Widget Foundation: URL for Web Start installation seems to be invalid

Hi,
the URL from the Widget Foundation installation document for the JAVA Web Start installation (http://nvpal168.pal.sap.corp:1080/wfws/foundationWS.jnlp)
can not be resolved. Is the server actually running ? Maybe it is a wrong URL ?
Any help is appreciated
Marcus

Hi Marcus,
Though I have no idea of the internal site, I'll help you install the SAP Widget Foundation on your system.
1) Pls download the Widget Foundation from the downloads section on SDN : https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/webcontent/uuid/d026c9ae-ab33-2a10-70be-dafcd3fc9a82 [original link is broken] [original link is broken].
2) Make sure you have Java 1.6 and above installed on your machine.
3) Extract the Zip file that you downloaded in Step 1. You will find a <b>SAPWidgetFoundation.jar</b> file in it.
4) On the command prompt type <b>java -jar SAPWidgetFoundation.jar</b> and the installer will launch.
Have fun !

  • Invalid URL for Web Content Overlay, ERROR!!!!!!

    Hello All,
I'm hoping someone can help me with this error, I was working on my indesign file and was testing it out locally, then I went on to upload my file and I got prompt to install a new version of the Folio panel which I did, now every time I try to upload my file I get this "ERROR: Invalid URL for Web Content Overlay", I've searched around and have not come up with an answer. Not sure if its a bug on the new update or what. I tried some troubleshooting which this is what i did. I copied my first page of my document onto a different file and tried to upload one page and then i got the error but then I deleted the images and just left one text box and it uploaded my file without any issues, strange huh. Any ideas????

I was having the same problem with both hyperlinks and buttons in one particular file -- "Invalid URL for Web Content Overlay." It seems to only be a problem in files where I had a link or button previously, and then deleted the object. When I create a new object and create a link or button, it's as though the old link is still lingering somewhere in the file! However, none of the old links is listed in the hyperlinks panel before I create a new one.
This occurred while I was teaching a DPS class, using the Adobe courseware (sight unseen by any proofreader, I believe). In one of the exercise files, the steps for the student to create hyperlinks and buttons had already been done, so I deleted the hyperlinks. (I think I deleted the text frames that contained them, but I'm not sure.) I never had a problem with it UNTIL I downloaded the Overlay Creator/Folio Builder dated June 19 (v21, I think).
In the same file, I also had problems with a NAVTO link, . I don't think there were any NAVTO links in any earlier version of the file, at least none that I ever created or deleted.
I've coded HTML since the days when the only available tool was Notepad, so I'm sure that I used correct URLs (and none redirected). Even the URLs in the deleted objects were correct; I only deleted them so the exercise could be done again.

  • Why am I getting the flag Invalid URL for web content overlay when making scrolling panel in Indesig

Why am I getting the flag 'Invalid URL for web content overlay" when making scrolling panel in Indesign? Iam making additions to existing articles but the problem is new. The articles were originally made using CS and now I am on CC, which I have just uninstalled and re installed, no difference, can anyone help please? Steve

Hi Bob, thankyou very much for coming back on this. The flag is coming up towards the end of the preview process on desk top. I have made dozens if not hundreds on my two published apps on the app store, but have not done an update for nearly a year, in which time I have needed a refresher, and as usual went to Lynda. In this case I have followed to the letter your DPS course, which is great, and I found the process of making the scrolling panels somewhat easier than when I started 2-3years ago. Initially I was mystified that the flag talked about url and web content, but just put it down to something I had missed in recent improvements in CC.
I tried over and over, but always got the same result. I thought at one point it might be because the content of my slide was copy and photo, so for a test I deleted the photo. Same result, and many of my existing slides are copy and picture.
I also uninstalled Indesign CC and reinstalled in case of corrupted content, I also copied to IDML and relaunch, same problem. I am sure I have made the scrolling content as instructed, The one thing I havn't done is trash my preferences, if you think that would be a good Idea could you please direct me to some content at Lynda on how to do it in CC. Many thanks, Steve

  • MP4 Video throwing error: Invalid URL for Web Content Overlay

Converted a 15 second flv video to the following using Handbrake:
    mp4
    H.264 codec
"Placed" mp4 file into my article
Set Autoplay= On and 0.125s delay
Try to preview via InDesign a get the error: Invalid URL for Web Content Overlay
Try to update my article via Folio Builder and I get the same error.

