Widget Pro

We use a programme called Widget Pro to convert and transfer the meta data from our recorder into spreadsheet form. The problem is that this only runs on Windows 9.x 2000 and XP. Do you think there would be a way of using this on a MAC with Windows installed? We currently have OSX 10.4.something. Do we just buy a regular copy of Win Xp and install it or is there a specific one for Intel Macs? Can you even still get Win XP for MAC? Do we need Bootcamp to run Windows or is that so that you can toggle between OS and Windows? Also any ideas how easy this is to do or how much it may cost?
Any prompt answers would be greatly appreciated as we need to resolve this issue as soon as possible.
Many thanks
Lloyd Dudley

Hi, mountainbike8.
You wrote: "Any thoughts would be appreacaited."Report the problem you experienced to the author of the widget.
As you stated it is a "beta" release, which means that the developer knows all the bugs are not yet worked out. When you install "beta" code, you're playing Test Pilot.
Then reinstall the previous version and wait for the "beta" to be removed from version 3.0.
Good luck!

  • AA3 can't read BWF from Reaper -Looks like a bug to me

wav files made in Reaper (ver 3.11) can have the bext BWF timestamp.
These files read just fine in AA (v1.5, ), Sound devices Wave Agent, Widget Pro, SSL ProConvert, Nuendo, Samplitude & Reaper itself. AA3 sees them as being BWF files & there is some impenetrable code in the UMID but otherwise all bext metadata gone.
If I open a file in AA 1.5 & save, AA3 can read the bext info.

BTW forgot to mention. If the Reaper files are imported straight into the MT page (AA3) using timestamp position they get positioned as per bext timecode. But as I say no metadata to be seen in EV. And if I save the files (save extra info ON) the bext metadata gets trashed.

  • Battery Saver Apps---Suggestions Welcomed!

I've taken the plunge and purchased a new Samsung GNex. I want to start out right and monitor my battery usage on this new phone. My question for the community: What is the best battery saver/task killer app in the Market that won't crap my phone out and put me back into a tailspin like with my Samsung CRAPinate; I mean Fascinate! (tee hee!) I've looked at the Easy Battery Saver+Task Killer, Battery Monitor Widget Pro and the Battery Dr Saver plus task killer. I'm reeling over the unending list of claimed "this app saved my life" reviews.
So, has anyone had good luck or bad luck with these types of applications?

    cstephens wrote:
Those are great suggestions. Most of which I currently do. The only ones I cannot control are my emails. My Yahoo and Gmail do not allow me to manually set the sync option to 30 minutes to an hour. These apps are apparently coded to auto push emails. I can control my corporate email to sync at a designated time, but that's too important to set it to sync every 30 minutes to an hour. I need my corporate mail as soon as it hits the server since I'm not always in front of my laptop to read emails. Can the auto push be overriden in the Gmail and Yahoo accounts?
Gmail uses PUSH technology, so it doesn't use any more radio than the phone normally would. Do you use the Yahoo Mail app or use the stock email app on the Nexus? If you use the stock app, in the settings for your account, there is a place to set the amount of time from Never to every hour. To get there, go to Menu->Settings->Account(email name) Inbox check frequency.  If you use the Yahoo mail app, then you will need to look through the settings to see where to change the check for new messages frequency.
What do you use for your Corporate Email? Does your company use Microsoft Exchange or another email system?
If the email is important, you want to leave the PUSH enabled (unless you get tons of spam). That way you only use the radio for email when an email actually comes in. My company uses Exchange, and the app that we use is Touchdown, set for PUSH. Sometimes I get 10 emails in an hour, and sometimes I get no emails in 10 hours.
Another way I save on battery, is that I have a power supply at home, at my desk at work, and in my car. That way, I always have power available to me (unless I am in meetings or in my wifes car) I never run out of battery power

  • IStat Pro widget shows gradual increase in RAM usage

I have the iStat Pro widget on my dashboard. every time i open up the dashboard, it shows that i have less and less RAM free, which obviously worries me, since whenever I open up dashboard i am idle; im not doing anything besides reading a webpage, or just charging my iPod. I would understand if there is less RAM while i am working with my pictures, but it does worry me. Please help, anyone that can, I greatly appreciate the help :-)!

Any running process on the Mac may consume more RAM over time. Safari and other browsers especially will use more RAM over time. However, free RAM is misleading as an indicator of whether you're running out of memory. Available RAM is the sum of Free RAM and Inactive RAM. Although you may notice that Free RAM may decrease over time, you still have plenty of available RAM when you include Inactive RAM. See the following:
About OS X Memory Management and Usage
Reading system memory usage in Activity Monitor
Memory Management in Mac OS X
Performance Guidelines- Memory Management in Mac OS X
A detailed look at memory usage in OS X
Understanding top output in the Terminal
The amount of available RAM for applications is the sum of Free RAM and Inactive RAM. This will change as applications are opened and closed or change from active to inactive status. The Swap figure represents an estimate of the total amount of swap space required for VM if used, but does not necessarily indicate the actual size of the existing swap file. If you are really in need of more RAM that would be indicated by how frequently the system uses VM. If you open the Terminal and run the top command at the prompt you will find information reported on Pageins () and Pageouts (). Pageouts () is the important figure. If the value in the parentheses is 0 (zero) then OS X is not making instantaneous use of VM which means you have adequate physical RAM for the system with the applications you have loaded. If the figure in parentheses is running positive and your hard drive is constantly being used (thrashing) then you need more physical RAM.

