Widescreen or Standard setting???

If I am making a iDVD photo slideshow and I am not sure if the person will watch it on a widescreen TV or regular 32 inch TV which aspect ratio should I use? Widescreen (16:9) or Standard (4:3)? If I select widescreen will it get cut off if they watch it on a regular 27 or 32 inch tube TV (not flat screen)???
Also, what is the best theme to use for just a regular photo slideshow of my photos with music?

It's true that standard def 4/3 if dead but it's good to think of what type of viewing will be done. I recencty created a slideshow presentation that I used a digital projector to project on a large wall space for a 50th anniversary party. It was projecting from a DVD player. I did the project in 4/3 and it projected using the full space instead of a letter box effect which made it have more of a movie viewing feel for my audience of 150 people. They liked it so much that I receive a $100 tip. Also many of my older clients have Large 4/3 TVs and are not very HD knowledgeable so don't plan on upgrading anytime soon. So think in terms of what will make for the best viewing experience for your intended audience.

  • Recording a DVD with LG DVD Recorder and FIOS Standard Set Top Box

I have FIOS Standard Set Top Box, a Sony TV, and an LG DVD Recorder. I cannot figure out how to record a TV program on my LG DVD Recorder. I have 3 remotes: a FIOS Remote, an LG DVD Recorder Remote and a Sony TV Remote. What remote/s should I use, and in what order?  Thanks.

    1) Connect coax (cable) wire from the wall to the RF input on the back of the STB.
    2) Connect coax (cable) from the cable out (might say "to TV/VCR") on the back to the STB to the cable in on the back of the TV.
    3) Connect composite (red, yellow, white) wires from the back of the STB to the input of the DVD player.
    4) Connect composite (red, yellow, white) wires from the back of the DVD player to the back of the TV.
Let me know if any of those aren't possible based on your equipment. The SD STB (QIP 2500) has very few outputs so there are not a lot of options for a setup like this).
In order to record a program, you will have to do the following:
-Set the STB to whatever channel you want to record and keep it on. You will not be able to change the channel, because the DVD player will be recording whatever the STB outputs (the same feed the TV gets). With FiOS, it is not possible to have a DVD do the tuning for you, because it is an all-digital signal and most DVD players can only tune to analog chs 1-99.
-Set the DVD player channel to "input" or something of the like. This will get your DVD player to show the signal from the STB.
-Set your TV channel to composite input. This will show you whatever the DVD player is getting from the STB.
-If you want to watch normal TV without the DVD player, you can turn your TV to Ch. 3 or 4 and get the feed from the STB without having to turn on your DVD player.

  • Dynamically Calling Background Image instead of standard setting

    Hi all,
There is a requirement that, based on some condition I have to display shaded background image, say 'zimage1' .so as a result it should print in all pages. If condition fails, we have to display other image, say 'zimage2' in background. If both fails, no need to display background image.
If any body knew the solution please assist me in this regards.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Nagesh.

Do any one knew how to set Dynamic Background (Watermark) Image instead of going for the standard setting in Page. (by selecting BACKGROUND PictureTab).
I want to pass a variable kind of information to the following fields during runtime.
    ie.,
    Path: Page->Background Picture.
    Name: <Variable image name>
    Object: GRAPHICS
    ID: BMAP
and other properties like Ouput Mode, Position..etc.
That image should come at backgroudn for all the pages.
Hope, you have understood the issue here.
Please do update me with relevnat ideas, if any.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Nagesh.

  • How can I deploy a standardized set of CS6 extensions to all users?

Is there a single file or set of files I can distribute to all users which will give them a standardized set of CS6 extensions?  I have over 100 users using InCopy CS6 and InDesign CS6 and want to make sure they all have the same extension configuration.

Perhaps I should have explained myself more clearly.  I want to be able to define an extension set (with a mix of Adobe and 3rd party extensions) and distribute that set to all of my users - without them having to take any steps to import the set, make it active, etc.  I'd like to be able to just have them log in and have the extension set I have distributed to them.  I've tried exporting a set, distributing it to a test workstation, then importing it via a script (as defined in "Adobe Extension Manager help and tutorials") but the import step doesn't seem to work.  No error, it just doesn't import the set.
So I was wondering - can I package up my extension manager files ("/Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Extension Manager CS6" and "/Users/<username>/Library/Preferences/Adobe.ExMan") and deploy those to users?
I am looking for a solution that will allow me to deliver the extension set I define to over 100 users without user interaction.  Is there a way?

  • Standard set types in Comm_Hierarchy

    Hi
In comm_hierarchy- I am adding a standard set type to a category. The name of the set type is comm_pr_unit. I am unable to sdd this set type because it is not visible in the drop down of standard set types.
However I can see this set type in the comm_attrset.
Please let me know how I can add this set type.
    Regards
    Tarang

    HI,
Settypes cannot be assigned across the Hierarchies.
If your settype is already assigned to one heeirarchy, say R3PRODSTYP, and you are trying to add this settype to another hierarchy say ZHIER, then this is not allowed.
Kindly check if the settype you are trying to use is assigned under another heirarchy!!!
Kindly reward with points in case helpful...

