Widgets in Leopard...?

Hi
Is it possible to make Widgets pages?
as in 1 page is not enough for me... I have loads of widgets which are over lay on each other?
is there a solution for that?
thanks...

sorry! i am a new with all apple thingZ.
okay
what i mean is when u press F12 or what ever u set for ur widgets a page will appears and show all the widgets that you have! but its only ONE screen or better say one desktop that you have! so you only be able to put 5 notes and calender and a game and your screen is filled up!
is there any way to make the page that you drag widgets on bigger? ( like 2 pages)
sample: as in iPhone now you can have up to 9 pages to put your icons on!
thanks

  • Can't Download Widgets with Leopard?

    Hello All,
I'm trying to download some widgets off Apple's website and upon selecting to download the widget, it then asks,
"Do you want to install the widget “Word of the Day-2” and open it in Dashboard?"
and when I click install it immediatley tells me this,
"Installing the widget “Word of the Day-2” failed."
These are examples but it tells me the same for every widget I try to download!
I have Leopard 10.5.2 on a new iMac
I'm new to Mac and am angry with myself for using PC so many years
Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance

I've got the same problem as musichouse2. I downloaded 10.5.1 on my G4 Laptop on 1/12/08; three days later the popup window won't let me in. It seems like everything I left the PC world for is coming back and biting me in the butt. I'm not a techie and am dubious about trying out what's been recommended in article 306876, so if any of you smart folk out there have walked the walk, I'd appreciate any assistance you can lend.

  • Help requested for fixing Midi-reliant Widgets that Leopard killed?

While using Tiger, I had a couple of wonderful keyboard widgets that relied on Midi plug-ins to produce their sound. Leopard killed them. I have normal sound (I think) in all of my applications and non-Midi reliant Widgets, but anything Midi is dead and so is Finale Print Music, which won't even start up. Any guidance from the musical side?

I suggest you contact Finale and what other companies whose software you are using.
Leopard did not kill your widgets, they simply are not Leopard compatible and must be upgraded or newer ones downloaded. It's that simple.

  • No widgets after Leopard install

I did a "clean" install of Leopard a few weeks ago. Love it except for one small problem: The widgets will not work at all. I can bring up Dashboard, click on the X, drag a widget up into the screen area, and it immediately disappears. I found a knowledgebase article that said this problem can occur if parental controls are enabled for one of the user names. I went back to users as Admin, and removed Parental Controls from the account that had PC controls enavled. Still doesn't work.
    Any ideas for a fix?
    Thanks, Alan

Try fixing permissions on the drive using "Disk Utility".

  • Installed Leopard - Yahoo Widgets no longer work

After not being able to launch widgets once Leopard was installed, I uninstalled the Widget engine and widgets. Went to Yahoo site to download latest engine. Download shows as "happening". As soon as it's at 100%, it "disappears" (no desktop icon installer). What am I doing wrong?

Yahoo Widgets is not compatible with Leopard. The program runs, but none of the widgets will open.
Regarding your download, Apple changed the default location from the Desktop to the Downloads folder. You can change the preferences in Safari back to the Desktop. Once a download is complete, the Downloads folder in the Dock should change to show the file that was just downloaded. When you click on it, it opens the stack so you can access the newly downloaded file.

  • How can I remove a third party widget

I downloaded a noisy third party Homer widget (on leopard) and now can't remove it.
The finder search instructions say use f12 (but for me that is the volume control), I used f4 to open widgets but can't see anything for managing or removing widgets. The finder instructions say open with + but I can't see a plus or a manage widgets command.
    Thanks.

Open up Dashboard, then click the + in the lower left corner and add the widget called "Widgets". With this widget you can manage your widgets. If you want to get completely rid of a widget you need to delete it in the Finder. Go to /Library/Widgets or ~/Library/Widgets and delete the corresponding .wdgt file from there.

  • Web Clip Widget Keeps Recentering Itself-Help!

I've been looking forward to the Web Clip widget in Leopard for ages as a means of efficiently having instant access to the playlist page at KEXP.org. I've made a widget centered on the self-updating playlist portion of the page at http://kexp.org/playlist/playlist.asp, but it won't stay centered on the proper area--I'm usually good for four or five trips to the Dashboard, but after awhile the widget always changes its own shape, becoming long and narrow and centering on the frame on the left side of the screen. I'm quite eager to stop this from happening and to center it exclusively on the playlist in the middle. Any tips on how I can make sure this happens every time would be greatly, greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi Alex
I believe the BBC recently changed the way they code the radio widget, making it impossible to remain in the Dashboard. But, as you've found, the actual widget isn't in the Widgets folder.
The only way you can remove it is to trash your preferences. Go to the home Library folder, then Preferences, and trash com.apple.dashboard.plist and com.apple.dashboard.client.plist. Immediately reboot.
You might want to look at RadioAunty for an alternative way to access BBC radio stations.

  • Widget files won't open.

Hey everyone! I hope you can help me with this.
When I click a newly downloaded widget, on Leopard it used to just get added to the dashboard. Since I'm on Snow Leopard, nothing happens so I have to move the file to Library > Widgets.
Anyone else got this problem? Any suggestions how to resolve this? I've already tried deleting dashboard's plist file, didn't help.

If you are happy hearing that I have never heard of a widget not opening then consider this question answered.
If you want me to go into your question in great depth, please tell me the widget and the URL you download it from so I can test it.