It seems that you "placed" your video into the frame selected as Web Content in Folio Overlays Panel.
    Delete that frame.
Place (in the normal InDesign way, not"place") your mp4 file onto the page.
Adjust the size of the frame to your video measurements.
Look at the Folio Overlays Panel. Your placed file should appear ther as Video Overlay.
Set your options and you are done.

  • Short of dismantling and recreating a page how do i find out whats causing [Error: Invalid URL for Web Content Overlay]

    Hi,
i received an indesign file to include in a folio that had links to the creators desktop where they had the assets for the web content overlay. When i try to update the folio i get the error message:
    "Content generation error.
[Error: Invalid URL for Web Content Overlay]"
    Which is fair enough.
The problem is, i have gone through and changed all URLs that I can see, but there is one somewhere, that I just can't find.
Is there a way to get a list of all web content overlays in a particular file? otherwise i will need to recreate the whole page again, and it has some pretty complex interactions which i rather wouldn't do.
I also cannot ask the original doc creator to just change the links as i'm sure he'll have the same issues as me, at not being able to track down the erroneous link.
The problem I have with DPS is that its not very transparent. you'll have to click on everything, and into every group to see what actions are on it, which can be extremely time consuming and frustrating when complex interactions are included.
thanks in advance for any assistance

  • Invalid URL for Web Content Overlay. Help?

I am doing a french tranlation to an existing folio app that someone else created.
There is one page in my folio that is comprised of garbage and a trash can. You touch the garbage and drag it into the trash, and things change, etc.
I have an index.html file and a bunch of other images.
I can't even successfully add the article to my folio, I get this warning: Content Generator Error. Invalid URL for Web Content Overlay.
Can you walk me through how to get this to work?
Attached is a screen shot of my file structure...

When you specify the .html file, all the content in that folder is uploaded automatically. Here's an article about Web Content overlays:

  • A few questions about signing JARs for Web start

I'm still a bit new to all this, so just want to clear a few things up.
I'm currently trying to publish an application using Web start, so i know I have to sign all the JARs, as it needs to do some writing to the hard drive.
    1. I have my main JAR file, and then two "third party" JAR files in the /lib subfolder, I take it I need to sign those two as well, does it matter that I don't have the .class file for those two, as I didn't write them?
    2. I'm running the JARSIGNER program with exactly the same command line apart from the filename of the .jar file, is that correct? or do I need a different certificate for each .jar file?
Just can't seem to get all three signed, Web start says one different one isn't signed each time I try it out.
    3. When signing, does it add something to the end of the JAR file itself? as I can't see any extra files created.

Signing adds entries in the mainifest, not in the main file list in the jar file.
You can sign third party jar files, but it is not advisable. An alternative is to put third party jars in a seperate extension jnlp file, if they need all-permissions, you can get the third party jars already signed by whoever supplied them. If not, you do not need to request all-permissions in the extension jnlp file, and that part of the code will be run in the secure sandbox.

  • Inconsistent cache location for web start

I have a requirement whereby we are going to use a CD to let the client pre-deploy some of our application jars in the web start cache so that when they access our application online, there is 0 wait time for them.
Fortunately we are supporting only JRE 1.4.2_x and above. After much experimentation with install/un-installing the JRE versions and acessing Sun's web start demos I realized that the java web start
application cache location is different for diferent versions of JRE and Operating systems.
After digging up the JRE 1.4.2_x code found that Sun uses $USER_HOME/Sun/Java/Deployment
/javaws/cache. This seems to be the case on Windows 2000. I tried JRE 1.5 on XP and it stores
it in $USER_HOME/Sun/Java/Deployment/cache/javaws. ( by default) Also the property in deployment.properties file is different
    for 1.4.2 it is deployment.javaws.cache.dir
and for JRE 1.5 on xp it is deployment.user.cachedir.
This is making it impossible to write a generic install script for the CD.
Is there a definitive way to know what the cache location is for a given install of the JRE.

    first :
version 1.5 also uses the property $deployment.javaws.cache.dir as an override for the property $deployment.user.cachedir/javaws
second, version 1.5 implements a cd install feature, using the "-import" and "-codebase" args.

  • Substitution strings not working in URLs for web service references (bug?)

We have an environment where the url for our BPEL server is read from a variable. I've created an application item and a corresponding application-level computation. I'm using the ampersand-followed-by-dot (&BPEL_SERVER.) syntax as well as the hashmark syntax (#BPEL_SERVER#) and am unable to get this working.
Is there a way for me to debug web service reference calls other than whether a call was successful? Is this a bug?
    edit:
Here is the error message I get when I try to use a substitution:
ORA-20001: The webservice was unreachable because either the URL you supplied was invalid, your environment requires a valid proxy server address for HTTP requests, or a wallet needs to be configured for HTTPS requests.

