Wierd behavior

I created a slideshow in iphoto5. After updating to 6, it will not resize the images in the viewer window. For example, If I want to use Ken Burns and enlarge for start and finish, it will not blow up as I move the slider. However, when I preview the slide, w the image will be enlarged. I have no way to make correct enlargements. I tried reinstalling, permissions and restart but no luck. Any ideas?

Hi Groomsy,
Click on View in the Toolbar, then Show View Options. Look to see what is checked. I think your problem is odd, and that's the only place I can think to check.

It seem LikeFilter has wierd behavior, or am I used it incorrectly?
I test used 2 objects in cache and with key name "TEST_1" and "TEST12"
ValueExtractor extractor = new KeyExtractor(IdentityExtractor.INSTANCE);
Filter filter = new LikeFilter(extractor, "TEST\\_1", '\\', true);
I would expect above code to return me only the object with key "TEST_1",
but I got nothing return back.
But if I use "TEST_1" as pattern string, I got both object back.

I doubt that you would get both keys (i.e. the TEST12 key as well) for the pattern TEST_1, but I can confirm that the "TEST\\_1" pattern indeed returns an empty result set instead of the TEST_1 key it by all expectations should.

Rulers class with wierd behavior

I have made a rulers class which draws horizontal & vertical rulers that uses Flass CC supplied scrollpane component to control the rulers movement.
It scrolls with the scrollpane, It seems to respond correctly when the scrollpane content is scaled up, but when the content is scaled down, there is wierd behavior in that the rulers position does not match the scroll position. After the scrollpane is scrolled the rulers go to the correct position.
I hope this problem makes sense. Anyway I am providing the files necessary so you can see it in action and maybe help me locate where I have gone wrong.

Multiple guest users plus wierd behavior

Hello,
I'm having strange behavior in my afp logins - home folder house icon disappears, some users launch a file - it bounces and then it never launches, some share-points come up without mounting (only alias shows), sometimes a user takes 10 minutes to log-in, very long beachballs when opening a folder, etc. These behaviors are intermittent...
I see that in my AFP connections the following:

The number of <Guest> users from the same machine varies. when I log out of the machine, the <Guest> users are still in the AFP list on the server as being logged in from that machine.
I don't know whether the behavior is related to the <Guest> issue or not, so I have the following questions: is the above status for APF normal? If not, how do I correct? If not, what else may be causing my unreliable behavior?
The server is 10.4.7 and the database is fully kerberized. Services running include: AFP DHCP, DNS, FTP, NFS, Open Directory, and Web.

I just noticed the same behavior on a client's new dual 2ghz G5 Xserve.
The AFP process spikes the CPU near 80% or so from time to time, though the server's not swapping out too much at all. It has 2 gb of RAM.
AFP looks like it hangs out at a reasonable load most of the time, but it does show a high number of threads in use. I tried setting the maxThreads key from 200 to 300 in /Library/Preferences/com.apple.AppleFileServer.plist. My client is going to restart AFP to see if that helps at all.
Regardless, what might cause the multiple authenticated/guest logins per IP? Has anyone else seen this?

Component Update/Display mode ... wierd behavior.

I've a component having a effective dated record. and the component is available in all modes (Add , Update/Display , Correction).
When am in Update/Display mode and effective date is 01/01/1900 and i change something on the page and hit save .. it correctly gives me an alert window saying cannot change history records.
However... When am in Update/Display mode and effective date is any date other than 01/01/1900 and i change something on the page and hit save .. it saves without an alert :(.
I even tried winmessaging %mode it stays at U.
any idea how to correct this behavior? any help on this is appreciated.

and the other rows on the page..did you add them or are you trying to update an existing row..

Wierd behavior on Set Up Assistant the last time I installed OSX...

One week ago, I installed OSX (10.6.3) on my MacBook Pro. Installation went normally. Following the intro OSX Welcome video (the one with the word welcome in different languages), as expected, the first dialog screen of the set up assistant comes on (the one that ask on which country you have), as you may remember at the same time that screen appears, the Snow Leopard "Aurora" background appears in a fade in effect. Here's where my question comes, the last time I installed OSX, the "Aurora" background started appearing with the fade in effect transition but it was not smooth. In other words, the background appeared in a "cut" fashion but then continued it's smooth transition.
Should I be worried?, as far as I am using my MacBook Pro it has been working ok.

My customer have a local Exchange 2010 SP3 installation.
They use a 3-party line of business application that tries to send an email with an attachment to another internal user.
The applications uses API to open a new mail in Outlook 2010 where the email is ready to send with the recipient, body and attachment.
If the user presses send. They get a NDR right away. But if they remove the recipient address and type it manually again it works.

It is worth mentioning that the email only has 3 lines of text and the attachment is a 72 KB .tif file. Their is only one recipient. It doesn't matter what the recipient is. As long as he is the recipient from the line of business application.
The total .msg message size is 89 KB in total.
Im completely stuck and appreciate every input.

Really sorry to say Rob that we didnt find a solution. Our client just accepted it. Both Microsoft and the application provider pointed the finger at each other. And we hope to move this customer to Office 365 instead in time.

Wierd behavior from MySQL queries

I have a really frustrating problem in my JSP app that only seems to be occuring sporadically... I have to deploy it on an NT machine that is available right now. I'm using Tomcat/MySQL. I've had it on a W2000 machine and it has worked fine. To complicate things, the NT that it is on does have a proxy server that it must go through...it doesn't seem to want to work during the day, but in the evenings (presumably less traffic?), it has yet to fail me.
The part of the app that won't update properly is responsible for letting people sign into an office cube daily, updating a seat table in the MYSQL database. It 1st checks to see if the person is assigned to another seat, and deletes that entry if they are. It then updates the seat table, replacing '0' (meaning no one's sitting here) with the person's emp_id. Here's the code for these 2 methods in the seat bean (with session scope):

The seat table has a primary key of id/emp_id.
Like I said, these queries have worked fine on a different installation, and they work sporadically on this one. Any clues about this? Could some sort of 'timeout' be occuring and not throwing any errors?

