Widget Text Shifted Up

Hello,
The text of my widgets, the date in calendar for example, are now shifted up a bit. They can still be read, but they are too high. Other widgets are similarly affected. Anyone else see this or have a solution?
Thanks,
MIchael Morrison

Just would like to say, thanks to this forum and to everyone who has been helpful to others here. I had a similar problem with my Dashboard after an Onyx Cleanup of my system and noticed my Dashboard apps with text shifted up off the baseline and made everything into outline type.
I was about to reinstall the Dashboard until I found this thread and thanks that I did. I did turn on Helvetica Neue in the system just before the Onyx cleanup for a project so I definitely knew this thread helped me solve my issues!
Thanks again to fellow mac users!

  • YouTube widget making text shift

I have a very simple page with a text box that has words and links and I often like to add a youtube video above one of the links. When I do this, the text shifts up in the browser when it loads despite it looking fine in iWeb. Is there a way to prevent this from happening? If I rarely had to do this, I would adjust accordingly and move on, but I do this quite often and it takes a lot of unnecessary time to keep moving the widget and uploading multiple times until it looks right in the major browsers.
Chrome & Safari seem to shift the text an equal amount. Firefox is slightly different.
Is there a way to put the youtube widget inside the text box instead of on top of it?

You can turn the text box into an image by adding a drop shadow with 5% opacity. That shouldn't shift with the widget. But the text won't be available to search engines.

  • How can I change fullscreen background color, so that it is the same when viewing on mac and iPad? I want this to be able to use MathType in widget text.

How can I change fullscreen background color, so that it is the same when viewing on mac and iPad? I want this to be able to use MathType in widget text.
As an example, html widget has white background on iPad, and black on mac. The same goes for interactive widget.
The MathType text inserted is inserted as a image, and will have the same color when in fullscreen as when not. So I need the textcolor to be the same in both views. Anyone know how to fix this?

We're still not communicating. This is why I wanted an example .iba.
Here's a re-creation of my own, going off what you described. You said "all html widgets and all gallery widgets" have this problem. So I inserted a blank HTML widget and a blank Gallery widget, and typed into both. Inserted a MathType equation into both. I don't see any difference when I preview it on my Mac compared to the preview on the iPad. I want to help, but I can't help if I can't duplicate the issue.
I've attached the screen shots and the .iba file [link to .iba file].
Feel free to email me directly at bobm at dessci dot com. If you're uncomfortable giving some information here, tell me anything you want in email. I work for the "MathType company", Design Science.

  • Is there a way to stop the text shifting between mac and pc?

I can't believe there is still no fix to the vertical text shift issue when transferring fla's between Mac and PC's. Create an fla on a Mac put some text in it, save the file and open it on a PC and see how the text has dropped.
Adobe please tell me I'm missing something here or at least acknowledge the problem and explain the cause.
This problem has plagued flash for as long as I can remember. None of the other applications (Photoshop, Illustrator etc) have this problem. It wastes huge amounts of time and causes massive quality control issues especially when outsourcing work.
We're using CS3 now and the problem is as bad as ever. It happens with all text fields and all font types.
    Please help.

Don't get your hopes up that anyone from Adobe will see your posting.  These are user to user forums and appearances by anyone from Adobe are rare.

  • Text shifting on imposed PDF; distill vs export

Hi experts. Please help me solve a mystery!
    Mac OS 10.7, InDesign CS5 7.0.4
Here's the problem: I export a PDF (using modified version of the built-in X-1a PDF export preset to include bleed and crop marks)
Fonts are embedded, no problems when preflighting in Acrobat.
The printer imposes the file by placing my PDF into spreads in InDesign CS6 on Mac (OS unknown) and exports to PDF using unknown settings (The PDF producer is Adobe PDF Library 10.0.1).
The imposed PDF I get back from the printer has text shifting (the PDF i send to him looks fine--no gaps).
It looks like there are random blank spaces in the text and misaligned numbered lists. (left image, image on right shows original ID file)
Our production person insists that my exporting the PDF is to blame and says we must use distiller for sending files to the printer.
When I print to postscript then distill, the shifting does not occur in the imposed PDF i get back from the printer.
Everything I have read on here for years has said the postscript/distill route is bad/old/unnecessary/proof I should get a new printer.
Production claims fonts are not properly embedded when exporting PDF (patently false as the document info show that fonts are embedded).
Unless I can explain, and fix the shifting type problem, I will have to stick with postscript/distilling workflow.
(Although this is also not a guarantee--i have had the text shift/gap happen in PDFs that went through distiller. There the problem seemed to be a bullet glyph that was CID-H encoded.
When I switched the font from a TT to PS version of the font, it used different encoding and the shifting/gap was fixed in the PDF i got back from the printer.)
    Please share your thoughts!
    Thanks.