  • HT2513 I have a Macbook pro and I've lost my ical and widget icons. It says it's in the trash but I can't find it.

I have a Macbook pro and I've lost my ical and widget icons. It says it's in the trash but I can't find it.

    Hey Shady K,
It sounds like you've removed the iCal and Widget icons from your dock and want to get the back there for easy access. The following document goes over dock basics and there's a section (which I copied below) that goes over how to get those icons back on to the dock. Essentially you'll just find the application's icon in your applications folder and drag it back.
    Mac Basics: The Dock
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2474
    Adding and removing Dock items
If you want to add an application to the Dock, click the Launchpad icon in the Dock and drag the application icon to the Dock; the icons in the Dock will move aside to make room for the new one. If you want to add a file or folder to the Dock, just drag its icon from any Finder window (or the desktop) and drop it on the Dock. The resulting icon that appears in the Dock is actually an alias of the original item (it's kind of a pointer to your original item). If you drag an application or file onto the Dock, you'll be able to open it anytime by simply clicking its docked icon. If you drag a folder onto the Dock, a Finder window of the folder's contents will display when you click the folder icon in the Dock.
To remove an item from the Dock, drag its icon an inch or more off the Dock and wait a couple seconds, then release; the icon will disappear in a poof of smoke. There are some icons that you can't remove from the Dock, such as the Trash and the Finder.
Don't worry, you aren't permanently removing the item from your computer; you simply got rid of its Dock icon. If you want that item back in the Dock, locate the application, file, or folder in the Finder (or with Spotlight), and drag it back into the Dock.
    Hope that helps,
    David

  • MacBook Pro - Widget problem - Help!

When I set up my new MacBook pro I used the "Migration Assistant" to transfer the information from my PowerBook to my new MacBook. In doing so it appears to have grabbed the default Widgets from my PowerBook and replaced the ones that came preinstalled on my MacBook. Problem is a couple of the default widgets that I use almost daily “Business” (e.g. Yellow pages), and “People” (white pages) aren’t working. Properly. As soon as the dashboard appears these two widgets both have a “lego” type box with a question mark in the middle. Is this because they were coded for the PowerPC equipped PowerBook as opposed to the "universal" MacBook Pro?
I've searched everywhere on Apple.com's Widget page, but I can't seem to find these two widgets so that I can reinstall them. To avoid having to resintall the entire OS for the sake of 2 Widgets, can someone who owns an Intel based Mac please post me a download link where I can download them so that I can reinstall those two widgets?

If you need the widgets that were originally included with your Intel Mac simply download the shareware utility Pacifist 2.0 (www.versiontracker.com or www.macupdate.com) and use it to extract copies from the file archives on your OS X Installer DVD.
As for third-party widgets you can try locating them at various sites including those referenced above as well as at Apple's software and OS X support sites.
Widgets are neither universal nor PPC compiled applications.
Third-party widgets are normally installed automatically in your /Home/Library/Widgets/ folder. The default OS X widgets are installed in the /Library/Widgets/ folder.

  • Mac Pro having issues with widgets after booting in 64-bit mode

I tried the temp 64-bit boot (holding down 6 and 4 on startup), Mac Pro boots fine. I've noticed a difference in how my system runs n 64-bit. Much peppier. But the one thing I've noticed is that widgets are coming up strange. More specifically, The Weather Network, Conversion, and Translate widgets. The letters and numbers are coming up as outlined boxes. The drop down menus still work, the names just don't come up. ie. In the Conversion widget, the drop down menu name is boxes, but when you click on it, you can see the names of the selections. But as soon as you choose one, the letters turn to boxes.
I've restarted my computer to boot back in 32-bit, and don't see the same issues. Is anyone aware of this, what's causing it, and if there is a fix? Thanks.

    HI Eric,
Some widgets and browser plugins as well such as Flash aren't supported in 64-bit. Some widgets were originally written for PowerPC platforms.

  • IStat Pro location (not in widgets) under Mountain Lion?

I like and use iStat Pro.  Under Mountain Lion the Processes no longer show up.
I contacted Bjango for support and they sent me an email stating that they are discontinuing iStat Pro.
    I found a simple fix at http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=15332289&postcount=20
My problem is that I cannot locate the code to change.  My Macintosh HD/Library/Widgets has no istat pro.  I tried Spotlight and the only istat pro that shows is the download istat_pro_4.92.zip.  Is my spotlight broken? thx

Every User has and has always had a Library folder. When Lion came out, Apple decided to have it hidden because some very important files are in there and if you don't know what you are doing, you could really mess things up. If someone directs you to "/Library" or "/Macintosh HD/Library" they mean the (not hidden) system library folder. If they say "~/Library" they mean the hidden User Library folder.
Not sure how to make spotlight search the hidden folder. You can unhide it permanently by entering this command into terminal:
    chflags nohidden ~/Library
After you do this, the Library folder will appear in your home folder.

