Let me see if I can find how to reset your router. I think it's the same as mine actually. Your router is a pretty good router. I think with the settings I suggest to you you will get your PlayBook to connect reliably.
Also, when you get into your router, make sure your firmware is the most recent. Update it if you have to.

  • Trouble with D-Link Router

I have been having all kinds of issues with a D-Link WIFI router in my house. I am having to reset it on a regular basis. But the funny thing is that my mom who uses Leopard is not having a problem in the world with it. The problems I am having is that I am unable to get a connection after a period of time (sometimes a day or two of usage).
The funny thing about all this is that at home in my house I use a D-Link router (another type) and have used the Apple airport base station and have had no problems at all. Why I am having problems with this router is beyond me. Our WiFI network is insecure (its okay as we live in the sticks). I am clueless. My only guess is a incompatibility between Snow Leopard and this particular D-Link router.

So, at this point, I'm confused as to whether you have a problem (or not); if so, you'd need to share some info about the model and whether it is "g" or "n" rated. If you're not having a problem, I don't understand your post.

  • Why is my iPhone 5's iMessage not working in wifi connection consistently? (wifi works with apps/web no issues)

My iPhone 5 (newly updated to 6.0.2) will not send messages in iMessage all the time-very inconsistent.  The wifi works with my phone when I use apps/search the web with no issues all of the time.  For an unspecified time span, iMessage will sometimes send and receive messages, but for the most part will give me the error message: Message Send Failure.  My iMessage & facetime is activated on my device for my phone and email addresses. I am in another country currently and solely rely on wifi for my connection and have turned off my data.  I have toggled my wifi, turned off my phone, and reset my phone and still haven't had any luck.  Any help is greatly appreciated as to why my phone is having these issues in a perfectly fine working wifi connection. (another iPhone 5 user has no issues in the wifi)

Have you tried a complete reset/restore iOS 7?
Back up your iPhone to iCloud and/or iTunes.
Open iTunes and make sure you have the latest version (11.1).
Plug your iPhone into your computer.
On the Summary screen, click Restore next to (Check for Updates). This will reset your phone to factory settings and reinstall iOS 7.
After iOS 7 has been reinstalled, you can restore your back up from iCloud or iTunes.

  • Laserwriter 8500 - networking with D-link router

    Hi,
I've just changed my router to a D-link DI-524 and can't get my Laserwriter 8500 to work with it. It was fine with the Netgear Router I used to have.
I'm running a MacBook with OS X 10.5.6, and the printer driver is v.3010.103.
I tried some of the advice on other threads but when I go to Printer/Fax prefs and click 'Default', nothing shows up and the 'Add' Button is dimmed. Tried the IPP setting but didn't really know what I was doing.
    Help!
    Thanks,
    Debbie
PS this was the reason I bought this router, so that I could network the printer.

That is a printer than can print as either an Appletalk printer or an LPR/LPD printer (also called an IP Printer). The easiest way to change printer parameters is with Apple printer Utility. If you do not have a Mac that can run Classic, you cannot run Apple Printer Utility, and may be stuck with Telnet to change printer parameters.
To set it up as an Appletalk printer, you must turn on AppleTalk on your Mac, which is accomplished in:
    System Preferences > Network > (your active network interface) {Ethernet or Airport}
(Turning Appletalk on for one interface may give you a message that you are turning AppleTalk off on a different Network Interface; not a problem.)
Then you need to use Printer Setup and deliberately choose AppleTalk as the connection method -- I do not think default will suffice. (No AppleTalk Zones are involved.) If your printer is turned on, ready, and cabled in, it should appear within a quarter minute.
Some Routers, especially less popular brands, may not support AppleTalk packets transmitted over wireless.
That printer can also be set up as an IP Printer. To run it as an IP Printer, it must have an IP address in the same subnet as your current Router. \[Post back if you do not understand what that means.]
The discussion referenced below has some information that may apply. The original Poster was trying to set up the printer as an IP Printer, then wanted to change to a different Router using a different Internet Service Provider:

  • Airport Express with D-Link router?