No problem - let me try to lay this out a little differently, perhaps I'm just missing something.
    problem:
    * we have separate development, test, and production servers for our database and bpel servers.
    * The hostnames for these servers are stored in a table of key/value pairs
    * This means that (by policy) the hostnames in URLs calling BPEL web services should be the value corresponding to BPEL_SERVER so that the appropriate bpel server is used to call the web service
    attempted solution:
    1) I created an application item named BPEL_SERVER
    2) I have a before-header computation that sets BPEL_SERVER to 'http://bpeldev' using a static value assignment
    3) I have a web service reference whose URL is either &BPEL_SERVER./orabpel/default/callNotification/1.0 or #BPEL_SERVER#/orabpel/default/callNotification/1.0
    4) The web service reference is called in an after-submit process.
    5) An invalid URL exception is thrown for this process.when submitting on the page containing this process
    observations:
    * for (3) - I can set the URL to http://bpeldev/orabpel/default/callNotification/1.0 and everything occurs successfully
    * for (3) - If I use http://bpeldev/&BPEL_SERVER. then when I execute (4), I see a request for the exact string http://bpeldev/&BPEL_SERVER. in bpeldev's access logs
    * for (3) - If I use http://bpeldev/#BPEL_SERVER# then when I execute (4), I see a request for the exact string http://bpeldev/#BPEL_SERVER# in bpeldev's access logs
    * for (2) I've also used a function call RETURN get_const_value('BPEL_SERVER'); - same results for (5)
    * the item value has ben verified before (5)
    * for (1) and (2) I've tried defining substitution strings in the application definition instead - same results for (5)

  • What is the URL for Nightly Start Page i want to use that in my Open a new tab?

How can i find the URL for the new Nightly start page as i want to use it in the new tab so it is the same as the home page . i use the nightly start page as home page too

hello caseyvan, "about:home" is the url for the default firefox/nightly start page. you can set that as a new tab page when you can enter '''about:config''' into the firefox location bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) and search for the preference named '''browser.newtab.url'''. double-click the entry & change it to any site you want to show up on a new tab.

  • Get HTTPS URL for Web dynpro application

We are using SSL. By default the URL generated for the Web dynpro application is HTTP.
We went to SICF, and deactivated the HTTP service. That made the URL point to HTTPS.
But few problems started coming because of it:
    - Our Content server became inaccessible.
    - Every time server is re-started, we need to manually go and de-activate HTTP Service.
We even tried to set the parameter icm/icm/HTTP/redirect_0. But problem is not solved.
I know this question is asked before, but every time the answer is to read the help document on ICM.
What's the correct way for any webdynpro application to point to HTTPS? I don't think de-activating HTTP service is the right way.
    Any suggestions please?
    Thanks in adv.

Thanks a lot Thomas. I'd ask the Portal Admin to try it out.
There is another similar problem we are facing: I have embedded Webdynpro in R/3 screen. Then used the cl_gui_wdr_viewer class's load_application method passing HTTPS protocol.
It returns HTTPS URL only, but is not showing up on users' laptops.
Earlier we were not passing HTTPS protocol, so generated URL was HTTP, and it was not showing on users' screen (can show in ours). Reason we found out is that users' site has HTTP port blocked. They cannot show any HTTP url.
So we changed to get HTTPS URL, but that also gives the same problem. It is still trying to get HTTP url.
Here is the URL that the users got: (when they right click to see the URL generated)
    res://ieframe.dll/dnserrordiagoff_webOC.htm#http://abc.def.jil:8000/sap/public/myssocntl?sap-client=220
Can give any clues on why this is going wrong? Cannot raise OSS as I know embedding Webdynpro in R/3 is not supported
    Thanks in adv.

  • Invalid Url for Web Content Overlay

I am constantly getting this error when I try to upload a page with a web content overlay -- i even get thi smessage if i try to upload http://google.com.
    sg

This link is likely being redirected, and redirects aren't allowed in Web Content overlays. For example, http://www.google.com will work, but http://google.com won't. Check the URL on a mobile device. A lot of sites get redirected to the mobile version:  http://twitter.com becomes http://mobile.twitter.com.

I just got my AppleTV this weekend. I updated the software to 1.1. However, it will sing all my songs which I have ripped from my cds but it will not sync any content (music videos/music) which I have purchased from iTunes. I tried manually adjusting