  • Standard Set Types Missing

    Hi,
I have installed a CRM 7.0 System. I have observed that the standard set types starting COMM_* are missing. For example: COMM_PR_SHTEXT is missing. Due to this I am unable to create a service using t-code COMMPR01.
The values do not exist in t-code COMM_ATTRSET as well as in the table COMC_SETTYPE.
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Rinkal

    Hello Rinkal,
I do not think you would be able to see setype COMM_PR_SHTEXT  in txn:COMM_ATTRSET.
But you should be able to see this in table COMC_SETTYPE where FRGTYPE_ID = COMM_PR_SHTEXT.
If this standard settype is missing which is not a normal case, then you can transport this settype from the system
where this exists in your landscape.
    Hope this helps!

  • Customize on standard setting lost after upgrade

    Dear gurus,
I have a question on upgrade. Let's say, now we are using ECC6, we change some standard setting, for eg. activate Sales view for material type ROH (for standard, Sales view is not activated).
Then if later on, we upgrade it to another version, all those customized on standard SAP will lose or it can carry forward to new system?
    Thanks and best regads,
Edited by: HongNguyen on Apr 27, 2011 5:08 PM

    Dear Hong,
Since a upgrade will be carried out on SAP Basic components, inturn it will affect the standard things which are dependent on those basic components. So only during upgrade process it will prompt you wether to modify the changes as per the standard ones or to keep the customised one through SPAU/SPDD adjustments. You should be more carefull during that process since it will be the deciding factor for your customized settings..
    Regards,
    Santhosh.

  • Import Standard set of Bookmarks

I would like to deploy a standard set of bookmarks to users without overwriting their existing bookmarks. I would like this to happen each time the user launches FF to ensure they always have this set of bookmarks. Would using 'browser.places.importbookmarkshtml' be sufficient, or do I have to modify the user.js file for the setting to remain 'true'? Also, how do I specify the location of the bookmarks file?
I should also mention that I currently have the 'browser.bookmarks.autoexporthtml' set to 'true' with a path defined in the 'browser.bookmarks.file' setting.
    Suggestions?
    Thanks.

Sorry, I don't recall seeing this pref - '''browser.places.importbookmarkshtml''' - where have you seen that pref listed or referenced?
''Also, that pref doesn't look "correct", like maybe "browser.places.importBookmarksHtml" being closer to what Mozilla might have used as a pref name.''
    ''As "browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML" rather than "browser.bookmarks.autoexporthtml".''
I wonder if that "browser.places.importbookmarkshtml" is a very old pref?
With a search of the Mozilla Developer Network, this page comes up first.

I don't see direct mention about that pref, but I do see that many features went obsolete as of Gecko 14 (which equates to Firefox 14).
And nothing here either - https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Tech/XPCOM/Reference/Interface/nsINavBookmarksService

  • Save standard set of metadata settings

    Sorry for the easy question.
Is there some way to save a standard set of metadata  (photographer name, copyright status, website, other unchanging stuff) that I could apply to new/old sets of photos?

    Metadata Menu>Edit Metadata Presets.
In the ensuing dialog box, check which items you want to include in your preset and enter the relevant information. When you are done, click Done and you will be prompted with the option to save the settings as a new preset. Enter the name you want, click Create and you are done. You can then apply that preset automatically on import, or retrospectively by selecting images in Library and then in the Metadata pane in the right-hand panel click the two small arrows in the "Preset" box (top entry below the Metadata Pane header)....the list of available presets will drop down, click on the one you want to apply.

  • Using widescreen and standard screen in one project.

I am making a film and just found out that about a quarter of the footage was taken in widescreen while the rest in standard. I would prefer to keep all of the footage in standard. Any ideas on how best to adjust the widescreen footage without distorting its quality?
    Thanks.

If the widescreen footage was shot in standard definition eg on a DV camera set to "widescreen" mode then you will unfortunately lose a little quality. This can't be avoided as you need to blow out the letterbox and crop some of the image to get it back to 4:3. Just drop the widescreen footage into your 4:3 timeline, double click the clip (in the timeline) to load it into the Viewer window, then switch to the Motion tab and set the Scale value to 134%. That will produce whats called a 4:3 Center Cut version of you widescreen clip. For best results you;ll probably want to reframe each of these clips to esure none of the important action is lost through cropping.
If the widescreen footage was shot in high definition eg on an HDV camera, then there should be quality hit perceivable in the SD project (because the HD source already has more than enough pixels to compensate for the rescale ). Just drop the 16:9 footage into the 4:3 timeline as before, but this time increase the Scale to 67% and reframe as needed.

