Widgets: review clutters

Hey there,
I'm working on an german book with some review-widgets. They looks like this in iBooks Author:
But they looks like this in iBooks on my iPad:
Any ideas?

I tried Arial, Georgia und TimesNewRoman in different sizes.
Don't using an image results in the same text-clutter with a blurred placeholder.
The book is landscape only.
I tried an all new book with the first simple template from Apple: the same reslut. The width of text in iBooks Author issnt the same as in iBooks on the iPad.

I still got some mix but important queries.
How to completely exit whatsapp and also stop it service? It eats a lot of battery. At night while sleeping I want to completey shut it down. So please advice.
I tried setting data limit and a red exclamation icon appear on the top. Now when I disabled it, its still showing the red exclamation icon. How to completely disabled data limit?
Also xperia doesnt show any 2g/3g icon and I want my phone to only use 3G network so how shall I do that?
And is there any app to display/show continuous ram/mem usage on homescreen or status bar at top?

I returned from my tour & Xperia captured some fantastic shots: smileysmileythumbsup: Thanks for your tips.
But I still have some imp. things to worry about........
1] Yesterday I charged full battery and instantly turned On Low battery mode & Stamina mode and also Aerplane mode thus no calls/data/sms/wifi/gps etc. usage.
Thus the cell was only used for capturing images @ default 8MP and some at 15-20MP manual. 85% images were shot in daylight with flash off and the rest 15% at night with auto flash. In all I captured 330 images incl. some videos.
And end of the day my battery stands at 14%.
Hows this benchmark? Is this pretty low as compared to a normal Z3 Compact performance?? smileyraised_eyebrow:
2] Another major concern is, Ram in use is always 990mb or 1.1gb and left with 590mb free of the overall 2gb.
Why is this happening? I dont have any 3rd party apps installed apart from whatsapp for which as well I have turned on Restrict background data. Also did Restrict background data to many other apps like google play/service/ fb/chrome and whatever I dont use. Still same result of 1gb+ ram usage.
I dont have any gadget on homescreen but just mere 4-5 basic shortcuts. No live wallpapers. No BT,wifi,gps,location etc. turned on.
I'm on wcdma pref/gsm mode though. Data is turned on manually as and when I need it.
So even if i check my Battery usage stats, Screen is always using 41-47% battery even though the brightness is 40% with no animated or live wallpapers/no widget or cluttered homescreen.
3] If I call and sms often my battery doesnt drain but as soon as I turn on whatsapp for an hour my battery drains by 4-6%/hr rate. Is this a normal behavior?
4] Actually my main concern is how to get 2 days battery life as promised by Sony. Based on what and how much usage did they calculated 2 days.
5] Even worst. Just full charged the battery and now the estimated battery life shown is mere 6 hours? How the **bleep** on earth can this be possible on any phone???
Also now the battery is dicharging very fast like 8% in an hours time even if you listen to music without any mobiledata activity.

How do I add a widget to give a review or star rating for a book at the end of a book in iBooks Author? You know, how you buy books on iBooks and when you're finished reading it, there's a place where you can give a rating or review right there on the very last page?

Just supply a link that says 'Review This Book' - use http://itunes.apple.com/linkmaker/ to generate one.

Where can I find a good tutorial on using the Review Widget?

Have done 2 books with iBooks Author, and still can't get the Review Widget to work. Is there a tutorial available? Thanks for any help!

ibook-widgets.com have a free tutorial book in the iBooks store. Search for "Create your first interactive book using iBooks Author" they also sell widgets.
I dont have any connection - I found their eBook in the store long ago and used it to learn more about iBA.
The best advice though, is be patient, go back over the process step by step, I cannot access the Help files for some reason.. but i am sure its in their.

Review Widget Error with Portrait Photos

When previewing my review widgets on the iPad, all of the questions with photos in portrait orientation are messed up even though they look fine when viewed in ibooks author. Even when I delete the photo completely and just have the words, it is still goofy. However, the landscape oriented photos and questions are all normal. In fact, so far all of the other multiple choice formats seem to work fine. Is there anyway to fix this without having to use all landscape photos?

The error still shows up even when exporting it as an ibooks file and syncing with iTunes. In fact, the book behaved as if it was no different from the preview book keeping all of my notes and even opening to the same page I had bookmarked in the preview version.

Review Widget: "drag the correct answer to the target" - not working for me?

Ive read the (very limited) help on this problem, and I must be doing something wrong
I simply want to indicate the right answer A or B - couldnt be simpler.
Apple says:
"To indicate the correct answer: Select it or drag the label or image to the target. To have more than one correct answer, hold down the Command key while you select the answers."
Its just not working. I assume it means drag the CHOICE A button OR CHOICE A text (thats all there is) to some target on the inspector but that doesnt work nothing happens. (And where is "the target" what target? Where? I cant find a "drop" green plus appearing anywhere..
So I then, instead I try dragging the QUESTION TEXT (eg is the sky blue or red) to somewhere and that DOES show a draggable obkect but again where is this "target"? If that means the Answer a or Answer B back in the widget it self then No, that doesnt do anything, no drop zone is saying "hey drop me here"
So, like I say, I must be missing somethign really obvious. But Ive no idea. Please help.

