match or exceed what you have built-in, you're going to have to go with higher-end displays. In this, physically bigger is not always better.

please help i started my project with video format 720HD, resolution 12x720, rate 25p. at last when i finish and burn to dvd the edges are cut off and my logo cut off the screeen aswell any one help please i am really in trouble. thanks

I did go to their Web site and I see they have a support link. Perhaps you can get help there or in their forum.
If you are OK with a DVD with a basic menu, you could try the Share>DVD option in FCP.

I need to export a photo at around 1meg file size,and dont seem to be able to do it in the presets can anyone help please ,I shoot on a canon 5d
I believe Frank is referring to the end use (e.g., for print or on-screen use).
Until he returns, I can tell you that I ran a quick test using an image from the Aperture 3 training book library which was as follows:
Camera = Canon EOS 5D Mark II
Master resolution = 5616 x 3744 (21 MP)
I was able to export to a JPEG with end file size of 1 MB as follows:
Export Presets drop-down > select 'Edit' option
Selected preset name 'JPEG - 50% of Original Size' > change percentage value to 40% > change DPI value to '300' > click OK to set as current default > Export version to desktop.
The exported JPEG has a resolution of 2246 x 1498 and appears on screen to have the same image quality of the original in Aperture.
Note - I did not change the default Image Quality slider in the Export Preset dialog (which left it at 10).
Basically, you will need to play around with the settings until you find the appropriate values to arrive at an image version you want. -

I suspect you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1.

Screen Saver and Size of Background - Help, please!
Hello there!
I have a brand new Dell computer from Best Buy. With my last computer (Gateway), I was able to set up an automatic screen saver of a slideshow of pictures if my computer was not used for a certain amount of minutes.
With this new computer, I have set up the same settings, but the screen saver NEVER comes on. I have clicked everything I need to, accepted, and saved the settings, but it never works. Any ideas?
I decided to try and fix it myself, so I went into the Control Panel, Appearance and Personalization, Change Screen Saver, and then went into Power Settings to see if maybe the display wasn't working for this reason. I cannot remember what I did, but now the background picture is HUGE.
To fix this, I have gone into screen resolution and display/power settings, but everything seems to be set to "recommended", so I cannot figure out what happened to make the images so large suddenly.
1) Can you help me get the screen saver slideshow to activate?
2) How do I get my background pictures back to normal size?

Royce*****Wow, so sorry for the hype delayed response. it could be that your laptop was timing out for powersave before the screensaver would kick in. The best thing to do is go into your screen saver, set it to 1 minute and then let it sit for a minute without touching it (with it plugged in). It should kick in. Again, most laptops cut the monitor off after just a few minutes to conserve the power of the battery. I'm glad that the other solution worked for you =)

All my stuffs created and rendered (3d animation and images) are in this resolution format : 854x480
In premiere pro, there is no 480p profil ! strange! why ?.. very disturbing !!
Then i select the avchd 1280p and decided to change the parameters preview to 854x480 and save the profil :

can some one please help me change the font size for incoming emails? some emails are fine others are very small and I cannot change them to read or print?

How are you reading e-mail? in a browser (like Safari) or with a separate mail program like Apple Mail or MS Entourage?
Entourage and Mail have 'larger/smaller" text commands. In either, typing command + or command - will zoom or shrink the text.
The same commands work in the Safari browser.
Much of this comes from people with small-screen devices sending to people with really large screens. I have a friend who asks all his contacts to use a larger font than default when they e-mail him. He has a really cantankerous Windows box that will not let him increase font size in received messages.
If you have a 27-inch iMac the huge amount of screen real estate may make a lot of text hard to read. That's what I have, and I set the desktop resolution to a smaller number to get larger text. My 27-incher defaults to 2560x1440 and everything is small to my old eyes. I changed it to 1920x1080 and lost none of the sharpness but gained a lot in font size.
If you want to try this, go to System Preferences > Displays and make sure the "Displays", not "Color" tab is active. Click the round button next to "Scaled" and you'll be offered a selection of desktop resolutions.

