Wife wants her own account

So we've been rockin' my iTunes account for … well, since ever, I suppose. Sharing is super easy; whatever I buy for my iPhone she gets for her iPod Touch. Get a great productivity app for my iMac from the Mac App Store, it appears on her Macbook Pro. And vice versa. So… many… books… It's all peaches and kittens over here!
Recently (and we're talking last weekend, here), I upgraded my 3+ year old 3G to a 4S (hold your applause, please). I gotz Facetime now and all my apps actually work again. And, wait for it, Game Center! The wife's iPod has schooled my phone in everything but being able to make phone calls (through a cellular service). No more, I say!
She now wants to have her own account so she can interact with me via Game Center as well as use Facetime and what have you. [NOTE: Odd thing about Facetime with our devices, currently. Because my phone has a number to call, she can initiate a Facetime session with me from her iPod—I, however, can not initiate as it always cycles back to the very phone I am using and, thusly, says I'm busy. Wacky!]
Of course, she wants to keep all her books and the like that she's downloaded/purchased. I can only take so many health tracking apps… If she creates a new account, she'd lose all the shtuff. Tonight she made a Game Center account and quite a few items just vanished from her iPod.
Is there anyway to transfer purchases from one account to another? My initial guess is "No" as the purchases are tied to one account; I am just not sure if there's some nifty transfer of sorts for this type of scenario.

I'm afraid that you can't use this address. Aliases cannot be moved to another account, nor turned into a full account, and once deleted cannot be reactivated. Sorry; but you will have to create a new address when you open a new iCloud account for her.

  • Husband with iCloud account and alias e-mail for wife. Now wife got her own account and wants her e-mail address.

    Hi there,
i have an icloud account and punt an alias for my wife in there. ([email protected])
Now she got her own iPhone and her own iCloud accout and would like to have her e-mail address on her own icloud account.
I have deleted the alias but icloud still says the address is in use. Is there any way for her to get her own e-mail address on her account?! ([email protected])
Do we just have to wait until icloud recognize that this address isn't an alias anymore?
Ohh my god! I need help...please

  • Can two or more devices use the same Apple  account with different cell phone numbers. I want to use FaceTime on a my 5s and my wife wants her own FaceTime on a new iPad Air with its own cell number but be linked with me with iCloud to share music

I have a 5s with an apple account and wife has a iPad air with its own cell number. Does the iPad need it's own apple account to use it's own phone number so her FaceTime calls are not sent to my phone. We want to be able to link each device to iCloud and share music, photos, ect. iPad iMessage and FaceTime have my cell number activated.

  • I have an Itunes account on my wife's computer; but now she wants her own Itunes account on this same computer.  How do I do that?

How can I set up a second Itunes account on the same computer.  I have my Itunes account on my wifes computer and she wants her own Itunes account on this same computer.    Since it's her computer and her Windows log on account, I don't want her to have to log in as someone else.   I have my Itunes account on my own computer...it looks like I might have to take Itunes off her machine (delete the whole program) and then reload with an entirely new account?

Of course you will want to back up through iTunes.   Because you're using the same computer and you don't your wife to use a different login, the only other option is that you will need to create a separate user account (in Windows) on that computer, open iTunes, and restore from the back up.   The two libraries will be separate through the user profile of Windows.    If you had a Mac it would be the same, because you just simply can't have two iTunes libraries coexist under the same user account at the same time.

    Hi,
Are you talking about changing the Apple ID used for purchases in iTunes? If so go to 'Settings->iTunes & App Store-> then 'tap' on the Apple ID that appears and click Sign Out on menu that appears. You can now login with a different Apple ID.

  • My wife and I share an iTunes account, if I create her own account can she still access all the music and apps we have purchased together over the years?

My wife and I have been sharing an iTunes accound and library on our own iPods then iPhones for years without much trouble. Now, Mai ly because of the cloud and a new desktop, I think it's time to create her own account but I don't want to have to repurchase all her music and apps. Is this poosible?
    Thanks!