I am trying to investigate this issue but I havent been able to reproduce it. It would be great if you could give me a few inputs.
1) Are you able to Publish Comments in the review?
2) Is there any internet traffic monitoring tool running on your machine?
3) Close Acrobat and then try killing the AdobeCollabSync.exe from task manager. Now open the review file again and try to sync the comments. Does this work?
4) Try downloading a fresh copy of this file from Acrobat.com server and replacing your local copy with it.
If all these things do not work then maybe we can analyze the traffic (using fiddler) on your machine to investigate the problem.

How to change the answer text within the review widget of iBooks Author?

I want to change the answer text which appears after one has finished a test within the review widget of iBooks Author, but I can't figuere out how to do that.
I also want to sum up the result of a couple of questions as a percentage. How does that work?

Video in the Review widget

Is there any way to insert video into the iBooks Author review widget?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The only half-baked solution I can come up with is to put the video next to a basic multiple choice layout, and just try and make the two look like they belong together. Which is not ideal, considering I have multiple videos and will have to create multiple review widgets to go with them. If anyone can come up with a better solution, I'm all ears!

Given the current state of iBA, I'd say you've established the best process you can expect.
You could always attempt to bake your own widget with both features, of course, but by that time I suspect you'll have thought of other features, etc. which might put you into an app instead.

Can I resize thumbnails in the Review widget?

In the review widget options, the sixth option down is called "Drag Thumbnail to Target."
Does anyone know if I can resize the thumbnails at the bottom?

Are you talking about the thumbnails in the Pages pane?
In that case, you can right-click on the Pages pane to bring up the context menu.
"Enlarge Page Thumbnails" and "Reduce Page Thumbnails" are items on that menu.
You can also click on the little gears icon under the name of the Pane. That bring up the same menu.

Change background color in a Review Widget

Can someone tell me how to change the background color (the white portion) in a review widget?

That option changes color only around the white portion of the widget. The white portion is where the question and the answers are - I want to lose the default white color.

Bugs iBooks Author review widgets and text sections

This week since updating software iTunes and on iPad 3 using Mac bookpro with Mac OS 10.7.5 the review widgets in iBook Author has a bug, which removes part of the questions and part of the answers. I am using the most recent version of iBooks Author.Any suggestions or advice? Also, another bug is that text sections have been affected to some degree with sections of sentences removed.All other wigets are running normal.

I also had this issue, particularly in the Review and Pop-Over widgets. Sections of text were absent only when I previewed on iPad or Mac. This occured on OS X v10.9 Mavericks for me, so it does not seem to be isolated to one operating system. I was also running the latest version of iBooks Author.
I was able to resolve this issue by rewriting the text in slightly different wording. Simply deleting the text and replacing it with the same text did not help. I had to actually rewrite different text that basically meant the same thing. I was not able to figure out what about the origional text was causing the problem. Try typing a variety of different sentences. Chances are, some will cause the error and some won't.

With the Review Widget, how would I do a "match the following" question?

Can you help me find a solution for iBooks author to quiz by matching words up with sentences?
This is the question I am asking in the quiz:
Match the following

_____ (c) Question 3     (3) Answer 2
In the book, you'd just put the number 2 on the first line, etc. How would I create this same type of question in iBooks "Review" widget?
I know this can't be directly done in the iBooks default review widget so what I'm looking for is just a best substitution or if there are widget developers that have created a more extensive quizzing widget, I'd love a link.

If you want to add in an XML file to a POST command, you'd add it just like any other file you'd attach to a post request, especially (if you're request is the same as your last post) if you're just doing a jsp page. I'd do it something like this:

Interactive image & review widget issue-

Hi,
When I publish the preview on my iPad, texts, illustrations and videos are fines except 2 widgets :
Interactive image and reviews are going wrong, the area is a little bit blured and not interactive at all ! I' tried with and without pictures. I've try with new templates but nothing… allways same problem
I've recently download a ibook on the iBookStore using Review widget and I've got the same problem, it means to me that the problem is from my iPad side does someone has any idea ?

Can the Review Widget be reformatted?

I am having a hard time making a review widget fit on my page. I can seem to reduce the white space around my three possible answers? Also, would rather have all three on one line to run across the bottom of the page, rather than stacked. Anyone know if this is possible?

This is a IBA community site, so I try to find solutions and workarounds that work in IBA.
Sure there are going to be things that can't be done in IBA and are best done with an iPad App.
But IBA is a lot easer then programing an iPad App and I think a lot of the people on this site can't program an iPad App (including me)
If something can't be done in iBA that i know of, that's what I say. I figure If someone can program iPad Apps then they probably already know if that is the better route to go.
I really don't think using Keynote or html widgets is band-aiding IBA.
If you can make a quiz/review in Keynote that works better for your needs then the review widget, use it.
To be honest, for what I think joeandginny1 need, I think this is a workable solution and there is no need to use something besides IBA.
Also, if they don't want to use Keynote, another solution could be to run the review widget full screen only, and have the hot spot to launch the full screen review along the bottom of the page (on top of a text box with the question etc.)
