Wifi 802.11n missing? Also the multitasking Any App Any Time is misleading.

All the reviews I read were saying the 4G was supposed to have 802.11N but my new 4G that I just got this morning only sees my 54G network and not the N network. Bummer. Was hoping Wifi would be faster than my old 3G but unless I can't find somewhere to activate this speed I guess those were all false rumors.
Oh and I really don't see any multitasking in my 3rd party apps like the iPhone 4G Apple page says - they say Any app, any time. All my 3rd party apps do is restart when I switch back and forth to them. I don't call that multitasking but rather just a smart shortcut bar that merely remembers the most recent apps I used. Maybe its app dependent, but they shouldn't claim Any App Any Time if it isn't true.

You must put the 2.4Ghz network with the N as well. It might be only running b/g.
What I did at home was set up AEBS to use 5GHZ to my Mac, and 2.4GHZ for other deviced b/g and N.
The iPad was on the 5GHz as well but somehow (a bug maybe) the 2.4GHz seems better for it as well. Can't explain that.. gave up and 2.4GHZ N it's working fine

What is the better Connection on Apple TV v2, Ethernet or Wifi 802.11n????
Does not support with ethernet gigabit?

If you have stable wifi with good connectivity it should work fine - in reality many people struggle with wifi.
I was plagued by interference issues with wifi whenever the microwave was used and would always use ethernet now as my first preference for stability.
As the house is not wired for ethernet several years ago I tried mains powerline network adapters that are made by many companies.
I use these from Devolo currently:
    http://www.devolo.co.uk/consumer/81_dlan-500-avmini_starter-kit_product-pictures _8.html?l=en
They are excellent and you can create a wired network in minutes without running long lengths of cable.
As with wifi they never achieve the highest rated speeds and are dependent on the wiring quality but are more than adequate for HD streaming to multiple AppleTVs.
Many other manufacturers produce these eg Belkin, Netgear etc as well as lesser known brands.

    Hey Hisheroisgonex,
Thanks for the question, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
If the track is no longer in your iTunes Library, you can re-download using the information in this article:

  • 802.11n update for the iMac

I have a 20" 2 GHz Intel Core Duo iMac w/2 GB RAM 667 MHz.
I bought and am trying to install the 802.11n upgrade to run and it tells me "your computer doesn't meet the hardware requirements".
    I have the latest firmware.
Apple's website states "If you have a Mac with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor (except the 17-inch, 1.83GHz iMac) or a Mac Pro with AirPort Extreme, you can enable it to access an 802.11n wireless network using the AirPort Extreme 802.11n Enabler software."
    So it should work.
Is there anyone that can give me a clue?

Contact Apple by phone, using the number on the online Apple Store web page. If you explain nicely, they will probably credit the $2 back. I believe the only reason they are charging that $2 is because there is some accounting rule that says if a significant new feature is added to a product that was previously not advertised, the business must charge a fee for it (or something to that effect - I'm not an accountant). Apple is not trying make a profit from this updater.

  • ¿Tengo wifi 802.11n o 802.11b?

    Gracias

I think I found my answer here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4199
Apple is still beyond this tech!
Routers that support 802.11n should be configured for 802.11a/n mode for maximum speed and compatibility. Routers that only support 802.11a can be left in 802.11a mode. Different Wi-Fi routers support different radio modes, so the exact setting will vary depending on the Wi-Fi router in use. In general, enable support for all modes. Devices will then automatically select the fastest commonly supported mode to communicate. Note that choosing a subset of the available modes will prevent older devices from connecting (for example, 802.11a devices will be unable to connect to a Wi-Fi router in 802.11n-only mode). In addition, choosing a subset of the available modes may cause interference with nearby legacy networks, and may cause nearby legacy devices to interfere with your network.

  • 802.11n (5Ghz only) network and Remote App.

I have a Time Capsule set up 802.11n (5Ghz only). iMac, MacBook & New Airport Express all connected to its network. Transmit rate is 270.
My question is, if my iPod Touch is g rated only, then how can the Remote App control my Airtunes if it cannot connect to my N network. Because it is.

    My Time Capsule
    Wireless Mode=Create a wireless network
    Radio Mode=802.11n only (5GHz)
My Time Capsule is connected to my Netgear (g only) router via ethernet.
I have the router broadcasting a g network for my iPod Touch. The Macs & AAE or all connected wirelessly to my Time Capsule N-only Network.
So the Touch should not be able to connect to my Airport Express as I understand it.

  • How do you "Add a Device" from the iOS remote app multiple times?

Anyone know a way to trigger the "Add a device" feature in the iOS remote app after you've already added one?
I have multiple Apple TVs scattered around the house and multiple people who would like to use them.  I have home sharing set up through my Apple ID so this works great for me.  For everyone else, I'd rather not sign my account in on their devices, even if its just for home sharing.  They can "Add a device" in the remote app to connect to one of the Apple TVs, but only one.
    I'm using iOS 8, iPhone 5s and 6, Apple TVs 2nd and 3rd Gen

I would rather not sign my account into other people's devices.
As I mentioned, I already have my own devices signed into home sharing.
Alternatively, is there a way to get an Apple TV attached to multiple home sharing accounts?
If there is, I could have each of the people in my household set up home sharing on their own accounts.

  • Logic crashes any time I record enable. Also, it won't quit normally. I have force close the application any time I want to quit. What's wrong here?

From the moment I downloaded Logic it would not quit properly. It won't respond to cmd Q or going to the menu to quit the application. Then when I try to simply record enable a track, the whole thing bugs out and crashes, no matter how many times I restart, same result. This is not how $200 software should act. *** Apple?

This is an oddity that happens if you upgrade from Leopard to Snow Leopard.
    Follow the instructions from here.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3968
Don't delete any more than they say in the article.
    This should help/fix your situation.
You're right, Apple's software should not behave this way... however, a little background.
Apple purchased this software at version 5.2 from another company, a highly respected company, it's coast at that time was $999.00, which is what I paid for it, it's professional software. Apple priced it at $499 for several years, when it moved to the app store it was reduced to $199, which is dirt cheap. It's all a matter of perspective.
p.s. These are user forums, no one from Apple will respond here, or so they say!

  • My ipod is acting on its own. It goes to voice command on its own and it will go to the home screen and possibly the search screen even when im in an app. also the multitasking will be brought up. and it turns itself on. what do i do to fix this.

i also tried the reset by holding the lock and the home button but it didnt seem to fix it. and this started after i let a friend borrow it for a night. and its not jail broke.

    - Disconnect headphones if you are using them
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Device that Supports WiFi/802.11n Connectivity to ISP.

    Hi,
I am looking for an access-point or a router that has DHCP-client enabled on its Wireless side. Imagine all computers/devices are wired and don't support wireless. Here is a diagram:
    Service Provider----))))))))  Wi-Fi/802.11a/b/g/n (((((((((((((------Device-I'm-looking-for ------------------ wired computers.
    Please advise.
    Thanks.

I would think that an 881W would be a good choice here.  You can enable DHCP under the wireless interface, and then NAT out of it.  then the 881 would provide DHCP to your wired clients.

  • Hello! I have an iPod Touch 4th Gen. of 8GB and I was wondering if I could just pay the difference for an iPod 5th Gen. 32GB or do I only get the 10% discount. Also, are there any times where Apple has special offers and discounts? Thank you :)

This is a question that I really need answered so that I can figure out what to plan to get the money to pay for the new iPod. Thank you!

You'd probably find a better deal with another store trade-in program. I know Radio Shack in years past purchased used Apple products and in return customers received a gift-card;  I think you'd get more bang for your buck... more than the messily 10%  Apples offers.