Yes, with the credentials of the account that the media/content was purchased with.
Content is permanently tied to the account it is purchased with and cannot be merged, moved, or transferred to another account.

  • Until now, my daughter has used my apple ID and account. She now wants her own iD and account but doesn't want to lose her downloads - is this possible and how?

What we want to do is retain each of our respective downloads whilst allowing for a future separation of the account. She has an iPod touch and I have an iPad. Currently she uses my account but wants her own and frankly I don't want many of her downloads. How do we separate?

Starting a new account does not erase anything.
There is no such thing as "separating" content.  Give her a copy of the entire library, and let her delete whatever she does not want.  Meanwhile, you can delete any of her stuff from your original library.

  • My daughter wants her own itunes account.  will she lose everything from my account?

My daughter wants her own itunes account.  Will she lose everything from our shared account?

    Hi Randy,
John is correct, there is no true "sharing" it's more like right of use, but she can still use all the stuff she has from your account on her device, it's just a little tricky. My daughter has had her own account for over a year but she had used my account before that. She has her own iPod, Macbook Pro, and now she just bought her own iPhone.
It had never been a big deal to her until she got her phone because she has to use only her account, my e-mail and stuff she does not need on her phone. So use Home Sharing on your computer with her login and her login on her device. The biggest question is are you using two computers or one? With just a single computer it may make it harder because you really have no way of home sharing (I may stand correctly by someone else though). With two computers you just setup home sharing, login to both iTunes accounts with her login, use her computer (or the second computer) and drag all the stuff over to that iTunes library, music, apps, etc. Then they will be on her computer. Then she just drags them on to her iOS device. They will copy and she can use them.
There is no way around updates though. They can only be updated with the original account, which I believe why John stated use iTunes Plus first, because the will not play at all under a different account login. The only advantage that my daughter wanted to use this for was progress on games, so she wouldn't have to start over. Most of our stuff are free downloads so it was not even a repurchase issue as much as time on a game issue.
If you use only one computer, it should work the same way but I have not tried it so I can not say for sure. Logout of you account name and drag the stuff to her iOS device.

  • If I set up Family Sharing and add my wife, can she still make purchases on her own accountß

I am considering setting up Family Sharing for may family. I would be the organizer. If I add my wife, would she still be able to make purchases on her own account, or would all purchases be made on my account?

Purchases would be made to her apple account, but to your credit card. She can also add itunes gift card to her account (appleid) and her gift card will be charged first.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Unfortunately, if Apple simply allowed people to log into different accounts and download content, everyone would be using everyone could share everyone else's content and bypass the need to purchase anything. To protect against this, they limit you to logging into a new account to once every 90 days.
If two or more of you, have different accounts and use only one computer, you should each have your own user account on the computer, to avoid the need to log in and out of iTunes.

  • How do I set up my child's new ipod touch with separate apple id, so we don't share apps and music? says she is too young for her own account.

Bought my 9 year old an ipod touch last night. Tried to set it up with her own account and her own Apple Id, so we do not share apps and music. It tells me she does not meet age requirement to have her own id. Tried to set it up on computer, and my music transferred to her new ipod. Help.

You will have to set up the account in your name and supervise its use. The birthday you specify has to result in an age of at 13 years.

  • HT201269 Hi. I have shared an Apple ID with my children for some time.  As they are getting older they do not wnat me seeing all their messages, photos etc so want their own accounts.  How can they access their purchased music and apps on the new account

Hi. I have shared an Apple ID with my children for some time.  As they are getting older they do not wnat me seeing all their messages, photos etc so want their own accounts.  How can they access their purchased music and apps on the new account please?

    Yes.
On their iOS devices, under Settings>iTunes & App Store, they should use your Apple ID. When they log into iCloud, iMessage and Facetime, they should use their personal Apple IDs.