I bought an Airport Express with the specific purpose of connecting an old 1999 iMac to the internet (D-Link wireless router) via the ethernet port. I also thought I could use it to connect other ethernet devices such as my HD-DVD player.
I tried to configure the Express with my PowerBook to discover later in the instructions that the ethernet port is disabled when configuring the unit as wireless bridge/client. It sounds odd, becuase I can't understand the use of it, then. The range extender configuration which enables ethernet, apparently only works with an Airport base station. I admit I'm not very networking-savvy. Did I do something wrong? Am I understanding the instructions correctly?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, most non-AirPort routers are not compatible with Apple's implementation of Wireless Distribution System (WDS)...so it very unlikely that your D-Link router can be extended wirelessly with the AirPort Express Base Station (AX).
The few that are known to work are:
o another Airport Express Base Station
o 802.11g Airport Extreme Base Station (AEBS)
o 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn)
    o Linksys WRT54G or WRT54GS (not v5)
    o Belkin F5D7230-4 and F5D7231
    o BT Voyager 2091
    o Netgear WGR614 v6
    o Buffalo WGR-G54

  • Problems using iBook OS X 10.2.8 with D-link router

I have a 6 year old iBook OS X 10.2.8 and I can't connect to the internet using a D-link router DIR-655. The password for the router is not recognized by my iBook. I am using the airport card. Please help...

    Hello agaben99,
First of all, Welcome to the  Discussion forums!
I may be wrong, I am not an expert with regards to using wireless/routers but I think the minimum system requirements might be 10.4 +.
Minimum System Requirements: Computer with: Windows XP SP2 or Mac OS X (v10.4). Internet Explorer v6 or Mozilla Firefox v1.5. CD-ROM Drive. Network Interface Card. For Internet Access: Cable or DSL Modem. Subscription with an Internet Service Provider (ISP).
    hope that helps some,

  • Upgraded to Tiger no internet with D-Link router

I have a D-Link router that worked great in Jaguar. I upgraded to Tiger and now I can't access the internet. I'm using an Airport card, I can see the SSID and it claims I'm connected in System Preferences / Networking but I can't get webpages to come up.
When I plug a cable into the router and to my Mac I can access the internet no problem.
I have a cable modem and it's all setup to work with DHCP. It worked fine in Jaguar but I can't get online with Tiger.
Anyone have any ideas what I can do to get back online? Thanks.

See message #2 in that discussion, posted by someone named "Christian". The "hack" involves downloading a zipped file containing two older MacOS system software files from Christian's web site (but you can copy them off any Mac that hasn't been updated with Airport 4.2), and use these two files to replace ones that were installed by Airport 4.2.

  • Using the Airport Express as an Extender with D-link router

I just received an Airport Express as a Christmas gift and am having trouble setting it up with the D-Link N router that I have. I have searched all of the internets and have not found anything confirming whether or not these two items are compatible with each other; some people say they are, some say otherwise- I thought I would ask the experts.
I plugged in the express and tried to set it up, but when it asks what base station it needs to connect to, it won't recognize the D-Link router (I know that the D-Link router isn't a base station).
Is there anyway to make the express I have extend my wireless network?

    They are not.
There are very few Routers that are WDS compatible.
Very few can be used to extend a Network.
If you use all Airport Products then you can extend.

  • Macbook Pro 15" (late 2013) - Cant get proper 802.11ac WiFi-speed. Mac or router issue?