  • I have a macbook pro and some of the original widgets have been removed by mistake and I can't find them torestore them. I wanted the original one back on the dashboard but I have't been able to do that. HELP !!! Thanks...

I have a macbook pro and some of the original widgets have been removed from the dashboard dock by mistake. I can't seen to find them to restore tham. HELP!!!

Widgets are located in the folder, users/"user name"/library/widgets/
Whilst holding down the option key in finder, and selecting the library under the "go" menu, you can access your library within Lion.
If you have a working Time Machine backup, you can restore those missing files back to the widgets folder. If you don't, and your widgets folder is empty, then they are indeed gone (unless they are still in the trash). You would then have to re-download them from where they came.
If everything is there, then just click the "+" symbol at the lower left corner of the dashboard screen to add them back to the window.

  • Final Cut Pro XML from Premiere Generates Blank EDL Spreadsheet from Online Widgets

Using CS6, I am trying to create a spreadsheet based off a Final Cut Pro XML generated from Premiere Pro.  I upload the XML to two different widgets (one of which being http://192.168.3.232/ingest/uploadFile.php), but then the spreadsheet that generates is blank, except for titles at the top of the columns (such as "Track #", "Shot #", etc. for this EDL).  I've used these widgets to create EDL spreadsheets numerous times before, using both CS6 and CC, and this is the first time they've created blank spreadsheets.
Any help you could give would be much appreciated!

Sort of a work around I am testing:
I have a cool script to open FCPro projects in AE. Sort of a free Automatic Duck.  I was going to do this:
Remove all effects and proprietary tracks in FCPro, as some cause problems with this script. Trial and error here.
Use the free script FCP2AE to export to AE (it's hard to find now)
Open the timeline in AE via the script FCP2AE
Export that from AE as PPProCC 2014 project
    Open in PPCC2014
That may work, it may also work just to remove all effects and then save the XML and open in PP CC 2014. Again sometimes it does work. The simpler the FCPro project the better.
    Another option
I was able to open the FCPro audio only OMF in Audition. Then I exported via XML FCPro format from Audition and this opened the audio tracks in PPCC2014. The stereo tracks were broken and placed on two mono tracks so you'll have to address that one.

  • Widget-iStat pro 3.0 beta 1

I downloaded the new version of istat pro earlier today, and it worked fine………………………for an hour! then it crashed, I reinstalled it, and it crashed again! I tried deleting it and downloading the prgram again, the same thing!!! I glanced at my system monitor after that, and noticed that it was running at full precceser power, but I had nothing running that would use that much power, when I looked closer I saw that istat pro 3.0 beta 1 was using 75% of my pc's power, even though it had crashed a few minutes ago, and supposedly wasn't running anymore, I force quit, and now here I am wondering if anyone else has had any problem with this, or other iSlayer widgets.
I used istat pro (2, not 3) for almost half a year without problems, and this new version looked awesome, but it doesn't work.
    Any thoughts would be appreacaited.

  • Hardware Monitor vs. iStat Pro widget

    Hi,
I'm going to be upgrading the fan on my video card (7800GT) later today. Before I do that, I'd like to get "before" temperature and rpm readings for everything to compare to "after" readings. I have never used Hardware Monitor or the iStat Pro widget.
Which is better for a Quad-- Hardware Monitor or iStat Pro widget? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
    Thanks!
    William

So iStat is more than sufficient for getting my temps and rpms? I'd like to get the rpms just to see what's going on with the fans.
I purchased the Zalman VF700-Cu, it should be arriving today. Yeah, I saw the VF900, too. It looks like it'll fit just fine (while blocking one slot- same as the VF700), but seeing as I know others have already successfully installed the VF700 and it seems to cool well enough (and it's a touch less expensive) I figured I'd just stick with the VF700. Also, the little controller that comes with the VF900 seems like a nice option, but I'd just find a good speed and leave it. I wouldn't be constantly changing it. And while the VF900 fan looks nicer than the VF700, that controller is a bit unsightly in addition to cluttering up the computer.

  • IStat Pro System Monitoring Widget

The answer is here...nearly...looks like we may have a great system widget...
I just found this widget on Apple:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/status/istatpro.html
"We get alot of emails asking about support for intel based macs in iStat Pro and iStat nano. At this stage there is no support for fan or temperature sensors in Intel based Macs in either widget. We will add support for cpu temps via the SpeedIt kernel extension in the next round of updates".

Hey. Yeah, what's goin on here. Is the widget supposes to show is temp as well? It didn't work on mine. Everything is working thou except temperature.
