Widescreen or fit to screen choice...

HI!
I saw this option in different movie dvd menu and I want to know how to do this...
I want to know how we can put a choice to the viewer to choose between: play it widescreen or fit to screen 4:3... is it a script who tell how play the track..? it probably doesn't have the same track duplicate on the disk with each a display setting different?....
Because I know how to set my track and menu for the appropriate display on TV's like I want...but if we give viewer choice....now i'm lost!!! Because I doesn't see nothing in DVDSP that I can link my 2 buttons (play wide or play 4:3 in this case) to the same track with different display setting.
Hope you understand & can help me on this!
thx!

The thing everyone is...that I perfectly understand all about the 16/9 : 4:3 Letterbox : 4:3 pan scan setting TO DO during my programation of the DVD in DVDSP for the result I want to be displayed on my TV....
My question was more that I saw in a ''hollywood'' dvd : Run from Dick & Jane (Jim Carrey & Thea Léoni) that the user can choose between LETTERBOXED or FULL SCREEN display before start the movie....
So...is a way to create this option in DVDSP, without created 2 different track (one 4:3 letterbox check and the other pan scan) with the same movie in it...
Because that way double the space use on the disc....exept if there's a way to script it or edit it in DVDSP....
Sorry for my french/english taping spelling!!!!

  • Making widescreen movie fit to screen in iDVD 08

    Hello
I'm trying to convert a Xvid movie to DVD using QuickTime Pro, iMovie and iDVD.
converting from Xvid to mpeg4 using QT Pro works and I can import it into iMovie, but
when i burn the DVD the movie isn't resized to fit to screen meaning that there are black bars
at the side of the screen.
How do I tell iDVD to "make the movie fit to screen"?

But how do I make sure that the movie is resize properly to fit the entire width of the screen?
One thing though. I selected letterbox when I made the conversion from QT Pro,
Would this account for the black bars at the sides of the screen?

  • Any way to force a PDF file to be opened in "fit to screen" mode?

Is it possible to force a PDF to open "fit to screen" -- overriding whatever the end user has set as his default viewing preference -- while still allowing said user to zoom in and otherwise modify their viewing mode, AFTER the document has been opened?
In other words, I'd just like to force the initial state on the reader... not limit them to it after the document has been opened.
The reason being that most screens today are widescreen, so when you open a LETTER-format PDF file, most of the time you only see the top half. I'd like to force a document to be seen "fit to screen" so as to see ALL of it when opened... then, the user can do what he/she wants with it (and subsequent pages).
    Thanks.

Hope the information did the job. However, be aware that you might also tick off some users that do not like default settings others like. I would suggest you consider your reason to override the user setting is good before you do it. If you really want a full screen view, maybe a landscape mode might be preferred. In that case, I suspect users would not mind the forcing of a full page.
You can also force full screen viewing, but such is confusing to some folks that don't think of hitting the ESC key to get out.

  • How to Make Video Fit the Screen? (no boxing)

Hi I have finished my video almost now. However when it is played back in WMV it is like in a letterbox in the middle of the screen. I want to upload it to YouTube so it will look quite small on the screen. Is there a way I can expand it to fit the screen better? There seems to be room both laterally and vertically to expand it. I just looked at the DVD box and it says 16:9 - is this widescreen? not sure. I would appreciate any help. Thank you.

hi i am editing a video and in the importing and the sorce box my video fits the screen but in the box that plays what i am editing it fits as a small box in the center with all this extra space around it and when i exported it onto a dvd it just came up as a little video in the middle of the screen. how do i get it to just fit the whole page?

  • Workspace doesn't fit the screen anymore...

    Hello.
Since today (and Mac OS X's update I installed this morning, I guess), my Photoshop CS6 workspace doesn't fit the screen of my 12 inch Cintiq (connected to a 2014 Macbook Air).  No matter what I do, it keeps it wrong.
Trying to set the photoshop window to the whole Cintiq screen with the "green" Mac OS corner button, this is what I get:
Hitting F won't do the trick, this is what it gets me:
I tried to clear the Photoshop prefs, without success.  I checked for updates and found there was a Photoshop update I had not yet installed, and I did install it, to no success.  Needless to say, this makes my copy of Photoshop most unusable, which is a really big problem for an illustrator like me.  I really wish I can solve this as soon as possible.
    Thanks.

Yeah, no results. Still the same.
If I take my main window and move it up by myself, it's just gonna stay there until the next click somewhere, then it gets back to this wrong placement,.

  • How do I make PDFs OPEN and fit my screen?