    Hey
Im from Norway and just bought the 2013 Macbook Pro Retina 15 inch. My router is an Asus RT-AC66U, which should be capable of 1.3 Gbps connection speeds. When i connect my mac to this router on a 5 GHz network with N+AC only mode, i only get a link speed of about 200Mbps, often lower aswell. I was under the impression that you should get the theoretical maximum speed of the 802.11x youre using, as link speed. When i go to "about this mac"-"system report"-WiFi" it clearly says that im connected with 802.11ac. Why do i get such a low transmission rate? Its a problem with bootcamp aswell (Windows 8.1), which leads me to belive that the router mighth be the issue?

It seems that i have found a solution to the problem, but at the same time encountered a new one. The router was the problem. I live in an apartment building with many other students, and there are tons of other WiFi signals from other apartments. The router was in N+AC (there doesnt seem to be an AC only mode as of now?), and the signal strenght was around -40dB (Macbook placed three meters from router with no obstacles in the way). I downloaded a program called inSSIDer for Office and scanned all the network and associated channels and it turned out the router hadn't exactly choosen the optimal channel. When I changed the channel to a less populated one (44), the link-speed suddenly jumped from around 200 to a little over 1000 Mbps. I really didnt know just how sensitive to interferrence WiFi truly is.
The strange thing in windows though is that even though the linkspeed is great (i get much lower link-speeds in Windows, 400-600 (seems to be stuck at 802.11n in windows) compared to 800-1300 in OSX) i max out at 30 Mbps download (speedtest.net), while upload speeds remains unaffected at 94 Mbps (100/100 Mbps subscription). And when I turn on automatic channel selection on the router the link speed goes down to about 200 again (because of the interference issue), but the download speeds go up to 94 Mbps. This is not an issue in OSX, so maybe its an Windows Boradcom driver issue or something?

  • Macbook Pro Problems with D-Link Router

My router D-link (Dl-624+A, model available in Asia) 802.11g/2.4 Ghz wireless router serves a G5 iMac, a G4 Aluminum Powerbook plus a Windows laptop and desktop. We have never experienced any problems with the network.
I have recently bought a 17" Macbook Pro 2.4 Ghz laptop (intel MBP) and have not been able, in any combination of modes, to join the network. A dialogue box simply says that there was an error trying to join the network.
I have no problems joining other wireless networks around town its so easy, just the one at home is the problem.
What is going on? Is there a fix? Thanks

Hi, my MacBook Pro can't connect to my D-Link DSL-G604T router via wireless too.
Airport can see my wireless connection and asks for the WEP password to connect. I put the password key in and an error pops up saying it cannot connect. I can connect via an Ethernet cable. Also, my previous system PowerBook G4 is able to connect via to the router via wireless, hence there is nothing wrong with my network.
Based on the suggestions from other threads, I tried to set my security to WPA instead of WEP. However, after I set my security to WPA, and tried to connect to my wireless network, the AirPort popup only gives me 4 options for the Wireless Security:
    WEP Password
    WEP 40/128-bit hex
    WEP 40/128-bit ASCII
    LEAP
There isn't an option to use WPA. Can anyone advise?

  • Routing Experts please help with below LAN routing issue with NAT

    Hello Experts,
I have a weird situation and requirement.
    The existing setup is -
We have email/ticketing server hosted in the LAN which is reachable on the publicly NAT'ed IP with respective port numbers of 89 & 443. We have LAN & servers on the same subnet. The internet is with public DHCP IP assigned by ISP (/29). We use linksys router GUI for NAT settings (attached). We are using the same public IP for the server NAT & user NAT.
We tried to refresh our network by separating the subnets for LAN users & servers. We used the Cisco 3845 router to create sub-interfaces in the LAN and configure respective subnets. Now both user subnet and server subnet are connecting to the Internet with same public IP (static NAT for servers & dynamic for users). We can connect to the server IP from the Internet and it resolves fine. However user LAN subnet cannot connect to the server if we try the URL. Users can access the Internet fine.
Please find attached short diagram and below configuration and please give your inputs to solve this.