Sorry. Let me clarify... While this app fails to properly insert into the database, the rest of the app functions as normal.
Basically, when I click on a hotspot, I open a small window with javaScript. The window has a form that I fill out with emp info, then I submit it and it closes. Then, when someone clicks on that hotspot, the record that should have been created displays...
This works some of the time, but when it doesn't, it simply displays a blank form, and based on a report run on another page, I know that it never inserted/updated the database. But never any error messages, etc.

Wierd behavior from printers

In my school we have a lot of HP printers. Each floor has it's own vlan and DHCP scope. Printers on floor 1, 2, 3 and 5 are behaving niceley. But on the fourth floor there's something strange going on. Last week all of them were transmitting 76 Mbit/s each for a total of half Gbit/s. So obviously I could not ping them. Now after a firmware update on each I can occassionally ping some of them. Sometimes with less than 1 ms latency. Other times with high latency and/or DUP!. Any ideas to what is going on?

Is there a way to revert an upgrade? Because the router has been acting very strange in the last several weeks, starting with mid-december. Radio would turn itself off now and then, spontaneous reboots/resets... I even ended up using an old laptop as a wireless AP, to workaround wireless issues.

Wierd behavior of jdbc:odbc using MSACCESS 2002

I'm using msaccess 2002, java version 1.4.0, Windows XP.
I configured ODBC driver for my database "MailDB" using "odbcad32".
I have no problem retrieving data from my database to my program, however I can't insert data to my database.
I've checked my SQL syntax, it works fine within Access.
Does anyone have an idea what could be the problem?

Buddy icon? Also wierd behavior in "create"

How do you change the icon next to your name in kuler to a
pallet (instead of solid black)?
When I'm in the "create" section of the app sometimes the
theme is not saved in the order I set the colors... for example,
let's say square 1 is white square 2 is black and square three is
green. When saved the theme sometimes gets placed out of order.
square 1 is black square 2 is white etc. Is this a bug or is there
some logic in the background that places the colors in a certain
order for you? I can get screen captures if needed...

Re: your theme avatar. Try saving a theme in RGB and see if
that gives you an icon--it's a possible workaround. Let me know

IMovie'08 import: wierd showstopper

When trying to import any movies from disk to iMovie, I got something totally wierd, which makes iMovie unusable.
Starting with some .dv files. When importing these (copy, not move), all share the same preview, length and audio. All tracks, which are longer than the one selected by iMovie are cut in the length.
When importing DV from my camera via Firewire, everything works. When importing and adding the files to an event created by DV camera import, it also works. But when creating a new event at import, I got this wierd behavior.
It is getting more strange, when I dont import the file, formerly selected by iMovie to give its preview to all. Eg. tried it with 2 files. Both have the same preview. Deleted both from iMovie and did a new import, this time I only choose the one which did not have the correct preview. When it is imported, it again has the length, audio and preview of the other, not imported movie.
In the iMovie Library, all 4 files are correct. Its the right .dv and the .mov in the cache and in iMovie Thumbails both .mov files are also absolut correct.
This means that iMovie does not show the preview from the iMovie library, but from some other file elsewhere.
Maybe it is interesting, that it is a German version, both Mac OS and iMovie.
This makes iMovie unusable for me.

it is easy to teach a digital still-cam to 'record' a dozend frames per second.. but how this bunch of stills finally get converted in those devices into some codec, a video-editor-app can understand is sometimes a mystery ..
usually, you shouldn't care for codecs using the iApps .. iApps are by concept plug'n play, simple & convenient..
if you notice any trouble, go specific, tell us in detail type & model of device, or make use of the Search feature, e.g. Exilim is discussed +ad nauseam+ on this board ..

Older Flash VR odd behavior

We wanted to convert some QTVR samples in our online
portfolio to Flash. One of the object movie VRs turns out to have
been authored in Flash 5 and exported as a QTVR. We got the
original FLA file and saved it out as a new .swf. But the 360º
loop part does not behave as coded-- it's meant to rotate once and
stop, allowing users to pick up control of the rotation from there.
Now the file rotates continuously until you click on it. Once you
take control, it skips a bunch of frames in the same section of the
360 on each rotation-- but the aforementioned auto looping shows no
skipped frames! I'm just the clueless art director, so I don't know
Flash well at all. We can save out .swfs all day long and the same
skipped frames and wierd behavior happens to each one. Any
suggestions? Thanks!

Here is the function i'm dealing with
i'm reading in a delimited string and using indexed arrays to
break them up and assign the keys and values to an associative
array in a loop.
i'm using variables in the loop and the array loads as

but outside the loop, the only key is the variable name and
the value is undefined
this is true using dot or array notation, as well as literal

on lines 12-13 i assign the key=value pair to string
variables
then on lines 17-18 i assign those values to the associative
array using dot notation
the trace seems to work there
the problem is that when the procedure exits the for loop,
the associative array only has one key (myKey) and no value
(undefined)
all the documentation i've read shows using these types of
arrays with either non-quoted property names like:
myAssocArray.myKey = "somevalue";
or
myAssocArray[myKey] = "somevalue";
i tried assigning the key/value pairs directly from the
indexed arrays, but the result was always undefined
like this:
suspendDataArray.keyValArray[0] = keyValArray[1]
or
suspendDataArray[keyValArray[0]] = keyValArray[1]
i even tried building a string in the loop and trying to
assign all the pairs at once using the curly brace
this is pretty wierd behavior for actionscript or i'm missing
something basic here
