Wierd email download problem...losing messages

Anyone else had this problem - you download messages on iPhone - and often get the dreaded "no content" or "did not download message from server" message - and then when you try to download message on primary computer the message never shows up? (And yes, the iPhone is selected to "leave message on server".) This has happened several times now....some times the message shows up hours or days later, some times not at all. I am using a POP account on a Macbook pro. Any explanation? Thanks in advance!

That's normal behavior if you are using an IMAP email service.

BTYahoo! Email IMAP - Problem saving messages in S...

I have been using BTYahoo! email with IMAP for several years now. One problem that I never used to have has become more and more regular over the last six months or so. It is now at the point where I get this problem 95% of the time when sending messages.
When I send a message it seems to get sent ok, but there is then a problem with saving a copy in the Sent folder. Almost every time it will trigger an alert in my e-mail client (currently Thunderbird) saying that the message could not be saved in the Sent folder. This alert appears after a short time-out limit is reached. At this point clicking the option to retry usually works, but sometimes it will just fail repeatedly and I have to cancel the attempt to save a copy.
I have tried a different e-mail client program but got a similar error alert about not being able to save a copy in the Sent folder. To me that implies it is a problem with either my BTYahoo! email client settings or the server-side system.
I'm using the same IMAP settings that I had used without issue for a long time.
imap.mail.yahoo.com - port 993 - SSL/TLS (normal password)
smtp.mail.yahoo.com - port 465 - SSL/TLS (normal password)
I have tried changing the outgoing server to that below but it doesn't solve the problem.
mail.btinternet.com - port 465 - SSL/TLS (normal password)
My questions are:-
Has anybody else experienced a similar problem?
Is anybody aware of any recent IMAP settings change that I need to apply to solve this?

The problem started for me something like six months ago. Originally it was a rare occurrence so clicking retry once every now and then wasn't a big deal, but as I mentioned I now get the time-out virtually every time I send a message. I appreciate the message is successfully sent first, but I can't just ignore it as I need to have a copy retained in my Sent folder for my records.
Possibly the BTYahoo! servers that handle that function are much slower to respond now? I'll see if I can increase the time-out limit in Thunderbird. There is no time-out problem sending messages, just when saving the copy.
Once in a blue moon I don't get the error message but there is still no copy saved in the Sent folder. That is very annoying when it happens. Luckily that is still a very rare occurrence currently.
I'm really trying to establish whether this is a problem caused by my PC set up, or whether it's a problem with BTYahoo! email and there is nothing I can do at my end to fix it.

Thunderbird just "spinning" no email downloaded no error message

My email hasn't updated since Jan 20. The spinning circle indicator just spins endlessly with no error messages and no information as to what it's trying to do. Any help?

No Dice. That didn't work. I can send email but get an error message saying that Thunderbird encountered a problem while trying to save the message to the sent folder.
Don't know if that helps.

ITunes 8.2 download problem error message

Am running windows vista and logged in under administrator account. Tried to download itunes 8.2 both from a "clean install" (deleted existing itunes files, temp folders, uninstalled all versions of itunes and quicktime) and with my existing itunes software but getting an error message "could not access network location %APPDATA%\.
PS. If there is a problem with itunes 8.2 and not my PC, anyway to get an older version of itunes back on my pc?

When I send out an email to a person who is under the same email server, it works(e.g., from "[email protected]" to "[email protected]"). However, if I send to an email address that is not under the same server (e.g, from "[email protected]" to "[email protected]", I got the following error msg:

So it seems sending to an outside address from my own email server doesn't work.
However, on the contrary, if I send an email from [email protected] to my address "[email protected]" by using my email server "email.ZZZ.edu", it works. You see, this will cause security problem, that means, a person can send to me an email by using an forged email address.

What are you using for SMTP services? It looks like you have it setup to only relay messages to its own domain but accept messages for relaying from any where.
I would talk to whoever setup the service to get it configured to relay messages anywhere but accept requests from your domain only. Your Java code looks fine and does work so I think you just need to get the environment setup right.

I have Acrobat Reader XI and every email attachment that is sent as word is automatticall converting to PDF upon downlading, making them impossible to read. Please help!

That does not make any sense; are you saying you attach a .doc or .docx document to an email message, and when your receive it, it has been converted to a .pdf?
More likely the recipient's file association is incorrect.

However, I cannot find the "Apple Software Update" program either from Start -> All Programs or the Control Panel. I am running Windows XP, Service Pack 3. I would appreciate any additional guidance you have.

I feel your pain. I awoke this morning to check my text messages on my iPhone (I'm away working in Norway) only to notice a text my girlfriend sent over the night. The title bar over the message listed her Italian mobile number instead of her name. I thought that odd, only to realize that virtually all of my contacts have disappeared from the iCloud. Even more strange, there appears to be no order, rhyme nor reason, or any form of sense as to what has been deleted. If this (and a few other issues I have with post-Jobs Apple) is indicative of Apple's trajectory, they're not going to be around long. I'm beyond ******-off over this and I'll be thinking very hard about buying Apple products in the future.

I have an iPad 3, iPad Mini and iPhone 5S and they are all sluggish on capitalisation using shift keys. I hope that Apple will solve the problem because it is driving me crazy.
I find using a Microsoft Surface and Windows 8 phone, which I also have, work as well as all the ios devices before the ios 7 upgrade.
It has something to do with the length of time that you need to hold the shift key down. The shift key needs to be held longer than the letter key for the capitalisation to work. For some reason, this is a major change in the way we have learnt to touch type on computers. I am having to relearn how to type!

Mail app problems (duplicating email downloads)

in my Mail app, i am having a problem with receiving "duplicate" emails. i will get an email, and after in downloads to Mail, the "spinning circle" (next to the INBOX icon) keeps on spinning...then a duplicate of the email downloads. to stop the "spinning circle". i have to "force quit" Mail.
i have the option with Road Runner to get emails from their "WebMail" website. when i log-in, i see the email that is duplicating in Mail...plus other emails that has not been downloaded in my Mail application.
if i delete the "duplicating email" in RR Webmail, and launch Mail again, the "other emails" that i see in RR WebMail will download.
and if there are other new emails, the whole scenario will go over again in Mail.
i talked to a Road Runner technician and he tried to find a preference in the Mail app that will allow Mail to give a bit more time for Mail to download emails with larger attachments (2mb and up). he said that Mail is not giving enough time to download the larger emails, so it is "bottlenecking" the large email and other emails after that.
Just wondering if anyone knows about this problem, or if anyone knows if there is a preference in Mail to "extend" the download time for larger-sized emails......

You don't need Adobe AIR to download or install Adobe Reader.
Try downloading the offline installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