One more thing I should clarify the route I am putting into the 10.10.1.9 server is
route add 10.1.6.0 mask 255.255.255.0 10.10.1.250 which tells the server to bypass the ASA and go directly to the ISP router.(then i can successfully tracert everything).  The big question here is how to make the inside ASA connection 10.10.1.1 to force all traffic to 10.10.1.250.
    Thanks in advance.

  • What does the wifi sybol with the link on top of it mean?

I can't get my iPhone personal hotspot to work anymore. The sybol on my MacBook is not the usual wifi symbol but it now has a link on top of it. What is that please, and how can I get it to go away and get my tethering to work again?

If you switch of the display of the AVG toolbar, is it still there? To switch toolbars on and off, you can right-click a blank area of the tab bar or right-click the new tab (+) button.
If it is not part of that bar, is it in the "notification area" of the address bar? When applicable, this will appear to the left of the globe/padlock icon that indicates whether you have a regular or secure connection. To get an description of a notification icon, you can click it and a panel should appear below it.

  • Computer tend to freeze when accessing internet with D-Link dir-655 router

I recently bought a D-Link dir-655 router and since then my computer tend to freeze up completely when accessing internet. This also happens when certain programs access internet. Otherwise I am usually using Internet Explorer or Opera.
I've found that there are many who experience problems with D-Link router, that they may have problems with certain network card. Anyone who can say if this is a known issues and if it there is a solution or if it is better to buy another router?

    Hi, Ernst:
Would you consider backing up your files and doing a system recovery?
Maybe the OS has some corrupt registry files or something.
If you recover and then it still does that, your only choice looking at the motherboard is a PCIe gigabit ethernet adapter which would be relatively easy to install, or you could even get a USB ethernet adapter and not even have to open the case.
See if there is a setting to disable the onboard NIC if you have to add a network card.
I would rule out all software problems before buying hardware.
If you want to try some other malware program, I recommend the free Kapersky rescue disk. You burn the file to a CD and boot from it.  It scans the drive and deletes any malware or virus files it finds without the PC being in windows. A lot of times viruses and malware can't be removed when windows is running.
Link to the download and instuctions for use is below. I like to use the graphic interface rather than the text interface.

  • Slow WiFi Connection With New Router TP-Link W8960N

    Hi Apple Support,
A few weeks ago I've purchased a TP-Link TD-W8960N wireless modem router so that I can share my WiFi internet with the following devices:
~ iMac running Snow Leopard OSX Version 10.6.7
    ~ iPhone
    ~ iPad
    ~ Mini-PC / Home Theatre PC (Running Windows 7)
At first my iMac wouldn't connect to the WiFi, but after changing it to Channel 11. My iMac successfully joined the WiFi Network.
But the past week my iPhone & iPad whenever I browse the internet it would respond very quickly.
But my iMac and Windows PC, some websites they would respond quick and several other websites it would not respond at all and takes such a long time to bring up the website.
    I'm on a ADSL2 broadband connection.
    Mac OSX version 10.6.7...
I tried also updating the router firmware...
    My Current WiFi settings are:
    Channel: 11
    Mode: 11bgn (and I've also tried 11b, 11bg, and 11n only)
Bandwidth: 20Mhz (the other option is 40Mhz)
    Fragmentation Threshold: 2346
    RTS Threshold: 2347
    DTIM Interval: 1
    Beacon Interval: 100
    Transmit Power: 100%
    Wi-Fi Multimedia: Disabled
Any ideas would be greatly apprecatied...

If you have one computer running on G they will all run on G. All ROUTERS are backward compatible, in otherwords if you have a group of computers and all of them are N compatible and one or two are G They will all work but the N computers will run at N and those that are G will run at G speed not N.
It can get confusing but really it is simple. The newest is 802.11 AC and ic used with the newest Mac Computers made available in November 2013. So if you have the newest Airport Extreme that is 802.11ac and the newest computers that are AC compliant your speed will be 5 times faster than anything on the market right now.