Premiere cs5 Aliasing in footage, any help please?
Hello to you all.
i wonder how many of you have had the problem of footage aliasing in PP CS5.
the problem is that when I import FOOTAGE from my camera into PP cs5, it shows ALIASING at the edges. When I view the same footage on windows media player, the footage is clean and sharp, NO ALIASING. Also I tried importing the same footage in AFTER EFFECTS and again, the footage there is clean and nice, NO ALIASING at the edges. So it must be something wrong in Premiere CS5. !!!!!!! Anyone knows what am I doing wrong please or maybe there is a setting in PP that I`m missing? Graphics card I`m using is the GTX285, with 12 GB ram. Windows version of PP CS5.
Also another problem that is really FRUSTRATING me, is that when I render out from PP cs5, to quicktime with codec MPEG4 or other codec, the result of the render is with MICE TEETH at the edges. I have tried the de-interlacing option, although my footage is PAL and interlaced, but for the sake of the argument, I tried de-interlacing and still the problem is there and can`t solve it. ANY HELP PLEASE !!!!!!! so I dont swallow as many sedatives as i`m swallowing now !!!!!

Thanks for your advice, but play back resolution is FULL and yes I`m exporting interlaced footage. The thing is that when I import the footage
it comes out to show in PP with aliasing. When in After Effects it doesn`t.
I`m not exporting to web.

There are no updates to either OS 10.5.8 or Safari 5.0.6.
If you need a later version of Safari you must first upgrade your operating system to a later version of OS X. -

I have a Bose soundtouch system .Until today I could play my iTunes music through it via air player . .I have just uploaded the latest upgrade from iTunes and now I am unable to connect to the Bose system . @puebloryan, I realize this thread is a bit old, but I have encountered a similr problem and wondered if you had found a solution. I've been using home sharing from itines on my PCs for years, but two days ago, it suddenly stopped. I can share from my Macs, but not from the ONE PC library where I keep all my tunes. I tried all the usual trouble-shooting measures.
After turning home sharing off on the PC's iTunes, turning it back on and turning some other settings off and on, my Macs and Apple TV could briefly "see" the PC library, but as soon as I try to connect -- the wheel spins for a bit and then the connection vanishes. It's as if they try and then give up.
Since this sounds so similar to your problem, I was hoping you finally found a solution. I am also starting a new thread. Thanks! -
My iMac 24 can no longer be paired with the keyboard; it doesn't recognise any keyboard at boot up, even the one it is paired with. Can anyone help, please?
Thank. SimonBrian - The batteries are fine and there has only every been one keyboard paired with it. We have tried my MacPro keyboard as well, and it will not even recognise that there is a discoverable keyboard nearby.

I have PSE 6 for my imac and bought myself a NIKON D60 so far so good. I have installed PSE 6 which comes with ADOBE Bridge CS3
I have bought a book as well as I am new to photoshop and in fact DSLR cameras.
I have got my photos into Bridge OK by the way they are JPEG format. According to the book I can open the JPEG in camera RAW by either selecting the JPEG and then pressing cmd+R or by selecting the JPEG and select open with and camera RAW should be available to selct.
I cannot get of the options to work any ideas please
Secondly I have taken some photos in RAW format and put then into Bridge again I cannot get the camera RAW interface to open with these neff images.
If I try to open the image PSE 6 opens and gives me an error that the file format is not supported by PSE 6
Am I missing something here as I have been trying for a week now !!!!!

Chris UKThere's no "theory" about it. You should be able to open a raw file from bridge by double-clicking it, but it will open in ACR in PSE. You can't just use ACR within bridge in PSE, if that's what you're trying to do. To open a JPEG in ACR, go to file>Open in PSE and choose Camera raw as the format after you select the file but before you click Open.
If you've correctly updated ACR, bridge should show you thumbnails of your raw files. If it doesn't try emptying the Bridge cache.
