I am running Windows vista 32 bit, have a HP C4380 all in one printer working through wirless network. I changed the wep key and the printer stoped working, when I change the wep key back to old one it works again, I need to change the wep key in the router, how do I get the printer to work under the new wep key.

First, do NOT use WEP - it is not secure. Use WPA or WPA2, however I don't think your printer will recognize WPA2, so go with WPA. You set this in your router and create a password of your liking - use at least a dozen characters - numbers and letters, upper and lower case.
When you get the router set the way you want, go to Start > All Programs > HP > [your printer model] > Printer Setup and Software and run that to re-connect your printer to the "new" network.

Installed WIndows 7 & correct bootcamp drivers, windows will not activate "hot fix" or "Support drivers"

Hello, i hope someone can help,
i have repeated this whole process 3 times already, it has taken 8 strait hours of my time and i still have had no success.
QUICK SUMMERY
To put it simply, After windows is up and running on my mac, the wireless network wont work, so i cannot download the hot fix, and the support driver files from bootcamp will not open because it says they are not "32 Valid" ?. But im using a 64bit disk.
The wireless network adaptor automatically doesn't work on windows right after installation,
so i had to load the Hot Fix onto an SD card along with the bootcamp drivers, then open the hotfix file in windows.
The first time i was able to install the fix, windows restarted and installed the update, logged back on... and nothing changed.
At that point i attempted to open the "Setup" file in the bootcamp support folder, and an error message came up saying it wasn't valid.
LONGER EXPLANATION OF MY COMPLETE PROCESS: (to cancel out any questions)
i was able to find my support driver from here:

its some old fashion coded page that has a bunch of apple drivers you can download by pasting one of the codes in your browser,
i searched for bootcamp support drivers, and found the code for my exact model (Mac Pro 8,2)
i was able to manually downloaded the drivers instead of using bootcamp assistant.
As a side note,
i was able to download the bootcamp drivers via boot camp assistant after the 5th try,
so now i have both files that i know are supposed to work 100%. they are loaded and unzipped on an SD card like they are supposed to be for when i open windows.
I have a Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium x64 bit CD from the inlaws so i used that CD after i partitioned my drive in bootcamp.

once windows was finished installing,
it automatically would not detect a network card, so i couldn't connect to the internet and download the apples bug fix. (The Hot fix)
instead i downloaded the hot fix on a separate SD card, turned windows back on and loaded the hot fix from the SD card.
Windows installed the hot fix update, restarted, but nothing changed.
Ive even tried skipping right to uploading the drivers, and windows wont activate the support because it says its not "32 Valid"
I completely removed windows 7 vis bootcamp to rinse and repeat hoping i made a simple mistake, but no same thing happened.
Conclusion
-im Wondering if i should "Istall important Windows Updates" during the begining of windows preperation...
maybe that will fix the issues of it not reconizing wierless network, and not being able to upen up the bootcamp file?
(it says you are not supposed to install any windows updates untill the HOT FIX and BOOTCAMP SUPPORT is activated on windows)

Just for your information, as it doesn't seem you have ever used BC.
When starting the boot camp assistant the first thing it want to do is download the Windows Support drivers and asks you to save them to a DVD, it will also allow you to save them to your OS X hard drive or to any drive connected to the system. Once those drivers are downloaded it then starts the Win install. What you must do is copy those support drives to a media that Windows can See and Read from. Like a DVD or a thumb drive formatted FAT32
No where in the OPs post does he say anything about fooling with any partitions on his internal drive other then creating the BC partition.
His problem is he saved those support files to a Mac OS X formatted external drive. Windows can not read Mac Extended (Journaled) formatted drives. So he can't load the drivers for Windows until he copies those support files ove to something that Windows can read.

Wireless bridge to LW 12/640 via Airport Express/ethernet?

We recently switched to FiOS, which means they installed their own wireless router and created a new network. I want to keep printing to my trusty 12/640 PS laserwriter, but it's not really feasible to run a cable to the new router, which is now on a different floor. I've tried without success to configure and use an Airport Express (not Extreme) in "bridge" or "client" mode to extend the network but the system message keeps saying the new network cannot be extended. I thought I would then use a new 3rd party router to set up a separate wierless network just for the printer...but the fellow at the local Apple store said that the Express cannot connect with a printer at all via Ethernet, only USB.
Will a USB-to-Ethernet adapter do the trick? If so, do they come in differnt configurations that I shoulsd watch for?
Or is there some other way to get this to work short of spending money I do not have on still more hardware?
Or am I reduced to drilling a hole in the floor?

