Widget not playing in PDF

Hello,
I'm using Captive 7.0.1.237 and when I publish my project as a PDF, the Wed Objects Interactive does not display the website. Does anyone know a fix for this?
Thanks!
Lindsay

When you're printing to PDF, do you have the "Generate Acrobat Data" option enabled?
FWIW, you should be using the Save As PDF option with FM11. It works quite well nowadays. Just ensure that the AdobePDF printer instance is your default when working with FM. The SetPrint utility from Sundorne ( http://www.sundorne.com/FrameMaker/Freeware/setPrint.htm ) is quite handy for this.

  • Why does my html widget not play sound in ibooks?

I've designed a widget that plays sound correctly in every other browser. It uses an AAC-MPEG4 with the .m4a file extension on all of the sounds. I know the code is working correctly because as I said, it works in any browser. I've checked to volume controls and speakers of the ipad, they work and are turned all the way up. I just wonder if ibooks somehow does not support the javascript .play() command...

Now THIS worked!   First the message displayed, and when I viewed the page
source, the code that you suggested earlier appeared.
Now, why can't I get this when I enter the code directly?
    L.
This proves what I believed and that is you are not naming the file correctly.  It has got a hidden file extension and if you were using Windows, I would have told you how to reveal the file names properly including hidden extensions of known file names.  I know nothing about MACs so you have yto wait until Murray Summers or John Waller comes here.  They know about Apple MACs and they have been in the business longer than anybody here.
In windows, if we want Notepad to keep the names as it is we normally name the file as:
"welcome.html"       including the quotes so that Notepad will know that it is not the normal text file to be opened in notepad or wordpad (TWO text editors in Windows)
Perhaps you should use my file as a template and then change the text to:
<p>The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.  The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.  The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.  The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.  The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.</p>
    Hope this helps.

  • Video clips do not play in PDF document, why?

What is the point of being able to import video clips (SWF, AVI, WMV, OLE object, etc) into FrameMaker 8 if you can not run them in the PDF? I still have to manually embed the clips in Acrobat. Am I missing something here or is this only function for FrameMaker to keep the placeholder for the clip when you have to insert it after the PDF is created?

I found the problem with the software. You can not use Acrobat Professional 7.0 with FrameMaker 8.0 or you will not be able to properly Distil the PDF and the video will only be an image of the first frame. You are not able to install the Distiller 8.0 add-on that comes with FrameMaker 8.0 with the Acrobat Professional 7.0 installed. The console error received when creating the PDF is:
"Save as PDF failed to post-process the PDF file for Flash Data: errors were encountered in the PDF file.
The PDF file should be intact and usable but may not reflow properly. Check that the destination PDF file is not in use or its permissions, then Save as PDF again. If the problem persists, please contact Adobe Technical Support."
The fix is to remove Acrobat Professional 7.0 permanently and install the FrameMaker add-on or to upgrade to Professional 8.0

  • Embedded Youtube video is not playing in PDF while it is playing in Adobe Content Viewer - Indesign CC

    Hi,
as a newby to DPS with Indesign CC, I'm currently working on a catalog that contains internal jumlinks and embedded youtube video's.
All works fine in preview (Folio Overlay > Preview on desktop).
Then I export to Adobe PDF (Interactive).
When I open the PDF the internal links work just fint.
But the Youtube video is not popping up.
    To embed the video I've inserted this code: <iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/6EXxtnTOnqA?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" ></iframe>
And I've selected 'autoplay' in the Folio Overlays
So what am I missing here?
    Thanks for you help,
    Dimitri

    Hi Bob,
Like I said I'm a Newby, I even don't really understand what you mean with this.
I'm working in de Digital Publishing toolset (I thought that was DPS).
I use Folio Overlays over the embedded youtube code, with autoplay on.
Than I export to PDF interactive, but neither Adobe reader, nor Preview is showing the vid.

  • SWF not playing in PDF

    Hello ,
    I am using FM11 with Windows 7.
When I import a SWF in to Framemaker, it plays fine.
When I print to PDF, the SWF just appears as an image.
This is true if I Import By Reference or Copy Into Document.  The Embeded Adobe Flash files in PDF preference is checked.
    Any ideas?

  • Spry accordion widget not playing nicely with IE7

    Good day.
The answer to this issue may be on this forum somewhere already, but I cannot take the time to scour the several hundreds of posts.
I've build and customized my first spry accordion, which can be viewed at http://www.brianfisherart.com/Bio/Contact/
In Firefox and Safari, it works perfectly! IE7 however has some issues. the panels get too large on mouseovers, and jumpy and even larger when opening lower level panels.
Just hoping to find a quick fix.
    Thanx in advance.

I'm certainly not going to do your search for you, but you might want to see if using the current version 1.6.1 works better.
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/
If that doesn't work, you might want to go to the Spry forum.
Of course, now that you've posted, I wonder if any of the links in that "More Like This" box apply?

  • How to play the pdf embedded video on firefox

I embed video into pdf quite often, if I want everyone with Acrobat reader version earlier than 9 (6,7,8) can open it, I have to chose "Create legacy multimedia content..." when I embed the video. The problem is, when I make the pdf with Mac, usually I use mp4 video, but a lot of PC's can not open it because they don't have the codec (they have to install it first); but if I embed it with wmv, Mac users can not open it. Also the latest Firefox browser doesn't have the plug-ins for the new pdf, thus can not play the embedded video. Anyone can help? Many thanks...