Every time I open a PDF, the document opens larger than my screen. How do I make the document fit the screen I have?
This is absolutely NOT a zoom problem.
I have a 15 inch laptop. It has a screen that is about 12 inches wide x 7.5 inches high.
I open a PDF, and the document opens on my screen so that the entire document is more like 13 inches wide, and 10 inches high. The top menu bar, where I would grab to move, change zoom, enlarge, or, for that matter, CLOSE the document is like 2-2.5 inches OFF the TOP of my screen.
I can change zoom - it only changes the size of the contents in the window, never the actual window size, and the problem is the window size.
So the question is, why does PDF even open a window larger than my screen supports, and how do I stop it.
This is not new - this should by now be a known serious flaw with Adobe Reader and Acrobat and regularly happens with PDFs, and has for years. If I have a second monitor, I can drag the side of the window over onto my second monitor, and then shrink it. But, if I  am traveling, so without my second monitor, it effectively means the only thing I can do with any PDF is right click on the bottom menu bar and "Close all windows"
Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8.

Try clicking the arrows top right  corner of your Safari window or Control + Command + F on your keyboard.

  • Why can I not get my windows to fit the screen

I am not sure what happened today, but in Safari the window does not fit the screen on my Mac Book Pro, even when you click the green + button. What should I do to rectify. I have done a full Shutdown, and still the same.

One other thing that might be handy:
You can set the default Safari window size as follows.  Open a new window (command-n). Resize.  Close window.  Subsequent windows should open at that same size.

  • How do I make safari menu bar fit my screen

I'm a new Mac user on a MacBook Pro with OS Lion and Safari 5.1.  Something has happened so that my windows do not fit the screen (too large) anymore. I have to manually size them everytime I open a new window or program. Additionally the menu title bar across the top of the screen is too long and I have to scroll to see either end. I've gone to preferences and tried to scale it back to where it used to be using the monitor settings but no luck there.  I've looked for something similar to Windows restore to get my screen back to where it was before.  Any ideas what happened and how I can get my title bar to fit across the top without having to scroll.

Try clicking the arrows top right  corner of your Safari window or Control + Command + F on your keyboard.

  • NEW Macbook Pro anti-glare screen choice

    Hi,
I did not see the NEW Macbook Pro anti-glare screen choice.
Did Apple Stop offering the anti-glare screen option on the NEW 2013 Laptops?
                      THANKS!!  - Randy

If you look at the specifications for the 15" non-retina MBPs, you will note that anti-glare option is available.
    Ciao.

  • "Fit on Screen" doesn't

After upgrading to Photoshop CS5, I find that the "Fit on Screen" command doesn't fit on the visible screen any more in Full Screen Mode with Menu Bar. Instead, the image is centered on the screen, leaving a large open space on the left side and putting the right side of the image well behind palettes docked to the right side of the screen.
I tried changing the Zoom Resizes Window setting, but it has no effect on this misbehavior.
The previous version I had of Photoshop did this correctly, fitting the image so that it would be entirely visible.
    What is the fix?

Here's an example of the problem. Depending on exactly where I place the palettes on the right and whether I dock them or not, Fit on Screen will make the image larger or smaller, but it will always hide the right part of the image behind the palettes.

  • Photos saved to wallpaper are enlarged and don't fit the screen since the new update to iOS 7

Since the new update, when I try to save a new picture to my wallpaper and background, the photo is enlarged and does not fit the screen anymore.  Please fix!!!!

A good point, but you'd better send your feedback directly to apple - hre, in a User-to-User Forum, Apple will probably not see it. Use one of the feedback forms:   http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto_ios.html
I prevent the zooming by editing and cropping the photo to exactly the size I want in the Photos.app. In "Edit" mode I view it in Fulls creen, take a screenshot, and then set the screenshot as wallpaper.

  • E-mail won't fit the screen, anyone help?

    Hey all-
I just "upgraded" (sorry, frustrated with this issue) my Curve to the 9350 and for every e-mail I receive I have to scroll left and right to be able to view the whole e-mail or use the zoom feature on every e-mail to make it fit the screen.
Is there a way to have the Curve do this automatically so that I don't have to scroll four directions but just up and down?  My old Curve didn't have this issue.
    Thanks a ton in advance,
    Brad

    Hi PurdueBrad,
    Welcome to the support community!
Can you please check and tell me what size the font is set to on your BlackBerry Curve 9350 smartphone? You can find this setting in Options > Display > Screen Display. Does changing the font size make any difference in the message display?
I look forward to your response.

  • Make a StringItem fit the screen width

    Hi,
Im using a String Item in a Form and Ive tried to make the Item fit the screen width by using the setPreferredSize(). But if the Text of the String Item is to long, the device still uses a second line to display the end of the text, which I dont want.
This is how I tried to make my String Item be displayed on an unique line.
    iTitleString = new StringItem("title : ","",Item.PLAIN);
    int preferedWidth = this.getWidth();
    iTitleString.setPreferredSize(preferedWidth,-1);
    iTitleString.setText("blablablablablalblablalblalbla");
    Thanks for your help

If you mean that it should fit to the screen width by making the font smaller, then you're out of luck. You can try setting a preferred height to avoid multiple lines, but in a best case scenario it would just mean that not all of the text will be displayed.