The LaserWriter 12/640PS is an Ethernet Level 2 Printer with built-in LPD/LPR. Once it assigned an Ethernet Address, it can stand by itself as Network device.
The Verizon router is on the first floor; the printer and my own (currently-unused) router (whether the Airport Express or the new SMC) are both in the basement, within probably 12 feet of one another. There is no computer down there; we have an iMac on the first floor and another on the second floor. One of those was once next to the printer, and I did assign it a hard-coded IP address at that time which let me run an Ethernet cable between the router and the printer.
So I suppose the issue ultimately comes down to how to get the printer to be available on the network (whether Verizon's or a home-grown one) short of drilling a hole in the floor, which will make domestic bliss rather less blissful. If this is not possible then I will have to accept that and either drill the hole as inconspicuously as possible or scrounge some quarters from under the sofa cushions for a newer machine, but I really hate to have to do that...plus there really aren't any, I looked. Network planning

I do quite a bit of video editing with BIG files so I'm planning on going all gigabit. I have 1 laptop that I wanna go wierlessly with, 4 different desktops, with probably more later on, that I want to physicaly hook up with wires though a router. One of those computer will be a central file server that will hold files that all of the other computers can access. I also want to hook up a printer and scanner to the file server that all the computers can use and access over the network and use. Another reson as to why I wanna go all gigabit is that another one of those desktop is gonna be a personal tv dvr machine. I plan on saving all the files it makes from recording over the network and onto the servers harddrives. I know recording tv takes up harddrive space extreamly fast but interal harddrive space gets limited so i wanna use those massive external harddrives but my question is will transfering files to that through usb2.0 be fast enought transferrates for recording tv? Plus I also have game consoles that need connecting to the internet. I'm also concerned about security. Would it be best to just put a local firewall on each computer or would there be a better more secure way? Also going from my current ethernet netowork will I have to upgrade from cat 5 to cat 6 wires? I'v built small lil 2 and 3 computer networks but nothing as big as or as complex as this one and really need some input from someone that has more knowledge.
I was planning on buying a gigabit wiresless n linksys router. I was thinking about buying two switches one for all my consoles to hook into. And one for all the computers to hook into. But I though switches only allowed one connection on the switch to be directly connected to the internet at a particular time. Like I said I'm not extreamly educated when it comes to networks and really going into new territory here so again any help would be gratly appreciated.

Network devices which you’ve mentioned would work for your network setup, transfer rate would be faster on USB 2.0 on external hard drive, as far security concerns you may enable personal firewall on computers however router would be having internal firewall system including DoS, SPI and NAT features… try using CAT6 cables.

Small office network

Hi there,
I want to install/move our office over the weekend and have some lose ends, which i hope can be answered in this forum.
First, let me start off mentioning what i intend to do:
we have three (airport enabled) iMacs sitting in the middle of our office.
At the far end of the office we have the DSL modem, a Gigabit Ethernet Switch, the airport extreme station.
At the other end of the office, I have a HP Color LaserJet (networkable) and a PowerMac G5 1.8GhZ DP (has an airport card installed).
I would like to have the three iMacs connected to the Internet, the Printer and the G5 PowerMac (which will serve as a server). I go about that by connecting the Modem with a jumper cable to the Gigabit switch, as well as the Ethernet cable (regular ONE-WAY) from the printer and the G5 into the Gigabit Switch, I assume. Then I lead one Ethernet Cable from the Gigabit Switch into the airport station, so that an (optional) laptop could access all of teh attached goodies.
Eeventhough the iMacs are airport enabled, I would rather have the option of having them hardwired as well (for speed reasons). I just plug those ethernet cables inside the Gigabit Switch as well?
Thats the technical part.
Now a question about the PowerMac G5. Everyone on the network needs to access files which I will store on the G5, such as photo library and some word and xls documents. Can i just make everything shareable?

It sounds like you have it right - if you're using wired ethernet connections just connect everything back to the switch.
For the base station, make sure it's running in bridge rather than route mode - using AirPort Admin Utility, turn off the 'distribute IP addresses' option.
As for the file sharing, I wouldn't share the entire drive, but designate one folder (or folders) as being shared. If this is running Mac OS X client (vs. Server) get a copy of SharePoints which will make it easy to select which folders are available for sharing.
Unless you're also running as a directory server you'll also need to make sure that the G5 has an account for everyone that is going to log onto it to access the shared folders. You could use one common account, but that's not recommended.

Cannot send email from outlook 2011 (Mac) on public networks but can send via Mac Mail

I cannot send mail with Outlook from anywhere other than my work or home network, will not work even when accessing 4g with my phone hotspot; very frustrating. I am using Yosemite & Macbook Pro (2012). if i use the Apple Mail everything works fine so I can only assume it is a setting on Outlook?

Update - I now have it working.
am not really sure what exactly fixed it.
I changed a lot of things but my setup now has the following which I think fixed.
outgoing server - p06-smtp.mail.me.com
override default port checked - port now 587
on more options button changed it to "use incoming server info".