OK. I've gotten the original PDF files that were exported from CS5 and then placed into a new CS6 document and then exported from the OP. By the way, the problem is not limited to exported PDF, but also with PDF created by distillation of PostScript from CS5.
I cannot replicate the problem by simply creating a new InDesign CS6 document and placing pages into the new document and exporting.
However, I noted that some crop marks in the original CS5-exported PDF file were not in the CS6-exported file. That leads me to believe that something edited the CS6-exported PDF file. Furthermore, the CS6-exported PDF file was not only labelled as PDF/X-1a, but it also had the Trapped True key on. For exported PDF, InDesign provides no trapping function and absolutely no way of setting that trapping key in the PDF file. But Adobe Illustrator does provide the means of doing trapping and/or labeling a PDF/X file as being trapped with the Trapped True key.
At this point, I believe that some combination of the following events occurred:
    *     The CS5 exported PDF file(s) were edited, possibly in Illustrator or with object editing in Acrobat Pro either with native tools or third party plug-ins and then resaved with the resultant PDF file(s) placed in the CS6 document. This editing may have messed up spacing of text that used ligatures, alternate characters, old style figures, etc. even though such text was not directly edited.
    *     The CS6 exported imposed spreads were subsequently opened in Illustrator or some other third party trapping engine and resaved with the Trapped True key set. In the process of resaving the file, problems per (1) above occurred.
    Conclusions:
    (1)     Whether PDF/X-1a or PDF/X-4 was used for export anywhere in this process is irrelevant. The designs in question didn't use any transparency or color management. Furthermore, no CID-encoded fonts were involved and no font name conflicts were involved. However, the fonts used in the original InDesign documents were OpenType CFF fonts with extended character sets which were in fact accessed for ligatures, superscripts, subscripts, etc.
    (2)     Previously non-disclosed steps were used in the workflow between the CS5 export and the resultant files I got to see. Using Illustrator as a PDF editor or as trapping software for PDF files in general is a possible / likely cause of the problems. If not Illustrator, then some very defective PDF workflow software for trapping and/or editing was used.
    (3)     Although InDesign is not designed as an imposition tool, the fact is that it is used for amalgamation of content such as magazines, journals, etc. where ads and other content as PDF (and other formats) is placed within InDesign pages. This appears to be working correctly and is not the source of the problem.
The OP is dealing with problematic workflow, but not with InDesign problems.

  • Problems with the Widget "Text Ticker"

Hello, I have a problem with the widget "Text ticker". I tried to put more then one text ticker on my site, but it doesn't work, when I look in Muse it looks like this:
and when I look in the preview only the first text ticker works...maybe it is not possible to have more then one text ticker on one site?
    Thank you.

It seems you are using the same name for all the ticker instances on page.
You need to have unique names for each of the ticker you want on a single page. Tickers with duplicate names will not work.
    Cheers,

  • Widget text issue after ICS update

After my Droid Bionic upgraded to ICS, most of the text and numbers displayed in each of my widgets appear scrambled.  I have Calendar, WeatherBug, SportsTap, and a stocks widget up and running. The Calendar app sometimes appears normal, but the rest all have scrambled text and numbers.
I've changed wallpapers multiple times, both regular and Live, with no effect.  I have also rebooted numerous times, in which the widget texts appear normal afterwards, but eventually become scrambled again.
    Anyone else experiencing this?

Have you tried clearing the system cache and/or uninstalling and reinstalling the apps?  A system cache after an OS update is useful since it clears out any leftover code from the previous OS; it won't delete any of your files.
    Clear system cache
    Power down phone
Hold volume up/down & power simultaneously
Use volume down to navigate to 'Recovery', use volume up to select
Should see screen with triangle and exclamation point next to an Android
    Press volume up/down simultaneously
Use volume rocker to navigate to 'wipe cache' and use power button to select
Once finished, use volume rocker to navigate to 'reboot system now' and use power button to select

  • Text shift after publishing

I am having a problem with my text shifting and some colors changing after I publish my website. The problem seems to be on the navigation bar toward the top of the page. It changes color to a darker shade, the text is not centered, and when you navigate through the site, the entire bar shifts up and down between pages. Here is the site:
    http://web.me.com/andrew.heinrich/Food_Congress/Home.html
Any suggestions as to why this might be occurring? I've tried to re-publish using the "publish all" option and I've also looked at it through various browsers and the problem seems consistent.
    Thanks for your help.

Are you using the default iWeb nav-bar that is created in Javascript and there for defaults to web-safe colours? I would get rid of it and create my own (it is very easy). Not only will this help with your problem but it will also improve the ability for search engine spiders to crawl your site as the links will be in HTML not javascript.

  • Text shifts down when overtyping

I'm in an office with 2 Macs with Indesign.
When typing over text (i.e. replacing a name on a business card) on one, the text is bumped down slightly. On the other terminal, this doesn't happen.
I assume that there will be a box to tick or untick, but so far I cannot work out where.
    Has anyone else experienced this?
    Regards
    Ben

If the same file behaves differently on two different systems, I suspect a display anomalie. I saw something similar just yesterday with a business card I did in CS3. When defining and applying a style based on the formatting for the text, the text shifted very slightly on the screen, but there was no change in the specifications for the type.
It's possible, of course, that both you and I are seeing a case where the hidden paragraph break at the end of the paragraph has different specifications than the rest of the text (can happen when highlighting and applying local formatting), but that would affect the file in general and should be apparent wherever you do the editing.