  • Weather widget not working after upgrade to Snow Leopard (Australian areas)

The weather widget is not working since I upgraded to Snow Leopard.
The feed seems to have changed from Accuraweather or something like that to Yahoo!Weather, and Yahoo!Weather seems to have problems (at least concerning weather data feeds from places in Australia).
I live in Kempsey, New South Wales (Australia). I can't input that address, because it won't validate. When I try typing my address in the widget autocompletes with "Kempsey, Austral Eden, New South Wales (Australia)" (FYI, Austral Eden is a rural parish near Kempsey, but Austral Eden is not in Kempsey and Kempsey is not in Austral Eden). That address will validate, but there seems to be no weather feed: ie. I don't get any information displayed in the widget.
The nearest address that will validate correctly is "Port Macquarie, New South Wales (Australia)". The Yahoo!Weather feed doesn't provide any information about that, either.
I can get a weather data feed for Canberra. But Canberra is 800 kilometres from here.
I think I want to change back to AccuraWeather. How would I do that?

I'm annoyed by this as well.
I was planning on buying my father the Snow Leopard upgrade for Christmas, but there is no way he'll want it without a working Port Macquarie weather widget. ( I'm not kidding! )
I've looked at the AccuWeather widget as well, but it is really ugly!

  • IWeb '09 / Mobileme Gallery Widget / No Albums or Movies / Snow Leopard

This is my first time trying to use the Mobileme Gallery Widget in iWeb '09 and all I can get it to do is tell me "No Albums or Movies". I have non password / no hidden galleries published via iPhoto '09 and iMovie '09. I even tried publishing via me.com. Nothing. It publishes my site to mobileme just fine I just upgraded to Snow Leopard this afternoon if that makes any difference. I had never tried this feature before today so I can't say if it worked prior to the upgrade or not. I do use a personal domain and iWeb does see this and can publish the site to it but all the site has is my test blank page and an blank mobileme widget in it. Any ideas?

    Old Toad wrote:
I'd say Snow Leopard brought it on.
Thanks. I'll try avoiding those features until there's an update to SL and/or iWeb'09. Happily iWeb09 with SL deals fine with my website in its current rather featureless configuration so I'll keep it simple for now

  • Lost widgets after clean install of Snow Leopard

Does anyone know how I can restore my widgets (& the info on them, mostly sticky notes)? I did a clean install of Snow Leopard and I was able to pretty much restore everything manually from TIme Machine. I did go into "Users/Library/Widgets" and restore that, but it seems not to have worked, all I get are the 4 default widgtets.
Any ideas? Other than that the install went well.
    Thanks

Weird ... still no widgets, even after restoring those files ... sorry ...
I had about 10-12 sticky notes with semi-important info on them and it would be nice, but not critical, to have them back. I should have done a screen shot and saved that! I'm wondering if I must first create new, blank stickies first ... which would then take the info?? Seems odd, but who knows.
If you have another idea, that would be great.
Thanks for hangin' in there with me...

  • Widget: "screenshot plus", not working in leopard, etc...

widget: "screenshot plus", not working in leopard. another bug? kids digital camera opens iphoto but doesnt appear on desktop to eject w/out errors. another bug? if i havnt registered leopard yet, can i sell it, cuz i think i might not want it now.

These aren't bugs, they are 3rd party issues that are not Apple's responsibility. Whomever wrote the widget needs to update it for Leo. The camera manufacturer needs to update their hardware driver to be Leo compatible.
I'm sure someone will take Leo off you hands for a better price than elsewhere. It's a great OS.

  • Widgets Behaving badly on Leopard

Upgraded MacBook Pro to Leopard, and everything seems good except my dashboard widgets. "Say Cheese" displays part of its border shifted down too far and part of it transparent. "rpncalc" is completely transparent except for the buttons, which are in the wrong location and some of them are clipped. Sudoku widget displays OK, but each key must be pressed twice to take effect.
I tried removing the preferences files for the widgets, and moving them to trash and reinstalling, but same results. Same widgets work fine on my 13" Macbook.

No, my other machine is a macbook, not a macbook pro. They are both core 2 duo machines (< 1 year old) and both have all software updates applied. The only difference I know of between them (other than the files stored on them) is the hardware. I'd like to think this is not a hardware problem.</div>
Is it only some widgets that have this problem? And are they Apple widgets or 3rd party widgets?
I would suspect that they are 3rd party, not Apple, and the problem is hardware related, but not your problem - the widgets are not fully compliant with your MBP.
If you post a link to one of those bad widgets I will see what it does on this box. It's a Santa Rosa 3,1 from late last year. 64 bit, of course and completely up to date.

  • Widgets Freeze in Leopard

All my widgets worked in Tiger, but in Leopard they freeze. When I first open Dashboard all the widgets work fine, but when I hide the Dashboard, then open it again, all the widgets are frozen. When I open Activity Monitor and force quit the Dashboard then open Dashboard, the widgets work, however when I hide the Dashboard and open it again the widgets are all frozen again.
Is there a fix for this?
    Thanks!

Thanks Joseph. Yes I have third party widgets. And I did as you instructed. Thanks to your help I believe I've narrowed the problem down to one widget, RadarInMotion (http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/information/radarinmotion.html). I use to have four of these widgets running at one time, because of my outdoor activities I have become a hobbyist meteorologist and needed four different weather maps. But now I've noticed that if I have more than two of these widgets in the Dashboard all the widgets will freeze.
I'll attempt to come up with another solution for monitoring the weather.
    thanks for your help.

  • Widgets made in Leopard

When I make a widget from Safari using Leopard, where does the widget go? Can I find move the file?

    Hi
From the description in this recent Macworld article (Create Web Clips), it seems the user created widgets are not saved as individual files. If you deselect a User created widget from the dashboard, it is gone from the system.