Network Cable unplugged

I have BT Total Broadband Anywhere Home Hub 2. I have used it successfully on my desktop pc and wirelessly with my laptop. However I went away for 2 months and was unable to use either (everything was switched off whilst away). On my return the laptop can't connect at all, I just get two grey monitors with a red X and the information 'A Network Cable is unplugged'. I bought a netbook when away and am having the same problem with that now.
On the laptop that worked before, on my Network Connections it is showing as follows:
Local Area Connection 2
Network cable unplugged
Broadcom 440 x 10/100 Integrated Controller
1394 Connection 2
Connected
1394 Net Adapter #2

I am getting desperate as I cannot sit at the desktop for any length of time and need the laptop, please can anyone help?

Hi, the devices you have mentioned are the 'wired' connections. On most laptops, there are switched you can press to turn on and off wireless, is it posisble this has been done?
You can check to see if 'wireless network' appears by selecting the Start Button, then click on Control Panel and open, you should see 'Network' (doing this by memory) and open that up, you will see Wired Lan and Wireless Lan.
If Wireless Lan is disabled, you can right click on wireless lan and enable it, that should work.

AIO remote app (IOS) did not recognize my network printer (Deskjet 3050), other apps (printer pro lite) did recognize the printer flawlessly, both the printer and the iphone are in the same network, I can print from my PC and my mac but not from AIO remote app (not even recognize the printer).
Can you help me?

With the Printer Pro Lite app working to printer, this is excellent to hear. Although this is not an HP app. So to explain as to why the AiO Remote app is not recognizing your printer, and not being able to scan. Your printer does not have AirPrint capabilities according to the 'HP Deskjet 3050 (J610) and 3050A (J611) All-in-One Printer Series Product Specifications'. AirPrint is a requirement for the HP AiO Remote app to work, and because the printer does not have AirPrint the app can not see the printer.

Well thats my problem, I tried Fing and it sees the printer, tried ePrint free and it prints like a charm, but AIO does not even see my printer on my network (and yes my printer is in the same network as my mobile device is) I can print from my PC (windows 7) and my MAC (leopard) but I cant print from my iphone 4 using your app. I did the direct connect and it works but I need the network connect instead.
Am I missing something here?

I have Lumia 1520 and Lumia 920 smartphones both is connect to this same wifi network like printer, but You app on both Lumias cant find printer, again but no problem is to connect to printer WEB interface from this both Lumias, so wifi network is correct configured.
I have two tablet more in this same wifi network, both with windows 8.1 x64 systems, on this, You Windows 8 modern App AIO Remote find this same printer without problem...
So what is wrong ? printer config ? eprint is on, ipp is on, bonjur is on, ip is static.
Please help Me becease I wait for this app and now i cant use them

The Photosmart 7150 printer only supports USB connectivity, I have include the Photosmart 7150 Printer Specifications for reference. To be able to use the HP AiO Remote app the printer needs to be connected to a wireless network.
If you accidentally typed the incorrect printer model, please let me know which make/model/product number of HP printer that you have. How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?

Google Play on Tablet works on WIFI not Verizon network.

I have an Motorola Ellipsis Tablet. I am unable to use Google Player. When I open the app, I get "Background data disable. Google play store needs background data to be enabled." I hit enable and It asks me to choose either Facebook or Gmail. I choose my email account and it tries to sync and I get the message "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly." Everything works fine when I am on WIFI at home but when I get to work and I'm on the Verizon network it won't work. I can't use Pandora or look at video. Can someone help me figure out why it is not working on the Verizon network? Thanks.

Oh my! Let's get you back to enjoying your device. Some applications depend upon background data (transferring data when not directly in use). Restricting background data may cause those apps to stop functioning unless a Wi-Fi connection is available. To uncheck Restrict background data in the Google Play application, follow the directions in the link http://vz.to/1f5KM7b .

IPad iOS 8.1 Mail constant network use draining battery

Since updating to iOS 8.1, iPad Mail is rapidly draining my battery. When I go into Mail the network usage indicator (spinning wheel) runs constantly. I left it this way by mistake while traveling and it drained the whole battery with minimal actual usage in one day -- I usually only have to recharge every 2-3 days.
I have checked the battery usage indicator in Settings and it shows that in the last 24 hours Mail used 54% of the battery. I had changed no settings, but went into Mail & Calendar settings and double-checked them, and they were as they had always been. I have three email accounts: Gmail, Verizon, and a company account on an Exchange server. It's the only one that was set to Push, but now I've set it to Fetch like the others and it still continuously accesses the network when I'm in Mail.
This must be a bug of some kind introduced by a recent OS or app update, right? This never happened before, and nothing else has changed in my usage of the iPad or Mail.
One other issue: Mail is not actually fetching new mail when it should. I see new mail show up on Mac Mail hours before it appears on the iPad. Normally email would arrive almost simultaneously on my iPhone and iPad, then a moment later on the Mac. Now the phone is still first, but the iPad lags. The only way I can get the iPad to refresh in real time is to close the app and restart it.
Is anyone else seeing this behavior with the recent update? Any idea how to fix it?

I tried that and it didn't work. As for upgrading the ASA version, I'd like to but this is an old router and I don't have a support contract with Cisco anymore, so I can't access the latest firmware.