  • Widescreen 16:9 setting

    First..I love my apple tv..
Why are my tv shows shown in 4:3 aspect ratio and my movies in 16:9? I have my settings set to 720 and a widescreen plasma and hdmi input? Am I missing something?
    Any advice?
    Thanks,
    cj

sure it does, i run into this all the time with time warner or comcast set top boxes. technically, your 4:3 tv show is still being ouput at 720p (at least it is upconverted to that format) the same as the movies... unless your box has the option of outputting "native" in which case it does exactly as you describe. if you have an LCD, you are immune from "burn in" in the traditional sense of CRTs and plasmas. you can get a ghosting effect or a temporary burn in that is not permanent, but nothing to worry about. if you have plasma, then yes, you do have to worry about permanent burn, even though newer models have improved over some earlier models.
i can value the cable boxes ability to adjust aspect, and often times i take advantage of it (i am an automation systems programmer for control systems). but in the systems that i program, i have the luxury of communicating with the HD display and setting them to the correct aspect ratios and the end user does not have to think about this. i just note that in instances where consumers do not have the luxury of full automated control, they will more often than not at some point "mess up" the aspect ratios where they are in some twilight zone weird in-between mode. both approaches have their merits. but lets talk about DVD players... they don't have aspect ratio controls, even the progressive players that output 480p... just an aspect ration setup in the settings menu, same with XBOX360 and PS3? (not sure).
some day, this will all be a non-issue once everything has transitioned over to 16:9. on split decisions like this, it is pretty predictable that apple would take the road with less complexity. maybe we will see a more full featured remote as an option in the future for those that want to transcend above the front row experience?

  • ****Standard Set Top Box/Menu Guide Problem****

I have a question concerning the interactive guide for a standard receiver. (Keep this in mind: I have my own DVD recorder and like to record three different shows daily while at work on three different channels with one at 8am, one at 11am. and the other at 1pm. during the day while I am at work). II I know you have reminders as an option but as I understand it, if I am not home to OK that reminder when it pops up, it will not switch to that channel. SO...does the interactive menu on your standard receiver have a function where I can set it up to switch to those three channels/programs everyday while I am away? In other words have an auto-tune? Does the standard receiver have the DVR tab in it's menu on there too and because I don't have a DVR it would just switch to that channel for me (and have options too like start 4 minutes early and end 5 minutes late from scheduled time) like I want and simply not have any DVR device to record to? My cable company has exactly that. The guide thinks it recording to a DVR device when in fact it is n't and gets the job done by switching the channel for me so my own personal DVD recorder gets the correct shows recorded. Please let me know back on this as its very important for me to know. Thanks!

I think the answer to all of your questions is no.
Only way I have heard to do what you want is to have a DVR that can control the STB. Usually done by adding an IR dongle that you put in front of the STB. DVR sneds a signle out and changes the chanel on the STB for you. Just have to remember to leave the STB turned on.

  • Create a standard set of options and answers

    Hi
I have two classes, I call Class 2 from Class 1 and then I can get some data which has been set in Class 2.
I need to set a standard of answers that can be returned, that can be used in all my classes.
    For example
public String getStatus(){return dialogStatus;}I call getStatus from Class 1. It returns something like READY or NULL
To make it easier to maintain, I require a way to create these answers that can be used in all my classes to set a standard.
I am not sure what to even call this type of programming, let alone know where to start.

Sound to me that you could create an answer class all of its own.
This class can then act as a broker for calls to various answering objects. This would give you a single point of access to achieve the standards you want to maintain. However, if the scale of your system is very large, then the responses (or even object instances) may be best held in a database.
However, as the other answerer says.
We are a bit short of information here.

  • MSIPVS - TV standard setting does not remain permanent

I am an VOX USB2.0 TV BOX owner which is bundled with the MSIPVS (WinDVR) software from Intervideo. I have updated to version 3 of the program. However, the problem I face did also exist with MSIPVS V.2 which came with the accompanying CD-ROM. The problem is that the TV Standard keeps changing to SECAM_B every time I terminate the application or start recording a tv program, resulting in black and white tv image. Note that I live in Greece where the TV standard is PAL_B. I have set the Country/Region to Greece in the MSIPVS settings, which remains unchanged even after closing the program. The only setting affected is the TV Standard.
How can I set the TV Standard to be fixed at PAL_B without the need to change it manually every time I start MSIPVS?

Welcome to the club.  There is later software on the MSI site that fixes that problem but introduces a far worse one.  The schedule record function will no longer work.  No point in a PVR if you can't do timed recording.  I went back to the original software and put up with the default to NTSC problem.  I suspect that MSI has lost interest in this product long ago..  This is the second MSI product that I have bought and is a bit of a dog and most likely will be my last..
