Widows Multimedia Video Enclosures to E-mail --- how to open them?

I know that ".WMV" files are Microsoft files that people send me as enclosures. Out of the box Mac OS-X Leopard doesn't open them. Is there a plug in or something that would allow me to open them???? Thanks, -Bruce

Yes. Try http://www.flip4mac.com - it's a Quicktime component that allows playback of windows media.
You can't export to WM (if you have QT Pro) unless you buy it, but playback is free.

Sorry, yes this is Microsoft Excel. The Microsoft XP has Excel files denoted as xl, the later versions of Microsoft Excel are denoted as xls files. The later verions of Microsoft Excel open the xl files OK, does Excel for Mac not able to do this?

Anyone ever heard of .QTX files? And have any idea of how to open them?

Mac Mail deleted inbox messages from yahoo mail, how to get them back?

I recently started using the Mac Mail client with my yahoo-plus email account.
What Mac Mail did was delete ALL inbox messages from my yahoo account, after one week from importing them to Mac Mail.
The inbox messages can still be found in the Mac Mail inbox, but not in yahoo's inbox.
I was wondering if there is a way to retrieve these deleted messages back to my yahoo inbox.
Also, I was wondering about the sync feature on the Mac Mail and what will actually happen if I use it. Does it apply to mail messages, or to address book and calendar entries?
I would appreciate you help on this issue.

Mail/Preferences/Account/Advanced - This setting is adjustable for each mail account.

Not Really, you could forward them to your account, after you've told your mail program not to delete the emails at all, but they will show up as being from you instead of the original sender. The originals at Yahoo have been dumped and probably purged. It would take an IT manager at Yahoo to manually replace the emails, not much chance of that.
I've already asked yahoo to "restore" my inbox to a day ago. That should help me with retrieving some of the messages back, I hope.

The sync feature refers to IMAP email accounts like .Mac or .Me or an Imap gmail account. I didn't think Yahoo offered IMAP email accounts.
Apple's MobileMe membership will let you sync your Mail, AddressBook, Calender, personal website with iWeb, etc.

I wanted to use Mac Mail, see if I liked it or not, then decide to get a MobileMe account. However, this is still a side note, since my yahoo account is my main email client.

i have a bunch of 'coverted' mp4s on my iPod. they play fine from there.
i'm trying to delete them off iPod..but cannot see any videos in iTunes!
-Ipod->movies and theres nothing.
-Music lists all my music... no videos?
anyone help?

From you post I understand that your iPhone 5 is not being recognized in iTunes on your Mac. To resolve this issue please follow the steps below:
Follow these steps to resolve your issue:
Ensure that your Mac meets the minimum system requirements for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
Install software updates on your Mac.
Note: If an iTunes update is available, apply the update.
Check USB connections. iOS devices require USB 2.0 to function properly. If you're not sure your Mac has USB 2.0 ports, refer to the computer's specifications.
Disconnect other USB devices and connect your device directly to a USB port on your Mac.
Restart your Mac.

My edited videos on my computer wont let me open them into itunes

my videos i got off another site are not formated right so i went under a video editing program and added the sound so i can attempt to play them on my ipod wich originaly when the files were formated removed the sound i want to know why my edited videos cant open with my itunes and if there is any way that my files that are not formated right can be changed for my ipod so that i have picture and sound.

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. Now head into your Add or Remove programs control panel, select "Apple Application Support", click "Change" and then click Repair.
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post (although it's for Vista and 7, just read "Computer" as "My Computer", read "Uninstall a program control panel" as "Add or Remove programs control panel" and assume the system is 32-bit, and you'll be doing the right things):

Whenever I download anything , my download box in tools is behaving very odd. It does not show my downloads as they are being downloaded (1) and (2), it is automatically clearing them be fore I can decide where and how to open them. Any help?

If I download files, pictures, programs, etc. the download box pops up, but rather than remaining in a list(?) so I can download later , it just pops up and then disappears. Ah, gotcha! I see that you have Adobe PDF Pack, so yes, you can combine PDF files (up to 12 at a time). Log in to your account at https://cloud.acrobat.com and click Combine Files. Then, select Files to Combine, and select up to 12 files. If you need to combine more than 12 files, do them in batches, and then combine the combined files.
(There are some types of the PDF files that can't be combined, such as those that are password protected, or are part of a PDF portfolio.)

OLE Objects - How to open them in Java?

An OLE Object contains a header set by the Access Database and the file itself.
I just quit trying to find a way to remove the OLE header and get only the file, once the file inside the OLE Object might be from a lot of types, like docs, or pdfs...
Now, I just want to take this OLE Object and open it from Java.
Does anybody know any way for me to do this?

How to open attachment in mail

I am new to Mac. I have been receiving .wmv attachments with some e-mails and do not know how to open them. I double click the icon and just get a bunch of "code" or whatever it is. Is there a way to open these attachments?

Welcome to Apple discussions.
The other posters are correct. As a bit of background, Microsoft stopped supporting WMV for Macs sometime ago (apparently they have started again, as I just learned). However, they did provide a free link to Flip4Mac that allows WMV files to play in Quicktime.

All you can do is restore from backup if yu have one. If you backed up to iTunes make sure that autosyncing is turned off. Otherwise when you connect the iPod to the computer the backup with you data might be overwritten. To turn off go to iTunes>Preferences>Devicesand check the box that says "Prevent iPods...".

I have downloaded MF as a secondary browser as advised to open some video files however when i try and open videos it defaults to Explorer. How can I direct it to MF?

I have purchased DVD and using this link D:\powerseller_challenge.html to open video tutorials however Explorer couldnt open so was advised to download MF. However I still dont know if tutorial videos work because when I try to open them the browser defaults to Explorer. I dont really want to make Firefox my default browser in case I have problems. Thanks very much. Advice from my brother was just to copy and paste the link from Explorer to Firefox. It worked but needed to download a plug-in. Did this but message was 'no suitable plug-ins found' and had to search manually. Managed to find one manually but there was warning attached that it was executable file (http://aihdownload.adobe.com/bin/install_flashplayer10_chrd_aih.exe) and could contain viruses. Didnt think it could be so hard to open a video!!!