  • Text "shifts" through cross dissolves

This is kind of hard to explain...but when I am editing text onto a black background (ie: Blah Blah Blah Productions Presents Blah Blah Blah") the text shifts around, kind of jumps around when I add in cross dissolves. Anyone else experience this? Any way around this?

Deinterlacing will not help, it's not a factor here.
Chances are you have your render controls set to something other than BEST. That is, your text file exists at one quality level but your render files are being processed at a slightly lower quality. When FCP plays the files back in order, you see the change from the text file to the newly rendered video file as a visual hiccup. When you change the render settings, your transitions should all turn red and require re-rendering.

  • Text Shift Uncontrollably Inside Accordion Widget

Guys hi! I've been crashing my head for two days with this. Hope you will provide some help!
I have an Accordion Widget with a very long text block inside one of the boxes (a list with over 80 lines). On the background to each second line I put a grey rectange shape just to give some contrast to the lines in the list. In the project all the rectangles are prefectly aligned to be right behind the lines. But when I publish the site I definately see that the rectangles shift up or down.
Is it a bug and the widget simply cannon handle correctly so many elements insie the feiled or am i missing something here?
Many thanks in advance for your advice!! You might be saving me from insanity here;)
UPDATE!! It was not the shapes but the text that was shifting. I fave some items on the list that consists of two lines. That's where I changed the leading betwin those two lines from 200% (for separate items in the list) to 146% between two lines (for the items that cosist of two lines of the text). That somehow couses the text to shift in the preview mode xompared to the design mode. When I make the leading unilateral throghout the entire textbox everything stands in place.
    Still the problem remains unsolved.

    Zak. thank you very much!
And sorry for coming back so late on this.
You solution perfectly solved the problem.
On the downside,) I did have to change the layout and reformat the site to submit it to the client because the deadline came before I got your reply.
Perhaps the "Round Leading to a Whole Number" setting should be checked by default to avoid this kind of problems for other users in the future.
    Anyway, a million thanks!

  • Urgent text shifting problem with pdf creation from indesign

I have eps files placed in indesign and when some pages of my document are exported as pdf for press, the text moves slightly, like 1/16" or less, but enough to cause problems.  I'm using the original Indesign CS and eps files saved out of Illustrator 10.  Yup, old.....I know, but it's what I have to work with right now.  Some files are working fine but others are don't and they were all created/saved/exported the same, as far as I can tell.  Here's a small sample.  All the street name text is shifted down and to the left from the actually street.  Occurring with text on path as well as straight text.  Any ideas greatly appreciated.

You might also try exporting to .idml form CS5 (see Remove minor corruption by exporting). We've had other reports of similar beahvior when working with legacy files, and exporting to .inx from the original version may work even better.

  • Eliminate widget text?

    1) How do you get rid of the lable and the text boxes in a iBooks Author widget. I just want a container for an image or a table. The image holds the identifier.
    2) Also, how do you scale an image that has been placed into a gallery?

    Answered my own question.
You can just drag an image to the book and possition it where you want without using the Gallery.
My problem was that when I did a preview, none of the images showed up. The reason; you cannot look at the book in portrate mode. All of the images will be gone. Turn it to landscape and they are there.
Aparently iBooks Author only builds books in landscape mode.

  • Text shifts slightly at end of fade-in and at the start of fade-out

Hi, I have created text with a crossfade at both ends. I find that my text jitters a bit at the point where the fade-in ends AND at the point where the fade-out begins. How can I get rid of that slight shift?
    Thanks, Bob

Hi Tom, I am working in standard DV, and viewing the jittery text straight off the timeline. By your question, I am starting to assume that this problem may disappear when this project is eventually burned on a disk and viewed on a TV?
By the way, thanks for all your generous help. I hope you realize that you are saving a lot of people from going crazy. I wish I knew your address, and could send you a gift.

  • Text Shifting Up in PDF from HTML

We create our newsletter in HTML and then convert the HTML to a PDF to provide our readers with an easy method of sending it to others or printing it. I know this is far from ideal, but it's what the small nonprofit I work for does.
We made some changes to the newsletter design and now when we convert to PDF we have a strange problem. The table layout of the newsletter is correct and the HTML elements are placed correctly (tables within the outer table, background images, horizontal rules, etc). However, all of the content within the layout (text, images, divs) are shifted upward by some margin (approximately 6" when printed). I suspect it's some problem with the HTML code elements and how the PDF converter interprets them, but for the life of me, I can't find anything wrong.
    The HTML file is at:
    http://www.eric.org/public/resources/eertemplate.html
    The resulting PDF is at:
    http://www.eric.org/public/resources/Untitled.pdf
I know that HTML isn't this board's specialty, but I'm hopeful someone may have some ideas or seen this problem before.

I only have AA5 on this machine, but I opened the HTML file in Acrobat directly and everything seems to be fine. One problem with links is that they open as more of the same PDF. I think you want them to open separately. You might still be able to edit the link properties to open separately.
When you say your are converting the HTML to PDF, you have not indicated the process. You might try from the Acrobat. A user can right click a link and open it separately, but you might want to check this as the default.