    Hi Philips,
Thanks for your input, but that's not the problem. I've got Flip4Mac  already installed, and I have quicktime pro, so no problem for my intel  based Mac running WMV under quicktime.
The problem is, I can not play the PDF embedded video WITHIN FIREFOX /  SAFARI browser. Just found out that they only have plug-ins for viewing  pdf files, not with embedded video.
    Thanks anyway.
Adobe has not had a PDFPlugin for Mozilla Products Since OS 9. I have put in a bug about it at least once every year.
There is a PDF Browser Plugin by Shubert of Germany, that will view PDF's. Now Safari will work with the Acrobat PDFViewer Plugin and any other Browsers using Webkit including iCab. You can set SeaMonkey FireFox, Camino,  to use the Adobe Reader or even Acrobat rather than a plugin.
It's sad and funny at the same time. Adobe until Acrobat came out was just a Font provider. And Adobe got started with other products on the Mac, because mac users were a little more bold and daring and would try out new technology. Acrobat on PC (Widows/DOS) wasn't accepted for another two years. Then when then got a foot in the door in the Windows world, they all but abandoned the Mac Platform.
They refuse to fix crash and performance issues on Mac for Flash. One reason why Jobs has took the stance he has about Flash on the iPad/iPhone.
But they are not the only ones. Intuit (Quicken) got started on Mac first. Then when they got toe hold in PC world they have been shafting Mac Users every since.

  • Embedded Quicktime not playing correctly in InDesign PDF - please help!!

ok - I have an issue that I can't work out and I'm hoping someone can help - tried searching for an answer to no avail. I've just built my first interactive PDF portfolio in InDesign. I should point out that I'm a producer/editor, so my knowledge of InDesign & Acrobat is not extensive. The PDF includes some embedded Quicktime movies. The movies play normally on one of my monitors (Samsung 1680x1050), but will not play correctly on my other two monitors (2x Samsung 1280x1024) - the audio plays and the play controller appears to be working but the video area is just all white...HOWEVER...if I open the PDF and play just one of the videos on my 1680x1050 monitor first, then all videos play correctly on all monitors. Have tried opening the PDF on another desktop and the movies do not work (in the same manner as above)- also tried on my laptop and the movies play correctly. Please help if you can - I need to get this out to clients and I'm baffled!! Thank You!

Is it as easy as wmode: transparent after shoving the swf into a table??? does the transparent option make everything outside the table dissappear? thanks...

  • Why video does not play when embedded in a PDF when viewed in Windows 8?

I have a situation where video must be embedded within the PDF document and it was working for us using older versions of IE and on 32 bit machines and using acrobat X. When the same file was tested on Windows 8 it looks good and behaves well except the embedded video does not play. The same video (.mp4) will play on the new OS if it is not embedded in the PDF.
Is this because the PDF is looking for a 32 bit flash player? Am I doing something wrong and/or is there a fix for this situation?

Are you watching the pdf file from Adobe Reader?
Windows 8 by default has a diferent reader for pdf files that does not support rich media elements.

  • Embedded swf in pdf does autoplay in IE(9), does not play in Firefox and Chrome.

I created a pdf with swf embedded. Set it to autoplay.
    Does play fine in IE9.
In Firefox and Chrome video shows up (initial picture) with a play button.
Will not play, not auto nor when I click the play button.
Firefox and Chrome I just downloaded, so the newest versions.
    Windows 7 professional.

    Found the solution for Firefox.
    In firefox, goto tools/options.
Look for Portable Document Format (PDF).
Select it and in drop down choose Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox) instead of Use Firefox (Default)
Thanks but no thanks, Acrobat team.

  • Slideshow not playing as a PDF

In the last version of Lightroom, I could export a pdf slideshow and it would actually play when the PDF was opened. No music but it did play. Now I do not know if it is a PDF issue or a Lightroom issues, but my slideshows have to be arrowed through, they do not play on there own.
    Any suggestions?

I'm experiencing the same issue. Plays fine in lightroom 3, but no
    sound in pdf.

  • Streaming video link to play inside PDF

I'm not having any success placing a .mp4 streaming video link in Acrobat Pro X that will play inside (not embedded) the PDF. My client has provided me with a couple of links, and the video tool field accepts it, but nothing plays. I can download and embed the actual file from my desktop fine. Being a long time print designer, this is my first attempt to create an ebook with video from an existing print project - so i have limited understanding of formats, server behavior, and such. Can anyone help me?

Thank you for the quick response.  I misunderstood.  I was thinking that by using the widget and an H2.64 video for iPad (mp4) that together it was creating streaming video in a PDF that is not converted to Flash or swf, which as pointed out is not compatible with iPad. So, the pupose of the widget is that it allows streaming of video (e.g. mp4) for a PDF viewed on a computer vs. embedding the actual video in the PDF?  ..and it still converts the video to Flash?
My goal is to have an iPad workbook of sorts w/ a video player that is streaming the video vs embedding it.
    -  PDF seems to be out unless I want to link it and have the video open in a browser.
    -  I tried creating an epub using InDesign, which allowed me to embed the mp4 and played on the iPad fine in iBooks, but it makes the epub file large and I'd rather stream the video.
    - When using the "place a video from url option" in InDesign, the epub will not play the video in iBooks and only shows the poster image.
Do you have any recommendations or even other Adobe tools that will help accomplish my goal?
    thanks!
